Uniden DECT 6.0 Bluetooth Cordless Phone for $29.99 + Tax

1 Attachment(s)
Kmart has the "Uniden DECT 6.0 Bluetooth Cordless Phone System with Digital Answering System" for $29.99 with Free Ship to Store (or $6.99 shipping). If you get Free Ship to Store, then you definitely get tax.

http://www.kmart.com/shc/s/p_1015...umbWrapper

The page states 1 handset, but the model number is D3280-2, and according to Amazon's item page http://www.amazon.com/Uniden-D328...B004NEULCQ, it has two handsets. I haven't got mine so I'm not sure.

I believe I saw this before for Sears (which I missed), but I couldn't find that on Slickdeals any more.

Excellent Find! i'm in for one - thanks OP:nod:

FREEALTA 07-09-2012 08:56 AM

Nice... I was debating whether I want this or not. Then unbeknownst to me, I somehow has a ShopYourWay account and there is $5.11 credit just added a few days ago. Guess I need to spend it before it expires, so I redeemed it and total after tax is $26.50, pickup instore sweet!

I have no idea how I got this in ShopMyWay must be automatic or something...

The Sears deal failed for me even ater chatting with a rep and them saying the store would correct the price for me. Needless to say they didn't so I returned it. This is a great find, in for one this time as the price didn't change for me in cart.

Thanks!

slappin 07-09-2012 09:33 AM

<Sarcasm> Which carrier does this phone work with? Can it be unlocked? </Sarcasm>

Seriously though I am sure these things will keep getting more expensive as less people are buying them.

Nice! I missed out on the Sears offer but I got this one!! Still waiting for my in store pickup confirmation.

jonthompson 07-09-2012 10:23 AM

Also got this on the sears deal - is a great phone - paired with iphone and android + landline - no issues at all. Much better than expected sound quality than I'm used to with cheap uniden cordless phones.

So that's what these are for, connecting phones to them via Bluetooth...? I have google voice so I was fixing to have this set up through Obi's. Guess I didn't need the Bluetooth functionality at all...

kngtmre 07-09-2012 10:33 AM

Same here. Going to stop on the way home if it's ready to pick up. Had a $5 eGift card for Kmart from a previous purchase plus another $2 credit from shop your way rewards. Came out to $25.47 after tax plus the 5% discover cash back later.

If it's bad.. i'll return but it's well worth the try for that price.

Thanks OP!

Didn't read to far into this but this would be great when I move into my new apartment in a few months. Figured, worst case, I can return it to my local Kmart since I am picking it up there. Best case, I can get use to it so when I move, I already know how to use it and won't miss phone calls.

HeroTakesAFall 07-09-2012 11:24 AM

I got this set from the Sears deal. Nicest surprise for me was that the answering machine has WAY better sound quality than the other digital units I've had in the past few years. If anyone still uses answering machines.

sdslick 07-09-2012 11:28 AM

I've had a Panasonic system for 7 years or so. It's worked great except one of the handsets doesn't like to charge on its base (you have to wiggle it so it sits just right in order to charge). So for $30, I'm going to give the Uniden a shot. The only negative is my Panasonic system has three handsets, while this one only has two.

Just back from picking it up, there're two handsets.

hunkrocky 07-09-2012 11:42 AM

Even the product detail page on kmart says 2 handsets:

Product Description

Uniden D3280-2 - Cordless phone w/ call waiting caller ID & answering system - 1900 MHz - DECT 6.0 + additional handset

the1ash10 07-09-2012 11:44 AM

Does anyone know if this can be paired with my iPhone? I would like to leave my iPhone plugged in and use this around my house.

Vaslo 07-09-2012 11:47 AM

I read there is no caller ID function on this. Is that true?

ranran 07-09-2012 11:55 AM

Mini-review:

Got in on the Sears deal. Have had it for ~1 week.

Pros:
1. Slick looking, touch interface on the base unit (kids liked that....dunno why).
2. Phones are light and easy to hold.
3. Clear reception throughout the house & good volume levels.
4. Easily navigable phone system - didn't even need the manual to setup answering machine and pair with cell phones via bluetooth.
5. Bluetooth connection works well, have paired with two of our three phones so far (four cell phones max). With the handset, you can choose to make a call with your landline, or press the cell button to get a menu of devices through which to make the call (e.g. if you want to make a Verizon-to-Verizon call). Just make sure the cell phone is within ~10-12 feet of the base unit.
6. For the previous poster, there *is* Caller ID.

Cons:
1. Still requires wired headset through 2.5mm jack in handsets. Would have like to pair with my bluetooth headset.
2. Would like more handsets(?) :)

As long as it doesn't break, a good deal! ;)

Omy 07-09-2012 11:55 AM

I just came back from picking it up. It indeed has TWO handsets. If that helps anyone decide better.

shmklhed 07-09-2012 12:04 PM

Techno_Infidel 07-09-2012 12:09 PM

My ship to Marietta, GA store just got cancelled. DOH!

kcommon 07-09-2012 12:18 PM

And wouldn't it be cheaper to buy a second set for extra handsets than to by the additional handsets by themselves or will that not work?

dalby512 07-09-2012 12:19 PM

I just picked up my order. Confirming that it has two handsets!!

Yes, good point. I don't know what you would use the second base unit for though or if it can even be used as an extra handset with the first unit.

You do not need a land line to use this system. You can use it with cell phones only if you'd like.

I attempted to price match at best buy too, but unfortunately the store (i.e. Kmart) needs to be within 25 miles of you and have the phone in stock in order for them to perform the price match.

Probably, it may need to have a cell phone only mode (I have the panasonic and it works the way you describe).

It's actually pretty cool. So for instance if your cell phone battery runs out quickly, or if you live in an area where only certain parts of your house have good cell coverage this is really nice.

You can put your cell phone on a charger in the room where the reception is good near the uniden base station, and then scatter a bunch of handsets throughout the rest of your house and then be able to answer your cell phone through the handsets.

I find it very convenient. That said, the panasonic version SUCKS, it won't pair with half of my phones and the phonebook download has never worked.

I personally want one because I miss cell calls all the time as it's either on silent or I just can't hear the ringing. With this, I can probably minimize miss calls. Plus I can leave the cell on the dock(perhaps playing music or charging) and still answer/make calls.

Slickd3aler 07-09-2012 03:04 PM

It can be hard to hear a cell ringing in another room, especially in a larger house. Cell signal may not be the best in all parts of your house, with this you can leave your cell in a window and use the phone throughout the house.

suboray 07-09-2012 04:25 PM

Got one. Just picked it up at Kmart. Been looking for something with speaker phone that's sleek and atleast 2 handsets. This is a good deal, but I don't know if/ how I will really use this bluetooth feature.

Parachute07 07-09-2012 04:36 PM

I'm looking for a basic phone set for my girlfriend's parents' house. They don't even have cell phones....so I just need something basic. They said they just wanted whatever was cheapest and I picked up a $15 3-handset setup from Target over the holidays -- but that's already crapped out. So now I'm looking for something that is decent quality and under $50. Is this about the best I'll get for my money? I feel like the key feature on this is probably the bluetooth -- which will never get used in their house. Any thoughts?
(they had a Panasonic set for years and the handsets finally refused to charge any battery)

Edit: And the 2 handsets is fine. They were looking for either 2 or 3. Two would be fine.

And I should add that I've just been looking at each deal that comes up trying to figure out which phone set is going to last for a while and be easy to use (they are fairly technologically challenged).

I have had nothing but bad experience with Sears.com pickups... total chaos. Site lets you order, but then store calls and says they have none, another person from store calls you, when you go it's a coin toss... sometimes you get and sometimes they say "too bad.. "

I honestly can say that the Sear's pick up in Wayne, NJ has been pretty good. They have never lost an order and usually only take 1-2 minutes (they have a clock timing them).

However, the automotive center is a different story. They are horrible and I have had several problems with them.

Also the phone is pretty nifty, so far I like it. One thing to note is you should let the phone charger for a full 15hrs before playing with it to avoid adverse power effects. Yes, I actually read the manual lol.

k000 07-09-2012 08:12 PM

Princeton/Lawrenceville, NJ store is where I have all the bad luck.. I remember same experience when I used to live a bit north.. in Edoson/around store.. Glad to hear your store is more honest :)

mandoris 07-09-2012 08:27 PM

Thanks for this, got it from my local store no problem, nice phone setup.

deeeman 07-10-2012 04:47 AM

Good luck dealing with K-Mart. You're gonna need it.

There's a reason the stock has plunges 75% in the last two years while most others have stayed the same, and from my perspective it's a combination of a quirky web-shopping site coupled with extremely poor customer service.

busymike 07-10-2012 06:22 AM

ordered and picked up at local k-mart. it took 15 minutes to get the item and there was only one person in line in front of me.

Here is the Sears deal thread. Nice find.

Sweet, thanks for the xpost, I was able to get from sears rather than kmart (local one didn't have any in stock) - forgot they were one in the same now!

Same here I almost thought they didn't have it. As much as myself and others complain about Best Buy, at least they have my order ready behind the counter when I arrive.

Picked mine up today with no issues.

I missed the deal both time (sears/kmart) not available at my zip -
I request all to please spare a min and use the amazon "tell us about a lower price" feature.. i am not sure it will work; still worth a try.

amzn link... [amazon.com]

Thanks in advance :)

Beware - It's just one Handset!

It's just one Handset. I chatted with their support and they confirmed it. The Photo and the descriptions are misleading. I ordered one yesterday but cancelled it today.

It's 2 handsets.. I have them both charging.

Great Deal, Thanks

evilnewbie01 07-11-2012 06:41 AM

Strange it is over $39 to ship it to me... they are charging me tax... don't think I want to get it at that price... anyone else in the same boat?

quest32 07-11-2012 06:54 AM

I picked it up today. 2 handsets, one main base and one remote base. Handsets are very light and the setup is fool proof. Worked well and seems to work as advertised, regarding the Bluetooth cell phone pairing. Great way to avoid missing calls when phone is charging or just out of your pocket when you get home and ringer is not in ear shot or on silent. I've had good experiences with both Uniden and Panasonic. I'd stay away from Vtech and GE (if they even make phones anymore) - poor quality.

Biggest gripe was the in store pickup at Kmart. It was a terrible experience. You have to go to Layaway which is at the rear of the store and no one was at the counter. Took forever to get assistance and it defeats the concept of convenient pickup for something I've already paid for. They need to take a look at Sears (you'd think they would share in house best practices) or Best Buy, but safe to say I won't bank on it and I won't be ordering from them again.

vsp2979 07-11-2012 07:16 AM

Probably the most slickest looking phones. Charging the phones as of now, haven't used them yet.

Can anyone comment on call quality etc?

quest32 07-11-2012 08:35 AM

If you buy two sets (2 main bases, 4 handsets total) can they all link up together? Or do they have to spawn from only one main base? Anyone know?

I haven't picked mine up yet from sears but on the email it states if you don't get your item within 5 minutes they will give you a $5 coupon.

can I use a bluetooth headset with this phone?

kemetblk 07-11-2012 05:56 PM

in for one. I needed a new cordless phone, one with an answering machine so this looks perfect. Thanks!

I didn't use Sears pick up before, but yesterday I was able to pick the phone I ordered in 2 mins... Just went to the Merchandise pick up kiosk, scanned my order and within 2 mins they gave me the phone. And they advertise that within 5 minutes of the Scan if they don't deliver the product, you will get a $5 coupon. Not sure if anyone got a Coupon .. but honestly I was satisfied with the pick up. Thanks for your comments though and may be it varies from store to store.

ninefine 07-14-2012 10:39 AM

UPDATE: It is out of stock for shipping but several stores around me have it in stock for pick up and if you order online, you get a 5% friends and family discount so final price is $28.49 if anyone is still interested.

RMP00N 07-16-2012 08:53 PM

call quality on mine is terrible. Static makes it unusable. I'm very close to returning it.

Jottle 07-28-2012 09:03 AM

Is anyone else finding the standby battery life on these to be horrible? I charged the batteries for 24hrs, and left the phones off the bases (unused) for only two days before the batteries died. These things are supposed to have 7 day standby time. The mAH of the battery packs are a paltry 300. Is it possible my batteries suck? Or do they just need to go through a couple charge/drain cycles to reach full capacity?
