Offer exclusively for new customers to OnSale.com

So if purchased earlier anything from OnSale , I am excluded from this offer?

mrawesomepants 01-13-2012 12:40 PM

Not worth it for just $5 of savings.

MightyMan908 01-13-2012 12:43 PM

My order went through...let's see if it arrives. I already had an account and I believe I purchased there before.

getme_frnd 01-13-2012 12:44 PM

Thanks, got 1

amy99s 01-13-2012 12:46 PM

Major premise: Offer exclusively for new customers to OnSale.com
Minor premise: You purchased earlier anything from Onsale (*custom)
Conclusion: You are exluded from this offer.

The trick is understanding that if you purchased earlier anything from Onsale, you would not be a new customer.

I have gotten a TON of gift cards from them even when it says for new customers and they always arrive

wheeee 01-13-2012 12:49 PM

Free gas is always welcome, thanks!

thenettavenner 01-13-2012 12:56 PM

$5 off $25 is 20% in my books. It is a good deal.

Thanks OP. Thumbs up.

OK, Thanks for that info..although I am a new customer for them...

Question though - can you do multiple cards under different new accounts with same shipping address..even though the deal says one per shipping address? Note: the deal also says new customers - and ppl claim being able to order these all the time...

Anyone being successful at this now or in past, can you post?

So you either use public transportation, walk everywhere, ride a bike, or have an electric vehicle...

achris 01-13-2012 01:14 PM

if you ordered something in the past and ordered this, they will just cancel it on you.

rballnut 01-13-2012 01:20 PM

Thanks OP, if you can get multiple card then I think it's worth it otherwise just a single card with saving of $5, which I already get 4% back on gas on my cc, which means actual savings is only $4. To me just not worth of the time/hassle/risk.

oliverquack 01-13-2012 01:23 PM

in for 3!!

to the guy who said it aint worth 5 bucks, lol, think outside the box holmes

I have to agree with this guy, EXXON MOBIL gas is usually more expensive than other gas stations and with 5% cashback buying gas with my Chase Freedom it's not even $5 savings.

For example if I get gas at Hess, BP, Costco, or Sams Club the price is usually cheaper and an additional 5% cashback.

So this deal is more like $2-$3 savings on gas.

I don't feel any difference between EXXON and Costco gas...runs the same to me...can someone enlighten me with the differences?

Just wait and use this next quarter when there is no more 5% Chase Freedom for gas.

True, but Chase Freedom always have 5%, but you just have to sign up every freaking quarter of the year which is so annoying.

gonding 01-13-2012 01:28 PM

sold out...

dealalert00 01-13-2012 01:28 PM

Noob question here, as folks are talking about getting multiple cards...

When they say "Only 1 Exxon/Mobil Gift Card per customer, shipping address, credit card billing, and household"...keying off the work "AND"...

Is that one card for each combination of theses four factors? For example, if the only thing changing is the credit card billing, can I participate in this deal multiple times.

You would have to buy $125.00 of gas just to get $5.00 cash back from your cc.

I don't think I follow the math here.

-You get 4% off for gas from your CC
vs
-Onsale has gas cards for 20% off.

I realize most mobil/exxons have a markup, but 20% is still somewhat of a deal.
Here is my breakdown:

My local cheap gas is 3.59.
My mobil has is usually 30 cents more expensive. (Highway robbery imo)
Add 10 cents to that for credit price and assume a flat 4.00 per gallon for gas.

Using my gift cards, its 20% off + 1.25% blue cash + 1.25% envaulted = 22.5%
4.00 * (1-.225) = $3.1 per gallon of top tier gasoline.

All that, for the time signing up at onsale, filling in your cc info, and having it show up in your mail.

bvdew 01-13-2012 01:33 PM

It already sold out. Only 154 available

Akarin 01-13-2012 01:35 PM

come down lol, most likely if you get gas, it isn't just going to be exactly $25.
say, you pay $55 for a full tank
use 4%, you get 4% off
use $5, and 4% on the remaining, you get 11%
some people may feel it is not worth it the dismal amount

linkin06 01-13-2012 01:36 PM

lol great # of quantity.

YoSlick 01-13-2012 01:41 PM

If you are interested in saving $ on gas ALL the time vs just the 1/2 tank this might buy, check out Pentagon Federal Visa. Its 5% back on gas 24/7, no tiering

aaba78 01-13-2012 01:42 PM

this economy stinks $5 bucks savings on gas is a good deal

FREEALTA 01-13-2012 01:47 PM

Snagged one before even reading all the posts on this... Took me a lot more time to read through this thread than filling out the form to save $5.

You are wrong about the "always" part. At least as gas is concerned.

You talking about last year... get over it, and they did they offered anyone order that got cancelled to email there invoice of mail it to them months back and they would send one for that price. Sorry you missed it.

binji 01-13-2012 01:50 PM

Exact dollar amount purchases like this are a good way to use up your prepaid rebate cards online. I had a $20 rebate card I used to purchase this. I was going to use it to pay for gas anyways. Free $5! :D

zorobabel 01-13-2012 01:52 PM

What a joke, only 154 available. Just advertising.

time?

few clicks.

Hassle?

few clicks.

Risk?

Is the risk different is savings were more than $4 in your case?

Don't start an off-topic discussion regarding quality of gas. This one saves you $5.00. If you like it get it, otherwise, dont waste your time. People who say it is not worth time and hassle, why are you wasting your time, writing a comment about it?

Damn I have a stack of rebate cards sitting on my desk but I didn't even think to use them for this! I always forget to use them :(

i always thought 1st world was countries that supported the usa, including the usa, 2nd world countries were countries that supported the ussr, including the ussr, and 3rd world countries were neutral.
therefore isnt such "world" talk obsolete claptrap horsehockey????

kschlege 01-13-2012 04:25 PM

King Soopers here in Colorado used to offer gift cards at reduced price and could use them on gas, but they don't do it anymore. Could buy $125 for $100, and I'd use them at their gas stations. But they don't do that anymore. :(

techoneup 01-13-2012 04:55 PM

What if you bought a Touchpad.....just kidding OnSale. You came through in the end.

fixxture37 01-13-2012 06:44 PM

First of all I have to say you all find great deals and you beat me to posting the Slickdeals. I am just wondering that all these sites we are giving them our personal information and credit card numbers.

In this case we have so many of these sites. I am just wondering what would stop these guys from selling our information or being hacked?

Anyway just a thought not trying to be a downer.

Don't worry nothing he says makes sense. Canonikon user name means he thinks he is better than others. No one was interested in his off-topic discussions anyways. Have a good day.
