I was THIS close to buying a new Asus G75 laptop, but I have crossed them off my list at this time.

Currently they Asus G75 does not support optimus, which is a real deal breaker for me.
The use of the rebranded 670M will make matters worse, a 660M is about as fast and will use much less power.

It's a decent price for this laptop, but I would not buy a laptop these days with dedicated graphics that did not have Switchable or Optimus. The only exception would be a 3D Screen laptop which does not support that, but I likely would not buy a 3D screen laptop for that same reason.

Not really a great price, but good. Should play most games out now on ultra with FPS to spare.Incase your wondering (notebook check) [notebookcheck.net]
As a side note, Optimus on a Gaming computer is almost useless. If you want better battery life, avoid this processor, gpu, and screen size lol.

Some folks dont SOLELY game and can get good battery life on similar laptops that make use of it. You do realize the IB is a relatively power sipping CPU, especially when not stressed in normal use? You do realize that with optimus even high end GPUs use little power? You do realize that LED backlit screens are not huge power users? There is no reason why you cannot have a powerful gaming laptop in this form factor but also have it operate for extended periods of time on battery. Asus just failed on this mark, maybe to get it out the door and maybe a Bios/Driver update will help fix the issue but until that is done I'm still looking for the right config.

And true gamers would be better off with something like this...

Upgrade to the GTX 675 now or get 2x the performance for a small bump to the ATI card.
(The new ATI has jaw dropping numbers.....)

Asus are solid computers and I currently have an older Asus Gaming laptop but this is just an odd mix. Last Gen Graphics tied to IB whose only gain is power savings, but it lacks optimus to really make use of it.

For the most part I will hold out another month or so for a bigger proliferation of more slightly higher end 28nm graphics parts before buying a laptop in this range.
