good thing you posted this. i was about to get a gift card.
|
I redeemed 5000 for the uncharted vita game last week damn it.
|
lol these things always pop up right after you redeem for something ahaha
|
Lol, they charge tax. Is that even legal? No moeny is involved before the tax ...
|
$50 PS network code doesn't seem to be a gift card. Would be easy to Ebay.
|
got the wifi blu ray player for 6000 points....almost free with this not bad lol
|
I only had around 3900 points, but the deal of the day is the BDPS185 blu-ray player for 5999 points (it's around $79 on Amazon). Bought the balance of the points for $26 total, including tax and will end up with more points than I started with after the bonus hits the account.
I've never had a blu-ray player, but was already looking at buying a drive for a planned HTPC build. Bought this instead (for $25 less than a drive) and will now keep the HTPC ultra small. I have Amazon Prime so this seems like an ok player for blu-ray watching and Amazon streaming. |
i hope the blu ray player isnt too shitty...
|
wow thanks man, redeeming for PSN card :)
|
do not have a sony card

I swear, rewards site getting hammered. Still waiting for them to put the vita up for cheaper :)
|
what to buy and sell? uncharted abyss game for the vita a good buy?
|
just redeemed for ARCO gas card last week. :(((
|
I've done some reading, but I hope someone else has done more than me. It appears there is an offer for 5,000 bonus points for your first purchase with a Sony Rewards Card. Could we expect to sign up for a card, be accepted, get the card, and make a purchase in a reasonable time frame to get these 5k points with which to redeem for another 5k points for a total of 10k basically free points minus some small purchase with the card?
|
Apply for Sony Rewards ( If you dont have one ) here and get 5000 points!
http://www.sonyrewards.com/en/gat...4647196727 You get 5000 points for the first purchase, then redeem 5000 points and get another 5000 points! |
need 1 point filler item..

Just got the email. It's 5,000 points in the store or can it be buy any sony product and file a claim to use the points?
Trying to find some good games... Sadly not too many. |

I used up all my points on their gift cards last week
|
Hmm.. GT5 or Uncharted 3...

I'm trying to find out in PSN cards count as a gift card. I need to feed my Rock Band collection... |
Bleh... everything is so over priced, and taxed too boot. And then freakn site is slow and buggy.
|
26K points total for the Vita WiFi.... pretty tempting since nothing else is really intriguing... anyone else in a similar predicament?
|
Let me make sure I have this straight:
1 - I sign up for the PlayStation credit card 2 - make a purchase 3 - get 5,000 points 4 - redeem the 5,000 points on Sony Rewards 5 - get another 5,000 points Correct? Also, how many points is the Vita? It doesn't tell you unless you log in? *Edit* Looks like the WiFi Vita is 26K points. Which is basically $260. That's more than MSRP. Lame. What about the 3G Vita? |
Can't browse rewards on their site now. Maybe slickdeals effect.
|
Just redeem for PSN points, not a gift card
buy your vita elsewhere and use psn points to buy games |

Now I'm probably just going to get a PS3 game to flip it. Uncharted and Twisted Medal seem like the best choices for that actually. |
what's the quickest way to turn this into cash
|
Called 3 times. 2 said network codes won't qualify. 1 didn't know
|
I have a Sony Card with more than enough points to cover this and I'm still having trouble picking something, these rewards prices are outrageous!

Stupid question here:
"Only one 5,000 bonus points offer will be awarded per Sony Card member." I have 2 different sony card, does this mean i can redeem two 5,000 points (one for each card)? |
Glad that this deal helped you people out!!! Thanks for pushing me over 600...
|
you guys think they might restock the store with more goodies before the deal is over? we have almost a month for the deal and lots of stuff is out of stock. i just hope they dont cut the deal short or something... but that would seem to violate terms or something?
|
Good deal. Too bad I don't have enough points in my account. Doesn't help that I never use their card anymore. It just unfortunately doesn't have the same appeal as cash back, unless you really like Sony products.
|
just cashed out for ps3 uncharted bundle 2 wks ago, dang....it seems like they havent been restocking any of the ps3 bundles, prolly gonna dump the card after i graduate. Points have been on the decline as well as them restocking good stuff like tv, and stuff
|
ok. so I just got enrolled and bought 6500 points (bought it with $65) worth of games.
But I don't see I got the 5000 bonus points anywhere. Any ideas where we can check if everything went through ok? |

Saw this in my email and just deleted it because I didn't want to deal with it at first, lol. Good thing I saw this thread.
|
can i redeem the points at the store?
|
I've scoured the sony rewards site quite a bit. the $45 bookshelf speakers and a $9 dvd would work well but already have those speakers. The A35 camera is about $50 less than amazon at $495 worth of points, but i'm not in the market. I wish that blu-ray player was still available... Passing for now, i'll check the deal of week/day until the deadline though.
|
i just purchased an iphone doc... seemed like a decent deal for 7500 points or so... had 6000, so just ended up paying around $15 for the doc... sounded good to me!
|
I am eyeing the PS Move Controller which is 4999 pre-tax. Called in but the Rep wasnt sure if that qualifies and put in a ticket.
|
Quote:
|
I was wondering, does the 5000 point redemption bonus has to be one item that totals at least 5K or more, or can be more than 1 item that adds up to 5K? Let me know thanks
|
Is it pre-tax or post tax 5000? So if I get something that is 4,900 points and is 5200 with tax, what counts?
|
Nice, after I logged in all prices end with a 9. And the fine print doesn't say "excluding tax points" either.
|
Got a 7" portable dvd player for the car for 7200 plus stupid tax... 7800 total i think. But still for under 3k points for it delivered, i'd say it is worth it... since my parents wanted one (actually asked for one just before i saw this deal)...
|
Quote:
|
got myself the sony bluetooth keyboard for the tablet. Should have just gotten the blu ray player for my fathers bday but oh well! came out to 5800 points, so 800 pts for a keyboard aint bad!
|

|
thx. got a new ps3 controller
|
Side question. If I buy something with the card and want to fill the purchase request form, does it have to be purchased from the Sony Store or any store as long as it's a Sony Product (ex: Best Buy)?
|
i haven't redeemed anything in ages, and of course, i just did 1 month ago. oh well.
|
i purchased http://www.sonyrewards.com/en//br...3573100733 5,871 points with tax.. so when i get the 5000 points back makes it 871 points.. sweeet
|
alot of us have sony reward cards because you used to get a $200 signup credit..
|
Missed "deal of the week" after I sign up. That was quick.

But they are still not sure about if combination of items counts towards 5000 or not. Ordered Projection Clock/Radio - not bad for 5719 points including Tax. http://www.sonyrewards.com/en/bro...=ICFC717PJ You have to login to see discounted points |

Stumbled across these at FW, 165 points from registering these discs.
WZNNNVBC (30 Mins or Less DVD) MVDPEBTT (Bad Teacher DVD) CF2EL2GN (Drive DVD) F5HZEFTZ (Friends with Benefits BluRay) JQ9H9YG5 (Zookeeper Bluray) |
this is a great deal if you already have points..and should be front page
|
Where did we land on the PSN points conversation? Does it count, because that's what I ordered. If not I need to cancel and order a controller.

It makes sense because I checked the website and it's not in the gift card section, so it must count as a "playstation item." Anyway, i'm all set. |
this is for a single item correct? not multiples that add to $50

Great deal.
I am going to get 2 Vita games and then a third when the 5k credit hits. Getting a Vita through the NFL credit card deal. All in all the vita will set me back around $50 tops. For once I waited and got the deal BEFORE I jumped! |
I too got in on the PSN code....now need to sell it :)
|
I'm wondering if it has to be an item 5000 pts or more, or can we buy several smaller items, so long as they end up being > 5000 pts?
I have a hard time picking any single thing at 5000+ pts, but probably could bundle a couple of small things together. |
I got a $50 points card. Free $50 card that I can craigslist and get the points back. I looked through everything and my 11k points wouldn't get anything that I needed for a reasonable price. I looked at the bluetooth headphones but they were still $68 after using all of my points. I just need some for mowing the lawn and snowblowing so I didn't want to get some nice ones that I could possibly break.

|
Bah it isn't a card it is an e-mailed code...well time to sell it to a friend for cheap I guess.
|
So no one actually uses PSN points in this thread. Everyone wants to sell. Kinda shocking.
How do you guys buy points with credit card prior to checking out? I ask because when you buy points during checkout to fullfill the needed points, it seems to be considered as a credit card transaction. I'm not certain as I didn't complete the transcation. |

Just ordered a $50 PSN code since anything else I wanted is full retail priced (at the 1 cent/point rate). No tax... so 5,000 points even. This is a code, not a gift card (which has its own section), so it should be eligible.
Glad I saw this thread because I had 10,000 points I totally forgot about, and 2,000~ were about to expire. Thanks/reps OP! |
I don't see how the code wouldn't count. It's not a gift card but a product.
Their gift cards and movie tickets are in a separate section of the store so it should be ok |

http://usa.visa.com/signature/ala...#anchor_17 For example a 5 year TV warranty $96.99 before tax for TV's which cost between $ 551.00 - $750.99 (skewd towards being a much better deal for the more expensive items in the range). That's a range of 17.6% - 12.9% of the purchase price ==VS== For example a 5 year TV warranty $58.99 before tax for TV's which cost between $150.00 - $250.99. That's a range of 39% - 23.5% OUCH, not a good deal if you scored a deal for say a $175 TV. So in that case it's better to buy it with a Visa or Amex or MC that doubles the manufacturer's warranty for free (assuming it's got a full year warranty from the manufacturer. Otherwise Square trade and some 20 - 30% off coupons are a good option if you feel you need a warranty. 5 years Cost 1st rows are what the product purchased costs. 2nd row after the = sign is what you pay for the Visa warranty manager service (extended warranty) 3rd rows are the percentages of the original purchase price (not each year) for for the complete 5 years (so divide by 5 to break it up per year - runs concurrently with the manufacturer's warranty) $ 150.00 - 250.99 = $58.99 - 39% - 23.5% $ 251.00 - 400.99 = $68.99 - 27.5% - 17% $ 401.00 - 550.99 = $78.99 - 19.7% - 14% $ 551.00 - 750.99 = $96.99 - 17.6% - 12.9% $ 751.00 - 1,000.99 = $112.99 - 15% - 11.3% $ 1,001.00 - 1,500.99 =$137.99 - 13.8% - 9.2% $ 1,501.00 - 2,000.99 = $189.99 - 12.65% - 9.5% $ 2,001.00 - 2,500.99 = $267.99 - 13.4% - 10.7% $ 2,501.00 - 3,000.99 = $384.99 - 15.4% - 12.8% $ 3,001.00 - 3,500.99 = $436.99 - 14.56% - 12.5% $ 3,501.00 - 4,000.00 = $477.99 - 13.65% - 11.95% ------------- for computers & related peripherals it's even more skewd which is great if you are right near the Upper end of things but sucks if you just get bumped into a much higher cost bracket. Cost 3 years 4 years Rates/Percentage of the Original purchase price (for just the 5 year plans) $ 150.00 - 350.99 $ 42.99 $ 57.99 - (38.7% - 16.5% ) $ 351.00 - 700.99 $ 47.99 $ 66.99 - (19.1% - 9.6%) $ 701.00 - 1,200.99 $ 81.99 $ 122.99 - (17.5% - 10.2%) $ 1,201.00 - 2,000.99 $ 114.99 $ 178.99 - (14.9% - 8.95%) $ 2,001.00 - 3,000.99 $ 164.99 $ 262.99 - (13.1% - 8.76%) $ 3,001.00 - 4,000.99 $ 220.99 $ 355.99 - (11.86% - 8.9%) $ 4,001.00 - 5,000.00 $ 265.99 $ 429.99 - (10.75% - 8.6%) Keep in mind this ISN'T per year, this is for the TOTAL FIVE year time period. So even the rate compared to a most store extended warranties is going to be stellar. They also offer a three year plan for non computer items. Computers & related gear is now either a 3 or a 4 your plan. Bought an extended laptop warranty for the laptop I got my mom for ~$699 in Sept of 09 (I believe) back then they only offered me 4 years for $66.99 + tax. A dollar on the laptop price and it would have nearly DOUBLED the price of the plan to $122 OUCH!!! @ $66.99 though that's ~10% for not one or two years, but a full four years; 3 after the manufacturer's warranty ended. IMO a total bargain. I was unaware (last time I called Discover Card ~ Maybe a year ago they DID NOT offer any extended warranty program or free doubling of the warranty as AMEX, Most Visa, and some MasterCard's now do). Are you sure? I'll check this out as it would be welcome news. I like & rely on Discover Card because they have Online one X use secure CC #'s. They tried to end that program but (I & apparently many many others) emailed them and said we wanted them back & that we'd take our business elsewhere. In fact that wasn't that long ago & I remember emailing them and saying because they DON'T match Visa's warranty doubling I would be shifting my purchases to Visa & Paypal or Google Checkouts when I could. Most Visa's & Amex will double up to a year the manufacturer's warranty. (So a 1 year TV = 2 years.) Though, I've heard some not pleasant stories, most people seem to get hung up when they use a Gift card or store credit, online credit or something like that to pay for part of the purchase. In order to qualify you much make 100% of the purchase with that single CC company (no splitting it between to cards either). |
can people start populating the Wiki with their suggestions on what to buy for 5K points ... anything worth while, interesting items?
|
Sony Rewards use to be great when you can cash out 1:1c for gift cards back in the day.
At the current prices, I still feel ripped off spending 5000 FREE points =\ |
Quote:
and yeah, for any extended warranty to work, make sure you pay 100% of your purchase with the credit card, no partial payment with gift card/store credit etc although i would think coupons are an exception |

Has anyone asked how long the bonus points last? Normal points expire after 5 years but sometimes the bonus points expire after a few months or a year at most,,, is that the case with these 5,000 points? If that's the case then you end up spending 5,000 points now and end up having to rush to spend the 5,000 bonus points too. If anyone can enlighten me on this I'd appreciate it.

Seriously, question why you took the time to do that. Trace the motivation all the way back to the source (if you can). The answer could save your life/soul. What do you have to lose? It's time we started getting honest with ourselves instead of hiding from ourselves. And I don't mean, "Oh, to put a troll in his place." Why did you want to put a troll in his place? Why? What could you possibly gain from doing that? Satisfaction? Why do you get satisfaction from such a thing? All the way back, to its roots. I will warn you, you will need some SERIOUS courage for such a feat, but the juice far outweighs the squeeze. |

Can anyone confirm that the PSN points are fine? On that note, mine haven't shipped yet from monday. |
You can earn points by registering some Sony DVD/Bluray codes. Unlike other studios, Sony doesn't use unique codes, so it looks like we can share.
Sony cardmember gets 45pts/25pts for each BluRay/DVD registered while non-cardmember gets 30pts/15pts. The codes can be found on the paper inserts inside the DVD case. heres some more free extra points when you register these movies JQ9H9YG5 (Zookeeper Bluray) MVDPEBTT (Bad Teacher DVD) WZNNNVBC (30 Mins or Less DVD) CF2EL2GN (Drive DVD) if other people have other movies on the list please post to share! |

You missed Friends with Benefits. |
Wouldn't you know it, I used all my points to order a BDP-S390 on 2/28/12. I got the email from sony about this a few days later and was really irritated that I missed out on this. I don't feel quite as bad now that the price has gone up from 8,999 points ($89.99) to 11,699 points ($116.99) and it is out of stock. I think the sale ended 2/29/12.
I just checked and my wife has 6,039 points, so she could take advantage of this. I didn't think of her account since I got the email and she didn't. Thanks OP! |
So, I took advantage of this, ordered some pc speakers, and then got this today:
03/08/2012 Hello CHRIS, We regret to inform you that your Sony Rewards order 787366 for the SRSD4 has been cancelled because your item is no longer available. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. NOW, i go back to the reward zone, and the item is STILL in stock! I ordered it again to see what happens. If they cancel on me, I will have to call and bitch I suppose. |

This promotion is pretty crummy. In addition to everything being overpriced:
1. there is hardly anything worth getting that's fairly close to 5k 2. sony charges you tax on your point purchase. ?! for an N battery and a cybershot case it will be 17.4K points. I would be charged 1.74K points above the 5k threshold and in addition ~$5 on my credit card. A total cost of $20 for an N battery (that I don't really need) and a carrying case. I think I'm going to hang onto my points and wait for something good to show up on amazon so I can ge t a purchase credit. |

Got my MP3 player, now just waiting on the points.

For those who got a shipping confirmation email; does it include a tracking number? The one item I ordered last week just shipped but nowhere in there there is a tracking number. It's been a while since I ordered from SonyRewards but in the past they always gave the tracking number for the shipper (FedEx, UPS).

Great find.. I had to buy 3800 points to get a controller but getting 5000 back is awesome.
I also forgot that I had 2 other accounts that had around 3900 points on each expiring on march 31 2012. So I snagged up a 50 gift card on each account for 11.00 each. woohhoooo Now I have 250 in giftcards laying around. |

Be careful if you sell the PSN code on ebay. Someone with a stolen cc bought mine and wanted me to email it to them. Paypal froze my account but luckily I hadn't sent it. They refunded the money to the card (it was reported stolen and shouldn't of been able to be used)
Paypal will not protect you if the buyer claims they didn't receive it unless you have a tracking # |

I had to add a a music CD, in total everything spend was about 6k. I get 5k back, those 1k are easily attainable . Good luck! |
damn I wish the controllers were on sale. I threw one against the wall while playing NHL 12. The wall won. Looks like I get a free-ish replacement. YAY NERDRAGE

can you use this offer to get digital downloads of music?

"if you don't have 5,000 points, you can buy points for cash at checkout for a penny a point"
so even if you don't have points, it's like spend $50, get $50 for anything at Sony rewards store except gift cards? |
Twisted Metal for PS3 cost like 6,500 points after taxes, which I already had, and I'll get 5,000 of those back. That's pretty killer in my book, thanks OP!

Is $50 PSN coupon code in high demand in other countries? I put this stuff on e-bay and the winning bid was $51. wondering why someone would pay $51 for a $50 code? And the winner is from New Zealand while the remaining bidders are from Brazil and Australia. None from the US. I am really puzzled

wow Sony sucks.... Even their customer service for the sony rewards sucks. I e-mailed asking why I havent gotten my PSN code yet and they respond with this

Sony support for my NX810 TV was similarly crappy. Never buying another Sony product if there's an alternative again.... I've already removed any CC info from my PSN after they got hacked |

Motherrocker! Redeemed 4000 points a month ago and only have 3600. Just like I redeemed $100 worth of Kmart points right before they had a promotion for double points.
