Awesome deal. I'm running the M3 version of this (very very similar) right now. Super fast and very reliable.

Unsure of whether or not to bite the bullet with this one or hope and pray for another Samsung 830 deal to come by.

I'd wait, nothing about this deal would warrant me jumping in right now.

This is an average S (Standard) SSD. The far better one is the P (Pro) version. I personally use the M2P on my Mac Pro and it does show its lighting speed.

I'm not sure about anymore 830 deals. It seems like all the 256gb are sold out everywhere.

Question is is the pro version worth almost double the price of this one. I think to many users this one is more than sufficient

Actually, you can still puchase 830s from amazon but at a regular price. People are hoping it would be something like $150 in a few weeks-bf!

The Pro version typically has write speed twice or more than that of the Standard.

Better, yes... but "far better" is a no.

"Far better" is what you get when you go from HDD to SSD.

Jackeduphard 11-05-2012 09:23 AM

Best SSD Ever. btw, i have two 128 in raid ... WOW is the word that comes to mind! YEAH BOY!

But if you want a rock solid SSD with the speed to make you wonder if you could ever go back to a spindle ... and reliablity like a 1988 toyota and honda hatch back getting 45+ MPG this is the SSD for you!

Um, why? SSD in RAID is a horrible idea.

Also, Samsung moved on to 840s, which is probably why they were clearing out the 830s.

is that in lux? or GBps :lmao:

masfet 11-05-2012 11:33 AM

SSDs are not that great in RAID. It has to do with the standby mode of the HDD Vs SSD. In addition, SSDs are still expensive (Gb/$1) for arrays.

cantonesejason 11-06-2012 03:13 PM

showing $241.47 for the 256 at Amazon now.
