Both rebates below require original upc code, not photocopy. It's not free.

2 Rebates Possible: A $10 Rebate is available thru "SmartSource" on published on 11/20/11 and expire 2/29/12. This would make it $9 + tax, or if Phillips renews their refer a friend program ($10 rebate - expired on 12/31/11) this would also make it $9.

http://coupondatabase.dealseeking...ll_words=1

The SmartSource rebate can also be purchased on Ebay for $0.99.

Phillips refer a friend rebate (expired 12/31/11) thanks "atriathletek"but extented to 2-2012

Send yourself the above $10 MIR to bring it down to $9 + tax/shipping.

Saw this deal. Anyone know of a more current rebate?

Going through that link you get an email.. but it says this in the fineprint:

Your claim must be postmarked no later than 12/31/11

Ghecko 01-05-2012 09:05 AM

Thanks OP. The wife's old one just isn't holding a charge anymore, this will make a good replacement.

gnarpow 01-05-2012 09:12 AM

Sounds like a good deal to me. Just ordered one for the wife. Came to $21.45 with tax and shipping. Figured it was worth 0.97 to avoid walking into a Walmart.

To my observation, the Sonicare build quality is not that great. Mine, because not wipe dry after use, or some other reasons, might have cracks at the bottom, and caused it to stop functioning after about five years or four years, I can't tell. I got a replacement on the original purchase because of severe mold problem, but the replacement has the same problem of course, so I can't tell how long I was using it. By opening the brush case, (causing irreversible damage, although glued back, no longer working properly) I found corrosion on the circuit board. After I opened the casing, it actually started to run, means the circuit came back to life. But I think when I put it back and glue to seal, the spacing between the electro-magnetic drive and the plastic housing has too big a gap, so it won't drive the header enough to perform any cleaning:lol: OK, I'm electrical engineer, not mechanical, so I screwed it up.
On the other hand, my oral-b, bought at the same year, way cheaper, and didn't go through the replacement, so should have worked more than 5 years to now, is still in great shape. Of course, I bought a new 5000 series one from the amazon deal with 50% rebate last year, and am using that now.

Is this on sale because its the version with the pink button? Maybe its being discontinued.

ryanmemperor 01-05-2012 10:21 AM

are these in-store as well? been sitting on about ten $15 off coupons for these...

Microtubule 01-05-2012 10:22 AM

For everyone with the gunk problem, try this. Buy a $1 tube of rubber cement from WalMart and fill in the creases around the brush head with it and allow it to dry before using. This will allow no water or gunk to get through the brush cap so you shouldn't have any more problems with the gunk build up. Of course, this will only work if you don't want to change brush heads because another person uses it. You just need to take a razor blade and cut through it to change the head. I'm sure you could use calking too but the rubber cement seems easiest.

My old e5300 won't hold a charge anymore either. Have they improved the battery on these? Do you have to buy the more expensive models to get the lithium-ion battery?

newhunter 01-05-2012 10:32 AM

Thanks. Just ordered one for my wife. I've been looking for the replacement head for this toothbrush thinking we can just replace the brush head and share the same machine together. but now I can get the machine for almost the same price with head replacement. Good deal!

feels weird and sensitive the first time I used this. But after couple times, I feel much better and cleaner. Hopefully I don't need dental hygienist service anymore :)

don't forget mr-rebate-s 5% cashback.

I personally think that's retarded...rebate forms for sale on ebay? Really? I understand the supply/demand of it but come on.

force41 01-05-2012 10:47 AM

I've had my eye open on SD for an electric toothbrush for the last couple weeks. This would have been a good price, but I already went with the Oral-B 1000 model for $35 w/FS on eBay. I think the Oral-B 1000 is a better model than the Philips Essence. Nonetheless, good post, OP.

I think the bats in these things are not Ni-Mh, but Ni-Cad, I don't think philips ever used Ni-MH in their products. But maybe, just maybe, not plug in the stand all the time might help. The Ni-Cad is notorious for memory effect, so try to drain it to total empty before plug it in for recharge might give you longer battery life. My Oral-B has Ni-Mh, and is ok to be topped off regularly.

build quality, yes; cleaning the tooth, similar. BTW, I got a 5000 model for about that price, and a 4000 model for less, after rebate. I won't suggest ebay for these.

I used this one and sent it to myself. The email came almost instantly.

Not sure how you can double up on the rebates if they both ask for the original UPC

dewski 01-05-2012 11:18 AM

I have used my essence for well over a year and never had a problem with battery life/charge/power.
BUT I ONLY charge mine when it starts to die. I don't put it on the power base until that time and it has lasted a LONG time now.

As for gunk/mold getting in between the head and handle, I have been using the sonic seal (google it) and had great results.

going to grab another one of these for a back up. For 10 bucks...can't go wrong!

Suprmum 01-05-2012 11:20 AM

Have a copy of the mail in rebate from smart source. Says its not to be combined with any other offers and that they require the original UPC and original receipt. So I figure no double dipping on this one. Still $9.99 is a good deal. REps.

Even at $19 it's worth it as the Essence runs for $40 on Amazon. I have the Essence and love it, but mine it getting old, this will be a great replacement!

Any battery operated device used daily for 4 to 5 years is a pretty good time frame I think !!!

brufener 01-05-2012 11:31 AM

Got 1 for me and 1 for the wife. For this price, it's worth it so we don't have to bother with switching heads.

BPD007 01-05-2012 11:31 AM

The emailing rebate expires 12/31/11 that sucks

ANyone have a link to a good rebate?

anonomous 01-05-2012 11:32 AM

for those of you that have sonicare toothbrushes that don't hold a charge anymore: You need to charge it fully and store it off the charger or unplug the charger until the battery runs down completely. The instructions say to keep it on the charger always, but this will kill your battery. This goes for anything rechargeable, really.

This should be the same toothbrush as any of the other ones that take e-series heads, so this is a good deal.

Luckily a Fed Ex store is about 1 mile from my house and I can almost ALWAYS get Free Ship To Store, where they consider the Fed Ex store a location so I get free shipping!

There is a $25 Sonic Care coupon that can be had also to MAKE money on this.
Search ebay for it.
Not sure if it will fly with the customer service peeps @ WM but it does say any Sonicare rechargeable toothbrush.

I believe it's one size and rather small. But that's OK because you will notice your teeth cleaner immediately.

You simply unscrew the brush at the base. Google images you'll see. They can be expensive but I buy them through Amazon on a subscription basis and it's cheaper. I tend to hold my brush down hard on my gums which wears the brush out more. Been trying to go softer. You really dont need to push down hard on these toothbrushes.-

I've got a 25 and two 15 coupons at home but they are instore use only. I'm betting if my store even had these they would be regular priced.

Man you people are cheap! :D And I mean that in a good way since we're all on SD.

Honestly though for 97 cents, it's hella worth it not having to go into dreaded Walmart or a Fedex location. Considering the gas, the time standing in line and then driving back again. Remember time is money and for 97 cents I'd rather just have it shipped directly to my front door.

I made the mistake of having an item shipped to Walmart once for free site to store. When I got their the line was so long and when I finally almost got there, the people in front of me wanted to pay for their groceries at the pick up counter. WTF!!! Needless to say it took even longer. Such inconsiderate people, I mean pay for your items at the regular check outs. The pick up line is for PICK UPs! Never again.

Totally agree. Not only the places where Walmart locate are dreadful, but also waiting there for pickup was such a bad experience for me, I had to wait for 45 minutes once, hope that's the last one.

Here's my Walmart's story pickup story.
Ordered item online for store pickup. As I stated this store is in a dreadful area, a true DUMP.

Woman in front of my was picking up something. She had to sign the receipt that she picked up her item. The guy behind tells her to use the electronic wired stylus to SIGN the PAPER receipt. She said you dont have a pen. He replied "They keep stealing the pens here".

When it was my turn, the same thing, he told me to sign with the stylus. I said you get your pens stolen? He replied "IT HAPPENS THROUGHOUT THE DAY, EVERY DAY"

What a country!

Not a good example for calling out WM as a 'dump'.

Well, the closest Walmart to me is in a very nice area, quiet and clean. All stores are clean, nice, not too many crowd in weekday, and nice people shopping there. But not walmart, the parking lot of walmart portion was full of leaked oil, gum, dump, sh.t, the store was crowded, dirty, messy. Once I went to pickup a fish tank in a week day, only saw long lines at checkout, put down the fish tank, and went to the PetSmart next door, paid 1 or 2 bucks more but left in one minute. I went there mainly to check price, and do shopping at the nearby target.

Awesome! Bought two for my girls...I was going to get the kids version but I don't see why these wouldn't work. No more disposable Dora toothbrushes!

Also, regarding the battery life... I've had my Sonicare for at least 6 years and keep it on the charger all the time and it still runs like a charm. My husband and I use it each twice a day.

Ordered 2 came home turns out my old lady had 3 of the mail in rebates from some news paper. Hoping I can atleast get one rebate to work. Had I knew she had them I would have shipped one of them to a different address...

riprap 01-05-2012 02:22 PM

Sonicare tooth brushes use to last forever. With China making them the rules have changed. My last one outside the guarantee the push button deteriorated letting water into the case. Then the same thing happened to my daughters also outside of guarantee. I guess their plan is to ride the reputation of great product down into the ground and bleed off the remaining profits. We have of course seen this in many other companies that once had long quality product reputations. Philips can do better than this. I suppose Norelco shavers and other products will be taken down the same rode by Philips. What a shame.

Did u ask the CSR if they will accept a photocopy of the UPC? Seems like both rebates require the orig UPC. So no double-dipping?

The product details does list the quadpacer feature but I'm pretty sure that this essence model doesn't have it. Most likely a typo/mistake on the product page.

If anyone called, let me know how it went. I'm contemplating calling them, because they obviously screwed up. Poor tracking of inventory, and taking forever to realize it.

smarttowers 01-10-2012 10:21 AM

Just got off the phone with them basically all they offered was if it comes back in stock I will be able to call and get the original price honored if it goes up. My guess is they were a limited run and not likely to see them back. They are far from Amazon or even Newegg customer service that's for sure.

Oh they said the reason that we didn't get them is one of the fulfillment centers had an inventory problem. I chose site to store shipping anyone else? I'm wondering if the ones who chose home shipping are the ones who got them.

I had chose to ship to my home but got cancelled, and only order 1, before this thread got any attention. It seems like it was just random cancellations.

i ordered 2 using the ship to home for 0.97 each on friday and got them both on saturday.
they were shipped from PA.

The only thing i think you guys got cancelled because you guys used the first link that had the option to ship to store where as I used the 2nd link that had only ship to home when the first link was OOS.

Does someone know how to claim the $10 coupon (not MIR) after ordering online? Can I just go to store and show them the receipt and claim $10 back?

Can I have it? I will PM you my addy if you're okay with it.
Thanks

UPDATE: Never mind, I have 2 choices, the referral and the Delta Dental pdf, since I have delta dental.

t_money662 01-15-2012 02:25 PM

I did the refer a friend email, but notice that it says you have to buy the sonicare AFTER the date of the email was sent, and you have to print the email which has the date... I bought the toothbrush first, then did the refer a friend...am I SOL, or do I do the expired Delta Dental pdf instead and hope that the expiration date won't matter like people on here have posted...?

Anyone has the number for the rebate center?

peppermint 02-06-2012 03:34 PM

Does anyone know the last date for mailing in the rebate?

MetalMayhem 03-06-2012 06:59 PM

Where or how do I check status of rebate?

thx

p.s. I'm having slight mold issues with mine and I always dry it and unscrew the brush head to air out.

Are these http://www.amazon.com/Sonic-Seal-...B001S2PLNK worth the cost?

or is there a cheaper method, I think I recall hearing about rubber cement (is there some sort of tutorial out there?)
