Deal is now live.

Nice price. I wish this thing had back-lighting though.
|
Whats a good internal TV tuner to use this with?

I just ordered mine to work with HDhomerun Prime, but would work with haugepage, ATI, Ceton, etc. I hate that it is IR making the remote Line of Sight but this price is so low that I can't really complain too too much about that. |

edit: That MSI tuner is PCI only. Just bought this motherboard with no PCI ports (PCI-E only) as it is obsolete. Silly me I guess. |

oh crap! just bought one last night for $19 at newegg, now it is on sale...can newegg do price adjustments?

If you are attracted to this deal for XMBC compatibility, I would suggest going with the Logitech Harmony series, even the cheapest one (<$20, the one I use) works wonders. The advantage is that you can control your original TV and XMBC (and whatever other device you have) using a single easy to configure remote. In other words, you can turn on XBMC, turn on your TV, change input to XMBC, adjust volume, and power off either devices all on one remote!
You CANNOT control your original TV with this remote control. In order to have my setup, you would need to purchase 1) Logitech Harmony 2) ANY usb remote reciever (the one from HP is unofficially endorsed by the XMBC community). Even the receiver that comes from this particular deal SHOULD work. 3 XMBC running on Windows 7. |

here's hoping it works well.. thanks OP
EDIT: wait, can i control my htpc normally with this? meaning, is it possible to move the mouse(with the up,down, left, right) and maybe use this with other media players like vlc/mpc ? |

$10 and it replaces 3 remotes. Of course does not come with an IR receiver like this deal does but if you buy this remote from newegg AND this $10 harmony 200 you'd get 1 remote that replaces 3 + the IR receiver for $24. Not bad. Apparently the Harmony 600 (new in box) is going to be $30 on bf at radioshack however if you want a better remote than the 200. |
This or this one for 1$ more

As for the receiver, any infra red USB receiver would work. I just ebayed "USB remote control receiver hp" and bought he cheapest one. |

+1, can it move the mouse pointer with its directional pad? |
For those of you who use MCE do you guys ever get stuck at a screen and can't go back with any button on the remote? The exit button doesn't go back to the previous screen and I end up having to get out my wireless keyboard and move the cursor to the back button on the top left of the screen. It's hard also because the cursor is invisibe and you have to keep moving it until you see the back button kind of change color.
Is there a special button on the remote that goes back from this screen? |

my Sony Tablet S 32gb purchased through the woot deal earlier this summer for ~285 after taxes is the most overpriced universal remote money can buy. and I love it! ;)

Does anyone happen to know if the Harmony software has the remote codes for XBOX 360 media center remote (preferably the old version that actually had the green button on it.)

I think it's Start on the Logitech. I have been using a Logi 720 and I programmed one of my buttons on the lcd screen to be start. It used to start up my XBOX 360 and my HTPC. I had to go into the XBOX to manually not respond to IR and only from the Controller. I bought two of these units. The seem better than my HP IR receiver. I hid my micro HTPC behind the TV and the remote still works with both my Logitech and the Rosewill one. Great buy! |

Just tested out the Harmony 200 that was linked for $10. It is a great little remote with a web programming of the remote and it's buttons. I got this for my parents and am setting it up before I am getting it to them. I am trying it out with my tv. So it looks like you will be able to do what you are asking with the XBOX 360. You will enter your devices first, eg TV, Xbox. Each of these devices is given an assignament to the three buttons at the top of the remote. TV, CABLE, AND DVD. The software placed my HTPC(XBOX) under the DVD button settings. Then you will program the buttons. The interface shows a picture of your button and you click on the button you want to change. In you case it would be the volume button. When you hover over the Volume button on there is a pop up asking would you like to setup what controls the volume. In my case I changed the setting from HTPC to my TV. Now when I am in HTPC(XBOX) mode and I change the volume it doesn't do it th HTPC but the volume on the TV. Also there is a button (WATCH TV) that can do a simple task. I programmed it to turn on the TV, switch to HDMI1, and turn on HTPC(XBOX). Another great feature is it has a Learning feature from another remote which is great! Hope this helps out! |
In for 1. This is about the price that IR receivers themselves go for, so I'll take the remote with it :)
