Just FYI:
If you meet certain income criteria you can file your federal and state taxes, using HR Block software for FREE on myfreetaxes.com you can also use HR Block software via IRS Free File http://www.irs.gov/efile/article/...86,00.html |
Great price. Does it include state efile?

Federal only. No state in this version at all. There is always an extra charge to efile state taxes with the version that includes state taxes, but Federal efile is included at no charge.
I simply mail my state taxes as I usually owe them less than $100. I have no interest in paying $19.95 to efile state taxes. |

Bah, bought the same exact thing for 25$ a week ago....
|
Perfect perfect, bought, thanks, repped, woo!
|
Thanks OP.
just to make it clear: deluxe only = federal+efile included; but no state software/no state efile deluxe+state = federal+efile included; state software included but no state efile correct? |
I am a CPA and I do not care if you use these products. But, please do not go to HR Block or any of the other "sit down" places. They charge far too much for no service.
I can't tell you how many clients I have seen who have paid MORE at HR Block/etc retail location than it would have cost them to come to me or any of the other local CPAs that I know personally. |
Can anyone confirm the AAFES price? I'm seeing $59.95 with a $30 rebate if you buy a version of Quicken
|
There is an H&R $10 rebate out there too. Got Deluxe fed plus state at Target today for $39-$10 Target coupon and then -$10 mail in rebate = $19 net plus tax. Used my red card for another 5% off.

EDIT: did an SD search and found this thread which includes a PDF of the $10 rebate form for H&R Block $19 after coupon and rebate is a great deal |
Perfect - thanks OP!
|
I will stick with TaxAct for $12.

Also does it really matter what software you use to maximize the returns? (without considering the ease of use or UI features) |

How does this cater to homeowners and differ from the free federal efile edition? Also, is there a 2011 tax credit for new first time home buyers? I've googled this but search results aren't initially clear, plus I trust me fellow SDers a lot more than other internet info floating around.
|
I'm pretty sure I got in on the H&R Block deal last year and I paid less than $20 for the Federal E-file with the software. I mailed state taxes in myself for free.
|
Regarding the california return website, I remember it having a problem properly deducting vehicle registration fees last year. I noticed the difference when the refund amount came back differently from what turbo tax told me it would be.
I ended up doing a paper file and getting the $7 bucks they tried to scam from me. I don't know if its been fixed this year or maybe was only a glitch for me last year. |

no and no :shake: here is the link to comparison of 3 version H&R Block offers: Basic, Deluxe and Premium http://images.amazon.com/images/G...-chart.jpg i used H&R Deluxe last year, it allowed me to e-file federal, and print out then mail for your state (state e-file: no, state software: yes). hope this helps |

I was fortunate enough to get in on this CA Anti-Virus Plus (6-Month Subscription) + H&R Block At-Home Deluxe (Digital Download) $0.01 deal last year. I then upgraded to Premium for $15 more. I'll hold out a little while to see if something comparable comes along this year.

why don't you buy the H&R Block At Home Deluxe 2011 Win [Download] in OP for $16.99, you 're gonna do exactly the same as you did last year, efile federal and paper state. $16.99 is already cheaper than $20 you pay last year. This is great deal if you ask me. |
Will this read my 2010 turbo tax file document so I don't have to enter all the information again?
|

I agree that state efile is a waste of money. No use spending $20 just to get your $100 state refund faster. |

Seems like you can save yourself the $16.99 for the Deluxe version and get it free yet again through the same Ally Bank H&R Block link I used last year to file my taxes. Like the OPs have said, in many states it's pretty easy to E-file your taxes online on the state website just by punching in your information.
Though my tax this year is more complicated than before, so I'm thinking of buying the $19.99 Deluxe + State from Amazon. I jumped in as well on the $0.01 cent deal last year for the CA Antivirus + H&R Block Deluxe on TD but gave it to a good friend. http://hrblock.com/taxes/partner/...nerId=5149 The only downside to this version is you have to do it all online. I'm not sure if they'll make you pay at the end, but I know for sure they didn't make me pay last year when I filed my Federal through them... |
Amazon Gold Box today has H&R Deluxe Federal + State for 19.99!

Even better than the Target deal - use the $10 rebate and that makes this $9.99. Will be returning the one I bought yesterday from Target - sweet! Edit - scratch that, the rebate form lists the stores its valid from on it and Amazon is not one of them, Target is though. Wonder if it would still go through. |

Another thing to check in the near future are Dollar Stores. Yeah, I know that sounds weird, but they have (at least in the past) have had H&R for $1. They did it last year (though at least at my local store, they didn't do it in 2010, but did do it for about 3 years prior). It says "Standard Edition" IIRC. However, when I have used it in the past I think it is the Deluxe version, as it allows me to make all my deductions (I have rental properties) and I didn't notice a difference between it and Deluxe. It's the Federal version only, but does have one free efile. So, you might want to keep your eyes open at you Dollar Store. FYI.
|
watch out
the $10 rebate not for amazon.com
so still 19.99 if bought in from amazon |

do turbotax programs get charged tax? If so I'm better off buying from amazon download than waste gas +tax + time to "save" $10
|
Been waiting for deal like this for Deluxe + State. Used it for several years now. Thanks!
|
dont know if I should hold off on H&R Deluxe for $19.99 or hold off for a better deal like last year. I got it for $1
|
Request: Can y'all please help me compile the information for different state tax sites where people can file the state taxes for free?
|
Rebate only calls for a copy of receipt so someone 'could' buy from Target and also from Amazon. Copy the Target receipt and then return to Target. Keep one from Amazon and turn in rebate slip with Target copy receipt. I won't do this but if someone was willing they could still get from Amazon at $9.99.

Glad I checked this weekend! thanks op!
|
Just got a flyer from TD Ameritrade. Go to tdameritrade.com/taxcenter and login for 35% off Turbotax. I closed my account, so I cannot check the prices.
|
for someone that never filed taxes how easy are these programs to use? my fear is that i either forget something, and get audit later or get less money back

I find Turbotax to be the best. You go through the Q&A process and it is pretty good at catching recent tax code changes and your particular income/deductions. That being said, for more complicated situations, I would use a professional preparer. Software is not perfect in catching all your income/deductions. Hope that helps. |

Looks like Amazon has the TurboTax Deluxe Federal + E-file + State 2011 on sale for $39.79. Isn't that a good price?
