Google Nexus 7 32gb $229.99

Ebay Daily Deals is offering the Google Nexus 7 32gb for 229.99 with free shipping

Ebay [ebay.com]

ThaiGrocer 11-11-2012 08:32 AM

Looking forward to the following months when the 32GB version goes under $200. $230 seems to be popping up fairly often now.

charms 11-11-2012 08:32 AM

Debating buying it now or waiting for black friday. I live in NJ so there's always tax. I might wait since Office Depot will have it at 229 also on black friday.

Gamer007 11-11-2012 08:33 AM

Free Shipping + No Tax in NY. I'm in. Thanks op

contraium 11-11-2012 08:36 AM

Tempting! Do this or hold out for BF/CM? Ummm.... Was planning on getting 16gb...

The only deal i am aware was a radoshack deal for $229 after coupon, many getting cancellation emails.

radiojunkie 11-11-2012 08:39 AM

I guess I bought the second one!! Thanks OP

that dream might come true. Just received my 32gb nexus 7 from J&R $244 - 5% discover. However, the tab feels a bit small as I really like ipad mini's 8" size except apple sucks on its spec., yet 7" makes it fit to pocket next to my nexus phone, together that is my choice to Note II 5.5". With foxfi on the nexus phone, the nexus 7 works like a charm if not the phone getting hot too quick.

But nexus 7 doesn't have a back camera, this is unexpected. such a nice slim tab I can't use it to take pictures, can you believe it?

Did google recently update the Nexus 7 or did they just reduce the price? I'm trying to understand if there are 2 generations out there...

pokymon 11-11-2012 08:52 AM

It's socially unacceptable to use a tablet to take pictures.

thebtran 11-11-2012 08:58 AM

this is a good deal for those in the tablet business

yarnim 11-11-2012 08:59 AM

my note 2 (to be had) will be just all that.

no longer need the in between cell phone and giant 10 inch tabs.

trip1eX 11-11-2012 09:00 AM

Yup. Can confirm, I have both. This guy just seems a whole lot more powerful in general all together. Then again, if you prefer WebOS to Android, then the Touchpad would be better.

kingnothing724 11-11-2012 09:06 AM

This should be a FP deal, the 16gb is 199 but after tax and 2 day shipping its 225. For 5 bux more I've double my storage.

AndroAsc 11-11-2012 09:07 AM

Do these ebay details have manufacturer warranty? Will ASUS honor them?

henucu 11-11-2012 09:08 AM

paid 225 for 8gb version that i bought 6 weeks ago. talk about depreciation. the 8gb model is already discontinued.

Free shipping and no tax? In for 1. In GA the 16gb would be around $216 after tax if I went to staples, I'll take twice the space for less than $15. Thanks!

ASUS/Google whatever... the point is that ASUS/Google can always say you bought it from eBay (not authorized reseller) and deny warranty claims.

SoCalTiger68 11-11-2012 09:19 AM

Doesn't matter that it's on eBay as buydig is an authorized seller. It'll ship from them, you'll get a receipt from them.

How do you guys figure that an eBay seller is an authorized reseller? Does Google/ASUS maintain a list somewhere? Anyone on eBay could claim to be an authorized reseller

EDIT: Ok, I guess ASUS has a list and Buydig is on it...

I received a faulty Nexus 7 when I got it shipped from BrandsMart USA.com. AOn contacting Google, they refused to help me saying that Google is only the software provider and are not liable for manufacturing defects. They asked me contact Asus, which again many off you may know, is a big pain.

I ended up return the Nexus 7 back to BrandsMarts.

Bottomline is, GOOGLE WON'T HELP...

This is a great deal considering tax here is 10% plus shipping on top of that...its like 60 bucks off for me...if I had some eBay bucks, I might go for this, but I really want the Galaxy 10. Decisions, decisions.

ZeeLobby 11-11-2012 09:59 AM

So I'm thinking of getting one. I loved my 16 GB one I bought on launch, ended up giving it to my bro, because he loved it. I was close to buying another, but then heard that Samsung might be making a 7" Galaxy Note tablet.

I am already planning on getting a Windows 8 convertible at some point, but wouldn't mind an Android device for content watching/reading/browsing.

Think I should wait for the Note 7" or get this?

Ducman69 11-11-2012 10:00 AM

Before you buy this, check out the Microsoft Surface.

Although they don't compete directly, if you buy a Surface you will have no use for this.

If your looking at a Microsoft Surface, I'd suggest waiting for the Microsoft Surface Pro, the Surface RT is just a toy, like the iPad and Nexus. Having Office is the equivalent to having Google Docs on a tablet, and supposedly they are having issues with their touch covers which cost more than half of this price...

There is a 10% of $75 or more item (up to $100 off) target coupon floating around. If you have it, it's in your e-mail or under the "My eBay" drop down menu.

Except that the $40 in coupons come in $10 increments and cannot be combined. Radio Shack's stuff is typically vastly overpriced, and their stuff around $10 is even more so. Effective worth of those coupons is closer to $15-20. The deals are pretty much comparable when you factor in tax, cashback considerations, etc.

Thanks for the heads up. After doing a little research on the Note 7, I think I'll wait for an announcement before deciding between the two. If it's priced right, I'm in. I don't expect it to be as cheap as the Nexus, but if it's more than the iPad mini I think I'll pass.

Thanks... Hope I am wrong but to me it seems that the change from 16GB / 32GB for the same price as before for the 8GB / 16GB was probably everything that Google is doing for this shopping season...

Well the Windows 8 Surface RT is selling for aobut $550 + right now... I doubt a Windows 8 Pro Surface would sell for less or anything close to a Ipad Mini... And the Nexus 7 is the better choice over the Ipad Mini any day of the week..

plastik3000 11-11-2012 10:37 AM

Ryan456789 11-11-2012 10:44 AM

Where will this be $200 on BF?

Google would never make a $99 version, they would be killing off their profits too early. Maybe in a year or two we will see a high end tablet available under $100 but this seems like a good deal considering the 32GB just came out ?

I was talking about the Galaxy Note 7 inch which sounds like it is in the works, not a Windows Pro tablet. And I agree about the Nexus 7 being superior to the iPad. Just saying that if the Note 7 was more than the iPad mini, I'd probably end up with the Nexus 7.

Ahh.. Sorry misread u'r post... I would think the GN7 would come with a stylist.. But I would of also think they would price it around $400+... Haven't seen much info on a GN7 though...

Erechtheus 11-11-2012 10:49 AM

I have been hesitating about what 7-8" tab to replace my Nook Color with, and this thread helped me decide. In for one. I love Jellybean (CM10) on the NC but the response time is lacking. The limited benchmarks I have seen for the NC versus the Nexus 7 suggest to me the N7 is 3-4 times more powerful than the NC. This will be an exciting Christmas gift for myself.

Yea not too much out there at the moment. It's passed through DLNA certification and is in testing. Hasn't made it through FCC yet, so it's not imminent. Givent that the Note seems to be their premium tablet line, I agree it could very well be closer to $400.

http://www.tomshardware.com/news/...18853.html

semifast 11-11-2012 10:54 AM

Doesn't seem like much of a deal..

Firstly because 16gb of extra storage isn't worth $50 retail price difference between the 16gb and 32gb versions.

So a good deal on a Nexus 7 almost needs to start from the $199 price of the 16gb and go down from there.

Of course some people think a Slick Deal is anytime something is fractionally cheaper than the other alternsatives, at that moment, but $20 off an item that's overpriced to begin with is kind of marginal to me.

Erechtheus 11-11-2012 10:57 AM

The roughly $25 difference I'm going to end up with between the 16 and this 32 is well worth it to me. I don't think double storage needs to be free, but I do think $50 or $100 is ridiculous. $25 is relatively reasonable given that double storage probably costs them maybe $4 or 5 in chips.

That annoys the heck out of me. an Ipad generation 1 gives you a better experience than this, why bother. Now, if they fix the stuttering issue and if graphics were smooth and they had an SD card and a camera on the rear I would be championining this and complaining about the Ipad (which doesnt have an SD card slot so they can maximize profit. Those familiar with economics will understand what I mean by tapping onto the consumer surplus this way). For now, just get the Ipad gen 1, 2 or 3 depending on your budget over this stutterpad

Dont believe them if they tell you they fixed the stuttering. its a lie. Check it out yourself, you will be disappointed at the stutter.

If you like to view column after column of icons and enjoy scrolling through those just go into the list of apps on nexus 7 tablet. And when you get tired of looking at those go back to the home screen and look at a much better optimized tablet screen. And to the stutter issue, Im not sure which tablet you are using but my tegra 2 tablet on jelly bean gives me a stutter free performance and nexus 7 is so much better than that. Im pretty sure you never really used an android tablet and just came in here to troll.

It definitely is if you plan to make full use of the HD screen by sideloading high quality 720p HD videos onto it. Those HD videos eat GB's.

If u have a 10% to use on eBay then it's a great deal.. Ad's -$20 ... Also for us that live in Tax states outside NJ... Then it's an extra what ever % of tax we have to paid if we would go with any seller that have any locations in u'r state... But yeah.. I'll wait for a no Tax $199 deal too..

Considering if at all a B&M store gives it for ~$210, which living in California would amount to something similar to this deal, I would say this seems like a good deal.

Thanks OP. Bought one !!

First, itunes is malware. Second, and possibly more important, most people looking at this have probably already chosen an ecosystem. Third, given the thread that ecosystem is probably android. I am happy that the apple experience works for you but this is an android thread.

This will be $229 at Office Depot on Black Friday. Same deal as this except this one is better because tax isn't charged in NY.

Same with me. It will definitely be less. If you're giving this to someone for Christmas or Hanukkah you should hold out as long as possible.

ZeeLobby 11-11-2012 11:24 AM

The Nexus 7 is already an amazing deal at its current prices. Anyone who thinks they will drop below $200 before Christmas is deluded. Thinking they will drop by Black Friday is laughable. Every year people assume that there will be a lot tablet sales during the holidays. What people seem to forget is that tablets are already very cheap compared to an alternative PC or laptop. Tablets will be high in demand these holidays, just like last, and the only deals available will be on devices which will soon be replaced by next gen devices (galaxy tab 2, nook e-readers, transformer 300s, etc.)

I do hope this is a joke. That was a fire sale, HP and it's resellers were trying to unload stock that would become dead weight once consumers learned that it ran an OS that would practically remain unsupported. Even then most people have said that it was a dumb idea to sell them so cheaply.

The Nexus 7,on the other hand, has a widely used ecosystem, is backed by one of the most successful companies, made by one of the few positive profit making manufacturers and will be in high demand this holiday season whether it's priced at 200/250 for 32GB. There is no reason to drop prices lower. I'd say this is probably the best we'll see until next year's Google dev conference for a 7" nexus device, and now people think they are just going to start giving them away...

To be fair the chances of something like that happening again are slim to none. That was a very special case of HP getting out of the webOS tablet business and dumping their inventory at a serious loss.

I'm in the same spot as others here. Looking for a Nexus 7 as an xmas gift, and am not sure if I should bite on this or wait until black friday. The FS + No tax makes this a pretty good deal, but I wonder if we won't have some sales on BF that would make me regret picking this up just 2 weeks prior.

drachen9d8 11-11-2012 11:48 AM

This is an insane deal especially with the ebay bucks.

I bought the 16gb when it was 230 from jr during the preorders and I have easily gotten my money's worth from just five months of ownership. The hardware and performance on this tablet is worth more than what they are charging.

You will never run out of things to do with this device. I mean it. I have everything on this tablet from textbooks, journal subscriptions, microsoft word, anki flashcards, lecture videos, speed reading programs, and even the ti86 . I am a medical student and I have emptied out my white coat. All I carry is the N7 and a stethoscope, and this gets alot more use.

the nerds of slickdeals will be happy to know that the N7 can dual boot ubuntu and even backtrack5.

Exactly. All the fire sale did was lose HP money. Asus still sold many higher end higher priced tablets after the TouchPad successfully. Likewise, Apple didn't even feel it. Really the Kindle Fire pushed tablet prices lower, and Google was able to follow suit because of rhe services and Play Store they are starting to really support.

Just a heads up. Most of the black Friday deals have already been announced and they are either equal to or worse than this for the N7 and to some degree, tablets in general, the same as last year, the same as next year. BF is only beneficial for those looking for cheap TVs or last year's tech. The N7 is not last year's tech.

Exactly. Please stop watching Fox. Many states have had an upturn in jobs the past year, and studies have found that the percentage of people choosing to leave their jobs because of personal choice has actually increased as well.

I make a decent income but am all bang for buck. Right now N7 is easily the best bang for buck, and Nexus 4 is the best off contract phone, the Nexus 10 I'm still a little iffy about, as you can do most things you could do on a 7" device as a 10" device.

Not at all, and obviously I realize many people make a good salary. I myself have a very nice job and a good salary. At the same time, regardless of how much money I make, I think getting a 3 year old a $200 tablet is absurd, especially when there are much cheaper options that can run android with kids oriented apps. That's my opinion on the matter, and of course everyone is entitled to their own (differing) opinion.

Benchmarks suggest this is maybe twice as fast as TP. I see little reason to do it as an upgrade, but if you want a more portable tablet this is the one to get IMHO. This replaces my Nook Color, but I'll still be rocking a TP for my 10" needs (as though a tablet ever serves actual needs -- we are the most spoiled people ever).

ETA: I also have my tracking number now. I am hoping it comes in on Wednesday, but it will more likely get delivered Thursday or Friday to my office while I'm away. Good thing I trust my coworkers.

Depends what you really want. If you want a 7", I don't think much will be beating the N7 for the next year. That said, next fall we might see some smaller Windows RT tablets, and maybe some more Kindles. Personally, the Nexus 7 is an amazing device.

Now, if you want 10", its a lot harder. It really depends what ecosystem you want, Android, I'd go with the Nexus 10, MS, I'd go with the Surface, Apple, I'd go with the latest, because thats the only way you get everything (stupid Apple).

But you have to deal with the fact that it's not very customizable unless you root it, and you don't get nearly as many apps from the Amazon App store. I gave up my old Kindle Fire for those reasons.

That said, Best Buy USA needs to get on the Nexus bus. I saw the Canada store was shipping them. I have a $70 gift card I totally want to burn on a Nexus 7!

Erechtheus 11-11-2012 12:35 PM

Oh, I agree. On a tablet for me, there is no way the Kindle Fire makes sense. I am actively contemplating shelling out $199 for the Fire HD for my daughter, though. She loves Netflix and can access it on our TiVo, my iPod Touch, my iPhone, my Touchpad, and her 3DS. She needs another way to do it obviously.

Have I mentioned we're spoiled?

Adding android to your touchpad is risky. I don't recommend that you do this! but if you are like me and willing to risk bricking your device for more functionality then read on.

If you have put cyanogenmod 9 (android) on your touchpad then all you need is adobe flash (instructions below):

If you don't have android on your touchpad then you need to follow these instructions first:

Oh, I'm a pro at putting CM9 on the Touchpad. I'm supporting 10 of them at this point. We have been fortunate enough to only have one with any hint of the battery problem, and in that case the Touchstone was helpful in getting it back. I didn't realize that I could get Prime Instant Videos via browser if I added Flash. I will definitely be playing with that. Thanks!

That said, Best Buy USA needs to get on the Nexus bus. I saw the Canada store was shipping them. I have a $70 gift card I totally want to burn on a Nexus 7!

The thing is, its not that hard to get Google apps and the Play Store on the Kindle Fire HD.

Its impossible to add hdmi, better speakers, and a better screen, to the Nexus 7.

Having said that, I still like the Nexus 7 better as an all-round gadget.

This WILL NOT be had for much cheaper anytime soon! I guarantee it! They are already offering you waaay more for your money than any other tablet out (in it's class)... I had the 16gb and sold it and did not lose any money so I just got the 32gb version cause that is the "sweet spot" for internal memory as far as I am concerned... If you wanna have more than just hook up a flash drive but with 32gb at least you can fill your tab with every app you wanna use and not have to skimp. As far as it being slow or studdering than I guess that person hasn't read the thousands of EXCELLENT reviews for this product and continued Google support.... You can't go wrong! It is not slow in the slightest! LOL Great Deal and thanks OP!! Anybody waiting on the HSPA+ version apparently does not know how to tether or just wants to pay more for a device that has a sim card slot...

Thanks OP. This deal got me off the fence!

Was going to get a 16 local, the 32 ended up costing me only 12 bux more.

Love my 32 Gig Touchpad package that I got from QVC. CM9 is excellent!

Now I got this deal. Sweet!

Ordered one this morning (Sunday). Received the confirmation from both Ebay and Buy Dig. Also received the FEDEX tracking number. Should get it Friday. Thanks OP!!!

Pele like just never get it. Tablet taking picture is so popular has a very good reason. How long does it take to understand photograph is not about how cool is it what you hold in hand, instead its about how convenient to shoot and view. the large screen has a huge advantage when view the picture instantly.

true, but wait when android 4.2 become generally available, and 5.0,6.0.

S3 was from a regular seller at a unbelievable price. This is normal sale price from a real store.

U r telling me it's easier to use and shoot with an ipad than a regular camera? LOL. Let's also pretend it's easier to drive an 18 wheelers than a sport car.

Looking forward to the following months when the 32GB version goes under $200. $230 seems to be popping up fairly often now.

Purchased the 32 gb at office depot. They matched the 229 radio shack price plus the 10.00 off each 50 spent. I ended up at 179.00. Havent seen anyone else mention that price match. I did pay tax on that though.

$10 of $50. How did you do that? thought OD does not have coupon for tech.

I just had the radio shack ad. I didnt know if they would honor it. I was just asking for the ten dollar difference. They told me they would do the total plus the price match percentage that store offers. All i wanted was the 229 match of radio shack but the manager told me they would honor the entire amount. Sometimes if youre just nice they will help you. I dont understand people making nasty comments and not believing it. I was just trying to help. I do have a receipt with the amount on it. Hard to argue with that. Another store in my area also price matched radio shack but only 50, no extra for price match, so the 32 ended up at 199.

Just saw someone else post they got the price match plus the ten percent lowest price. I am not the only one that got that price.

Tried 3 OD's, 1 Staples and 1 OM. No go.

I think I've been snookered. I took delivery today, and I love the device. I just now got around to goofing off in the settings, and I'm seeing total storage space of 13.36GB. Now I don't know if this is something screwy with 4.2 because I have upgraded to it already. I have this sinking feeling the answer is no and that they're pawning off 16GB models on us. Did anybody else get theirs via this deal to verify? I didn't notice anything on the box, and I left the box at work.

jamessicat25 11-15-2012 03:06 PM

^ I was gonna post something about that, but you already beat me to it. Looks like its showing that I have a 16GB as well.

Erechtheus 11-15-2012 06:50 PM

So is it just the two of us? What should we do?

You guys should probably request that the seller give you a return with prepaid shipping or a partial refund of $80 - $100 ($50 for the difference in the two models and another $30+ cuz you really wanted to load a bunch of movies on them and now you don't have space)

That would really give oyu a slick deal on the 16gb nexus 7

Erechtheus 11-17-2012 07:55 AM

My early results at correcting the issue have not been fruitful. I have gone through two emails and one call with no real response. The call terminated with a voicemail left for a manager after the CSR's proposed solution was send them the tablet back and they swear they'll send the right one upon receipt. That's not acceptable when it's their error. Honestly, I have the thing set up the way I want and think it is excellent. I'd prefer they credit me $50 and we call it even.
