Wow, half price in about two months.

snives 04-11-2012 04:50 AM

FFXIII-2 was $15 last week at Best Buy with the gamers coupon. Good deal if you missed out on that though.

jaysapathy 04-11-2012 06:26 AM

$40 is the SRP for MK: Komplete Edition. No huge deal here. And yes, FF-2 was $15 with BB.. Good effort though.

I'm waiting longer, I have a giant backlog and it still didn't come with rave reviews, meaning it'll drop further.

ncc1701p 04-11-2012 10:03 AM

It'll be at $20 by black friday.. watch and see

I have enjoyed this game quite a bit. I definitely think they went in the right direction. It still has its quirks, but overall I think it is a pretty good game. I am about 65ish hours in and I am working on getting my last fragment (completing the Bestiary) and then I will be able to Platinum it.

I kinda wish they didn't cater to the 360 though by cutting out the cgi, that is a large part of what makes FF games so great.

syetangpogiko 04-11-2012 10:13 AM

It was $15 last week at Bestbuy after $15 Gamer coupon.

With all the DLC released I wonder if Square-Enix will re-release some sort of complete edition later on down the line...

Agreed. It'll probably be $10 by BF, but who the hell is gonna wait 7 months to save $20 if they're interested in the game.

dubleo 04-11-2012 01:56 PM

I'm still waiting for DW Gundam 3 to hit this price.
Why did FF XIII-2 drop so fast in comparison with lesser known games?

spacetroie 04-11-2012 01:58 PM

does anyone know the difference between the xbox and ps3 version? The later version had a difference in audio (so I purchased the PS3 version). Is that still the same case with FFXIII-2?

+4 rep for your help!

My opinion on this is that the gaming industry has plateaued and is regressing in line with the economy. Lack of innovation and maturing hardware has added to this dilemma so publishers have changed their pricing practices to charge full retail at release for the early adopters and discount heavily to compete with the used game market before it becomes obsolete. Useful life for games, and movies for that matter, are so short now that it makes sense to recoup costs any way possible.

Those people who have a backlog of games and buy more because they are "on sale." By the time they actually get around to playing it, the game is cheaper. I know a few people who are like that (sometimes I end up doing it myself). Anyway, the point is, I think this will hit $20 in the next two months, as it's already been $15 after coupon -- the Novella pre-order edition to boot!

My reasoning is because there's not much replay value in an RPG like this, they just want to bang out as many copies as possible before people beat and resell/lend out their games to friends.

There are no differences in this title, which to me is actually a negative. Square-Enix basically took out most of the CGI that the FF games are known for just so they could fit in on one disc, basically to appease the 360.

So there is no difference any more. One thing it does do is that it looks to see if you have a FFXIII game save. I am not sure what it actually does with that information, but if you bought the 360 version for this one it would obviously not find a game save file from FFXIII.

spacetroie 04-12-2012 10:14 AM

Thanks! What do you mean by this? Are you saying that if I have the PS3 version of FF13, the FF13-2 version on PS3 will find the game saved file from FF13?

"but if you bought the 360 version for this one it would obviously not find a game save file from FFXIII."

Yes, that is what I am saying. It seems like you were basically asking which system you should get FFXIII-2 for by asking if there were any differences on this one (it also seems like the only reason you went with the PS3 version of FFXIII was because of the differences).

So what I was saying was that if you ended up buying FFXIII-2 for the 360, since your FFXIII game save is on your PS3, it would not be able to find the game save from FFXIII. But if you get this version on PS3 as well, the first thing it will do when you load the game is tell you that it found a game save from FFXIII (assuming you didn't delete it).

Like I mentioned, I never really looked in to what the really means or does though.

Oh Ok. Thanks! I wonder what kind of goodies are in store once it loads the saved game file from the first ff13. But first, I need to finish FF13. Everyone can laugh at me but I'm stuck at the Odin part. Can't seem to beat him before the time ends. :(

You are not alone there. I remember A LOT of people complaining about beating Odin.

Yea, I don't remember how many it took me, I think I got lucky though because I don't remember it taking more than 6 or 7, but it was a while ago.

On a side note, I just got platinum on FFXIII-2 like 15 minutes ago :)

bbjcim 04-13-2012 09:46 PM

ffxiii was total garbage. will I enjoy xiii-2? I just ordered star ocean last hope.

My guess is that you won't. People that have the opinion that FFXIII was "garbage" have pretty much already made up their mind about FFXIII-2 without ever playing it.

IMO, FFXIII-2 improved significantly on FFXIII, but it still has its shortcomings. I enjoyed both of the games quite a bit though. I think FFXIII brought a lot of cool concepts to gaming that haven't been done before (Paradigm Shifting is the main one that jumps out).

The problem right now for the Final Fantasy series is that there are too many people that expect a perfect game and want it to be like the FF games of old, so when they find that it is not the same, the games get torn apart for every little thing rather than praised for some of the things that it brings to the table with each new game.
