Costco B&M - Palmer U Shaped Desk with Hutch $199.97 Clearance YMMV

This desk has been ~$400 at my Costco for the last year or so. Walked in today and found it marked down to $199.97 on clearance. Nicest desk I've seen for this price. I think Costco stores will vary on when they mark these down, but worth checking if you are looking for a nice, big desk...

YankeeRedneck 01-19-2012 04:03 PM

Add $50 for a costco membership.

If the post title says Costco and you don't have a Costco membership , don't bother reading and save your $50. If you are a professional troll, make a comment like this.....

I'm thinking of getting a Costco membership tomorrow...I wonder if I can find this deal locally.

Can anyone else confirm they got the same price?

This is $199.97 at Costco in Avon, MA. Looks to be about 4 left. It's a dark brown color. Not quite espresso but pretty dark.

I've attached a copy of the receipt. The desk is a chocolate brown. I wish it was a lighter brown like you see with most brown desks, but I can live with it for the price paid. Per comments on another deal site, this price is confirmed at other stores. Even if the tag shows it at $400, have them scan it at a register. You will probably find they just didn't update the tag with the new price. They can also check other stores if you have multiple Costcos in your area.

gorgehound 01-20-2012 07:13 PM

Still $399.99 at the avon, oh location. will check back another day, i like this desk. thx OP

badmonopoly 01-20-2012 07:16 PM

Noobs don't know that you get the 50 back every year no matter what.

If you don't receive the 50 back in the from of their cashback, then you just go to customer service desk and ask for the difference LOL.

mekeo21 01-20-2012 09:50 PM

Costco I visited in Livermore, CA had it still priced at 399. AND the desk comes in 3 boxes... and they had two of each box1 and box2 but no box3's. lol

congrats to those who got the 199 price

zhjier 01-21-2012 06:48 PM

Palmer U shaped Office Desk with Hutch for 199.00 at Costco B&M (YMMV)

I just picked up a Bestar Palmer Office desk (Item # 497393) with hutch from Costco for 199. This was 399 a week back and a similar unit sells for 619 at costco.com. I picked this from Springdale, Ohio store. You might want to check if this is available in your local store.

FWIW costco clearances are decided by the local store, probably not nation wide as I haven't even seen something like this in the NY costco that i frequent

About to go to my store in Grafton, WI. I hope it's available, I'd love to get it.

remy4484 01-22-2012 01:34 PM

Got one in Atlanta, Georgia (Brookhaven Location) a few days ago. Was back there today and there's still one left.

Great desk and can't beat the price. Very sturdy and looks great.

blackblaze 01-22-2012 01:46 PM

It seems you definitely need an adequate amount of space to accommodate this desk. If I had the space, I'd be in for one.

ledoantri 01-22-2012 08:00 PM

Anyone seen this table for $99 ?
Both Costco near my place has it for 199.99
Still wondering since this does not look like hard wood...

ledoantri 01-22-2012 08:03 PM

That's only for the exec membership, which essentially makes the "upgrade" to exec free minus 1 yr interest from $50. You can't get CB from the regular membership.

Costco gift cards [ebay.com] can be used without membership. I admit, you do take a bit of risk buying gift cards on eBay, etc. But if you have a working gift card, no problems shopping at Costco [costco.com]:
You must be a Costco member to purchase or reload Costco Cash Cards. Members and non-members may use the cash cards to shop at any Costco locaton in the United States, Puerto Rico or on costco.com. Costco Cash balances may be used toward membership or merchandise.
(...and I just noticed the typo on Costco's page. I hope it's a typo, or I'd be embarrassed telling people to find a Costco locaton, or any locaton for that matter.)

I appreciate good quality meat but my grocery store carries better quality meat and during sales it is cheaper than costco. Costco doesn't have bad meat but imo it isn't any better in quality or price than I can get elsewhere. I find the food prices at costco aren't generally as good as my grocery store's sale price, but I have the time to shop sales and the room to stock up on things. I only live with two people so the idea of having to buy in bulk isn't always appealing. If you have a larger family or don't have time to shop grocery store sales costco prices probably look better to you. In my area costco has really good diary price, their milk is $1.50 less per gallon than anywhere else. I do love my costco membership, it's well worth $50 annually but costco is like any other store where they have better prices on some things than others. In my area meat is not one of their most competitive areas but it might be difference where you live.

I think for deals with rebates, you should troll those too, posting to insist they factor in the cost of the stamp, and then the cost of the printer, toner, paper, and envelope to print the rebate

:lmao:

thehitokiri 01-23-2012 09:15 PM

Costco does not price match other warehouses. The prices will vary depending on location, warehouses might be 12 miles apart and the prices might be totally different. They will not match each other and as far as prices being mark down it all depends on the vendor. Let's say an item is selling better in warehouse A but not so good in B , then the vendor would issue some type of price adjustment for them. Another case might be that they are just trying to get rid of the item because it's being replace.

SDRockz 01-23-2012 09:58 PM

Costco memberships used to pay for itself in the savings on gas and milk alone.Nowadays the savings on gas is almost nada, same for the milk, compared to my local Safeway.
And it's $55/$110 now for memberships.

Not to mention many deals on SD I've jumped on seem to be about 30% less than standard Costco prices.

scott101 01-23-2012 10:36 PM

If your a SD'er with a Costco close by and your not a member don't hate. Costco with the right due diligence is a no brainier buy the 6 heads of romaine lettuce... buy the 2 jars of enormous peanut butter and throw half away or better yet donate it to the local food bank and you still come out with money in your pocket versus your the chain grocery stores.

No, but the buy a membership then return idea works well. The membership desk shouldn't hassle you for it either. Just say you were not satisfied.

Another thing you can do if you know an existing member is have them buy you a Costco gift card of any amount. You can get in the door with this card.

At the register tell them you are not a member and received a gift card for Christmas and you would like to use it to make your purchase. They will let you make your purchase. It is company policy (trust me, I work there), even if there is only $0.01 on the gift card, which they will not know until you swipe. Then put the remainder on a debit card. I'm not sure if they will allow you to use an AMEX (only credit card they accept in stores).

The longer flat boxes are about 5.5 ft x 2.5 ft. They just fit into my rav4 with the back seats down and the front seats pushed up alittle. They are freakin heavy though. One weighs 180 lbs and the other is 150. Then the third is about 3 x 2 ft.

Can anyone confirm the approx sizes of the boxes at Costco... I'm trying to see if this will fit in the vehicle or not.

The measured sizes of the two longer boxes are 30"x69"x5".

As someone already posted, the box with the drawers is about 18"x18"x36".

mackdown 01-24-2012 05:24 PM

blin 01-24-2012 05:25 PM

I just got one at the Westminster, CO Costco. As of 5 pm there were 2 more available at $199. Near Denver the Aurora, Superior, and Sheridan stores have 2 or 3 each but at $399. None at Thornton or Arvada.

I cant verify that they have it for that price. If only someone take a picture or so

I forgot to take a picture of the tag, but I've attached a copy of the receipt.

The system did not update with the new price. The cashier had someone checked the tag and manually changed the price. So the receipt shows"MGR OVERRD". There were two or three sets left when I bought it.

That is awesome, I think I should try to pricematch. Would be weird if I come in and got shot down since this is not a normal retail store =P

Costco held one for me while I drove from Detroit to Toledo, OH store. As of 2pm EST they had 3 left. I didnt ask when I arrived at 6:30pm but mine was sitting all together on a cart. Took to register, $199.99, loaded it up and back in the D before 8PM.

Awesome deal!! Thanks OP!

The reality is if you have an exec membership, a Costco Amex, and buy a lot of shi*, your membership pays for itself and then some. But whatever.....

My membership MORE than pays for itself on the 2 gallons of milk I buy there each week. It's a whole dollar cheaper at Costco than any local grocery store, so $2 a week x52 weeks = $104 a year in savings on milk alone.

Bought one in San Diego...took the good part of the day to set up. I can't believe we got this thing for $200! I wish it had another shelf under the hutch but I am happy with it. Beware, it shows dust and may scratch easily. Over time, the melamine may peel away...probably why it was discontinued. Great buy though. TU!

pun1sh3rz 01-25-2012 07:30 AM

There were four left in Arundel Mills, MD. Costco after I purchased mine yesterday afternoon, they are priced at $200. Believe it or not, we fit this unit (in the boxes still) into our 2011 Corolla. Tight fit, but we managed, can't wait to use the desk!

SMRZ 01-25-2012 10:24 AM

Called Arvada Costco this morning. Did not have any stock.

Aurora and Englewood CO still have it at $400.

slickkaphina 01-25-2012 12:51 PM

Costco in Morrow, GA (south Atlanta) has 4 left...

TonyG 01-25-2012 05:26 PM

Columbus is all out, sold the last one hours before I got there. Anyone know of any other places in Cincy or Cleveland?

Banita72 01-25-2012 07:40 PM

Bought one in Niles, IL for 200$. Thanks.

If you're in NEOhio, there are 2 at the Mayfield store for $199.xx (as of 15 minutes to closing this evening). At 10am tomorrow there will be only 1 since that is when I will be there picking mine up =)

smallshannen 01-29-2012 10:24 PM

anyone have problems finding the assembly instructions for this? opened both boxes and the drawers and do not see them. In box 1 I took out everything and do not see it and in box 2 I just lifted up the pieces together underneath with no luck. Not in the drawers either. Think I'm gonna complain to Costco about this - see what I can get out of it. Not on the website either - pretty annoying. thanks for any help...

The instructions and tools/parts were in the pre-assembled file cabinet bottom drawer of box 3/3. I hope that helps! If you cannot find them, call the mfr number on the box.
