Kindle Keyboard 3G (3G + Wi-Fi) w/ Spec Offers $85 at Target B&M Only (Similar to BB deal)

I searched to try and find this particular deal, but only saw the post for Best Buy ($90 in-store). For those who missed this deal, you might be able to get it at Target.

Target is selling the Amazon Kindle Keyboard 3G (also has WiFi) Special Offer version for only $85, but it's in-store only. We had to look at a few stores before finding availability. This normally sells for $139 on Amazon.com.

To see deal on Target's site, you have to go to your local weekly ad page:

http://weeklyad.target.com/dayton...9/homepage

Pasted text from weekly ad page:

sale$85
Store Price
AMAZON KINDLE KEYBOARD 3G (WITH SPECIAL OFFERS)
$85SALE
our lowest price ever! SAVE $54, REG. $139. In white or graphite. Holds up to 3,500 books.
Quantities limited; no rain checks.

Prices, promotions, styles and availability may vary by store and online.

Again, it's an in-store only deal. Goodluck!

Sorry, I'm not sure. How can I tell? And what are the differences in old vs new version?

Yes, only the older versions of the kindles have the full keyboards

TikiTime 11-26-2011 12:49 PM

I can confirm this deal. Purchased in Sarasota yesterday. The display is labeled $85.

This is the older style with full keyboard.

anitax 11-26-2011 12:50 PM

I went to a local Target store at 12am, when the Black Friday sale started, and the Kindle 3G with Spec Offers are all gone.
Don't know if other stores still have those, like Walmart, and then I can get a MP for $85.

We looked at the Kindle Keyboard 3G vs the Kindle Touch 3G (touchscreen, no keyboard), and the difference in original price was only $10 ($139 for keyboard and $149 for touch). But then we saw the keyboard version for $85, so it was a no brainer.

mitan 11-26-2011 12:53 PM

it is a older version compared to the touch, but some prefer the keyboard so it's not like amazon has put them on clearance or anything. Also, I think I heard somewhere that the 3G on the keyboard version can be used for more than it can with the touch version

c483125117 11-26-2011 01:04 PM

It's an older version. I picked one up from BB earlier this week for $90, which was well worth the extra $5 for not having to deal with BF shoppers. I prefer the keyboard over the new version because the on screen display keyboard is simply too difficult to use vs. the qwerty keyboard, when searching for titles, taking notes, etc. The extra size and weight are well worth it IMO. Also, free lifetime 3G on the keyboard.

discord 11-26-2011 02:01 PM

hmm BB won't give me kindle till tomorrow, maybe I can pricematch....

3G on Kindle w/ keyboard can be used to access anything that supports e-ink technology (the screen)

Kindle touch (the new one) only allows you to use 3G to buy books.

Obviously the older kindle is cooler!

xrage4200 11-26-2011 03:06 PM

whew, i sold mine this morning for 120

Wildpir8 11-26-2011 03:07 PM

This older version is definitely better than the new ones.

Agree... touch screen e-ink is still not good

sudha_roja 11-26-2011 03:14 PM

whats a big deal about this thread...........?

every one knows about the deal, can you find one now? - either online or stores? Like someone already said above, all these stuff was gone (midnight)12am yesterday.... No rain check, no stock anywhere..

If everyone knew about this deal at Target, then why was it never posted on SD until this afternoon? This was front page when it was posted for Best Buy, but I realize that was a couple weeks ago. It might be useful for those that may have missed that deal.

And I'd have to disagree with you -- the store we purchased from today had 6 left at 2pm EST. So we shouldn't post deals that we think might be available for some and OOS for others? I think many on here would disagree with that :shake:

TD if you want, but it sure seems like you're just pissy you didn't get one.

Divr 11-26-2011 03:36 PM

I beg to differ, I bought one last evening and they were available at several Target stores in central Florida I went to looking to see if I could get the Fire for the $123.

z3vv24 11-26-2011 04:31 PM

Anyone know what the DPCI number is so we can check it in the target online inventory checker?

Build, easier to turn pages and less awkward to hold.

Just got one from Staples, and they price matched it no problem!

agtmc2ae 11-26-2011 05:02 PM

I'll wait till staples sells for this price than use $25 coupon to make it slicker deal..

$90? Not good... If you wanted to avoid the BF rush, you should have bought from Target on say Tuesday or Wednesday, then get a price adjustment over the weekend while it was on sale... :)

If you read the reviews of the new gen kindle (non-touch), which I would assume the screen of the kindle touch is based on, there were a lot of complaints. Perhaps it was fixed with a firmware update, but the Kindle Keyboard is a proven thing -- it works VERY well!

rockyct 11-26-2011 06:45 PM

I picked one up yesterday at 11 AM and they still had 6 left in the security case. It didn't seem like it was that popular of an item. I also picked up the $100 Nikon camera they had and there were still 8 left.

The Kindle Touch is pretty crappy and I'd really rather have physical page turn buttons which the Touch doesn't have. Also, the 3G wireless is restricted to Amazon and wikipedia, no restrictions for the keyboard model.

This deal on the Kindle 3G KB w/special offers at Target wasn't listed on SD with a separate thread as it was originally listed some time ago under the Black Friday forum. That's why many knew of this deal as early as Nov 11th.

http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?t=3537866

Congrats to anyone who was able to get a Kindle 3G with this deal. I went to a nearby Target at midnight after Thanksgiving and didn't even bother to park the car. LOL at the long line. Regret that I didn't bother to go to BestBuy earlier in the week to pick one up at $90. Apparently there wasn't much of a rush for anyone buy it then. But most likely this deal will be repeated as this Kindle model is now obsolete with the introduction of the newer Touch models.

alanerickson 11-26-2011 06:59 PM

Just picked one up at my Target this afternoon. Pretty surprised they had any. They had two white ones (bought one of them) and no graphite. Was hoping to get a graphite one, and I was thinking I would exchange the white one for a graphite one at a later date so I grabbed the white. Haven't opened it yet but may just stick with the white. Decisions decisions.

zhamoytin 11-26-2011 07:02 PM

Just get on in Mountain View Target, CA

krighton 11-26-2011 07:02 PM

i couldn't get the lady at target to take one out of the case to see if it was $85 or not....she kept saying they were sold out and i could see them sitting there....but she refused to leave the cash register to look.

anmicki 11-26-2011 07:31 PM

I got one yesterday afternoon. Got the last graphite but tons of white ones left.

Yes. If no wifi it then switches to 3G.

Edit: My mistake. Read that as "with" a wi-fi hot spot. The correct answer should have been no. You can not use this as a wi-fi hot spot. The "experimental" browser within the Kindle barely works by itself, let alone feeding another device.

Ahh, I see that now. Point taken, thanks. Sounds like a lot of people still love the keyboard version even with the release of the Touch. We've found ours to be well worth the $85 price tag. Even after we landed a $150 HP Touchpad, the wife still wanted a separate reader, so I'm glad it didn't cost me too much!

gwd302 11-26-2011 07:41 PM

I just picked up two Kindles at my local Target about one hour ago...a white one and a graphite one. There were still 2 graphite and about 10 white Kindles left. This was the Greensboro NW location. So, Black Friday shoppers didn't get them all. Anyway, I think this was part of a 2-day sale...so, at this point, if you are still interested, you should probably just call your local Target & see if they are still in stock before wasting your time driving to the store.

hellosaywut 11-26-2011 09:00 PM

Picked one up at in Hawthorne, CA.

There is one left.

tenderidol 11-26-2011 09:22 PM

I PMed one at Staples on Friday using the Target print ad to replace the WiFi only version. I was going to get the Touch w/ SO, but this will work better (both in terms of price and functionality).

Just picked one up in Culver City, CA. The Jefferson Blvd. location is all out but the Sepulveda Blvd. location still had graphites and whites.

Picked up one in Las Vegas tonight. Stopped by two locations and they both had a bunch of white ones, limited graphite.

I think the sale ends tonight, so I doubt it matters how many are left.

Got one right before they closed in California - not bad for being a doorbuster....If I see a good deal on a non-special offer version I'll just return this one.

I believe there is a way to get rid of the special offers if you don't want to see/receive them.

I got a $85 white Kindle at Target on Black Friday because all the graphite ones were gone by 12:30. Not a deal breaker for me, because it was really just an impulse buy and I'll probably gift it or re-sell it, but people really don't care for the white ones.

deliteguy 11-27-2011 12:45 AM

I thought this deal was commonly known, but not enough attention was ever given. I got one in white. This thing is pretty sweet with free at&t 3g. AND... unlike the new kindle touches, this one lets me browse the internet(with a decent webkit browser) for free, around the world. That was the main reason for purchase, along with the slew of kindle features.

This deal definitely did not get enough love. I believe this was partly because of the Kindle Fire price match.
