That sucks what time did you order and did you just get the email?

lefeb1jj 11-30-2011 01:37 AM

8:45 AM - Have you seen my stapler?

This has to be the Red Swingline 747 stapler from the movie Office Space...they had it two years ago in a lightning deal as well..it was $9.99 then. Today the price currently lists $11.99...wonder what the price will be...

Amazon Link [amazon.com]

OneIsEnough 11-30-2011 01:49 AM

How did you find the lightning deals out in advance?

ashimashi 11-30-2011 01:49 AM

You can easily see them after midnight. Just click on "today's deals" on the front page, and then click on cyber monday deals to see all the lightening deals.

PBRhipster 11-30-2011 01:51 AM

ooooooo...I want that RF amp for my bestbuy subs!

Repped!

OneIsEnough 11-30-2011 02:00 AM

I wish I didn't buy speakers already or I'd be interested to see what the Altec Lansing wireless speakers are price-wise.

bestco 11-30-2011 02:58 AM

exactly how do lightning deals work? do you have to wait for the exact moment and click on the buy button immediately?

crazybob123 11-30-2011 03:10 AM

yes, that is correct

nycboyz 11-30-2011 03:13 AM

Ok, I must be a noob with these Amazon Lightening Deals, cause I don't get it. This least has no prices so am I supposed to wait until the prescribed time to see what the magical price is going to be to find out if it's really a deal (or not)?!?

That's right. Unfortunately, the prices listed (that are crossed off) change when the deal goes live, as to try and fool you into thinking its a greater discount. Best option is to look ahead to what interests you, and click it ... and note the current price. That way, when it goes live, you know how good of a deal it is.

I'm only interested in the soccer goal today for my kid.

Rokkyu 11-30-2011 03:41 AM

phew my haier 42" is set to arrive tomorrow morning, I'm curious how they sorted through people, because I made my order at 4:27AM(probably PST). Glad I actually ended up getting everything I wanted, and some sweet deals as well.

What gives with Newegg and their massive cancellations lately. I got the Toshiba Thrive cancellation 10 days ago. Lousy way for a company to operate.

dacrazydude 11-30-2011 03:44 AM

Oh man. If that "all national geographic issues since 1988" was an hardcover copy....

So...how is anyone giving reps and TU when we don't know if the price will actually be a SD (or even appear)? Not trying to TC, just asking a question of logic.

P.S. - I obviously meant "list" not "least" in my original post. Dang auto-complete.

Pretty pathetic of Newegg....I thought they had more of a real-time inventory on their site?

Being in the technical business I've been a NewEgg customer for about 10 years. Not sure if it changed owners or what but it has gotten to where they really suc.

At first thought I was just expecting too much from them but then seen all of the negative feedback in the last year or so for them.

Not saying they're worthless yet, just not what they used to be. I spend more and more time & money at Tiger Direct now.

What's ironic is that TigerDirect used to be the one with the reputation in the gutter not more than 10 years ago, and NewEgg was the alternative.

bruges 11-30-2011 04:28 AM

I ordered the Haier on Newegg around 6am I think. It was delivered late yesterday afternoon, except I missed the UPS truck and they are retrying today. Not sure why they cancelled earlier orders. I agree that it's not done! You could have been looking at other TVs if they just let you know right away.

A Lightning Deal is usually a deal. The only question is how good of a deal it will be. For the things that I usually purchase, Amazon already has the lowest online price for the item. So the only question is how much more they knock it down by.

The lightning deals don't typically last long enough to be posted individually (the best deals sell out fast). Most lighting deals are at least the best price you can find for the item online which in a small way makes them a SD by default. If you see a item that you want you can bet it is going to be one of the best (and likely, the best) price around. A good Lightning Deal is a SD by default, whether we know the final price or not.

impatien 11-30-2011 05:03 AM

I checked the price on the Sunbeam mixer an hour ago and it was $69.99. It's now a few minutes after 8:00 and still the same price. What's going on? This was actually selling for $59.99 a month or so ago. I don't get it.

comm0 11-30-2011 05:17 AM

my guess on the 9am deal "Get on the web fast with this deal on a laptop that boots in less than 10 seconds and resumes instantly from sleep."

Samsung Series 5 3G 12.1-Inch Chromebook

http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-12-...B004Z6NU70

Technical Details

Boots in less than 10 seconds and resumes instantly

If you're in the mobile app, you need to go to navigate to the Today's Deals->Lightning deals page to refresh the list.

If you're on the Amazon webpage, go to the homepage and then click the little Cyber Monday deals week banner on the upper right. Some of the items will update with the lightning deal price, but not all in my experience. It's safer to navigate from the actual lightning deals list.

bizzy2010 11-30-2011 06:03 AM

i am on laptop... for example puma jacket shows $60

And if it is a truly great deal, then checking a few minutes after will mean it is probably sold out by then. You don't want to really be on the item page but rather the lightning deal page so you can see immediately when it clicks over to the new price. There is a countdown of sorts.

It's not 8am PST yet. Looks like that's when it goes live. 10am Central my time.

They always show the original price, not what they last had it at. Makes you think you're getting more off than you actually are.

Sterling Silver Italian Rope Chain Necklace Set (1.30mm), 18", 20", 24" is already $59 i might pick this up, it's that or spend $175 at tiffanys for a 16 inch.

I think it only pops up as you make it on to the wait list. Don't think you can see it after that.

$3.99 off. What a waste of time. That think is so effing overpriced it's amazing

How much are/were the Altec Lansing speakers?
Thanks

gullickw 11-30-2011 08:20 AM

When the lightning deal time hits zero, a add to cart button will appear click it right away and it will add it to your cart. You then have 15 minutes to complete your purchase, or it will be then allowed to be purchased by someone else on the wait list (if it is a popular deal).

You are not buying it instantly when it comes available. If I find something I am interested in, but don't quite know what the price will be, I always try to add it to my cart, and then decide if the price is good enough.

You can easily see them after midnight. Just click on "today's deals" on the front page, and then click on cyber monday deals to see all the lightening deals.

P.S. - I obviously meant "list" not "least" in my original post. Dang auto-complete.

I gave him reps because of the effort. No TU for me since I don't like anything I see and don't know what the prices are.

How much did the Manfrotto carbon fiber tripod go for? Shows $119 now.

THANK YOU for using the rep and TU system the way it was intended. Rep for effort, TU for a good deal - never conflate the two!

costelloc 11-30-2011 10:29 AM

Sorry for not finishing it, guys. I took a little break to study, and passed out on my computer. I'll get the rest up now.

risumon 11-30-2011 10:42 AM

2yr old niece loves giraffe. Her xmas shopping is now done!

I don't even care if it is that great of a deal or not. Apparently it was as low as $45 before, but it is a 5ft tall giraffe for $50.

Not saying they're worthless yet, just not what they used to be. I spend more and more time & money at Tiger Direct now.

Wow I guess I am not crazy... Newegg has been great for the last decade or so... but a week ago, yes, RIGHT BEFORE BF, they suspended my account when I went to make a purchase. 10 days later, they are still "figuring it out." I blasted them, saying all of a sudden they are getting just as bad as Dell in support, and demanded my account active and to get all the items I missed for BG/CM weekend price matched now and/or when they come back in stock. They said yes, but that doesnt help when I still cant order anything. I have never had this type of incompetence from anything at Newegg, and this is going to change things. The worst thing is, not one apology or word of effort.... short curt 10 word replies basically saying they are on it, and they give me an update about once every 35 hours. It really takes 2 weeks to find out how to un-suspend a customer who has been a great customer for a decade and used Newegg as almost the sole source for all his clients and personal tech projects???

Thanks for the explanation. I agree and have done the same.

WeepingAngels 11-30-2011 08:52 PM

I gave rep points for the effort and TU (thumbs up)because of the convenience provided by the list and the hard work put in to it..

Amazon is a major player for slick deals members. The OP has saved all of us a great deal of time by posting this list so that I can see everything quickly and at once. Time is my most valuable commodity, so by saving me time this thread is a good deal in itself.
