8-Pack of 64-Ounce Sweet Leaf Lemon Iced Tea $12.04

jcook740 01-03-2012 06:18 PM

Great price Deeds! We just can't go for the lemon flavored variety. Would be all over it for their normal tea. Sweet Leaf is very good.

For those that like this flavor it's an amazing price.

financechick 01-03-2012 06:32 PM

18 grams of sugar per 8 oz.

Darn, I was looking for some iced tea with 20 grams or more sugar per 8 oz.
I guess I will pass.

Deranged Cat 01-03-2012 06:41 PM

And there's almost 40 grams of sugar in a 12 oz. Coke.

This is sweet tea - It has Sugar in it!

And this is FP material for this amazing price.

And your "moves like jagger" saying on your profile creeps me out. That song sucks!

Foreveryours 01-03-2012 07:07 PM

Never heard of Sweet Leaf. Is it a regional brand?

It's decent - lemon and mint aren't very good.
Original and peach are much better.
Austin based with good marketing.

Anyone else have Black Sabbath in their head now?

BlackbirdHM 01-03-2012 07:52 PM

Not sure this is a deal.

Looking at it another way, this is 4 gallons of tea for 12 bucks, or 3 dollars a gallon.

On the other hand, I can frequently obtain Turkey Hill brand tea for 2 dollars a gallon on sale at my local grocery, and it's perfectly passable (if average-tasting). That's probably not even that great a deal in the grand scheme of things - without coupons or savvy shopping.

Unless this tea is ridiculously good or you're really hung up on drinking organic only, then it seems like you could do better elsewhere.

the tea is VERY very good....

Thatoneguythere 01-03-2012 10:52 PM

You could always make your own tea for cheap. I usually make myself a nice Chai Latte with honey.

Akarin 01-03-2012 10:55 PM

boil a pot of water, throw a couple of those lipton tea bags in. leave it in the fridge overnight, add to taste sweeteners (or a ton of sugars). That's basically Sweet tea. If you add the right amount, it will taste just like store bought ones

DBC 01-03-2012 10:59 PM

Yeah, there's no point in buying tea, even if it's the Sweet Leaf tea. (shit's good)

pladman007 01-03-2012 11:17 PM

for those of us who are lazy and or do not have the time but have disposable income this is a good option. home made is great, but who has the time for that

danbanger 01-03-2012 11:38 PM

Yea who has time to boil water these days.

Sterling_Archer 01-03-2012 11:46 PM

Remember kids, A watched pot never boils.....

And an unwatched pot causes the fire department to come.

Basically you're F'ed either way. Buy the tea, or burn down the house.
Decisions, decisions.

FYI - The diet version of this tastes like maggot infused ass......and believe me I KNOW what maggot infused ass tastes like.

In DIET tea??!

I'll pass. Nobody needs extra empty calories in drinks.

Oh... And I have a Keurig I use to make my tea / iced tea.

dolemite77 01-04-2012 05:34 AM

....or make your own by the gallon for pennies on the dollar:

Boil pot of water and turn off heat
add 8 tea bags, let sit a few hours - overnight
remove teabags, add ~ cup of sugar and reheat to dissolve sugar
pour into a gallon container and then fill with water.
MMMMMMMMMM...........

Makes better tea than any of those silly "tea makers" on the market.

tomli777 01-04-2012 05:41 AM

sweet leaf tea is really good...discovered it when i was studying at UT Austin. been finding it around this area (NYC metro/NJ) so it is definitely spreading. i would say even better than snapple....avoid the mint though. i like it but most people don't (it's like drinking tea after chewing mint gum)
