This is the cheapest Note II I have seen so far ...unfortunately I already purchased thru Best Buy Mobile deal for $247.

yarnim 11-10-2012 11:59 PM

this makes it so frigging hard. Im on verizon and they still dont got this phone out! even when they get it out, it will more than likely have locked boot loader and that stupid veri logo on home button and makes everything so darn hard for me to keep my unlimited data line.

im seriously debating a switch back to sprint even though they got no 4g whatsoever in my area, i will have wifi.

Oh and even after factoring in the 100 additional loyalty discount I have with verizon, this ends up way cheaper due to no tax.

Heck I can get this, and get 2 more advanced smartphones for parents(LG opt G, and Galaxy S3) and have change left over after cancelling the verizon S3 order I purchased on cowboom today.

now if only there was a way to waive the activation fee...

shateredsoul 11-11-2012 12:07 AM

If I renew through wirefly, will I lose my employee discount? and do I still loging through Sprint.com?

looks like i'd have to use their insurance instead of Sprint's.

Dunno, Great prices, but I don't know if I trust this company based on reviews I've found.

*edit*

when upgrading, there's an option to retain current data plan, but not for texting.... and there are not options for call time at all.

i have a question about this too..i know if i go to a local store they usually give me an option to get some discounts and waive activation fees such as opening up a credit union account or something...but i wonder if I can do that AFTER i purchase phones and plan via wirefly.

I couldn't wait and got mine in the corporate Sprint Store on launch day. I did call Sprint a week before at *2 and to complain about slow 3G speeds asked for loyalty bonus if I renewed with them. They offered a $100 and a $80 renewal bonus plus two months of $25 off for the slow 3G. Renewing your contract does not void your upgrade bonus.

I bought our phones from WireFly F&F two years ago. Shipping was super fast and there was no problem with billing. Sprint has announced that they are requiring "proof" of your employee discount no matter who you renew with. Many credit unions offer an employee discount to their members so that may be an option for you.

Two years ago I got charged Activation Fees by Sprint when buying phones through WireFly. I called Sprint and asked them to reverse the charges since I activated the phones myself on line and they waived the fees.

The local store said they would charge me an activation fee, so I made them earn it by transferring all my contacts from my old phone and giving me a tutorial on how to use this beast.

shateredsoul 11-11-2012 12:22 AM

thanks for the info.

so do you still get to use sprint.com? and it sounds like on your upgrade you returned to sprint instead of doing it through wirefly.. any problems with that?

and, does anyone know if I can keep insurance through sprint when signing up through a 3rd party? or will it auto cancel that feature?

Last month the Note2 was only available at corporate Sprint stores or at Sprint.com so WireFly was not an option two weeks ago, because I did not know how long I would have to wait for a sale. I don't know anything about the insurance.

When I bought from WireFly two years ago I just paid my monthly bill normally to Sprint at the Sprint website. I was told that Sprint pays WireFly a commission and that there was an extra Early Termination Fee in addition to Sprints if I cancelled in the first six months to make up for WireFlys lost commission payments from Sprint.

tehsu 11-11-2012 01:21 AM

Does wirefly still have that fee where if your late on a payment you get charged a penalty?

When you take advantage of Wirefly's discounted prices, you simply agree to keep your cell phone account in good standing for the length of your contract. When you do that, Wirefly gets paid.

How late do you want to pay your Sprint bill?

I freaked out when I was three months into a Wirefly phone and Sprint did not credit my online payment due on a Friday until Monday, but I never heard anything from Sprint or WireFly about it. I would make sure to pay the bill a few days before it is due just to be safe.

wraptor 11-11-2012 02:18 AM

I am only seeing it for $249 how are you getting $219?

Also if you are a BOA customer they have a $50 cashback via their ad it up program at wirefly right now.

That's completely random. Everybody doesn't get the same deals.

Also, Verizon also irritates me. By the time the Note 2 comes out from them, there would have been 20 other new phones released. The must hate Samsung.

What do you mean random? If you are a BOA customer you get the deal. No randomness to it.

dynastydealer 11-11-2012 04:26 AM

i see it on the additup site but if i click onto it, the price shows up as 250. i suppose if you factor in the 50 dollars back its a slightly better deal (200) instead of 219. But it is not 219-50, which would make this ultra hot

Wirefly savings aren't worth the potential headaches after reading all of the reviews (for me).

Furthermore, I noticed Amazon Wireless [amazon.com] finally added the Note II (sprint). I wish they would price match (I would much rather have their customer service over Wirefly)! It would be nice if they were in stock too- "Usually ships in 1 to 2 weeks"

Lastly, when I entered a family plan 2 years ago at my Sprint store, I asked if they could remove my activation fee. The store said I could if I called Sprint. I called and was told "No, your store doesn't have the authority to say that" even after multiple attempts. I'm surprised by how many people are successful at getting their's waived! Now, my local store has now told me it doesn't matter where you activate (online or in-store), you get to pay the activation fee. My only thought is to end your out-of-contract line and use the invalid employee discount coupon [delivery.net] for $50 (SAVE50).

flyingroach 11-11-2012 05:32 AM

Great phone and price but trapped on slow 3g for I bet a yr for most...no thanks.

Free yourself from sprint contract..crazy to pay $80 a month for unlimited data that is under 1mbps.

I am a former sero customer, and even was ok with wimax tax. I had good wimax speed and coverage for 2 yrs. It just isnt really worth the price.

Verizon is also getting under my skin lately, I was really looking forward to grabbing the Nexus 4, but of course no VZ. And now the Note 2 is two months late to market. But, as to your comment about 20 other new phones, it does look like VZ has the exclusive on the HTC DNA, which looks pretty sick. I'm going to wait for that one to come out before making a purchase decision on the note.

SlickLegacy 11-11-2012 06:14 AM

But you guys all know the SPRINT has very slow connection.

I tried in m local store and it was too SLOW !

thats their whole plan. they want to market everything named droid, no samsung.

verizon is seriously the worst corporation to ever exist imo. im gettin sick as hell with them. so much worse than regular US companies even worse than apple I dare say

Is there a way to check out without the plan? I choose upgrade my device but it won't let me proceed without the plan change in the cart.

milaub 11-11-2012 06:54 AM

It's not letting me check out... as soon as I submit the order it takes me to a page where I can re-enter my credit card information and says "We apologize for inconvenience: our system is temporarily unavailable. Err Code: 3"

Anyone else having this problem?

sautz1 11-11-2012 07:01 AM

Thanks! I've been waiting on a deal for this. I went with the BOA AddItUp to bring it to $200 after cash back, I'd have rather ordered it through Amazon if it had been less than retail, but I have done wirefly before and had no complaints.

DeeLnyc 11-11-2012 07:16 AM

The Upgrade Eligibility Pop up window is worthless. Typed in 3 different numbers on my account, all came inconclusive.

Seems like you can't buy this phone if you're just looking to renew your contract. You have to get it with a new line.

milaub 11-11-2012 07:33 AM

Just had no problem placing this order via their sales phone number - $219 for a renewal on Sprint! However, beware! They will try to upsell you different features and devices no less than a half-dozen times if you need to call to order. My call took a half hour, and most of it was spent listening to pitches.

phazein 11-11-2012 08:34 AM

Of course 2 days after my 14 day return Window is closed for my s3.

No SERO if that is what you are trying. The need to sell the phone with a contract, because that is how they get paid from Sprint.

Dave84311 11-11-2012 09:36 AM

$199.99 in no time through the Sprint site.

icedamage 11-11-2012 10:23 AM

Are they still asking for your ss# when your buying a phone for an upgrade? I'm not comfortable handing out that info when its absolutely not necessary/required for the upgrade. I would've been buying from them years ago if it wasn't for that.

You have to go to the Wirefly website from BOA's cashback login, don't you? Just like Discover's cashback.

Yea, but it's normally $250 at wirefly so you save more with BOFA I guess. I'm thinking there'll be some discount near black friday making regular price around this, so then I could take advantage of the cash back. My upgrade starts December 1st anyway.

shateredsoul 11-11-2012 11:46 AM

ordered one last night... I guess I'll give it a try. I'll update on my experience for future wirefly issues.

Some of the issues do seem to be user error though.... it seems pretty random that this one guys insurance was cancelled after a month. They want to charge you insurance. He probably got the trial, didn't renew, and then cried about it when he actually lost his phone.

My hopes are that I only have to deal with wirefly to get the phone or if I need to replace the phone. I might just cancel the insurance since I can keep my old HTC evo 4g as a backup.

*edit*

and some complains seem to be from plain 'ol impatient people.

I've been with Sprint around 10yrs, and maaan... even since iPhone came on Sprint.. the 3G is ridiculously super slow!!!11!!! ..
They promised Wimax but never came through...
They charge me $10 for 4G .. I NEVER GOT 4G anywhere in my area in SoCal.
Sprint is so stupid that their "TRULY UNLIMITED DATA" commercial is SOO MISLEADING!!!

It is IMPOSSIBLE get just 1gb with Sprint even though you have unlimited because the network is so stupidly slow. Next year I'm switching to Verizon..they have the best 4G, LTE, and 3G in SoCal.

Even in the Sprint physical stores..they have a dozen "AIRWAVEs" so all their demo phones can have reception and data through Airwave that connects thru Wifi.

If you buy NOTE II .. then get ready to be stuck 2 yrs on the SLOWEST network.
plus i dont think softbank can even help sprint's 3G.

/rant

edit: my average 3G with full bars is 0.11mb. YES! ... AOL dial up was faster

I would have to agree. Waiting to complete contract on 1 of our phones out of 4 on family plan. I actually have 4g in my area, but it is spotty and only works outside and if u are not moving. I've seen the 3g network degrade in my area from 1.5Mb to .08mb and the spotty 4g from 5Mb to .75mb. These are not atypical speeds and not due to network upgrades.(i have called tech support many times)

Not trying to steal the thunder of this awesome phone, but on sprint it would be less than stellar. I would seek another carrier or wait till upgrades are complete before buying

sautz1 11-12-2012 06:37 AM

Bummer. I ordered one Sunday morning and it said it should ship today, but I just checked and it is in "Awaiting Inventory" status. I hope they get some more in soon (or Amazon drops their price so I can cancel this and order from there)

A 3rd vote from me to run away from sprint contract. I had sero and even at that price I had to leave. I had Wimax test tower a few months after Evo launch and even then I was overpaying for 3g. At least back then the 3g was better or same as my verizon data card.

Other carriers suck and rob you for 'unlimited' that slows to useless at 2 or 5gb but sprint is so slow unless you stick with wimax phone. In NYC wimax is worse than yrs ago but still best for heavy users. Just dont sign a contract and suffer with a meh old phone.

sautz1 11-12-2012 08:51 AM

I would agree with everyone who says avoid Sprint if you can. I have been with them for 11 years and the data speeds are horrible.
However, I do get a discount for them through work and have 3 people on a family plan with unlimited data. The other major carriers rates for unlimited data are outrageous. I could probably pick a cap, but it would still be more than I'm paying with Sprint, so I'm going to stick with them and hope their LTE towers actually go up.

Mundosold 11-12-2012 09:05 AM

Its true, Sprint data is slow everywhere and has actually degraded over the past 2 years. They stopped upgrading their 3G network and oversold the hell out of it with all the MVNOS that share it (Boost, Cricket, Virgin Mobile). WiMax was a huge failure so they are in a rush to provide LTE, at the expense of letting their 3G network decay further and continue be more and more overloaded/oversold.

Unlimited Data is worthless when you get dialup speeds (in fact I'd even take consistant dialup over the crappy Sprint 3G). Even their 4G Wimax (which no new devices support) is SLOWER than every other carrier's 3G! Roaming on Verizon's 2G network is faster than Sprint sometimes, its pathetic.

Question for the both of you.

I am in bay area, where LTE are sometimes avaiable ([recently (~1 week or so] my wifes iphone 5 is more on LTE than 3G)

I will upgarde to a new device soon. Currently with a HTC TP2.

I am considering betweeen a SG3 (LTE) and a wimax device (maybe HTC evo 3d).

If the cost were :

A) a wimax device = $80

B) a SG3 = $400

which would be better?

(btw..i know of all the BF promotions on SG3)

zenmechanic 11-12-2012 11:02 AM

I stopped by our local Best Buy to see if they would pricematch the wirefly deal. I was given the OK, but didn't end up pulling the trigger because all they had was the white model.

I am considering betweeen a SG3 (LTE) and a wimax device (maybe HTC evo 3d).

If the cost were :

A) a wimax device = $80

B) a SG3 = $400

which would be better?

(btw..i know of all the BF promotions on SG3)

I wish I had a good answer for you. I live in the triangle area of NC and have had the Evo 3D for a year and a half now. We have had wimax for that entire time, but I rarely have the 4G antenna on. Why? Because wimax coverage here is incredibly spotty. I could be sitting in a chair and have wimax work for 10 min, then go away for 10 minutes, then go on and off repeatedly for 2 mins at a time. Each time it switches, there is a brief few seconds the phone doesn't have a data network and I have to reload whatever I was doing.

That being said, when my wimax signal is working it feels much faster. It's probably only a little faster than Verizon's and AT&T's 3G here, though. I should also say I've been happy with the Evo 3D. It is a very responsive and well-built phone.

I've heard conflicting reports on what is going to happen to Wimax. Some sources say ones an area gets LTE that Sprint will discontinue Wimax in that area. I've also seen that Sprint plans to support Wimax through 2015, which would surely cover the life of your phone. You'll probably want to talk to Sprint to confirm what they plan to do.

Personally, LTE hasn't been announced for my area yet, but we are hoping 1st or 2nd Q 2013. I bought my gf a SG3 a few months ago and she loves it (even suffering through 3G). I just bought a Note 2. From what I understand, once LTE does come up it will basically have the same coverage as 3G does and won't be as spotty as wimax was. I'll have to wait and see. Until then I plan on spending as much time in wifi areas as I can when using data.

This could be a good option for us on the wirefly waitlist. I don't suppose you know if Best Buy charges taxes on the $220, $300, or what? It didn't appear to me that wirefly charged taxes, which helps.

Mundosold 11-12-2012 11:50 AM

Sad thing is even Sprint's stated goals for LTE are pathetic too. Their goal is 6-8Mbps with a 25mbps peak, and 2-3mbps upload. And you just know they will overload it, considering they claim their 3g is 600kbps-1.4mbps and 3.1mbps peak, but realistic speeds are 100-150kbps

This would be an awesome, front-page deal if only it weren't Sprint.

Keep in mind this image is about 6 months old, their service has continued to degrade.

Here in Oklahoma it would be taxed at the $220 price. I may just break down and get the white model after work today. If I'm going to eventually buy a case for it, I probably wouldn't even see the white part of the phone anyway.

Sturmie 11-12-2012 12:06 PM

Is there a wait list now? I can still add it to my cart.

EDIT: Just placed my order...we'll see what happens...no tax for me makes this a hot $100 off Sprint's price.

I ordered mine yesterday morning and it went through and said it should ship today. However, I checked my order status and it is in "Awaiting Inventory" state. I don't know how long they will be awaiting inventory.

Gotcha...I called the CSR and they said they have them in stock, so I guess we'll have to wait and see. I currently have the Galaxy S II, so I can wait a bit if I have to :).

Great! I saw your post and online chatted with them and they expect to have some in stock tomorrow for shipment within 24 hours of receiving them. I ordered the grey one, so maybe that is the difference?

I ordered the grey as well. It sounds like we should have them in hand by the weekend...woohoo!

Thanks, op...for the heads up on the price.

shateredsoul 11-12-2012 01:30 PM

same here, awaiting inventory. I bought on Saturday and paid for 2 business day delivery.

gambitlebo 11-12-2012 01:55 PM

Torn between getting this now or just wait for Sprint to drop the price?

I'm guess I'm lucky. I live just north of D/FW airport and my 4g speeds are pretty good. I get 2/3 bars 4g sitting on my couch. I've ran speed test that give me anywhere from 2-6.

I've seen Google+ posting of LTE speeds around 25/30. Sprint is the cheapest of the big 4 around Dallas. If I traveled much, I probably would go back to AT&T because Sprints national map does look horrible.

girlsfavtoy 11-12-2012 02:42 PM

Hopefully this deal is around BF, just waiting to see if T-mobile drops their price to at least 250.

I went to my BB and was told "can't match friends and family. If you had a friend or family, then you could buy it from the site".

I was told this after waiting 30 minutes for a lady to figure out you have to charge your phone and how to answer a call on it. Best Buy Mobile = :vomit:

At least $250? ...If you got a classic plan then call tmobile loyalty dept at 611 then say loyalty at the prompt. I paid $169 plus not activation fee. It's $250 down plus $20/month right now at tmobile with a value plan.

I'm on verizon right now, and planning moving to another carrier. Everyone wants the Note II and sprint is cheatest right now, but wouldn't mind going T-mobile for a few dollars extra.

RHCCapri 11-13-2012 11:16 AM

More phones in stock today.

Speeds vary based on location as with all carriers, but Sprint LTE holds its own https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XdSvAvNl9b0

zenmechanic 11-13-2012 11:36 AM

Ended up picking up a white one at best buy on my lunch w/ the price match. Freaking awesome phone.

drexappeal 11-13-2012 11:56 AM

I have to thank the OP. Already rep'd. I had gotten a price match, at Best Buy, on Sunday with the Radio Shack/Walmart/Circuit City $249 price, but got an additional price match yesterday with this deal! This was a VERY Slick deal.

girlsfavtoy 11-13-2012 12:55 PM

Decided to jump on it. Moving family from Verizon (one grandfathered line) to Sprint. No tax is a plus.

Can return if better deal comes along in the next week or two.

Though have to wait for inventory :(

Sturmie 11-13-2012 08:25 PM

My order was still "awaiting inventory", so I called and the CSR told me that they didn't know when they'd be getting more in...told me to check back in 4-5 days. I canceled mine...I can't deal with a company who takes order knowing they don't have any stock and refuse to tell the customer at checkout or let them know via a follow-up.

I'm going to give it until the end of the day then cancel mine. For a brief time last night my status was expected shipping date of 11/14, but this morning its back to awaiting inventory. I guess I can pay the taxes to pricematch from Best Buy.

EDIT: Aaaaaaaand of course as soon as I posted that I got an email that my phone has shipped and should arrive tomorrow.

Really? Maybe I need to call them back :).

thestephenh 11-14-2012 08:11 AM

sprint is seriously the worst carrier ever. Awful AWFUL service.

They took down a tower near my house leaving my entire neighborhood without service COMPLETELY, and when I called to complain they told me there was nothing they can do. I asked to get out of my contract and they told me to go suck an egg. I disputed it all the way until the point they sent my account to collections and ruined my credit. WHY WOULD I PAY FOR A CELL PHONE THAT HAS NO SERVICE?

Did you get a UPS/FedEx tracking number? The CSR via chat told me they didn't get any in stock and still don't know when they will.

Greaaaaaaaaaaaat... reading the email more carefully I don't have a tracking number and it's "ready to ship". The web site itself says status shipping today to arrive tomorrow. We'll see.

Well, I just got an email back from WhereIsMyOrder.com (Wirefly customer service...I emailed them two days ago) and they said " According to the updates, we are expecting the Samsung Galaxy Note II is in stock by the end of the day"...so all hope is not lost for you. Take it for what it's worth...if they have them in hand tomorrow, I'll re-order...if not, I'll probably head to Best Buy and eat the tax on a price match.

girlsfavtoy 11-14-2012 10:36 AM

Mine shipped today via 2nd day air. Get it by friday.

iibbmm 11-14-2012 10:36 AM

My order, placed Monday night, is slated for shipping today, though like everyone else it remains to be seen if it will happen. I tried to pricematch to best buy last night and they would only match $249. I'm not in a huge hurry, so I'll just wait for wirefly.

sautz1 11-14-2012 10:41 AM

To follow up, I just received my tracking number. Since it's shipping from the next state up I should get it tomorrow.
Good luck everyone.

Sturmie 11-14-2012 12:01 PM

Man, now I don't know what to do. The CSRs on the phone are clueless and the ones that answer email are slow as can be :(. If it's in stock, I want it...or I want a date when it will be in stock. This is not a great 1st experience for me from Wirefly.

I would have to agree too about Sprint, that's why I transferred my wife to AT&T and get the Note II because oh Sprint's horrible speed. I'm still in contract with Sprint but I'm out too even though I have to pay an ETF of $300, still deciding between Note II, S3, or the Lumia 920. I'll just sell my iPhone 4S and the wife's Evo 4G on Craigslist, I can probably get at least $300 for these two phones.

How is the Note II for those that received it?

iibbmm 11-14-2012 01:21 PM

I received a notice that they needed more info from me, so I called up and answered 4 verification questions about my identity.

Two hours later, I check the status online and they are requesting me to verify my ss#, so I did. Now my status is pending verificaiton..

So much for probably shipping today.

Yes, you have to keep the phone on that line for 3 months, or 6 months sorry I can't remember. The sales commission they earn from Sprint is tied to you making on time monthly payments for the line the device was activated on. After the 3-6 months you can sell the phone, swap lines or whatever. That is why it is a good idea to carry insurance on your new phone for 3-6 months.

blankempathy 11-14-2012 04:51 PM

While looking for other deals for the Samsung Galaxy note ii I saw that walmart's wireless site has it at 229.99 with a 2 year contract for sprint.
http://wireless.walmart.com/eComm...44e75366e9
I was able to get best buy to price match it as well in store. Sadly I had to pay tax on the original price of the note unlocked (almost 70 bucks) so it came out to a little under 300 dollars. Walmarts online store showed only 20 dollars in tax I think.

They are selling the Note 2 for the list price of $299.99. If you are an existing Sprint customer who's contract is up for renewal, you can dial *2 from your phone and ask if there are any discounts. I got a $100 discount, an $80 discount at once and two $25 monthly credits for complaining about the slow 3G speeds in my area. That brought the price of the phone for me on launch day down to $70 out the door.

Print out the WireFly price and see if BestBuy, Radio Shack, or your local Sprint store will match it.

mannymann 11-15-2012 03:15 PM

Got my phone today, loving it so far.

if anyone finds a case for this please let me know, I went to Sprint and Radioshack and they both didn't have them.. I want something good and I don't like Amazon's choices.

MoBounce 11-15-2012 05:10 PM

Looks like the price jumped up $30 bucks! Now it's showing $279.99

Sturmie 11-16-2012 04:57 AM

Since they were back in stock at Wirefly, I reinstated my order...FedEx says I should have it tomorrow :).

Thanks, Op!

Btw, I'm pretty sure they do that "handsfree activation" and I think they already effed with my account since I can't get 3G/4G anymore on my current phone - says "invalid username/password". I've seen this before and would call Sprint if I wanted it fixed, but I have a feeling when my Note II arrives tomorrow and I power it on, everything will be OK...I'm on wifi most of the day anyway, so I'm not worried about not having data for the next day or so.

Just had Amazon match (they will only do it one time within 14 days) Walmart's price (minus shipping). Therefore, my amazon price was 300-62 = $238 (no tax)!

Got my Note on Saturday morning...wow...that's about all I can say...it's really an amazing phone. I will say that it's not for everyone and I would check it out in person before purchasing. I have average size hands and I'm able to use it pretty well...including Swype for texting/email. It's gets a lilttle difficult to hit keys on the far left (I'm right handed), but you adjust pretty quickly.

The one thing you need to get used to is the teasing :). My neighbor was using it to take some video Saturday night and his wife said to me jokingly "Why does my husband have your iPad Mini?"...thought that was a good one.

In settings there is an option for one-handed use for either left or right handed people.

Yeah, but that's for the built-in apps like the calculator and phone...the Swype beta (which is what I use) doesn't have that option.

Has anyone had luck calling sprint directly and requesting a lower price on this than their $299 quote? I'd like to get it but with everyone else offering discounts, I can't see it being a good idea to pay outright.

Just clicked "blankempathy" link to Walmart ...... http://wireless.walmart.com/eComm...44e75366e9 ....and it shows a price of $299.99 for me (48197), but also includes a $100 Walmart gift card. Best deal yet. So actually paying $199.99 for the phone, and purchasing a $100 dollar Walmart gift card...sweet.....
