GunSharp 08-17-2012 07:00 AM

Really good price for a nice sized hardcover.

pressstart 08-17-2012 07:10 AM

Win! Thanks for the heads up! Hope they don't botch the translation, localization, and editing :)

Zephon13 08-17-2012 07:16 AM

Must have. In for one.

hypercoyote 08-17-2012 07:33 AM

In for a million! I'm glad they're finally translating this.

iamidle 08-17-2012 07:35 AM

i wonder if there will be an ebook version of this for sale

gizmotoy 08-17-2012 07:36 AM

Thanks. Picked this up.

BlinkOnly 08-17-2012 07:41 AM

Pre-ordered yesterday when it was $25 but at least qualified for free shipping.

nullstring 08-17-2012 07:48 AM

This could make a good gift.
Does this come sealed?

The reason I ask is I could preorder now and then gift or sell later if needed.
No way it'll sell for less than $21 in the future if sealed.

ff4paladin 08-17-2012 07:53 AM

Awesome, I'm a huge Zelda fan. Picked one up, probably would've paid the $35 for one.

Falldog 08-17-2012 07:58 AM

Man, they couldn't release this in December? Guess I'll have to buy it myself ;)

Nick5324 08-17-2012 08:05 AM

Thanks OP, rep'd

You probably made out:
"Pre-order Price Guarantee! Order now and if the Amazon.com price decreases between your order time and the end of the day of the release date, you'll receive the lowest price. Here's how (restrictions apply)"

So, you likely got it for $21 free shipping. I am going to have to order a $4 filler item with this with free shipping.

If you pre-ordered it from Amazon, then you will be covered under the pre-order price guarantee. If you check your open orders, you should see the lower price.

Otakulad 08-17-2012 08:15 AM

Repped. My brother bought me the Japanese one from Japan. Cool to have both.

257209 08-17-2012 08:20 AM

cool find

Play3rtwo 08-17-2012 08:27 AM

Dammit, why must you make me spend more money?

iandyli 08-17-2012 08:28 AM

Thanks OP! In 4 1. Too bad Amazon's charging sales tax in more and more states now:

SinisterBlur 08-17-2012 08:35 AM

You made me an offer I can't refuse. Thanks! :woot:

raregamer 08-17-2012 08:50 AM

In for one for now.

Sensai 08-17-2012 09:03 AM

Yep. In for one.

At this price, it's just too cool to pass up.

riskbreaker76 08-17-2012 09:04 AM

awesome. thanks!

Kal-el 08-17-2012 09:06 AM

Thanks for the heads up. I saw the announcement yesterday, but Amazon didn't have it up. Or at least I couldn't find it. Even now when I search it doesn't pop up, so I appreciate the link.

For those who don't know, this was published in Japan late last year (I think) and contains all sorts of stuff, including the complete, official Zelda timeline. For years Nintendo has said that they knew how every game fit together and with this book they finally proved it.

But you don't need to spend the money now, just when it ships. That's only a problem for future Play3rtwo.

ceril 08-17-2012 11:38 AM

I usually dont post deals here so I am not to sure how it works, how do you get this to the FP. Maybe a Zelda book not considered FP material?

Play3rtwo 08-17-2012 11:42 AM

@ ceril :

usually it takes a sacrifice of a small child / animal to please the FP gods.

but seriously, upvotes usually propel it to the top. so people thumbs up this deal if you want it to sell out fast!

in just 1 day, Hyrule Historia is the #1 best selling book on all of Amazon

Shakespeare 08-17-2012 02:34 PM

FP it! In 4 1!!!

"It's dangerous to go alone...take this:"

A Rep!!!

matthew317 08-17-2012 03:41 PM

It's passed Fifty Shades of Grey to take the #1 spot on Amazon's bestseller list

BadBrent 08-17-2012 03:42 PM

By far one of the best game franchises ever...Mario and Sonic have nothing on Link and Zelda. +1

So far it shows the old price but I'm not going to make a big deal out of it yet.

icemanatee 08-17-2012 04:50 PM

I see that the publication date is January 29, 2013. Does that mean that we'll it sometime after that date?

decarillion 08-17-2012 04:57 PM

and...geeks.com just posted that this book has ousted 50 Shades of Old Age from the top sales spot on Amazon :)

r0ge 08-17-2012 05:12 PM

My wallet hates you this week slickdeals.... Thanks and repped.

Kris10 08-17-2012 06:16 PM

Pre-ordered 2! One for myself and one to use as a giveaway. =)

Mew2 08-17-2012 06:36 PM

I heard about this coming out in english on Kotaku last night, and at this price I can't resist! Repped!

Maxito 08-17-2012 07:18 PM

I have never pre-ordered anything. Do I have to enter the shipping address now even if it's going to ship next year? I'm not sure I will be in the same address at the time, or in you're Amazon experience, is there an easy way to change the shipping address after the purchase is made?

decarillion 08-17-2012 07:23 PM

You can change the shipping address and payment method almost up to the day they ship. Plus, when you pre-order, they guarantee that if the price goes down after you place that pre-order, you'll pay the lower price, too.

babyshaq90 08-17-2012 07:25 PM

Ordered this just cause I love Zelda

Payment method? I thought I had to pay now and wait for the book to be released. Or the payment isn't made until the item is sent? Sorry, never pre-ordered anything as I said before.

Yeah you don't pay until it ships.

Maxito 08-17-2012 07:55 PM

Thanks for the tips guys, I repped you both. Gonna order 1.

They take your payment info when you place the pre-order, but your card isn't charged until they ship. However, if you decide--before it ships--that you want to change which card you use for payment, you can do that.

No apology necessary--it's always better to ask questions :)

iced-tear 08-17-2012 09:31 PM

what's a good item for filler?

Madness91 08-18-2012 04:51 AM

I'm torn as to whether to buy this or not, simply out of spite because of the implications the timeline they haphazardly came up with has on A Link to the Past...

It was just a poor decision on their part to say that Links Awakening and A Link to the Past take place in a timeline where Link "failed" in Ocarina of Time. It's like why doesn't every "game" have a timeline where the hero was defeated, such as in Skyward Sword.

You'll understand what I mean when you read it. They should have left that ambiguous. So if Link failed in Ocarina of Time which leads to the Link to the Past and other games, why doesn't he supposedly fail again? Why only then? Oh that's right, because it's the only way they could explain the story.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Zelda games, and I think Link to the Past is one of the few games I ever got 100% of every single thing on. Whatever, enough ranting, time to go put in a pre-order :D

ceril 08-18-2012 05:56 AM

I added amazon european link to 1st post £22.09 bit high IMO

I don't think your pre-order price changes until they ship; then they will give you the lowest price since you placed the order, I'm pretty sure about this. But I will advise one thing, keep an eye on the item for a couple days after a pre-order ships. They sometimes drop the price and I always email them to complain and they adjust the price even though it is not their official policy to do so.

bszelda 08-20-2012 09:07 PM

I hope that that is not the real cover for the book. I'd rather it look more like the Japanese version with shiny gold-plated text and no pictures on the cover. :P

slashers 08-21-2012 10:32 AM

Thanks OP. really neat buy. i would love to read this, because i was obsessed with Ocarina of Time

Zomg, amazing.

Chimay 01-29-2013 11:29 AM

Gonna necro this thread, sorry!

Got mine today and it was in awful condition. Box was fine, so it clearly wasn't damaged during shipping. All 4 corners on the top and 3 of them on the back were badly dented. The bottom side of the front also had a big dent in the middle. Seeing as how I kind of bought this as a collectible, I'm returning to Amazon and requesting a new one, in better condition.

Anyone else who got their pre-order have issues with the condition of the book?

xplicitone 01-29-2013 11:46 AM

Tempting. Was a huge Zelda fan since NES days. But barely any played after Ocarina of Time. Seems like a cool game collectors item for only $20.

thikthird 01-29-2013 12:00 PM

they're $20.58 now. tempting...

I ordered mine as a gift and had them gift wrap it in hopes that it will ensure it comes in excellent condition. Will find out today.
