Other sources for Zenbook

As mentioned by Teh_ROFFLES :

Possible Alternatives to those that are interested in Zenbook with i7.

Microsoft Store:

@ B&M If you spend $1000 on a computer you can take 25% off so $1449.00*.75= 1086.00 + additional tax where it applies. This is assuming they have the Zenbook in stock at the stores.

REMEMBER the MS Stores discounts end at end of the year I believe.

@ Online Microsoft Store LINK [microsoftstore.com]
It's $1449.00 which has Free Shipping + Tax. You also get a Microsoft Store Coupon $100 for future purchase.

This is great, thanks for posting! Not sure why it got three thumbs down. This is an awesome machine. Was hoping for a better deal this black friday, but I'll take $75 off retail.

if msft store has it, it might be a better deal there with 25% off.

This is worth more than my car!! I don't get why anyone would spend so much cash on a laptop that will be obsolete before you know it...my car still does it's job 18 years later!

That's a bit of a sweeping and frankly - an ignorant - thing to say about a core i7 laptop that weighs 2.8 lbs. This laptop will last into the 2010s for certain, and the weight to performance ratio is unlikely to be surpassed very soon.

That said, this is for people who require a very light and slim laptop and have the budget to afford one.

But .. Slickdeals can stick with their 300 dollar Lenovo netbooks with procs from 2001.

MS Store has the 25% off $1000 deal until 1/2/2012, so you have plenty of time. This particular laptop used to suffer from touchpad and keyboard issues, however a new hardware touchpad is in place along with driver updates, and the model I bought feels like a significantly improved keyboard from the in-store model. Still not a "great" keyboard, but middle-of-the-pack for me now, although it'll help to allocate a day to get used to it.

In terms of price, it's a more powerful & aesthetically pleasing computer at a better price point than the Macbook Air, for which there is a thread. Value is an individual assessment though :-) Overall thrilled with my purchase + the deal.
