Amazon Verizon Samsung Galaxy Nexus $49.99 with new 2yr contract plus double your data
65533 Attachment(s)
Amazon Wireless has the Verizon Samsung Galaxy Nexus for $49.99 (new 2yr contract) right now with double your data, meaning you can now get 4GB for $30, etc.
Cheapest deal I've seen on the Google phone. I was looking at picking up the Galaxy Nexus from Sprint, but this may get me to switch carriers. Link [amazon.com] This seemed like a decent deal on a extended battery/cover. [amazon.com] Most Galaxy Nexus owners I know say you need to get the extended battery. |
I think it makes sense why it's this low at this point, so many big contenders coming out within the next few weeks. Especially for the month of May where the Samsung Galaxy S3 is being announced on the 3rd. I was really pumped for the Galaxy Nexus, but the closer I got to it's release I realized my phone (droid x) was working fine and I would wait it out until my phone either got lost or broke. Well, low and behold here I am with a phone, million dead pixels, big huge black marks on the screen, waiting endlessly for the damn S3 to come out

My fear however, is that Verizon will pass on the Galaxy 3 for some lame or unexplained reason. |
Why when I go to buy this does it make me chose between 1,000 text messages or nothing? I'm almost positive I have unlimited text messaging right now... is ordering this off Amazon going to cancel that service? That seems stupid... what am I missing?

How does Amazon charge tax? Is it dependent on state?
I'm in NY. I'm just wondering if they would tax base on retail price or the sale price? I just upgraded 3 days ago. Verizon discounted my phone down to $169... after tax, came out to $~186. Not even sure if its worth the return (EVEN if I manage to get them to waive my restock fee). |
Please add that this is for new line of service only in your title.

I've got this device, and while it's great on power and responsiveness, I regret buying it, especially at launch. The current radio for LTE has issues. Google has hundreds of results of people complaining. The LTE signal will just die, and it will cause the entire handset to sit in searching for signal. No LTE, No 3G signal, everything will drop out. Verizon has acknowledged there is a problem but the only solution they have is to keep swapping out handsets until one works.
See http://code.google.com/p/android/...l?id=24345 for more details and snippets from the logs on the devices. |

Even for those with renewals. This is a good deal. Unless you want to wait for newer phones which likely won't be any spectacular. You can argue the Droid fighter, but nothing eye popping or jawdropping.

Interesting. Recently upgraded from a D2 to the Rezound. While I would have been tempted to consider still swapping it for this deal a week ago..the research done on both phones makes the Rezound far superior, especially after reading about so many radio issues with the Nexuses The signal on this baby has been rock solid. Even w the S3 coming out (if it even comes to VZW) I doubt I will be jealous. My only gripe would be that the Rezound is the same weight as my D2 (relatively heavy), the Nexus and possibly S3 have that going for it. However, I AM MAN and man needs solid phone. :bounce:
Having said all that..still a solid deal for those looking to upgrade. |
I recently convinced myself to hold off on my cell upgrade and save money for a few months, as a bonus 'they' lower the price on my desired phone! For those who haven't checked, this price drop is across the board Wirefly.com (149.99), Costco (199.00 + free extended battery and ext. battery cover after mail-in rebate).
Also, does a decrease in Nexus Galaxy at this time mean the S3 won't be coming to Verizon next monthish? Ever? |
Neither of those 2 problems (or any others) happen on my GNex, I love it.......besides wishing I paid this price!

Direct blow at Sprint's nuts

I paid $50.00 more at Amazon Wireless less than 30 days ago. I just requested a price adjustment and I'll let you know what they say.
For what it's worth I have a love hate relationship with my Gnex. First off I freaking LOVE the 720p screen. An iphone looks tiny compared to it. It's super fast and has very little lag, less than I've ever seen in an Android phone. I've heard it has signal issues but mine doesn't. Compared to my friends Motorola phones I get almost identical signal with both 4g and 3g. I HAVE seen some Gnex phones that have much worse reception than I have. I LOVE ICS, it's my favorite phone OS. The bad Battery life sucks with 4g but is good if you stay on 3g especially. Codename Android is a great ROM to run and it really helped with battery life. I bought an extended battery but haven't used it yet. I have the "mute" issue where out of the blue while talking on the phone the speaker mutes and you can hear the other person but they can't hear you. There is supposed to be a software fix for this released next month but not everyone has this issue. All in all I can't imagine needing a quad core phone at this point in time and you know when they come out there are going to be $250.00 more than this phone currently costs. |

My wife's was $50 and mine $20 so I thought would be a no brainier getting the Rezound instead the GNex or Razer Maxx considering teh signal issues and the Razer fixed battery and worse screen. If you are eligible to update and intend to stay with Verizon anyways, no doing so just favors Verizon as they save money while you stay with an outdated device. |

Sucess!!
I sent Amazon Wireless an email asking to give me a price adjustment from $99.00 to the $49.00 and they did! |
Of course Amazon and Wirefly drop their prices right after I bought my Nexus from the local corporate store for $169.99... Ah, well.

I got this phone and it sucks big time!
|
It wasn't until I put the AOKP 32 rom & Franco's kernel on my phone that I truly was able to breathe easily w/this phone....
It's great....but not GREAT. It has its problems for dang sure! I wish I would have purchased a Rezound many times. A few problems I've had is speaker volume (fixed w/AOKP's rom), battery life (fixed w/the kernel), and it made a weird after-beep even if I turned off click noises (which the rom fixed too) Basically, a stocked Nexus = lackluster Nexus....... |
the phone is great and battery got better after a week of use. i'm not rooted yet and will probably put AOKP today. I'm still missing my Note but this alongside the new iPad has made it a lot easier to move on. Screw AT&T and their slow network. Verizon 4G or LTE makes it worth owning a smartphone.

Try airplane mode on and then off. that fixes it for me.
or just root and flash a better radio |

I finally placed my order, look forward to playing with it. not sure if I'll flash a custom rom yet, but I hear that there are a few that make the phone run even better, allow you to tether, etc. see how the stock version goes first. |

for new customers tho, the google voice route would save $20 a month. Quote:

just wanted to hop on and say I just got my phone today, and I'm lovin my new Verizon GNex, been on it heavily for the past 3 hours and battery is still going cool. Phone signal is working well too. Already tried google voice text, Tango Video conferencing, and some other apps. Very good looking phone too.
