vintagecharms 04-09-2012 10:49 PM

I believe the 50% off one is one day only.. April 10th. Still nice! Thank you.

shadowshopper 04-09-2012 10:53 PM

If you load up the preview of the coupon, it states that it cannot be combined. There was more effort involved in me typing this reply than just clicking the coupon and reading it.

What it says on the coupon is not what always happens in the store.

Isn't that like the 3rd rule of SD or somethin'?

The 50% coupon text says it's "valid: 04/10/12-04/10/12" so it's only a one-day thing.

Ok...so why did you ask? The rule ON the coupon is that you can't stack. But when I tell you that, you tell me that that may not be true because in store they may let you stack. So you pretty much answered your own question.

dividedsky319 04-10-2012 06:17 AM

I find the 20% off sales to be good for buying frames... they're typically at least 40% off already, so an extra 20% off of that makes for some decent deals.

sirscoobydoodoo 04-10-2012 06:55 AM

thanks for the heads up. i always see the 50% coupons but forget to go on that one day. hopefully i'll remember to go today.

shootermcgav1n 04-10-2012 06:57 AM

very nice, been needing some poster frames.

Lighten up, Francis. He just wants to know what other people's experience with these coupons is.

bourbonisgood 04-10-2012 07:35 AM

Girlfriend will be stoked about the framing coupon.

Just came back from Michael's to buy a basketball display case. They had it in their ad for buy one get one free. I only needed one so I thought their coupon would be good to use. However, when I brought it to get rung up, it rang up at 50% off without the coupon. Doh. Their way of making you buy two. Not really BOGO Free. Not necessary to buy two. Wonder if that is how all their BOGO items work.

Sigh. Having used many coupons - Michaels has their cash registers programmed such that it is not quite impossible to stack coupons that specify do not stack - but let's just say your chances are slimmer than an anorexic. In addition at least in the Louisville, KY stores they have trained their cashiers pretty well on what can be discounted at with what coupons. I think the last time I was able to stack simply the discount on one item was with a clearance item 3-4 years ago, and I believe that was before they added the language to the coupon reference excluding clearance.

auggiejerz 04-10-2012 12:26 PM

Yes that is how all Michael's BOGO items work. They discount each individual item not completely discount one item. (Their way of trying to preventing return fraud.) I hope you still used the 20% off coupon though as it would have stacked with the 50% off price that it rang up.

Hmm didn't even try since the coupon said it wouldn't work with BOGO items. Maybe it would have worked if it was a single item. Oh well would cost more gas than it would be savings if I went back. Thanks for the idea though.

I've found if you argue long enough, loud enough, and be a big enough pain in the ass many managers will give you whatever you want, despite it being clearly against the written terms or rules, because losing money on a single sale is worth less to them then getting your bitchass out of the store.

Light enough?

Jee 04-11-2012 09:35 PM

Nice coups! If only the chick at the counter wasn't such a bitch about people using coupons.

thikthird 04-11-2012 09:40 PM

damn, missed the 50% one. i need to frame some stuff.
