Turtle Beach Ear Force DSS2 Dolby Surround Sound Processor $49.99 at Amazon w FS
Just saw this on Amazon and did a quick search and didn't find it posted. Sorry it it's a repost
Amazon is selling Turtle Beach Ear Force DSS2 Dolby Surround Sound Processor for only $49.99. This is a cheap solution for people who want to experience the surround sound headphone and who just bought the X12 and P11 from Bestbuy. You can also use almost any other headphone to hook up this processor to get the surround sound. LINK [amazon.com] |
since the X12 and P11's have the same 50mm single driver regardless of the sound processor, you won;t get much Surround Sound. Now if they had Dual Drivers maybe a tweeter I'd say go for it.

To me the SNR ratio of this amp seems to be a bit low. Maybe that's why it's not advertised.
It doesn't feel like it's worth $50. |
don't think it's a repost but this sale has been going on for a bit. It's part of Amazon's ongoing "Dads and Grads" sale that includes games. XP400 for $170 is a good deal. BF3 is $37 (Best Buy is rumored to have it at $35 for next week's ad). Here's a full list:

alright, I got in the DSS2 today and after a brief trial (maybe an hour in Halo Reach), I'm loving it with my X12's. I'm going to put up an Amazon review after I play with them for a few days in some games but I'm excited! If Halo Reach is any indication, then I'm going to love these in other games.

I purchased the X12's from BBY for $20 and thought that the stereo sound was horrible. I had no sense of what direction sounds were coming from in COD MW3... I was almost contemplating taking it back even at that low of a price. I saw the DSS card in the box and thought I should try that but then saw that it is a discontinued product. Was going to purchase the DSS 2 from Amazon until I saw the horrible reviews but went to my local MicroCenter and they happened to have them in stock for $79.99. They price matched Amazon at $49.99 since Amazon is the one actually selling it and I LOVE this add-on. It is a night and day difference with the X12's on my Xbox 360 when using the DSS 2. Of course I can't compare it to the sound quality of the original DSS since I have no way of purchasing the older version. I now use my headphones to play games and watch movies on Xbox via Netflix and Amazon Prime and all with virtual Dolby Digital. Can't beat the price at a total of $75 for the X12, DSS2, and Xbox Audio Adapter.
Note: For those who use HDMI out, you may want to pick up the Xbox Audio Adapter from Monoprice.com for $2.79 as this was a required add-on for me to be able to use the headphones. And for those that do the research, I can confirm that the adapter from Monoprice does not cause the reset problem like the generic versions from Amazon. |
I've put in a few hours of Left 4 Dead 2 and Halo Reach. And man, this DSS2 is awesome with my X12! I thought Halo Reach was good. But in L4D2, I could pinpoint all the superinfected! It was amazing. I started to hunt them rather than wait for them to pounce on me.
