Samsung UN55D8000 55-inch 1080p 240Hz 3D LED HDTV + Samsung BDD5500 Blu-ray Player + 4 Pairs of 3D Glasses for $1799 + Tax @ Fry's B&M

So I went into Fry's this evening and picked up the following for $1,799.00 + sales tax (Plano, TX store).

-Samsung UN55D8000 55-inch 1080p 240Hz 3D LED HDTV
-Samsung BDD5500 Blu-ray Player (3D)
-4 Pairs of 3D Glasses total (including the 2 in the TV box, so 4 total Samsung brand 3D glases)

I realize some people may have gotten a better price on the Amazon PM to Newegg deal- but this is the best I've seen at a B&M for this set and options (i.e. no shipping required). Maybe this will be in Fry's add tomorrow and they loaded into their computer this evening?

My total after TX sales tax is $1,947.42. They also offered 12 month 0% interest, which I bit on (at 0% interest, why not?).

This is a good deal. But the tv alone at frys.com is on sale for $1929 plus shipping so not good for pricematch with amazon since it's not online.

I just bought this TV from amazon pricematched to newegg plus the 10% for a total of $1627 (yes, I was one of the lucky ones to get the 10% and the pricematch). Not saying this to say this is a bad deal, this is still a great deal with the bundle.

What I don't understand is why there are so many retailers with this tv on a bundle with this blu-ray player and glasses for free and then amazon and newegg both have this TV for over $1800 (actually for over $2000 right now) and it's not a even a bundle. I wish I had gotten a bundle for the $1627, not just the TV, but I guess I'm satisfied with just the TV, just wish I had gotten more, true slickdealer here.

I wish the free blu-ray and glasses was some kind of samsung promotion offering this instead so that the people that just buy the TV by itself, will also have a way of getting more glasses and blu-ray player for free. But I guess I'm out of luck.

Holyfield 01-26-2012 08:55 PM

Updated the quantity of 3D glasses to 4. I thought they were two packs, but it is 4 3D glasses total.

Sure the Amazon deal was 'slicker' based on TV price alone- but it didn't come with the 3D blu ray player and extra glasses. I'm a bit 'scared' of having the TV shipped just from hearing horror stories, so I don't mind eating the 8.25% sales tax.

BuddhaTB 01-26-2012 09:35 PM

Very good deal for those wanting to buy from a B&M store.

crushna 01-26-2012 09:43 PM

Man ....tax kills

scarface_ 01-26-2012 09:48 PM

i got this TV at 1800 from amazon during them black friday sales. Only thing that sucks is amazon does not support this tv. I dont get it???? This high end of a tv and you can't stream nothing from amazon to this tv.

How it compared with LG 55LW6500 240Hz 3D LED HDTV?

The Sammy has more accurate color representation and deeper blacks. The Sammy 8000 and Panasonics VT30 are the top picture quality TVs of the year.

LG uses passive 3d. (glasses you see in theaters). Its has its pros and cons)
Sammy uses active 3d

The VT30 is a great Plasma.. I got the 55" and love it..

However, saying that the Sammy D8000 is 'top PQ' of the year is a pretty bold statement with the Sony XBR-xx HX929 [ full array backlit with Local Dimming and more dimming zones than the Sammy B8500 ] kills the Samsung [and pretty much ANY LED TV in the market right now except the Sharp Elite], and is at par [with occasionally better blacks  ] with the VT30!!

From Thanks Giving to Christmas this TV bundle had great deal in best buy.
They even reduced price to 1846+tax one day.

I bought it for 1904 + NJ Tax - 2040
Shop Discover - 10% - $190
Best-buy Rewards: - $35
Price-match- they reduced price to 1846 one day and got a refund of $60 for the same.
Costco square trade warranty: $100

2040 - 190 - 35 - 60 + 100 = $1855

Holyfield 01-27-2012 09:39 AM

One of those CC Discover deals or whatever may work on this deal. I don't have one, so I have no idea if there is anything to sweeten it up.

Fry's new ads this week have the UN55D7000 on special per page 6:

http://www.frys.com/ads/page6

$2,229 before 'in store savings'. I have no idea what makes this special, as my 8000 deal was wayyy better. I also don't know what the in store savings are... this doesn't appear to include the 3D Blu Ray Player and extra 3D glasses.

Anyone else try to cash in on the UN55D8000 deal that I got?

rtesta 01-27-2012 09:46 AM

I tried to order the same deal online at frys.com: UN55D8000+BD Player+2 xtra glasses
The TV is listed at $1799.00, but no mention of extras. I do not see it in today's ad either.

Anyone else visit a Fry's B&M to verify deal?
Fry's will likely have a 1-Day sale tomorrow too (Saturday).

JimmmyD 01-27-2012 10:03 AM

I called (never a good idea) you can get the TV for the 1799.00 but thats it.. No player no glasses except for the ones in the box.

Just unsuccessfully tried to get this deal at City of Industry.

I was told that I could PM the $1799.99 for the TV only. The extras weren't included in the PM since they aren't mentioned anywhere on frys.com.

Does anyone know if the blu-ray player and glasses are included you buy from frys.com and do in-store pickup?

Holyfield 01-27-2012 12:17 PM

Hm strange, they offered the extras... I didn't even bring it up. I'll scan my invoice later for everyone if you want to try to PM or need proof when I get home. $1,799 for the TV alone (IMO) is decent, but the extras are what make it slick.

Do you know who had this deal yesterday? I saw it go FP, got busy but I can't find it now.

It was the same deal but different store so CA residents don't pay tax. Now I can't find it???

The deal was from B&H Photo Video for $1899.95

ambercrombe 01-27-2012 12:53 PM

what would the Sony equivalent of this Samsung model in terms of features?

Holyfield 01-27-2012 01:50 PM

K I added page 1 of my receipt from the Fry's trip yesterday evening to the Wiki.

rtesta 01-28-2012 11:00 PM

We may be able to cash in on this deal yet. Fry's just posted the Sunday 1-Day ad. It lists the UN55D8000 + Blu-Ray Player + 2 (additional) glasses for $2628 Before additional in-store savings.
Fry's Ad [frys.com]

Price on web for TV alone = $1799.00 - PM'ers, have at it.
I'll check out the San Diego store on Sunday.

Samsung UN55D8000 55-inch 1080p 240Hz 3D LED HDTV + Blu-ray Player + 2 Pairs of 3D Glasses for $1799.99

I've been keeping an eye on this TV for months - best price I've seen with Blu-ray and Glasses. Awesome LED TV!

at Fry's B&M. Local Ad says $2628 BEFORE in-store savings - For those not familiar, this is just how Fry's advertsises it's deals. You have to go to the store or ask what the price is - also makes it harder to price match.

Total price is $1799 + sales Tax

This deal may only be regional in California Fry's locations - check your store first

Anyone else move on this deal? This TV is awesome. It's actually the same size as my old Panasonic 50" plasma- its just that the 55" picture goes all the way to the edge whereas my old Panny plasma had a 2" border on each side.

hitechgurl 01-30-2012 01:23 AM

They had this deal at Fry's electronics B&M store (one day sale) on Sunday (1/29/2012) only. Great price and awesome tv. I got one and so far I love it. Thanks
