Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 w/ 16Gb & Case - $340 @ Costco

1 Attachment(s)
Costco currently has the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 w/ 16GB & Case for $340 (includes a $40 Instant Rebate - expires 9/09/12).

Since this is in-store only (not online), I've attached a picture. the sign in picture does not say "Tab 2", but the package itself says "Tab 2".

Not an incredible deal by any means, but about the cheapest I've come across so far.

Costco Samsung Galaxy Tablet 2 10.1 $40 off! = 339.99

2 Attachment(s)
Found this deal in the costco coupon booklet for $40 off of a Samsung galaxy Tablet 2 10.1. It usually retails for $399.99 at Costco and comes with a case. For whatever reason when they rang it up at the register it came up as $379.99. With $40 off it came down to $339.99 (Pre-tax)

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2

I think they are being marked down because Samsung just release the Galaxy
Note 10.1 http://www.gizmag.com/samsun-gala...-10/23740/

Being the Costco slut that I am, I will have to drive down and check out the Samsung Galaxy Tab and enjoy their free food samples.

Good price.

Hawk600 08-17-2012 05:46 PM

Just OK price...
$250 ish would be a great price.
Tegra 2 still a decent processor but is aging fast and sux playing high def videos.

Does staples price match costco to use the 20% off coupon?

no offense, but we are not talking about how much tablets "should" be.
$340 is still $60 lower than regular retail price.

The reason we say this is because the new samsung tablet is coming out, and these things will wind up on CowBoom for $250 soon enough.

My post was all about the product and its price. If you think it is a decent price, good for you! I don't! :)

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 16GB CostCo B&M $339.99

I was in CostCo in East Hanover, NJ and spotted the Samsung Galaxy Tab™ 2 10.1 WiFi 16GB for $379.99 - $40 instant rebate = $339.99. I've posted a picture of the pricing label.

Limit of 5, expires 9/9/12. This price does include a free case.

The website does not have reflect a discount, so this is B&M only.

What? Galaxy Tab 10.1 2 came out in May. Nexus 7 is made by Asus not Samsung. It's also 7' vs 10', has no sdcard slot, no IR blaster, no back camera. Galaxy tab is great for replacing my Harmony remote and using XBMC Remote. Just gotta use TouchSquid to control IR Blasting

Repost. But good deal. I bought this and am really enjoying it. I use HTC Evo View on the daily commute and at work, but a 10.1" is great at home for me.

I personally get sick of everyone calling Nexus 7 a better choice. It aint all that, to be trumping a 10.1" for those who want a larger screen. No external memory card option makes Nexus a zero for me, despite jelly bean

Can't agree more, I will never buy anything apple. Their products just doesn't cut it for me. 3-4 years of the same design? I don't care if it's a new hardware. They need to innovate and stop duplicating the same thing over and over again.:):)

cymek 08-24-2012 09:07 PM

Better buy it while you can. That judge has had it in for Samsung since the start of the trial, I'm sure he plans on banning the import of Samsung phones and tablets.

L33tmaster 08-24-2012 09:13 PM

If you can afford to spend $40 more, I'd go for the TF300T, it has a Tegra 3 and the Jellybean update just came out for it.

I wonder if they have a chance to sell at BF. They lost the lawsuit and need to pay one billion fine also cannot sell it any more until they change the design

Gidor 08-25-2012 12:23 AM

Really? Save your money and go for the NEXUS 7 for $250
its 7inchs versus 10 inchs but some may find that more portable
Nexus's quad cord CPU will blow out the the Samsung's dual core CPU
Yes it may be a deal changer if you need the IR blaster but really, that's one big remote.
Lastly if you feel like your missing out because the Nexus 7 does not have a camera your just a dumb BUTT. Who holds up a 10 inch camera to take pictures. Not to mention you can take better pictures with most FREE SMART phones these days.

Technically, Apple also specified the rectangle had to have a grid of rectangular icons as well as a app dock.

http://cdn.androidpolice.com/wp-c..._thumb.png

When you consider the entire patent in perspective, Samsung did infringe Apple and the patent isn't actually that broad. That last bullet regarding the GUI is extremely specific. Android's GUI doesn't require an app dock.

Grid of rectangular icons....check!

I don't really know how to put this into perspective but let me try:

It's like comparing an older 900" Movie theater screen/projector combo to a 42" Smart 3DTV.

Yeah the Smart TV might actually have more sophistication/newer technology behind it, but some people would rather enjoy a bigger screen size.

Do you go around telling people to buy a sports car because its "faster", when they want an SUV? Even though they are both motor vehicles, they do have different applications.

I should go troll Nexus 7 threads and say "You should buy a 10 inch tablet instead since you get about DOUBLE the viewing area". See what I did there?

not he's mad, Apple is mad. Yet microsoft might have covered their own ass pretty well, with all the patents etc. Samsung is just a bald head and determined to rip it no matter what. It's a small price of 1 bn to pay while Samsung makes 4 bn each month thanks to strong demand of the "galaxy".

don't matter what perspective you put, the electronics drop their price as time goes by, as newer designs, cpus, spec, features just keep coming up. A few months old lost 30% of its price tag isn't something new in this day. Just face it, this tab aren't worth more than this price.

There are three things emerging now:

1. price tag, people don't want to spend on tab like a laptop, so > $300 is out.
2. weight: tab's pitch is "portability", 10" is not exactly very portable, especially with older models when most tabs were not made as light as ... iPad.
3. size: have you heard enough how 7" is a better balance between screen reality vs. portability? holding a 10" is no longer considered cool.

MadPup 08-25-2012 06:26 PM

Looks overpriced for what you get. There are better deals on the Motorola XOOM. For instance, I got a new one form Target a couple of months back for $280.

And BTW, Apple may beat up Samsung in a hometown court, but they can't stop the tide. They should learn from King Canute [inspirationalstories.com].

well then, you shouldn't have problem to get laid. kidding aside, 10" does feel more for infant and grandma nowadays.

cequalspid 08-25-2012 06:54 PM

It's funny how people have willingly turned themselves into fan boys for Apple and other corporations. Branding themselves like idjuts. One of the greatest achievements of Steve Jobs was turning Apple users into tools themselves. Though you find this type of behavior among some Android folks as well, though Apple users especially. People forget that these devices are just tools.

There are very good arguments to do away with software patents altogether.

As for the Galaxy Tab 2 vs Nexus 7, the screen size has to be a major factor. The microSD card slot is nice to have for many folks as well. Simply stating the Nexus is 'newer' and thus should be the one to buy is silly.

1. - Subjective statement
2. - By your seriously flawed logic, then everyone should run and get a phablet instead since they are even more portable/functional than a 7" tablet, right?
3. - It doesn't take a genius to figure out that watching a movie or viewing a desktop formatted webpage is much more enjoyable on a bigger screen. It up to the consumer if they want to trade off screen size for portability.

Your statement on holding a 10" is no longer considered "cool" and this one? If the iPad wasn't so close to 10 inches, I would seriously think you are just another Apple fanboy troll with such a lame comment.

Let me get one thing straight: I'm not saying people shouldn't get a 7" tablet. I'm just tired of people coming in large tablet threads saying "oh get a Nexus its better". If I wanted a Nexus I would be looking for a Nexus so you can leave this thread now (not directed towards you, just sayin'). If you prefer that screen size and/or looking for something more portable, then by all means that why they make them that size. Some people would rather enjoy a larger screen, and some people would rather have more portability. It's all about YOUR preference. Just because something isn't for you, doesn't mean that it isn't for everyone.

Well said m8. I could not agree more. I have a 7" (that Polaroid number) and after playing with a 10" tablet, for me the preference is definitely the bigger format. Still pretty portable as well.

If the iPad wasn't so close to 10 inches, I would seriously think you are just another Apple fanboy troll with such a lame comment.

wow, you mad? of course it's all subjective, this is about a consumer electronic last I check. But don't worry, I just repeat some public opinion anyone can find on web. and there is nothing wrong with 10" if so prefer, so feel free to disagree me or anyone who's voice is not in your favor. But shut their voice down? that doesn't make you more right than others. The bottom line, I'm just saying this is not a good deal as more people are favoring 7" now than 6 months ago, this isn't even my opinion, there is simply more voice saying that.

Now you are saying there is nothing wrong with 10" after totally bashing that form factor? Make up your mind.

It has nothing to do with "shutting" voices down, but if you are going to suggest a product, at least suggest a product of the same class. Do you also go into laptop threads telling everyone to buy a netbook because they are more portable? It's not me being mad, its being annoyed.

As for your last statement, do you have any statistics backing that up since it isn't your "opinion"?

Did it ever occur to you that smaller tablet purchases are on the rise because of "affordability"?

I guarantee you'll be in for a rude awakening if you poll people on if they would rather buy a 7" Nexus or a 10" Nexus for the same price.

Nothing against Samsung but this isn't much of a deal considering that it's a 16gb tegra2. The 32gb TF300 with tegra3 is only $399 retail (and $320 here on SD). Some may be willing to trade in storage and processor for an IR blaster but probably not most.

True that... but don't go around spouting your are innovative when you are inspired by and/or take others ideas and package them up in pretty boxes thrown behind good marketing. Then they have the audacity to sue anyone else that does. It ain't right.

Still a lot of people out there thinking iTunes was the original source of MP3's.
Still a lot of people refer to MP3 players as "iPods".
I took my Sony Tablet S into a Starbucks and got asked "What funky model iPad is that?"

It ain't right, but sadly iSheeps are taking over.

Next up: GM tries to patent the wheel.

I actually bought the 7 inch Tab 2 a couple of weeks ago and the price on the 10 inch Tab 2 was $379 at the time. Now I dont dislike the 7 inch model even though it did take some getting use to but I might have bought the 10 inch model if the price was only $100 more at the time. I may actually take the 7 incher back and pick up the 10 incher. I guess I need to try it out some more before I decide to keep it or not but either way with Costco's 90 day return policy you can do this without having to feel rushed. I am impressed with the quality so far and I hope the 10 inch model is on par with it as I may get it if nothing else just to try it out and because of the now lower price.

To the American courts only. Judge must be a apple fan boy.
British courts dismissed the case saying no copyright infringement and in S. Korea, they said both copied each other.

Boils down to Apple can't handle competition as they dominated for so long.

enrights 08-27-2012 03:58 AM

Bought one yesterday so happy its not an ipad..........

The ipad may be a great product but apple only lets you do what it wants you to do with its products , you end up paying more for their products, and its not like you can do more with their products than other competitors, so why pay more? Unlocking and rooting mine now........

runtohell121 08-27-2012 08:35 AM

^People prefer the branding I guess?

Most consumers will think a tablet is an iPad even if it runs Android.
A smartphone can be considered as an iPhone to them also.
MP3 players is also considered to them as iPod.

Apple was able to market their products to consumers and people did buy them, most people think their product names are the name for other products. ;) That's why some people think Samsung Galaxy phones are iPhone
