staples owns quill.

ba$$fan 03-02-2012 08:19 PM

Don't feel like looking but quills has it for $129.99? Not for sure from your post. Then you're turning your $30 off coupon into $40 and getting the monitor for $89?

Quill sells it for $119.99, it was a typo ... fixed.
Thanks!

How do you use $30 off $150 on a $119.99?

lrunkle911 03-02-2012 08:26 PM

i doubt they will let you use a $30 off $150 coupon if you pricematch to under 150. may have to get some filler items to use it.but getting $30 of filler items to save $30 (after buying a coupon).

Right. Nice try- but this just isn't going to happen.

But OP, don't get discouraged. It really was a great try for your first post. I like the way you think- keep it up.

It's not a nice try, I did it :)
You apply the coupon first, then PM
I've attached a screen shot of the email confirmation I received.
I've also saved my chat session with "Tina" to get the PM to XPS, attached

sensazn 03-02-2012 09:22 PM

BigGirLoca 03-02-2012 09:26 PM

1920x1200 monitor, this isn't your garden variety 1080p monitor.

Specs are listed wrong on Quill, it's 1920x1080.

Ah, I see that now.

I was thinking about it, but these really aren't any better than the A231H that I picked up.

i'm starting to wonder if i'll ever see an led 23" monitor at this price

Troupster 03-03-2012 12:06 AM

Does anyone want to swap a 30 off 150 code? I'm looking for one that does not start with 94957 or 37649.

It works, sometimes. It's standard practice (apply coupon, pricematch) and is YMMV.

xxxHolic 03-03-2012 12:30 AM

No hdmi :crying:?

No speakers, doesn't NEED an HDMI port. But I guess if it's the only output you have from your computer it might be a relevant observation.

darquis 03-03-2012 02:36 AM

I don't understand why they'd let you do both - I mean, it's their company, do whatever, but the coupon should negate the PM, or vice versa.

Other than the PM dropping the price below 150, why would one negate the other? They are two separate things(PM and coupon).

BigGirLoca 03-03-2012 05:22 AM

Just called in and asked for the price match after I ordered it online. I got the same result as the OP. $54.75 credit in 3 business days.
$169.99-30.00+11.72(tax)=$151.71

$151.71-54.75=$96.96

If the price of the monitor is good enough you can always buy a HDMI -> DVI adapter from Monoprice.com for $3: http://www.monoprice.com/products...1&format=2

<$100 for a true 1080 LED is pretty decent if your willing to call and PM.

babom2004 03-03-2012 05:50 AM

just placed an order and PM with CS over the phone. repped

Chad1985 03-03-2012 06:28 AM

I just ordered the Acer 23" from staples, followed the instructions (place order using coupon, then call for PM). Jim from staples gave me the PM for 119.99 but could not apply the 30 off 150 since the price dropped below 150 so im at 119.99. YMMV.

Edit: Good call Goat saver, I used the 25 off 100 so it came to around $100 with tax. Awesome.

flatline1243 03-03-2012 06:47 AM

worked for me! I was just hoping "Jim" was not the one to answer the phone... and he wasn't! :)

In total the order was just under $100

There are $25 off $100 coupons available as well, if you're concerned about running into Jim on the phone. I bought one of those from hotcoupon4u for $1.49, haven't submitted my order yet, but the coupon code was accepted.

Edit: Just got off the phone, used the $25 off $100 coupon, price match = $54.25 refund. The coupon was $1 cheaper than the $30 off $150, so total $4 extra to avoid the above situation.

you are wrong buddy, staples system will refund the difference pre coupon so you are good :)

Can't find this monitor on Quill

nealb 03-03-2012 07:21 AM

I've been monitor shopping a lot this past week. For those who don't know, since screen quality is getting very good across the board, the manufacturers are differentiating the less expensive models by not including VESA mount holes and also by making the VGA/DVI/HDMI cables protrude at a 90-degree angle to the back of the monitor. I can't find a pic of the back of this model anywhere online, but at least 75% of sub-$200 monitors I've looked at recently are NOT wall-mountable due to both lack of mounts and obstructive wiring configuration.

If you plan to mount this, be aware.

Tiinbe 03-03-2012 07:46 AM

Looks like Staples takes some action about this.

Because with the PM, it's below the coupon threshhold, and with the coupon, it's only 10 bucks different from who you're PMing.

I just searched through Quill's Acer monitors and didn't see it listed.

flatline1243 03-03-2012 08:02 AM

well if quill is indeed owned by staples I think I know why its no longer listed ;)

sstalev 03-03-2012 09:45 AM

Dead deal in 3 pages. Oh wells. Good find for all those that got one in time.

darkclownjoe 03-03-2012 12:42 PM

Thanks op!
I used a $25 off $100 and I'm paying $104.30 total after tax.

And to think I was just about to spend $140 before tax on a 21.5 inch!
