Consider to purchase more fan and power supply, because this one only includes ONE fan.
For those of ya that have a USB 3.0 Header, you can get an adapter [ebay.com]pretty cheaply. |
I think this is hot. Bought one thanks.
|
Not bad considering it has USB 3! Plus reviews are pretty good.
Looks like these are made by HEC Compucase based on one of the manufacturer response. Quote:

First munchkins, now cougars. Today has been a slew of crushed hope.

If I founded a company called Cougar, or even had to work for one, I'd seriously call it quits (on life). And that's aside from the gaudy logo...

Cougar fans are pretty decent, I have a 120 and 140mm one in my rig.
|
Damnit why did I buy that P280! This looks just as good LOL.
It's like copping a Hyundai Sonata instead of the LS460 |
worked for me. personally, i prefer the usb3.0 cable because my motherboard does not have the alternative 19-pin header to connect it to.
|

and you could always get an adapter [ebay.com] like this for really cheap. |
The usb3.0 front cable appears to be a plug in one that routes to the outside back of the case directly to the mobo... it does NOT a ppear to be a 19 pin header cable. That is good for some, not for others. If you don't have usb 3.0 19-pin on your mobo you want to use, then you could actually plug it in a 2.0 port and at least have functionality vs having a dead port.
Of course, you can get an x1 card instead if you don't have it, then you would be able to rock front and rear 3.0, but it isn't that important to me personally. 28 bucks for a decent case shipped... and 18 if you want to do the rebate.... not too shabby really. |
touche but then you are paying 26.4% of what you paid for the case just for an adapter:D
|
|
Dang code didn't work for me.

YMMV. code will only work if you received their loyalty coupons email. code is tied to email addresses that actually received the email. otherwise, the rest are out of luck, like me
|
Read the rebate form. The rebate terms trouble me.
-postmark within 20 days. -Allow 12-16 weeks for processing. -After 3 months, we will not be able to answer any non-approved rebate inquiry. Anyone have experience with Cougar rebate ? |
So this is supposed to show up for $18? I see the price as 60 - 25 instant -10 mail in = $25.

EDIT: Oh, but still a dirt cheap case and definitely not the ugliest I've seen. Good buy on a budget. |

Snagged one of these as soon as I saw the promo code in my email. I'm tempted to grab the gold rated 1050w PSU from them also but not planing a monster build any time soon.
|
Rebate may need some calling to get. Good price before rebate though.

Quote:
, but it also states: allow 12-16 weeks for processing, here is another: Please do not call or inquire status before 10 weeks for your rebate status. we will not have an answer for you. So, better not forget to check the status after 10 weeks, there is only a small window to check before they trash it, that is if something is wrong, for in-house city of industry rebate I would be very careful. |

Sigh. Damn you, OP. Thanks but damn you.
|
Really poor design. Watch the video, at 1:34, you'll have to remove the PSU to clean the PSU dust filter.

Evidently, they require the Invoice with the Invoice number shown. The receipt that you print out from NewEgg does *not* show the invoice number on it. I circicled the order number, but that was not correct, so they disqualified it. I ended up sending a screen-shot of my order status dashboard, which is the only place that the Invoice number is show. They did eventually approve it. Looking at the new rebate form, they actually state that you need to circle the invoice number vs. the order number. The only invoice that NewEgg provides is the Invoice email, which they send out about a day after the order ships. Usually emails don't qualify, but maybe it's the one to use. Or maybe NewEgg has another official invoice? Anyways, be very careful...you have been warned!! |

I like cougars. Lots of good experience with them. Just so you know, they run kinda hot. as we all know, it's what's under the hood that counts.
|
Was about to click the trigger, but i think this one use bottom power supply. Does anyone know how hot will it be? Especially when it only includes 1 fan for 7 slot expansion. I also consider the fact that i would end up to spend another $30-50 for power supplies and more fans. What do you guys think?
|
Needs lots of fans but the 4 pack of CM 120's for $8 that I got will work.

1. Log into your newegg account. 2. Go to your dashboard. 3. Scroll to the bottom and you will see "Recently Purchased Products" 4. Click the invoice number to the right of the item you purchased. 5. A new window will open with the invoice showing order number and invoice number. 6. Print, submit, profit. |
coupon isnt working for me either and i also have subscription.
i had considered that rosewill last week for $30 but didnt pull the trigger. |
I think it just went dead as they jack up the price. It's $29.99 now AR/AC.
|

(well he asked!) |
appears dead as drymonkey stated... it's now 29.99 ar/ac :( nice deal tho when it lasted
|
"cougar"
"turbine" "hyper-spin" f*** yeah!! |

someone mind telling me why the case doesnt have a header instead of a damn usb cable?
you will have to get an adapter or pull the cable around the case to the outside to use the port, lol |
Quote:
Caveat however is that there is a pretty short length limit with 3.0, you may be asking for problems using what's essentially an extension cable. |

But what really REALLY chaps my cheese on this is that the case is listed for $34.99 in the list!!!! Go look at it or toss it in your cart and the price jumps to $49.99. |

Here is what you do: 1)login to newegg 2)click on user namer (upper right) 3)dashboard page shows up 4)scroll all the way down to where it says: Recently Purchased Products (not recent order status) 5)click on invoice number that will get you the right invoice to print with invoice number on it, the Golden egg is making it interesting;) |

For those that got the targeted e-mail from Newegg that OP's code for this deal came from, there is a 20% OFF ALL Case Fans! code BTENBHN55 that expires 8/26. That would make the well rated $13.99 COOLER MASTER R4-S2S-124K-GP 120mm Case Fan 4 in 1 pack ~$11.19 (~$3.80 per fan) after discount. Free shipping for all, also ShopRunner eligible. That's better than newegg or Amazon regular price, but it's no deal unless you have to order now. Hard to believe that's the best I could easily find. |

And another thing. Unless you have a particular reason for needing more, just one case fan is adequate with a reasonably efficient power supply. (Often, zero case fans is adequate but one is probably a good idea.) More is not better unless you like white noise.
|
Just wanted to check, is everybody using the barcode marked "SOLUTION 871520008346" for the UPC code? It's the only thing I can find on the box that looks like a correct UPC. Thanks.

That was my best guess thanks for the response.
|
Great deal! Got the case today. I'm no expert but I liked it! Used it. I havent built a system for a while but have few qs:
1. No reset switch? Is that typical nowadays? 2. No built in motherboard speaker (for motherboard beeps in case of boot time error, etc)? Is that also the norm? Is there better way to get those sounds via HD audio or something like that? is ebay best source of this speaker if needed? Also, the HDAudio cable is short with my motherboard in my opinion. It barely made it - and is almost intruding over my PCI slot's airspace. |

It should be on the top lid, next to "Solution".
|
Checking back to see if anyone has gotten this rebate yet?
Also, did anyone save the rebate form who could post it here, for reference? I can find a newer one on Newegg, but not the one for this sale. |
