Thoughts on this as a monitor for gaming? I see the typical contrast is 800:1 and most monitors I've been looking at have 1000:1. Is that a big difference?

There is not a set standard for contrast ratio, so a lot of times you end up comparing apples to oranges. The response time is 2ms, which is very good (if accurate). I had a Hannspree that I used as a monitor and it worked well (mine was a 42 inch, but was stolen).
