FOR THOSE HAVING ISSUES WITH REDEMPTION:

EDIT: So I actually go through with TWC and found out some good information.

The gift card is handled by TWC while the Xbox is handled by BB. You should get a flyer in snail mail from TWC and then go to twc.com/holidaypromo. You should also get an email from BB regarding the Xbox, but like many others, I did not receive one. Call 888-237-8289 (Best Buy #) and explain the issue, they will probably forward you to BB business, but the guy there knew of the Xbox issues and was emailing the "project" team which will contact me (maybe... possibly, if the stars align I guess)

To save time, call directly to BB's promotions department (you'll be directed there if the rep knows what he/she is doing.. and if not, you'll be sent to the wrong place, as I have been).

800-892-2253 - this is actually a time warner number good for calling about the gift card not the xbox

Might be YMMV

Additional $25 Visa Card - Instead of getting the premium channels for 3 months you can request the TWC BB Rep to get you the SHOWTIME for 12 months FREE and get $25 Visa Card after 3 months of TWC service with Showtime and then 8 to 12 weeks to process the rebate.

Also note, over by the Kindle and ereaders, Best Buy sells Kindle gift cards in various increments. They can be used to purchase anything on Amazon. (In case you were wanting to convert your gift cards to something more usable)

You can cancel with no penalties/cancellation fees before 90 days but your not going to get the $150 gift card. Your not going to want to cancel before then anyways because you'll have all the movie channels within that period

What other cable provider is giving you a $150 GC and an XBOX 360 for free?

slick......wait for it..... deal

Why not???? Time Warner has all the channels right now. Granted they are high on the prices, but what cable provider isn't right now. And no contract? We're moving and I think I'm going to change the cable service to my name just because of the deal.

Amen... Triple play with taxes and fees is about $115 w/ modem and router included, 1 hd/dvr box, 10mbps internet speed, 220+ channels, and nationwide phone. SoCal atleast.. prices may vary upon your area. that's hard to beat to be honest.

10 mbps is the standard but you can get 20mbps service added.

MetalMASK 10-28-2012 12:28 AM

so.....let's see if I get this right

if one go sign up for TWC in BestBuy BM (make sure one carries such promotion), pays $99+tax (say $110ish for WA residents) for 3 months, BestBuy will send a free XBOX360 2 months after sign up, and send a $150 BB gc 3 months after.

if you cancel right after 3 months, total out of pocket should be $330-ish, and you get a XBOX360 ($199 retail) and $150 GC.

It's like TWC is paying you $20 to use their service for free for 3 month? (provided that you wanted to buy a XBOX360 anyways). sounds almost too good to be true, especially considering this is coming from a cable company.

Any punishment for cancel after 3 months?

edit: [no deal for me], checked and found that TWC doesn't have service for my home (in Bellevue, WA), bummer.....

OopsMyDeals 10-28-2012 12:42 AM

Wonder if this deal apply to current customer's who for say drop Time Warner and sign up again?

tashayar 10-28-2012 12:55 AM

My building is a TWC building. See all these great deals for new customers but since they know we are stuck there is nothing sweet to keep current customers. Definitely sounds like a great deal if you were looking for cable/internet. Never tried their phone service.

Says that you can in the OP. TWC required me to return my equipment before they officially cancelled, though. :D

Not entirely true. If you call, threaten to cancel, they usually lower your rate to current promo rates for 6 months (used to be a year). Just repeat it as needed. You have to call during daylight business hours to speak to the CSR's that handle departing customers (forget the name).

Also, you could just cancel, return the equipment, & sign up again if the deal is lucrative enough. ;)

hitechgurl 10-28-2012 01:41 AM

I'm thinking about getting this deal but which so cal best buy is doing this promo? Has anyone been able to replicate this deal? Just wondering...

Demonstrable 10-28-2012 02:09 AM

I wish I could get TWC instead of Cox but I would need to move about 5 miles west in order to do that.

TheOldinOut 10-28-2012 03:18 AM

Anyone know if there's a timeframe that you have to be cancelled from any TWC service before you are considered a "new customer" again? I only have their cable internet service right now. Thanks.

They recently added a $4 monthly lease fee, so I coincidentally returned their model last week and bought my own to use. :lmao:

I wonder if we can just sign up after a few days from cancelling their internet.

I have been looking into buying my own modem as well. Which model did you get? In NY, the only models that are docsis 3 compatible (support the higher speeds) are the Motorola SBG6580 (modem + router) and Motorola SB6141 (just modem). I want to use my own router (simultaneous dual-band N router) so I'm considering the SB6141, but can't find it for less than $110. That would take 2 years to break even with the $4/month TW bills, assuming it doesn't die before 2 years. I am having trouble justifying getting my own modem, but really don't want to shell out $4/month extra to TW just out of principle.

Which modem did you go for and what did you spend?

I saw reports of others successfully arguing with TW to get unapproved modems activated, but if I'm going to spend $$ on a modem, I want it to be future-proof (TW technology will soon require the newer modems) and I heard if you have a problem with an unapproved modem , you are SOL even if it is TW's fault.

Repeating yourself as if you're reaffirming your stance, but all you're reaffirming is that you don't understand the meaning of contracts and ETFs. There is a difference between Early Termination Fees versus staying a minimum length in order to receive freebies.

You're free to leave, just don't expect the free goodies. What do you want? Get their gift card and xbox and cancel the very next day? LOL!

OK, I guess since I currently am not getting turbo anyway, I should go the docsis 2.0 route. For $25 it would only take 6 months to break even.

I see on http://www.timewarnercable.com/en...modem.html

that the SB5101 and SB5101U are available to use. Do you know the differences?

Edit: I just looked on amazon for a SB5101U (apparently newer than the SB5101) and they are 60-70. I see used for $25 shipped. Did you buy used?

yes, he did get it used. I am also considering this route since I think they added tax on top of the services tax (correct me if I am wrong) my bill is a mess. I just have that feeling that 2 years down the road I may upgrade to Turbo or TW may just stop supporting these modems.

Regardless, REP OP for the nice deal will check it out after Sandy leaves the New England area.

Yes I bought it used as mentioned in my post ;)

Activating the modem over the phone wasn't bad, it was the wait to return the modem at the service center that was bad. O well, hate being nickel and dimed by a monopoly - especially after they raise rates on us like we have viable options.

Yessir! That includes a modem, router, a Single Room DVR equiptment, and SHOWTIME for 12 months, 10mbps internet, and nationwide phone service!

You may lower your monthly rate by purchasing your own modem and/or router.

For SoCal customers the Best Buy TWC reps are doing free installation and activations as well :bounce:

Read the OP. Almost positive it's in there.

i'd wait until is all cancelled to make an appointment for your "fresh" installation.

i have til saturday to take this promotion, but im cancelling tomorrow and return equipment

then wait for the next day to sign up for the deal.(is this a dumb move?)

no other promotions has ever been as good as this one that im aware of, there has been other similar like "a 100 gc for customer to switch" and that kind of thing, but this is one is worth going thru the hassle of cancelling and signing up again.

the thing is that im reading a lot about people taking about signing up with their wives names, and im going to try to sign up with my previous name.. is that going to ruin everything for me?

and how many days would i have to wait to get my new installation?

i honestly could not tell you if it that'll work or not.. I know it'll take a few days from the time if sign up to the time of the actual installation. roughly around 4-7 days i believe depending on how busy your area is.

it's definitely worth a shot.

GIFT CARD UPDATE:
I know there were some concerns about having to prove you are switching in order to receive the gift card, which is not the case. There are NO requirements to prove switching when buying directly from a Best Buy location.

put this on the OP.

FWIW, I had time warner cable, they raised the rates, I cancelled the service and returned my modem. I then created a new service account (same day) with the same name and got the new member pricing.

I don't think they care. Time warner sucks, but it's the only option for some of us.

This is super tempting, but not sure it's worth the hassle.

I already have internet and cable card at my house. Wondering if this is worth the hassle to have the wife sign up, return my equipment, then cancel 2-3 months later, and sign back up for cable card + internet only....

Decisions, decisions...

I went into Best Buy and got in for $89.99/mo Triple Play with 1 HD-DVR. Pretty sweet deal. Only thing I'm worried about is this seems to be non-contract which means they could raise their rates at will. I will cancel after I receive my incentives if they do that too often. I will pay up to $110 a month for this combo (not including premium channels).

It will be nice to blow the dust off my old cordless phones and get them working again.

I'm really excited about getting a free Xbox 360. That ish just doesn't happen very often.

Just went to BB but they have no TWC kiosk there. The BB staff took my info and confirmed the promo and submitted the order. However, I need to call TWC to schedule an appointment for installation. I don't have to pay anything at BB. Is this okay? Will I receive the free xbox + $150 BB gift card doing this method?

Yes, but the account has to be on a different name.

I believe TWC considers you a new customer after 90 days after you cancel.

have some one else sign up for you under their name, then cancel over the phone and they will tell you to return the equip for final billing in the mean time you can schedule your installation appointment so you have calculate when to return it before the installation guy goes to your house, is tricky.

in that way you dont go without service, god im good :)

i don't think twc allows you to sign up service under one address if you already have service...name doesn't matter. Once they put the address it will show up if you have service or not.

i was able to schedule my appointment once i cancelled the first account, i have to return the equipment before they come, i did it and it worked, just to your bb sign up( you dont have to pay anything upfront ) and do exactly what i say.

Finally had the time to sign up. TWC rep at the Fullerton BB was nice and she made it painless and straight forward as possible. $109 was my total, almost the same price i was paying before and that was only cable and internet with no dvr.

I also got the showtime for free for 12 months that has a $25 visa gift card after 3 months. So Free xbox, free $150 bb gc and a free $25 visa gc! Slickdeal! Well worth it for not having internet and cable for a week while we wait for installation.

Cant wait to get the xbox so I can start playing assassins creed 3 that I already bought.

No, this deal is only available @ BestBuy BM. The CS must scan promotion bar codes for the Xbox and $150 gift cards.

kaina 11-03-2012 09:41 PM

You do not need to return your equipment before scheduling the install or before the time of install.

I was able to schedule install after husband called to cancel. No need to return equipment to schedule if the cancellation call is on record for the address. We have until the end of the month to return the equipment, install should be here on Thursday.

lostdecoy 11-04-2012 08:53 AM

So do you HAVE to put the account in a different name when signing back up? Looking to do this for family, they have phone and basic TV and wanted to cancel and resignup for Triple Play.

mikeyeastside 11-04-2012 08:54 AM

Anybody get this done at any of the Manhattan Best Buys? What plan/rate did you get? Thanks yall!

Just signed up in San Diego for the 89.99 bundle. Can't wait for my GC and Xbox. The rep said nothing about existing service conflict. I'm going to cancel U-Verse Friday night and the TW arrives Saturday morning. So happy to get rid of AT&T. So long and good bye. THANKS OP & REPPED

Best Buy had an add in the local sales paper for my area this morning for this deal.
They have a weblink you can go to for more info: http://www.bestbuy.com/twcoffer which takes me to http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Brand...=rdr100479

it doesnt say anything on that page about the offer not being good for your area unless I assume you dont live in a TWC serviceable area, or you live in Hawaii. If some BB employee says they dont know anything tell them its on their website, may have to speak to the manager.

Thanks for the link! The terms conflict on BB site it says, " If you choose to receive the Xbox 360 4GB console via Best Buy in-store pickup, it will be available at your designated Best Buy store the same day you place your order," but then reading further it says, "Within fifteen (15) days after installation of your new service, Best Buy will send you an e-mail that contains easy-to-follow instructions for claiming your Xbox 360 4GB console." Anybody have the number for the monkeys who put this deal together? :)

It may not be their intent to make this a national deal, as the terms say, "geographic and other eligibility requirements are set forth in the promotional materials describing the specific offer to which you are responding." What area are you in?

North Carolina, the deal originated in California correct? Seems national to me!

Just called a Best Buy at the gateway shopping center in Austin, TX and they confirmed they have this deal.

Dont forget you can also get $25 visa gift card after 3 months if you choose Starz for 12 months for free instead of the other movie channels for 3 months for free.

Per the BB TWC rep, you have to wait 15 days after intall and activation, which then you will get an email after that date so you can place your order for pick up or ship. I am guessing that email you get has a coupon code to get the xbox for free.

Thanks Twindad.

I got the promo with the BB TWC Rep. You can ask for it and they will give you the rebate form, its a small 4x3 paper. I will post it on Friday when I get my internet back. Currently using my phone for internet.

ISeeSpot 11-06-2012 12:54 AM

can i have standard cable service through them already to qualify?

twindad 11-06-2012 03:20 AM

Talked w/ a TWC rep who left his card @ my local BB. I can order directly through him (he has the BB codes needed to scan to get the free xbox & gift card). Since I already have internet only through TWC, I can call today to cancel on a future date (about 4 business days away, when they have a an available install window) so I will only be down for a few hours instead of days. This way, I will only lose my current email accounts.

hd50hd 11-06-2012 03:46 AM

billboard signs around here get
$500
bestbyuy card twc,com???
website shows $150 ????

daake07 11-06-2012 03:46 AM

I was driving through Lincoln yesterday and noticed a TWC sign advertising a $500 BB gift card for new customers.

That might be worth checking into.

Hd50hd beat me to it...and you're right the website only shows $150.

mrwhistles 11-06-2012 08:24 AM

So I just called to set up the pending cancellation. The rep made me choose a day which service would be cut off completely and 10 days additional to return the equipment which seems slightly different then what people have been saying. Did you guys need to set a specific date as well? Either way, I chose a day a week and some out and I'm going to go to BB now with my wife to resubscribe.

I have the whole shebang. TV and Internet. I called this morning to cancel everything and went to the best buy literally 30 minutes later. Was all good. I just need to call and set up the install and my current service remains intact until the arbitrary date I chose (the 15th).

I initially went to a BB closer to work and the dude working there knew of the deal but was a real space cadet and said we should call the 1-800 number to sign up  I'd make sure to call the BB you want to go to and make sure they have someone on hand who can sign you up on the spot.

Hero76 11-06-2012 10:18 AM

no go in akron, ohio. reps here claimed time warner is not allowed to do that, then got swarmed by a dude from direct tv who acted like it was his duty to molest every customer...

mrwhistles 11-06-2012 10:30 AM

Am I just getting crappy CSRs? I called to schedule the install and they want to push it out to the 21st and no sooner. How are you guys overlapping service? Do I just need to call in and get a new rep?

EDIT:

Never mind. They let me do the 14th.

AkumaX 11-06-2012 10:40 AM

I have TWC now, but only for Internet. Think I'd qualify for the Triple Play offer?

Musgo 11-06-2012 12:56 PM

HTB 11-06-2012 02:16 PM

As much as I want to get into this promotion, I decide to continue using my AT&T Uverse as I can't get a TWC CS to schedule an installation appointment for the last 5 days. They just transferred me around and couldn't locate my order or service address even their website can find my home location. Guess I just buy an Xbox during BF myself.

I believe there is, it is called "porting". Tell them that you want to open a new account, but would like to port a number to the new account. Also I think the number you want to reusea still needs to be active for them to port it to the new account. So do not cancel your old account yet. You should talk to the BB TWC rep and tell them exactly you want to do. As long the new account is with a new name you should be able to get the promo.

In my experience, BB TWC rep are not strick on cancelling and resigning with a new name to take advantage of new customer promo.

I still do not see it. Maybe is a regional promo, depends on your zip code. However, $199 a month for the service to get a $500 GC? Not a good deal unless you already paying for this service. Unless there is no contacrt and you get the GC right away during the first month of service so you can cancel the following month or change to a lower service, but I highly doubt it.

Honestly, the way I have done this in the past was to go to dollar general, pick up one of those $7 trac phones, port your number to that and then finally port it to the destination service provider. I've done this when I wanted to go from a carrier back to the same carrier. Sometimes a carrier has issues porting a phone number back to itself. :D

This was to ensure that when my account was canceled that I knew for sure I would have possession of my number vs having it lost into a black hole.

might have to do this.. got screwed over by TWC (the account holder, who i live with). they said they "never received" a copy of our previous bill, requested we re-send it. by the time it was sent in, they said it was too late to receive the $150.

No the deal is for brand new customers only. There cannot be linking anything between old account and brand new account for promos

so what's the slickest way to do this?

1. Call to cancel your current service, set date X
2. Go to Best Buy, tell them you want new service (does it have to be a different name or not?) to start on date X+1
3. Register with code from install?

Yes that would be most efficient way. You can call and cancel your services, return the equipment at a later time. Go into a best buy and locate a customer kios or a Home theater rep. You order has to go through Best Buys internal Incomn system so you qualify for the Xbox.

I am able to offer expedited installs but only in the NYC and a few other zip codes.

After I went to Best Buy and the TWC Regional Account Executive wasnt there I got his card, called, and signed up over the phone with him, he claimed I will still get the freebies. I assume Best Buy will get my email or other contact info from TWC or the person who sets up the order over the phone, I dont know what the process is like in the store, does seem easier to do over the phone though.

Aozora7 11-08-2012 08:01 PM

When I went to Best Buy, they said that the specialist for TWC was only available on weekends (for my particular Queens/NYC location at least), so I ended up leaving my number. He called me back and I signed up for TWC (triple play) as a new customer - does this still qualify for the promotion then? I'm scheduled to have the installation done this Saturday (was given this date, but no time was scheduled...)...so if signing up over the phone doesn't qualify for the $150 GC/Xbox promo, I wanted to cancel it...

Also, I'm wondering if there is an installation fee? I was told that there is when I signed up over the phone, even though from reading this thread it doesn't look like there should be?

Thanks for your help!

You can pm me your Confirmation # and can check your order.
To qualify for the Free XBox it has to go through the BB incomn system

Extreme is probably the best deal it's 30/5

Time Warner Cable is slacking on their Internet speeds

Well at worst you will still get the $150 GC DVR and the free premiums
The XBox is specially for orders that originate from BB. Did you go to the Rego Park location or LIC?

As for fees

There is a 29.99 install fee for Triple play customers and a $25 phone activation
It was supposed to be free but it's not showing up in our systems.

mrwhistles 11-08-2012 08:17 PM

I called back the number that I was asked to call initially to set up my appointment and asked to have the install fee's waived. They did it without blinking an eye.

Aozora7 11-08-2012 08:41 PM

I went to the Flushing store (#1115).

Hm, now I'm wondering if I should cancel the appointment and try again at the store...

Is there a general number to call to have it waived or do I call back the original number I was provided?

Thanks for your time :)

Extreme is probably the best deal it's 30/5

Time Warner Cable is slacking on their Internet speeds

Does the Triple play offer include Standard or Turbo? When I originally signed up for TP three years ago they included Turbo, then downgraded me when the promotion was over.

AT&T Uverse sales guy stopped by yesterday and he was offering a 200 visa gc & a gift. You can pick from a Kindle Fire HD, 250gb 360 with 1 year live and something else that I don't recall. It is much more expensive though...

$140 a month for 2 cable boxes (you need one for each tv or you will be watching the same show as the person who has the box), 18Mbps down, and unlimited calling. Additional boxes are $7 a piece... Anyone have experience with Uverse and triple play? I have never had either so I am not quite sure Uverse is worth the extra ~$64 a month (I need 4 boxes if I use Uverse instead of TWC)

The Phone activation fee is mandatory.

It includes standard as of now
There is no triple play with an upgrade for internet speeds free.
Turbo can be added for $10 and extreme for $20

Update: I cancelled existing service and returned equipment, then stopped at Best Buy and signed up under wife's name (since my cancellation was still pending under their system). Installation is scheduled for tomorrow.

1) You may have to fight to get the reward VISA. Make sure you get a screen shot or email from ATT showing the $200 offer

2) ATT Uverse sound is YMMV. I can watch some shows with no problem. Definitely run into issues on large scale events, ie Super Bowl, World Series, anything that is being watched on a large scale. Their sound will actually cut out randomly. VERY annoying.

3) Their internet is VSDL. It maintains a good constant speed, but your ping suffers. Not a big deal unless you are an online gamer.

4) ATT billing is and has always been horrible IMHO. Watch your statements religiously.

I read somewhere that customers who upgrade to TWC’s premium SignatureHome service with Premium View can receive a $500 Best Buy gift card... can anyone provide more details on this? What is this SignatureHome service with Premium View?
