Have you not seen current hdd prices? Post-flood, this is pretty decent.

Kayza 01-05-2012 04:09 AM

In that case, YOWZA! I am now glad I got a 3tb external usb3.0 then for $110, and hopefully by the time I need another, 1tb ssds will exist and be affordable.

Edit: fixed autocorrect

The floods in Thailand shut down the production lines of major HDD manufacturers.

Ahhh... Thanks

slickduude 01-05-2012 05:52 AM

i was waiting for them to drop to 55 bucks.

theelite 01-05-2012 05:54 AM

Well not completely true, really only Western Digital was affected, the other HD manufacturers are just raising the prices based on WD plant going down.
Seagate actually shipped less drives than they normally do but profits are up.

Blah I need a 2 TB drive though, my Seagate and Hitatchi both just click of deathed on me.
Looks like I am gonna pony up for this.

bikehigh 01-05-2012 06:03 AM

If people don't buy into price gouging, it will drop.

dividedsky319 01-05-2012 06:37 AM

I'm waiting for another Seagate Green 2TB $100 sale before I bite... sigh...

flyingvee 01-05-2012 06:49 AM

TD - flood or no flood. Opened my NEWEGG email and was VERY disappointed. NWIH I'd be posting this as an SD.

evunited 01-05-2012 07:05 AM

I bought 8 2TB hard drives while it was $65. I am good for now.
