Staples B&M - Toshiba 1TB Canvio 3.0 Portable Hard Drive $39.99 after PM + Staples Rewards coupon (YMMV)

Found this coupon in my Staples Rewards coupon wallet:

50 off Toshiba Canvio 3.0 External Hard Drive. 420670. Limit 1. Coupon code: 47901. Valid in store. Expires 11/10/12.

Toshiba Canvio 3.0 1TB Portable USB 3.0 External Hard Drive (Silver) [staples.com] (SKU: 420670).

Staples B&M price = $139.99 - Best Buy B&M price match = $89.99 - $50 off coupon = $39.99 + tax

Link to Best Buy product page [bestbuy.com] (SKU: 4668013).

If you want to PM elsewhere the Toshiba model number is HDTC610XS3B1.

BONUS TIP: While YMMV, in my experience Staples coupons will still scan until two days after expiration.

Unless you run into an idiot at the cash register, this is a no go:

"How do Staples coupons and rebates contribute to the Staples price?
All coupons and rebates (including Easy Rebates, instant rebates or savings, and Staples or manufacturer mail–in rebates) are deducted from the price of the Staples product when calculating a price match." You'll get them to PM or do the coupon, not both.

hzh003 11-09-2012 05:18 PM

yeah, but sometimes a nice manager will let u do price match and then use a coupon. It happen to me once.

Where do i get this coupon from. Also, how do i get Staples to PM? I am sorry I am new to all this. Should i take a Print of the best buy page showing the price to be 89.99? Also, where do I get a coupon from? Can i print it from somewhere?

Chididdy123 11-09-2012 05:20 PM

Hmm, you could try to sweeten the deal by using a $10 off $75 check in, then using the $50 off. Therefore $29.99+Tax. Of course, YMMV depending on if your cashier will do this

tparker8 11-09-2012 05:21 PM

The staples PM plus coupon thing rarely works, 99% of the time it's a waste to drive out there

You have to have the Staples App downloaded to your smartphone (android and iOS)

Or use this direct link to print out the coupon
[edit: wrong coupon]

You have to print out the best buy ad though. They don't take soft copies (showing them a phone or screen shot won't cut it)

bolland99 11-09-2012 05:22 PM

These sell for $80 on ebay so not a good deal at all without the PM part.

If you sign up for Staples Rewards [staples.com] and log into your account there is a tab labeled coupon wallet that printable coupons appear under from time to time.

You can try taking a printout of the BB page but usually they'll want to call the nearest store and verify stock/pricing in my experience.

tosaynet 11-09-2012 05:26 PM

worth a try, first thing in the morning

That's the wrong coupon. That will get you the $89.99 price without having to PM Best Buy. I used the 50 off coupon from Staples Rewards.

That sucks. Where do you live? 99% of the time it works for me. Probably because the cashiers all know me and like me.

Chris2 11-09-2012 05:37 PM

Uhh actually this isn't that hard to accomplish, I've done coupon + pm many, many times

I've tried multiple cities around TN, usually when I'm on business. No luck

Usually if you wait til the manager walks away, the cashier will take the coupon + pm. Depends on the store though

TDurga 11-09-2012 07:18 PM

seems to be good finding with both PM and coupon... anyone got this HD for 39.99

DoctorShawn 11-09-2012 08:28 PM

I have done this same thing twice a couple months ago with a 1Tb Seagate portable with best buy price mach and a $50 coupon. They came out to $29.99. First get the price mach and when the manager walks away give the coupon to the cashier at the last minute.
I will do it again tomorrow morning. Thanks OP.

You're welcome :)

spydersdeals69 11-09-2012 09:23 PM

Screw paying $40. Wait until manager walks away and simply pocket the drive for free. YMMV, of course.

Parato Optimal 11-09-2012 09:30 PM

Can someone post the coupon or a link to the coupon?
I'm a rewards member but I can NEVER login. They can look me up in their stores via my phone number but I can never login online.

saveitman 11-09-2012 10:32 PM

i cant believe some ehre says it works because when I ask they give a resounding no, I even try telling them I have a coupon last minute to see if they will throw it in, and always no.

ed310 11-09-2012 10:54 PM

Will Office Depot accept the coupon?

OD has it in store for 99, but as to my experience, OD will ofc accept it:D
So you will end up paying $10 more but less hassle.

inmyveganopinion 11-10-2012 09:51 AM

My staples wouldn't price match and take a coupon

Bring it to OD, pay $10 more, still good deal ;)

Hero76 11-10-2012 07:27 PM

waste of time, shot down at two stores in akron. first store i got c@@kblocked by the tech guy who whispered into the cashiers shoulder you should call a manager before entering the coupon after pricematch. second store said the $50 off is the same as bestbuys but were very nice about it, she even tried entering the code and it wouldnt take .

at the second store i did score a western digital 500 gb portable with usb 3.0 for $35.50, not too shabby. the drive isnt on the site anymore, my receipt shows 718037770765 as the item number if that helps anyone.

Tried at 2 staples , no go, went to OD, no go. They infact PM to bestbuy, but when saw th coupon, called the manager and he wanted to verify if staples has it in stock. I said ok. But then he came back again saying staples has the drive for $139.xx, so he would do the $50 off of $139.xx. I was like what ? , your store price is $99 and why would u jack that price to what staples has it for? I said, do't price match, but just use the coupon, but still no go.

shahi8 11-11-2012 07:39 AM

can someone post $50 off coupon as PDF here .. loggen into my staples rewards, but done see any coupons ...
