While I was browsing Walmart yesterday, I found an interesting item.

It was Nexus 10 32g!!! It was kinda late night so there was no one to ask it's for sale or not but it seems it's available now at Walmart.

IamJack 11-08-2012 12:34 PM

300ppi of non-optimized tablet apps!

phonic 11-08-2012 12:36 PM

That's the retail price. What's so 'hot' about it?

I guess the product is available next week?

Ah ok. I had no interest in the 10" model (though the N7 is friggin' awesome) so wasn't aware it wasn't released yet.

In that case, good post! Rep+4.

WM system will not allow them to sell items early.

I'm checking the walmart next to work later... thanks.

Good find -- Wish I knew if it were possible to leave with one.. :\

dzap 11-08-2012 03:11 PM

Damn. Should have bought it. You have enough time to make a quick buck on ebay.

deymayor 11-08-2012 03:15 PM

The resolution is unnecessary and the lack of sd card slot is insane. Just looking at the initial test results and i predict this to be $299 by year's end. Android is great on smartphones, let Apple and Microsoft duke it out on tablets.

Epic fail here. I love both my iPad (screen res primary reason) and my Android Tablets (power use ability). I easily use my iPad more however there are so many more things I love about my Android Tablets. Nexus 10 is legit. Would love to lose my Samsung Galaxy for it.

Yeah I was a little bit confused by the Nexus 10. I heard some rumors about it before it was launched and then still find it odd it launched.

It has an amazing display and the Exynos5 to back it up, but everyone complains about the tablet ecosystem thing. I have no issues with Nexus 7 and some apps that scale, but it's more apparent on my 8.9" TouchPad running ICS.

My guess is Google is trying to push it into people's hands so that more developers will make more tablet based apps.

Also since Apple has launched iPad Mini into Google's space with the Nexus 7 (and directly attacking it during the keynote. Jobs would have hit you in the head for doing something so petty), it was a comeback response I guess with Nexus 10 to compete with iPad.

are you bashing the nexus or ipad? i can't tell.

davucini 11-08-2012 03:34 PM

what came first the tablet optimized apps or the tablet? I dont understand why some are complaining about the ecosystem and how it is not developed. If there isnt a worthy tablet and tablet maker out there supporting and encouraging tablet optimized apps how do you expect the ecosystem to develop? If you are not buying one, thats great, but dont blame the ecosystem for the reason the tablet is bad.

Samzebian 11-08-2012 04:40 PM

does anyone have the SKU number for this so I could just call my walmart and not ask for a "Nexus 10," as some people might know it's not for sale yet

Awesome comment. Repped for giving me a good laugh.

Just picked up Nexus 7 at walmart yesterday. Glad I sold my ipad 3.

This nexus rocks! The software is much more mature than the Samsung tablet I looked at in February. I like the ability to customize the software, much better than the tight control of Apple.

Cost was about 50% of the similar Ipad mini.

The 10 apps I used on my ipad were all available for the nexus. I predict that by this time next year Apple tablet marketshare will fall from the current 50% to 30% (or lower).

iPad mini is a flop IMO. They really needed to release it with a retina display. Heck, every product has it except this mini. And they are charging a gold mine for it.

Product of the season IMO is the iPad 3, as far as large tablets go. Google's pricing on the Nexus 10 really set itself a bit high at $400, especially when the iPad 3 has been selling for $379 - not to mention being able to get it at Meijer this weekend with a new store for $309 plus tax.

This review says it all comparing the two tablets. I think as more and more people buy the tablet, they'll agree - the apps are just not optimized for 10" tablets yet. When they finally optimize them, the current tablets will be on a flash sale on Cowboom, and the latest and greatest will be taking their place. Google is playing catch up in a market that doesn't allow for lagging behind - at least as far as 10" tablets go. For Android smart phones and 7" tablets, that's the sweet spot. Nexus 7 16gb is a home run this season.

Apple has no incentive to produce good products. They could have taken some $70 Chinese Crap Tablet and stuck an Apple logo on it, sold it for $899, and had lines out the door. Their primary customer base doesn't care about specs, performance, etc. They just went The Next Big Apple Thing.

I too was a little shocked with the Nexus 10 pricing. I thought they would have sold them more in the $299 range.

davidhood 11-10-2012 07:09 AM

I'd bet nexus 10 will have a price drop after the holiday.

They are already selling it at cost? how far do you want it to drop, i'd be happy they had a version with micro SD but may be that is too much to ask

ben62884 11-13-2012 04:18 AM

I don't think any of my local Wal-Mart's are selling this. Went there tonight not much after midnite to pick one up and no one even knew what I was talking about...

gans 11-13-2012 03:06 PM

I have been looking for one too. Please let us know if someone bought it from anywhere other than Google store.

If the 16gb is at cost, then the 32gb has a profit margin. 16gb flash isn't $100.

The price difference between the two models (16 and 32) is $50, not $100. And no, before you say it, an extra 16GB of flash doesn't cost $50 either, so yes there is a bigger profit margin on that, but at least it's not iExcessive.

menace33 11-13-2012 03:19 PM

Went to my local Walmart about 3:45 pm ET and they had no such area allotted for the Nexus 10. I'm wondering if the brick & mortars are waiting until perhaps closer to Xmas to release their supply or waiting until the weekend.

Agreed. I'm actually quite surprised the 32GB Nexus 10 sold out. I underestimated it's popularity I guess, because I assumed most people would still think iPad or Surface or laptop at that price point.

It's definitely good for the Android ecosystem..it just..wasn't what I expected.

Check again. If you got the 32GB for $449 instead of $499, then please post the deal. 16gb is $399, making the price difference $100. You're in a N10 discussion, not N7.

And94 11-13-2012 03:44 PM

Walmart please come on.................

xyberz 11-14-2012 03:28 AM

Honestly I'm excited about the tablet with the world's highest resolution! The Nexus 7 is hands down the best tablet for the money and size and beats out a lot of the bigger tablets, including the one with the fruit! ;)

Anyway how amazing is it that Linux was ported to the Nexus 7! I'm SOOOO hoping that they are able to port it over to the 10 also. Wow, that'll be awesome! That's what I'm looking forward to and why I'm gonna get a Nexus 10.

Weird how a dual core can keep up with the smaller brother's quad core CPU and exceed it. But what ever. I liked the days when the bigger numbers meant faster processor. Now it's so convoluted and confusing that anyone out of the game for even a few years in the CPU market can easily get lost like it was a new language!

What is going On with Walmart and Google????

kabel 11-15-2012 02:12 PM

I can confirm that here in OK, my local Walmart has price labels for Nexus 10. I saw them two days ago, and today i thought that they could have them in by now, but still not available for purchase. I've asked when they will have them for sale, nobody could answer ... Which is kind of weird.
