Omaha Steaks 4.5 pounds of meat and a Beef Stick for $21.99 with free shipping

Omaha Steaks has the free 2 lb. ham with purchase, and free shipping going until 8/21. You have to buy something more significant than a $5 item. This is what I put together:

http://www.omahasteaks.com/mailing

Enter Item 2276. This is the $2.00 beef stick. Add to cart, then go to your cart. The bonus trio option will show up (there has to be one item in your cart for the bonus trio to appear). Pick 3 for $19.99. Choose your items and add these to your cart. I picked the burgers, chicken breasts, and chicken patties. The bonus 2 lb free ham will then show up at the end of your cart.

Total was $21.99 with free shipping. In your cart subtotal, it says, "Shipping Not Included". If you go all the way to the final checkout screen you will see no charge on shipping.

Not a bad deal for Omaha.

This post can and should be edited by users like you :)

DEAD

Slick deal alert: For those of you with MCR accounts, use 500 Points and purchase the $20 Omaha gift card from the rewards catalog, and make this purchase $1.99 OOP!

Thanks to Tonestar.man below for the step I messed up.

Goto: www.Omahasteaks.com/mailing Put in item number: 395CHA Then you will see the information regarding the bonus ham

Then search for item: 2276 Add it to your cart Then look at your cart You will see an option for a trio, you can either use the one they define or select your own. Then add it to your cart, once you do you will see the free ham there

BeerManMike 08-17-2012 11:06 AM

oh boy...

nikki6kix 08-17-2012 11:12 AM

Get a helmet....

Although at first glance it looks like an OK deal.

'Course it will probably get cancelled and you will be called for "fraud" from Omaha Steaks for figuring out a way to not get totally F'd.

iDad 08-17-2012 11:18 AM

No ham at the end of the cart and shipping is $15.99. Free shipping is for orders > $99...

galewskj 08-17-2012 11:30 AM

Marceille 08-17-2012 11:45 AM

/edit: Somehow I just got free shipping, still working on the ham.

sorta_guy 08-17-2012 11:51 AM

Where's the beef (err... ham)?

kwhitmd 08-17-2012 12:01 PM

If you happen to have 500 MY Coke Rewards points you are itching to get rid of, you can redeem for a $20 E-card that is applicable to the order. The E-card code comes instantly in an email.

Because its an Omaha Steaks "deal".

The last time I bought meat from OS the hamburgers shrank by 1/3 ... and my grill almost went up in flames from all of the excess fat in the product.

This is quite an "exciting" offer. I recommend having a fire extinguisher handy during the Labor Day "festivities".

jammer 08-17-2012 01:40 PM

Oooh, frozen non-fresh meat at average prices. Where do I sign up?

Soka 08-17-2012 01:50 PM

Thanks Tonester! Also, Discover Cashback allows you to redeem $20 for a $30 certificate... Since I was spending ~$20 on this anyway, I added another ~$9 worth of stuff and redeemed my cashback. Got a 2lb boneless ham, 7 2-oz beef snack sticks, 6 4-oz steak burgers, 4 0.25-lb boneless chicken breasts, and 4 0.25-lb chicken patties for $31.29 (after tax + FS) minus the $30 certificate = $1.29; although, I did spend $20 of my rewards cash, so perhaps it's more accurate to say I spent $21.29 total.

Took some finnagling to get the damn eCertificate to work on their website, it's technically not supposed to work on anywhere but a separate portal for Discover eCertificate redemption, but it worked after some refreshing of pages. Thumbs up!

WHOA EDIT HOLD UP: Just a note, I checked my email receipt and it conflicts with the initial order confirmation from Omaha Steak's; it tacked on an extra $15.99 for shipping for some reason bringing my total to $47.34! I called their company number and explained the issue and they told me that I didn't order a "Main Selection" from their catalog to qualify for the free shipping (despite getting the free ham, which the lady on the phone couldn't explain the reasoning). I saved the initial order total from Omaha's website, but the lady on the phone claimed that the pricing there is "not final" (despite me pressing "Confirm") and is only an estimate, that prices will be adjusted up or down accordingly later on <---WTF. I then asked to cancel my order, but if I do so I "would lose" my Discover eCertificate; I asked if it could be exchanged for a gift card or something in this case and she said "no, not normally, but let me check with my supervisor." A few minutes later she came back and instead told me they'd give me the free shipping as a one-time courtesy, but that it couldn't be refunded until after my order ships (on Monday)... so, tentatively, my order has been reduced back to $31.29 ($1.29 after my Discover eCertificate), but we'll see. Just a word of warning to others to double check their receipt in their inbox; I'm not sure if the issue was related to me using my Discover certificate though.

2freetacos 08-17-2012 01:51 PM

Thank you! I ordered 2 orders. One send as a gift.

There were codes on SD to collect bonus MyCokeRewards points during the Olympics - 40/day at one point. I had three MCR accounts with over 500 points each, so I just cashed the points out and bought three $20 Omaha Steak E-Cards.

I'm getting the order below THREE times for a total Paypal out of pocket of $5.97. All three transactions took less than 15 minutes. Sorry naysayers... but this is a SLICKDEAL!

I respectfully disagree....IMHO..The items shipped can be no better than the higher end or premium cuts at your local grocery meat counter. There aren't "special" cows, chickens, or hogs specifically raised for Omaha Steak company. This is an OK deal at best but the price per pound is still quite high. Even with cashback and such it is hard to justify their prices. I have tried several times and it just doesn't pencil out. I do live in the mid west about 100 miles north of Omaha so maybe I take the availability of quality meat at reasonable prices for granted. So I would add that YMMV.;)

I respectfully disagree with your respectful disagreement. Not necessarily with the quality, but with the taste. Yes, there are no special animals out there and Omaha's cuts are probably nearly identical to supermarket brands, but paying more for something makes it (seem to) taste better. There are tons of hidden camera experiments out there where they give someone two identical food items, but say one is fast food and one is some fancy restaurant...and of course they always go into great detail about how much better tasting the one from the "fancy restaurant" is.

Or the even better version where they get similar food items, one from fast food and one from an expensive restaurant, then tell the people that they're the opposite of what they really are. Same results.

Long story short: if you overpay for a steak, it will probably taste better.

It's the only reason those insanely expensive steakhouses stay in business...well that and dudes hoping to get laid on the first date.

There was a time when it was worth buying from Omaha Steaks. But the last few years you get steaks with about as much flavor as a piece of cardboard. I still buy the burgers and the apple tart deserts, but if I want a decent steak I go to the supermarket or butcher shop.

If you have a membership and the money, you may want to try Costco for the USDA Prime steaks. A bit pricey, but great steaks.

dnique1221 08-17-2012 07:32 PM

First let me start by saying, I use to buy from Omaha monthly. These hams ate disgusting!! The meat you get is good, but you can do a lot better at a local butcher, or even a super market. I havent bought from them in at least a year. Save your $22, and buy local. This shit is garbage!

If you don't want your entire screen saved and just the window you're looking at, make sure the window you want is active (click somewhere in the window) and press Alt-Print Screen. That will take a screenshot of your active window and not everything on your screen.
