Galaxy Tab 7? or 10.1?
 

So i cant seem to be able to find a straight answer online on which model is more popular, so i'm gonna give SD a shot again :).

The Galaxy Tab 7? Or the 10.1? Which do you find more commonly on the streets? (If you find any... amongst the ipad horde haha).

So, you are buying them just based on their popularity or functionality / practicality?

Either way, i would go for the Glaxay Tab 7. :)

I've never seen either of them in the wild.

I see 90% iPads, 5% Kindle Fires, and a stray HP Touchpad, Nexus 7, or Blackberry Playbook once in a rare while.

I see more GT7s. They're more portable than their 10" brethren.

I would say there's probably more GT7s on the streets in general, if only because they're cheaper. I don't think the portability difference is that large to be honest - otherwise you wouldn't see that many ipads either! In my line of work (I work at a tech firm), however, I do see a lot more 10" tablets of all brands, but that's because 10" models are simply more functional.

That said - I don't really see either of these specific models much. Given the crowd whose tablets I normally see, the most popular besides ipads would probably be the transformer models.

Does it have to be Galaxy? Are you an Android fan? What about Apple? The Microsoft Surface is out. The 10" Galaxy Tab is about same price as iPad Mini or even iPod Touch if not more (it's $349 on Amazon). I been using the Touch and I love it.

I never used my Samsung Galaxy Tab 7". It sat there totally unused, despite the fact that I rooted it and put Gingerbread on it and had some nice games. I liked it, it worked well, very responsive, but it's just too big. I can't take it everywhere with me like my Touch, not to mention it wasn't the lightest thing in the world either. The camera was ok, not as good as my Touch and the apps for picture editing are better for iOS.

As far as which tablets I see most often in the streets, definitely iPad. iPad's are really popular in exhibition halls for displaying slideshows or for ordering stuff. Have a friend with a HP Touchpad and co-worker and an Aunt with a Kindle.

Whatever you do, after you get your tablet, load up some musics on it, get the Logitech Wireless Speaker Adapter (bluetooth), attach it to some decent portable speakers, and enjoy good sound. Oh, you might want to check the bluetooth adapters on the Galaxy series of tablets. Samsung used a weird one on the 7" tablet (first series, I think the second series was ok) and it couldn't handle a lot of the common bluetooth devices. It was very finicky what it would pair with and what it wouldn't.

The original Galaxy 7" tab could be used as a phone. Not sure if that's important, but I was able to make a few calls. It's too large to hold up to your face for a long time and my bluetooth earpiece was not compatible with it. That's one of the problems I have with the Galaxy Tabs, it's running a phone OS on a tablet. There's nothing wrong with this per se, cause my iPod Touch is the same thing, but there's a world of difference between Ice Cream Sandwich (that's what I'm running on my Galaxy S2 phone) and iOS 6. One OS feels like it's designed by geeks, for geeks and the other is very polished and designed for a smooth user experience. iOS inspires me to want to use it, whereas my Galaxy S2 is strictly for calls and voice navigation. I don't like playing around with it cause ICS seems kind of rough.

Galaxy Tab 7 is better tahn the 10.1 just in my opinion ... don't know all the technical aspects

I have a Tab 2 7"..

It works great and is a lot better then iPad products (not to mention a lot cheaper), my gf has one so I have compared the 2.

The difference between 7" and 10" is complete for what you want to use it.. in house? Watching video or doing some real work.. get the 10"..

More for travel, in the bus / train? Get the 7" one..

Cons: No microSD card slot; Sub-par cameras; App selection still skimpy

The Verdict: Samsung's Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus is a seriously powerful tablet that doubles as a super-smart TV remote.
