You do not Need to be a Costco member to purchase them online but you do need to create a new account with them and you will be charged 4 $ extra ....NOT TRUE
Put the desired quantity of tickets in your cart, and go to checkout. Fill out the new registration, as if you were joining, with an email address and everything. THEN add 111778159721 on the Membership ID line. Thanks Worldco for the number.

Gold Ticket
*Covers price of NORMAL ticket (you will be charged whatever upcharge there is for 3D, IMAX, or IMAX 3D)
*No Restrictions (meaning you can use even for movies that say 'no passes')
*No expiration date

I bought 10 2 packs of these tickets at Costco Galleria in Houston. The greeter at the door had one of the cardboard sales vouchers. Inside, there were a bunch of vouchers on display near the front entrance. You only need one voucher, then tell the cashier the quantity that you want to purchase. Per, a Costco manager type, there is NO LIMIT, but there IS A LIMIT OF 10 rebates per member. At checkout, there was NO SALES TAX CHARGED!! The physical tickets are located in the secure storage area, and a manager type hands out the tickets and initials the sales slip over the line showing the tickets sold.

Actually buying at local store 2-pack for $12 is cheaper upto 10 packs (i.e. 10 tickets for $60 compared to $63 online). Here is the link at costco website, showing the prices.

if you do the math its only $3.04 cents to ship so its worth if your local costco doesnt have the special.

Do gold tickets still work even though when showtimes mention no passes like moviefone?

Rep for some help.

Do these AMC Gold Experience tickets have an expiration date?

Edit: Nm - didn't read the OP closely enough - looks like they don't expire. Thanks for the heads up!

There are no restrictions on the gold tickets and they dont expire. Only catch is 3D movies you gotta pay extra. Regular movies you're good Silver tickets you gotta wait a few days( I believe 10?) and then you can watch the new releases. Regular price is 15.99$ so this is 4$ off. Select Costco locations though

I went to a matinee for the first time in years the other day. All the old people kept complaining how long the previews went on for and then talked through the whole movie.

What?!?!?!? You guys are LUCKY! The following are the prices at the AMC near me:

Adult: $10.50 - After 4:00 pm

Child: $7.50 - Age 2 - 12

Matinee: $8.50 - Before 3:55 pm

Senior: $9.50 - Age 60+

So, this price is GREAT even for matinee for me! I took advantage of this offer the first time it came around and haven't used them all yet, so I will pass this time (hoping it will come around again in several months when I don't have so many tickets left).

the_m_factor 01-26-2012 08:57 PM

AMC Gold tickets carry a value up to $12. So for shows like 3D, IMAX, etc., you pay the difference. That is how one can calculate how much extra they will be charged when they use this.

Hope this helps.

That is not my experience. Every time I've visited a Costco or BJ's I've been shocked at many of the "deals". Yes, there are some bargains to be had, but you really have to know your prices to avoid overpaying for some things as much as you save on others.

Between that, the membership fees, and the insane lines I've been much happier doing most of my shopping from home and elsewhere.

you don't need a Costco membership to buy, you can use a cash card to make purchases without one. It will require a sup approval though.

aznb0y 01-26-2012 09:23 PM

damitt no costco around here in ny...stupid bjs card is worthless!! anyone not buying it mind letting me borrow your id# lols

nvm you could actually still buy it but they charge a fee of $8.30....still better than paying $12 a ticket in nyc....in for two 10packs! repped

Edit: in for two more since there's no restriction for non-members, now a total of four 10packs.....damn you slickdeals

I bought gold tickets for $4 a while back from another deal, and when i saw an IMAX matinee, i had to pay $5 surcharge for IMAX, even though i think the total was $12 or so.

I believe the site is based on EST so you can already buy it online I think. For those of you waiting for the price to drop, the $20 off doesn't apply until you checkout. Don't miss out!!

It has already been stated that the gold tickets cover the price of what a NORMAL ticket would cost (not IMAX, 3D, or IMAX 3D) At my theater, the upcharges are $4 for 3D, $5 for IMAX, and $6 for IMAX 3D. When you go to an AMC, you pay the normal ticket price PLUS extra for any of the above items. So, make sure you think of what just a normal ticket costs you at your AMC to see if this is a good deal for you.

Glacier 01-26-2012 10:11 PM

Thanks.... did not want to take the chance they would be out of stock at our Costco so just ordered online. Got skunked on the other AMC deal so was glad to see this come along!

This is a GREAT Price for AMC Gold Tickets!
Making it a mere $6.30/a movie

Yes, Gold Tickets will get you into ALL Movies, including Premiers.

Depending on the theater that you go too, you will be asked to pay $1-$4 more extra for a 3D movie and/or an IMAX movie. :shake:

Still much cheaper than the $11-$15 regular ticket price.

Enjoy the movies!

georgelucas45 01-26-2012 11:38 PM

Does costco charge tax on the online orders? If not the $63 ten pack will work out cheaper than 10 two packs B&M + Tax (At least here in CA)

The majority of moviegoers don't go to matinees before noon. I have plenty of things that I'd rather be doing earlier in the day and going that early kinda defeats the purpose of dinner and movie with the wife. Even if I wanted to go that early, matinee ticket prices are $9.00 here, regardless of how early you attend before 4:00 PM. Regular movie ticket prices are $11.00, and I expect them to jump to $11.50 or $12.00 this year. $6.30 for a movie ticket that never expires and has no restrictions is the definition of a slick deal.

I wasn't charged tax for my online order. Considering I'm in NJ and Costco has tons of warehouses here, it looks like they don't charge tax for tickets.

Edit: Sorry for the double post. Surprised the site doesn't have an auto-merge feature.

Would have gone to the store to save $6, but lol forget dealing with the craziness that is costco weekends. People, People Everywhere! With their shopping carts stopping right in the middle to go look at something or moving as slow as possible. Once my brother waited 3 minutes to get some milk cause these people were blocking it and couldn't decide if they wanted 1% or 2%. Then when he said, excuse me (so he could grab his milk), they looked at him like he was being impatient.

In for 2 10 packs! :D

Costco charges tax on AMC Gold passes in the store?

cwolf 01-27-2012 12:35 AM

Just got 2 and pay 126.
Just think of the difficulty of parking and line up paying for the item, I rather pay $6 for uncertainty whether tax on B&M.
Besides, need to get in another line to collect ticket after pay.

they do for other products but there is not tax for the movie ticket coupons at B&M costco or anywhere you would get them. Same as if you were at a theatre they don't charge tax on a movie.

yup the dollar amount that goes to your stub membership account depends on the cost of the movie at the particular time of day at the particular theatre u went to.

armywifeof4 01-27-2012 12:43 AM

awesome deal, getting 2, hubby has excuse as to why he pay full price 2 c a movie. LOL thanks OP!

Adult: $10.50 - After 4:00 pm

Child: $7.50 - Age 2 - 12

Matinee: $8.50 - Before 3:55 pm

Senior: $9.50 - Age 60+

So, this price is GREAT even for matinee for me! I took advantage of this offer the first time it came around and haven't used them all yet, so I will pass this time (hoping it will come around again in several months when I don't have so many tickets left).

12.50 for adult ticket. Over $25 for 2 people to see a dumb movie.

I'm splitting with a co-worker (6/4) ... at $6.30 a ticket it's a good deal even if you only see a few movies a year.

Night for 2 out for under $13 if you sneak in your own snacks - can't really be beat.

I got these the last time they were on sale and will be pickup up some more this weekend. My wife and I go to at least one movie every week. Thans for the heads up.

DoomoArigatoo 01-27-2012 03:57 AM

Has anyone actually tried getting more than the limit? (By purchasing instore and online or two separate online orders?) I know someone mentioned it might be that limit per day somewhere in the thread, but is anything really confirmed?
TIA

TrystinJ 01-27-2012 04:15 AM

Go figure they don't have any AMC theaters here

wanderingwillow 01-27-2012 04:28 AM

Is a Costco membership really worth it?

taiwan 01-27-2012 04:40 AM

I don't find the gold tickets better than the silver. Sure, there are less restrictions with gold but it's really easy to bypass. For example, if you're to watch "no pass" movies or first week showing, just go in with different show. There is only one exception, that's in theater that has dining too (like the one in Disney Orlando) where out-of-pocket cost difference is huge between gold and silver. Nevertheless, $6 is usually what I paid for silver so this deal is good.

Look at it this way, just the savings from this deal will pay for the one year membership and so the rest of the savings by purchasing at costco is all bonus.

shelleyr25 01-27-2012 04:47 AM

Thanks, my location opens at 10am, I will be the first one at the door!!! Matinee movies are $6 here but these will mostly be used by my kids who go at night so its a great deal for me, thanks :)

Pitcom 01-27-2012 04:59 AM

We go to Regal because all movies before 12am are $5.00. So we usually go at the 11 oc lock showings on the weekends. AMC got rid of all their pre-noon movie times in my area so the 12-4pm price is $7.50. Plus there are never large crowds at the earlier movies. This is a good deal but it is not all that great. This is only a good deal for people who go to late movies all of the time and pay full price.

Unfortunately it went up to $60 this year. We do use it for certain things....I think we get our money's worth just from the samples!

Their customer service can't be beat - my daughter dropped my husband's new I-pod in water, and they gave him a new one. He told them it was dropped in water and they said "I don't care if it was run over by a car - it's within 30 days...."

Why think like that when most theater will let you change ticket or watch different movie if you don't like what you see? I've done that many times when movie sucked in the beginning 10 minutes and they allowed me to watch a different one. As long as you leave when your ticketed movie ends then the theater won't have any problem with you. The only thing is it does screw up the box office numbers when the movie you wanted to watch isn't counted, but who cares?

alissa929 01-27-2012 06:06 AM

This deal is good. Of course for the IDIOTS who messed up the $60 no tax, no ship deal the other day makes this deal $7 more. I purchased this of course, reps to OP but a huge thumbs down to whoever messed up the other legit site :(

taiwan 01-27-2012 06:12 AM

Does anyone know if the surcharge (3D, IMAX,...etc) is less on gold AMCicket than it is on silver AMC ticket?

I know the difference for Disney downtown AMC dining and movie is over $10 between the gold and silver.

Marmaleenie 01-27-2012 06:12 AM

I'd be in for 1 if our theaters didn't cost $6 per ticket normally.

The movie theater gets a higher percentage of the movie ticket price after the movie has been released for a few weeks, which is why they can afford to sell silver tickets for less.

Mike_Hawk 01-27-2012 06:25 AM

People still go to the theaters? :scratchh:

Unless you've purchased from that site, or personally know someone who has (i.e. not a shill who signed up within the last 2 days), how do you know it was legit?

I have personally purchased from them. I also do not believe that they would shut their entire site down, mention it was due to SD and it not be legitimate. Their facebook fans are not happy either. The site is not fake at all.

I would say yes, but I imagine Costco is limiting the orders based on member #. Unless someone is only buying one 10-pack, I don't think you're going to find anyone who is willing, or even able, let you use their #.

No, I don't believe you can use it for that event as it has its own price structure due to it being a special event where the price is for multiple movies.

Pricing:
Day One Ticket Pass (February 18 – 4 Films): $30
Day Two Ticket Pass (February 25 – 5 Films): $40
Two-Day Ticket Pass (February 18 & 25 – 9 Films): $60. Available only at the box office of participating locations.

I have two questions and will rep for help:

1) Can these be used at United Artists theaters? (I think they are same company)

2) I am not a member. If I buy 2 sets of 10 tickets (20 total) in my cart at the same time, do I pay $4 fee for the purchase or $8 (since I got 2 sets)?

1. Unless someone knows something I don't, the answer is no. Gold tickets can be used at: "AMC theatres, AMC Loews, AMC Showplace, Cineplex Odeon, Magic Johnson and Star theatres, excluding Canadian Theatres"

2. You get charged $4/set, so $8 total.

matt00926 01-27-2012 07:47 AM

Awesome deal!!! I got this the last time Costco was doing the promo too! Happens nearly each year.

I pay 11.75 normally for each AMC movie ticket at the box office or online @ fandango, etc.
Now I pay 6.70! Seriously a steal, I save $50 on movie tickets, and also because I have AMC stubs, i get rewards points even for using the movie tickets! Win win deal.

But don't they add the rewards points at the ticket window? You bypass the ticket window with these things. Where would you add points? At least that's how it worked with moviewatcher. BTW, is stubs worth it? Isn't there a cost to belong?

No you dont. You have to go to the ticket window to say which movie you are going to. You get your ticket and pay with the gold ticket. Thus you get points.

I figure these can bypass the ticket window, but I still go up to it anyway and get real "stubs" and they add I think $7 or $8 to my stubs account, which is the "minimum price" i guess of a movie ticket, which is still better than nothing and more than what I paid.

As for stubs, I got it for free for 1 year because I was in the movie watcher club, but honestly I don't think I'll mind forking over $12 for another year when the trial is done. Its basically a "reward zone" type deal where if you spend $100, you get $10 back. Plus theres deals for stubs only, like the free ICEE deal they did, and also if you buy a small popcorn with a stubs card, or small drink, you get a "teensy bit" bigger popcorn or soda, lol. The difference is so abysmal at my local theatre, but hey, at least I get my 10 or so extra popcorn kernels per bag lmfao

rob0227 01-27-2012 08:10 AM

If you REALLY want more than two 10 packs then all you have to do is register for a new account and pay an additional $4.15 per 10pack, which I thought it was still worth it compared to nyc ticket prices. Ordered four 10packs myself so this should definately last me for awhile lol

Obviously, though the deal loses some of the luster (just some; we're still talking about $6.70 vs. $11.00 after all) if you have to pay the non-member surcharge. I'm not interested in grabbing more than two though; just curious to see if Costco is enforcing its own limitations

momtoo3 01-27-2012 08:45 AM

Not sure if mine was a fluke, was a costco member but my membership showed expired/invalid. I clicked around a few times, it disappeared, showed up, then disappeared at final checkout.

Only cost me this much as a non-member according to my receipt

Order Total: $62.99

Thanks OP

No tax on gift cards and movie tickets at costco. 15.99 is 15.99. In this case, 11.99 is 11.99. Driving out to a costco also allows you to do some shopping as well so thats a plus!

Nice deal, the no tax is a nice touch for those who have to pay the non membership surcharge. Still a great price compared to $12 my local AMC charges and also it stacking with the Stubs ($10 credit every $100 spent) sweetens the deal.

Wow this is great. Thanks for posting!

fujirio 01-27-2012 09:14 AM

Also remember online you can use almost any credit card

I put this deal on my discover

JamesDeal21 01-27-2012 09:14 AM

Does anyone know if i can use these tickets for the AMC Fork and Screen? More specifically online?

The reason I ask is because when order the Fork and Screen tickets online on Fandango, you get to select your seats. and that is important to do, because all the good seats are reserved online way in advance.

Tks

Thanks, OP! Bought a 10 pack.

I did called my local Costco and they don't sell the 10 pack (it's online only) and they are sold out on the 2-pack deal.

Do you know if they add tax for the tickets in store?

mikenmike0001 01-27-2012 09:26 AM

why would you want to buy the 10 pack for $63 when you can get 5 2-packs for $60?

As far as I know, yes. Assuming your Fork and Screen tickets cost more than standard admission, you'll have to pay the difference (much like the IMAX/3D surcharge). You won't be able to use them if you're paying online though unless you can convince the theater to credit your card once they receive your gold ticket. If it's simply a matter of you reserving your seats online and then paying when you pick up your tickets, then my original comments apply.

Because some of us don't want to bother with the drive, the lines, and the gas. Some warehouses also don't sell the 2-pack or have any left in stock. All things considered, an extra $3 for the added convenience is worth it.

iandyli 01-27-2012 09:29 AM

Thanks OP! Purchased 10-pack online since my local area Costcos no longer carry 2-pack.

As the person posted above, you goto the window and tell them what movie you want to see. They scan your Stubs card, take your gold tickets, and give you your movie tickets.

I feel that stubs is worth it if you go to movies at all (unless you only go once or twice a year). And it is especially worth it if you buy concessions (drink, popcorn, etc.), too. Stubs goes by dollar amount. Once you have spent $100, you get $10 put on your stubs card. The $10 expires in 90 days. You can use it to purchase tickets or on concessions. Please note that they not only include the ticket price towards the $100 spent, but also any concessions you buy!! Moviewatcher only went by tickets bought. The cost is $12 per year for Stubs. With the gold tickets, they do still scan your Stubs card and you will get the full ticket price that you would have been charged going towards your $100 spend on Stubs.

I hope that made sense...

Make sure you check your balance yourself online to be safe. I thought it worked like old movie watchers program. It doesn't. When you earn the 10 if you don't check online you have no way of knowing it is there. It's loaded onto your card and not used unless you ask the attendant to check for it and use it. I lost 10 bucks that way. I called and talked to stubs about it and they said the only way to know is to check online, it will not be automatically applied if it is there. (you may have had different experience, I'm repeating what stubs csr told me.)

I am also doing the free year membership. And I did get some free popcorn, soda, candy coupons along the way, and concession upgrades the few times we did that, so I'll live and lesson learned. But i have had emails offering me 6 dollars to renew for 12 months so I suspect you will be able to renew for 6 at some point as well. I just am not sure if I am renewing and have a few months to go so have held off.
