Nice, I love me some DJ Hero, it's too bad this didn't catch on more than it did.

Votey 11-08-2012 08:30 AM

I love Rock Band, would I have $15 worth of fun with the DJ Hero 1 bundle?

You might, if you like the idea of simulation DJ scratching, cross fades, etc.

Has a great selection of songs too.

AirJordanTS 11-08-2012 08:55 AM

Too bad the Wii Guitar Hero bundle at the end of the list is sold out. Great price and I've been looking for a cheap full bundle for a while now. =/

halzeimers 11-08-2012 09:09 AM

Bought it last year on $10 clearance from Kmart........tried it once and it is still collecting dust. Not quite the same experience as guitar hero.

tuna629 11-08-2012 09:10 AM

I have 2 sets at home that I probably played once at most. Definitely try it before you buy it.

Same here. I don't think a lot of people listen to DJs so that's why it didn't catch on. Such a shame...this game felt so fresh compared to Rockband/Guitar Hero.

I think with the rise of Dubstep, a DJ Hero 3 could be a hit.

sanders 11-08-2012 09:15 AM

Can you use the music from DJ Hero 1 in DJ Hero 2? Just wondering since v2 comes with two turntables.

What about DJHv1 w/ one turntable & DJH2 license only. Will DJH2 play nice with DJH1 single turntable?

DrJKweezy 11-08-2012 09:20 AM

TY OP... got the hero 1 bundle and hero 2 game...

Urokira 11-08-2012 09:21 AM

i own a dj business on the side, and never got into this one, but it is a great deal if you need an "add on xmas present" ..... i am hoping that someone will have a rocksmith sale, as my son is learning bass, but i am sure he would learn faster playing the game.

cowguy 11-08-2012 09:30 AM

I am not particular in to electronic music but the DJ Hero 2 soundtrack is really great. Really got rave reviews when it was out.

djsatan 11-08-2012 09:45 AM

Is a fun reprieve in for one as the price is right and besides will look hilarious sitting next to my Kontrol S4

There's actually not a lot of electro music. It's mostly Hip Hop with a sprinkle of Rock, Alternative, and Electro music.

I like DJ hero much better than Rock Band; I like the turntable better than the guitar peripherals and I like the mash-ups a lot.

hahah exactly what I use! nice!!!!

dirtyvu 11-08-2012 09:59 AM

the music is really good and the mashups are very creative. gameplay is a lot of fun.

it has online and local multiplayer.

DJ Hero 2 is definitely the better game. All the little rough edges of DJ Hero 1 were smoothed out and refined.

DJ Hero 1 arguably has the better soundtrack. It also has guitar play but the guitar part has really generic notes so it's not as intricate as Guitar Hero or Rock Band. But the DJ stuff is great.

I say they're both totally worth it. It's so cheap! Remember these were originally $100-200 for the game and 1 turntable.

here's an example of DJ Hero on the Xbox:

I'm debating on picking up a 2nd turntable via the DJ Hero 1 bundle since I already have one...I assume the version 1 and version 2 turntables are the same, correct? How is the 2 player mode in DJ Hero 2?

Yeah turntables are the same. 2 player mode is pretty much as you expect, mostly it's two people playing the same song to try and get a higher score. There are a few 'battle' songs where it switches back and forth between player to player which is kind of neat.

I LOVE Rock Band as well, and I purchased DJ Hero when it first came out. I found that the music selection wasn't geared towards someone who likes contemporary music. It might have changed with DLCs, but I sold the game after a week of use.

Thanks...for $15, it might be nice to have two turntables...I'm in.

voidedx 11-08-2012 10:54 AM

I bought a couple bundles for gifts. Great deal.
The turn table is a very uncomfortable controller (trying to press the inner buttons vs spinning) ... more annoying than the songs themselves. I don't take it as seriously as Rock Band.

There are freestyle sections in the songs where you can mix or hit the red button for special sounds. It's first come first serve. Whoever starts DJ'ing first in those sections locks out the other player and can get a nice point advantage that way.

This is almost as good as the Best Buy clearance last year where the DJ Hero 2 bundles were only $10. I'm thinking about getting a party bundle for my cousin because he really liked playing mine.

Boba The Hut 11-08-2012 11:27 AM

Maybe I'll get this so I can practice my boomerang, orbit, 2 click flare, and stabs

krwa 11-08-2012 11:28 AM

UPS employees at a hub stole my shipment from a previous deal... =(

irconan 11-08-2012 11:36 AM

When I bought the DJ Hero 2 Party Bundle for Xbox 360, it came with both games even though it is nowhere mentioned that it does, not sure if it was an error because it was loosely packed in the Party box, and unboxing videos don't mention it. So you may get lucky!

You can only play DLC songs you've purchased for DJH1 in DJH2 (after you download the patch to do this). You cannot export the songs on the DJH1 disc to your harddrive to play on DJH2.

Yes, DJH2 plays fine with the DJH1 turntable. The DJH2 turntable is just put in packaging for the second game since it was the first time separate turntables were available.

pauladams11 11-08-2012 11:57 AM

Looks like the xbox DJH2 bundle is OOS now.

Ditto, got the PS3 version instead. Got the party bundle. will be playing with the wifey over the holidays! thanks OP!

Mixmode 11-08-2012 01:09 PM

As a REAL DJ, not a cheesy @ss jukebox wedding DJ, I'll say this game is sooo much fun. The mashups are well played and with 2 turntables to battle a friend is priceless. DJ Hero 2 is much better than the first. The DLC packs are also awesome. It's a shame some of you missed on the DJ Hero Renegade Edition a month or so ago. It was only $20.

dookie11 11-08-2012 01:46 PM

Debating getting the Wii or PS3 version. Anyone know if this will be compatible with Wii U? (I'd prefer the Wii version, as I wouldn't have to lug around my PS3 to a friend's house, vs. sticking a Wii U and this bundle into a backpack.)

Thanks!

Dubstep was already at its peak in 2010 when the first game was already out.

DJ Hero is more towards turntable where you're mixing two tracks instead of making a new track.

ssjpiccolo 11-08-2012 04:00 PM

Excellent buy for the price. As most people have already said, DJ Hero 2 is the superior version. Everything about 2 is so refined compared to 1. The track mixes are more creative, sound better, and are more fun to play.

I noticed a good amount of attention to detail in the 2nd version as well. In DJ Hero 1, you on screen DJ will wave his hands around, dance, etc while the music (and scratches) are still happening in the song. It detracted from the feeling that you and your turntable were controlling the music AND on-screen DJ. In DJ Hero 2, your actions on the turntable are synced with your on-screen avatar; you scratch, so does he. Even some of the songs are synced with specific actions.

If you appreciate what real, actual DJs do then you'll definitely enjoy masquerading as one. BUYYYYY

dirtyvu 11-08-2012 04:31 PM

yes, DJ Hero 2 is better. but that doesn't mean you shouldn't own DJ Hero 1 as well. it's still a great game. and at the bargain that game is, you really should own both.

and I prefer the mixes of DJ Hero1 as well. DJ Hero is already a niche market so it'll become harder and harder to find it. so get it while it's still out there. it's not like Call of Duty where discs are a dime a dozen.

EYEL1NER 11-08-2012 04:36 PM

I'll echo most everyone else as well and say that these games felt very fresh and I had a blast with them. I was very disappointed that they got overlooked by most because of the waning popularity of the rhythm genre and 'lol @ moar plastic instruments."
The mashups and remixes were really good. A lot were super-catchy. I listen to a couple of the songs frequently (especially The Killer's "Somebody Told Me" vs Eric Prydz "Pjanoo" and David Guetta "Love is Gone" vs Sam Sparro "Black and Gold," both of those were fantastic and I am not even that big a pop or club music fan).
Unfortunately music game fatigue kept too many people from taking a chance on them but now that they are cheap, there aren't much excuses.

I was really hoping there would be a cheap RB or GH guitar on there. I just bought a Pro guitar but want a cheap standard guitar at my current location for playing standard songs.

spacemanvt 11-08-2012 05:26 PM

hey guys, great thread.

if you are interested, Walmart.com is selling the DJ Hero 2 bundle (i am assuming 1 controller) for 16 bucks with free pick up. i didnt want 2 controllers so i went that route.

THX OP

got the DJ Hero 2 Party Bundles - Includes Game and (2) Turntables for PS3

smashdavis 11-08-2012 07:17 PM

anyone know if the PS3 microphone in the party bundle is compatible with rock band 3? I need another microphone and always wanted to try this game anyway?

dantheman2 11-09-2012 03:39 AM

There is a reason these are only $15 and not $150. I bought DJ Hero 2 Bundle last year for $25. It's meh, ok for one time of playing, but it's nowhere near as fun as Rock Band or Guitar Hero. The music is cool, but the game play is just boring after a short while.

nicerollin 11-09-2012 06:55 AM

Great game. I still play online

cchw 11-09-2012 07:38 AM

Thanks OP.

FYI. DJ Hero 2 Party Bundle Xbox 360 sold out.

TRU clearance sale was awesome last year, that is when i stocked up on all of these. Still $14.99 is a great price and slick deal!

protivakid 11-09-2012 09:06 AM

$15 shipped? Why not! Thanks!

if you only played it one time, you didn't get far enough for some of the crazy gameplay deeper into the game.

monkeyrat199 11-12-2012 08:25 AM

I ordered the Dj Hero 2 XBOX bundle on the morning of the 8th, and I checked on the order status today and saw that my order wasn't on the website anymore. I gave them a call and found out that they cancelled my order even though I got a confirmation email. Said they would refund the charge on the credit card in 3-5 days...

aznbeayst 11-12-2012 11:38 AM

Hey if any of you guys have an extra turntable and mic and are willing to sell/ship it will pay $25 shipped for an extra table and mic for Xbox. Please email me if interested.

Thanks

Got my bundle yesterday. I'm not sure if this was supposed to happen, but I received BOTH DJ Hero 1 and DJ Hero 2 game discs! WOWZA :) :)

Haven't tried it yet though, as Wii U comes out on Sunday.
