damn, super tempting! FP soon

richierich1212 08-31-2012 03:34 AM

Holy shit smoking hot. I bought my open box Z575 from Newegg for $399.99 when new ones went for $499.99 and it's really good. Too bad this one doesn't have 6650M like mine, though. But still, $279.99 AR is awesome.

bfauble83 08-31-2012 04:53 AM

Thanks OP, my laptop died this week was hoping for a good deal & I just found it!

cdv2019 08-31-2012 05:14 AM

Bought one for $280. Thanks!

shackrock 08-31-2012 05:18 AM

Awesome price but I won't touch anything in the 15" size under 900 p resolution

Roja 08-31-2012 05:40 AM

Is the rebate only for students ? Also is there a limit for 1 rebate per household ? I need 2 laptops

kelemvor 08-31-2012 06:20 AM

How does the AMD Quad-Core A8-3520M (1.6GHz) Processor compare to the i5 3210M (2.5GHz)?

And how do the graphics cards compare?

AmazingJason 08-31-2012 08:06 AM

Wow this deal is better than the Target $250+tax laptop (I'm in NY). Better processor, bigger hard drive, better graphics, better brand name (Lenovo)

angrysquirrel 08-31-2012 08:16 AM

In for one @ 279.99! Awesome keyboard!

cuetoon 08-31-2012 10:26 AM

Just picked up one of the A8's.

At ~$350 ($480 -$100 rebate -$15 rebate -$15 FWCB), this deal is hard to beat ... unless the 720p is awful.

Reps to you, OP, and thanks.

FU Newegg!! How many were in stock?....10?? I saw this at work 2 hours ago and planned on buying one as soon as I got home. Now I'm home and the stupid laptop is sold out!
WTF!! I can literally feel my blood pressure rising! I'm sure we'll see a bunch of losers listing this laptop on Ebay in a couple days. They made the purchase just so they could get a free $100 gift card.

I hate social media! Who are the 22 retards who "liked" this on facebook? You just had to let all your stupid friends know about the laptop for sale? And the one a-hole who tweeted it?
"Hey everyone, theres a great laptop deal on Newegg"! What a great tweet you POS! Dumb MF'ers giving free advertising to companies.

I think my head is going to explode!

Lenovo Z575 itself was $279.99 after rebate but if you add a targus bag ($30), as a combo deal, you get a $61 discount making it $248 after $100 rebate. I am attaching the receipt..

Its just a beginning of the labor day sale. You may find an equally good or even a better deal. Dell released some coupons for business this morning and they had i5's for $310 (no rebates)..

And thats the problem. If your not a loser who sits home all day and has no job, you cant keep on top of these deals. These online deals cater to people who dont work. Most people who were at work today, missed out on this deal.

Its no different than the big sales at B&M stores. Normal, working people cant get the best deals at the stores because they're working! And what you end up with is a store filled with lowlifes who can stand outside a store all night because they dont have to worry about making it to their job on time the next morning.

I'm not calling people here at slickdealz lowlifes. I'm just generalizing.

I just setup a Deal Alert to email me any time there's a 5 thumbs deal for that exact reason. I'm always on email but never on the site unless I see something good.

arest16 08-31-2012 01:26 PM

And as I already said, they probably only had 10 for sale. Notice how all the other Lenovo laptops are still available and have gotten many more facebook "likes" then the $279 one. It seems obvious that they have a boatload of the more expensive laptops. They lure you in with the amazing $279 deal and then once you realize its sold out, they hope that you'll consider buying the $349 laptop since it "only" $79 more.

So is the A8 I just bought not such a Slick Deal? Wife needed a Windows laptop for school and when she gets one I inherit her 2011 Macbook Pro. Thinking of canceling this now and waiting for something better.

Dude, this was a seriously good rant!

But look, popping a vein over something like a missed laptop deal will shorten your life and diminish its quality. There will always be more deals and BETTER deals in the future. So think of this as a benchmark to beat for the laptop you eventually buy. Look forward to looking back on this one and thinking, 'Ha, I got a better deal than that!'.

A rep and a hope that SD brings you only good and doesn't contribute to your early demise.

I see nothing about being a student to get the prepaid visa. I know at staples you had to have student id to get the discount for the lenovos. I will repost in this thread if there are any issues with the rebate.

Thanks to the op, I can't believe I'm finally getting a new laptop for that cheap!

and you can also follow SlickDeals on twitter - the send a tweet out right at the time that a deal hits the Front Page - averages about 17 per day - just set up a column in TweetDeck or some other Twitter client and you will know instantly when something is FrontPage.

Agreed.. Too many but this is a Z series w/6gb ram and is one of the slickest of the Lenovo deals right now for those not wanting to spend $500+ or get a "scratch and dent".. Believe me, I have been looking a lot.

The number ends with a G means it's integrated, if it's M then it's dedicated, if it ends with G2 that means it's hybrid crossfired. In this case it's integrated.

It's not a gaming machine but a general purpose machine with better than average gaming capabilities. Besides this is a Llano based APU so it'll overclock like a beast.

I game on my a8-3500m with the 6620g and 8gb of ram (ram is important as the integrated graphics will take 2-3gb) at medium to high settings (usually 30+fps) for most recent games, you can even do an overclock on the cpu using k-stat10 for a bump in performance when it starts to chug.

Thanks. I'm glad my pain and frustration has given you a good laugh. But I've taken your advice into consideration and although I have calmed down since yesterday, I'm still upset with the social media people. I wish people could just stop telling the world every single thing they see and do. :shake: Theres no need to tell people about a great laptop deal if those people have no intention on buying a new laptop. Cuz even tho they dont need a new laptop, they feel they should buy it just because its such a good deal. Then the rest of us losers who actually need a new laptop but dont have big bux to spend on one, end up missing out on the deal.

Ok, I'm better now!:D

arest16 09-04-2012 04:35 AM

Just to put an end to this thread....isnt amazing how all of a sudden, on Tuesday morning when the sale ended, Newegg has this computer back in stock for FULL PRICE!?!?!

I'll say it again, FU Newegg!

I've been a longtime customer, but that might have ended after this bs. So the entire time, you obviously had these laptops in stock, you just chose not to sell anymore and claimed they were "Sold Out"?

Oh well, I'm done with Newegg. Not including the super sale items like this laptop, I can typically get the same deals on Amazon that Newegg has. Plus I have prime so I get free 2 day shipping. My money will no longer be going to Newegg. I knew this was a dirtbag move by them.

Congrats to the few who were able to get in on the deal!

How is viewing angles on the screen? Ordered a 570 but haven't opened it. Thinking about replacing an Asus that has bad viewing angles and a frustrating touchpad.

Also, any comments on battery life? Anyone able to find a 9-cell battery that will work with this?

dadud3r 09-06-2012 04:20 PM

I am comparing this to a five year old Z81m so it's probably not very fair... for $280 after rebate it is a great deal.

The screen is wide and seems adjustable.... I prefer a Thinkpad for the Trackpoint but I am finding the touchpad fine... it is a little annoying with the zooming but I just need to get used to it...

Costanza1 09-07-2012 03:11 PM

Got my computer and thanks so much to the Op. This computer looks really cool. The screen is relatively large and I like the feel of the touchpad. I just hooked up a mouse cause I hate touchpads. My old laptop was an ancient toshiba so this was quite an upgrade. I'd been checking slickdeals for last year and always missed other laptop deals.

I am gonna cut out the upc and send in the rebate on Monday. Will update when I get my rebate.

BinkyBill 09-10-2012 01:42 PM

Well, after much research I decided to sell off my Asus laptop for a Z575. I also had the option of getting the Z570 (Intel i5 CPU) but chose the AMD A6 in the Z575 b/c of the superior graphics.

Opened it up and am quite happy so far. Beats my Asus hands down in touchpad and screen brightness. It seems well built and I really like the brushed alluminum shell. Lenovo's "extra" software, which I normally delete without a thought, actually seems pretty minimal and useful.

For $280 couldn't be happier.

bfauble83 09-24-2012 06:48 PM

How long does it take for the rebate status to update on the website? I mailed my documentation almost 3 weeks ago, but the site still says "Your Rebate Has Been Entered Online. Documentation Has Not Yet Been Received To Process" I realize it takes up to 2 months to receive the rebate, just wasn't sure if it takes that long for them to receive the docs.

Edit, now it says it is being processed.

I also sent it out about 3 weeks ago, haven't heard anything. Where did you check on the site where it tells you it is being processed? Thanks for the info

You can check your rebate status here [tradeonemktg.com].

I sent mine in on 9/6 and they still don't show having received it. Not time to panic yet, though. Probably just running slow.

They also say though
ALLOW 6-8 WEEKS FROM DATE OF SUBMISSION POSTMARK

so yea, they are taking their time. Earning interest on my $100.

Did you do the online submission before mailing in your UPC & paperwork?

You are correct that you didn't have to submit anything online. However, it does mean that you shouldn't assume anything is wrong. I submitted online and then mailed in and they still have not recorded that they received my paperwork. I would surmise that when those who submitted online show that their paperwork has been received that yours would show up shortly thereafter.

Thanks for the info. I shall be very sad if I do not get my $100. Perhaps I will visit the Chinese Embassy if that happens.

NO record of my rebate and they are saying they can't do anything! Gave me Lenovo's general number and they declined to help and asked me to contact newegg. WTF. Waiting for a call back from newegg. Any tips anyone?

If you kept copies you will be fine. Just resubmit. If you don't have copies you are pretty much SOL.

I have the copies. I called them and they did not give me any option to resubmit. How do I resubmit? Thanks.

Just call them back and tell them that they lost your stuff, but you made copies and are ready to re-submit. You shouldn't have to get ugly, but if they still won't help, ask to talk to a supervisor. If that doesn't work threaten to call the BBB (and follow through!)

I called newegg and they seemed to be ready to help. Got me to email all the documents and said I would hear back in 24 hours. Fingers crossed.. will post an update tomorrow or sooner if I hear from them. Thanks for the tips.

Thanks for the link. I just checked mine and saw this message. "Rebate Status: Processed - Next step is to mail your rebate card. Please allow 2-3 weeks for delivery."

Does this mean they are mailing the visa rebate card now?

LABOR DAY REBATE PROMO - 2012 USA Rebate Redemption/Request Form

Anyone else's laptop crap out already? A couple weeks ago mine suddenly started freezing within a couple minutes of turning it on. Hopefully the warranty process isnt' too difficult.
