After dealing with their RMA dept and other managers at the company I highly recommend passing. Their own firmware update they insisted on you installed bricked the drive and they tried to not honor their warranty and talked down to me like a criminal. It took me 5-6 months to get a replacement and a note was included that they would never honor the warranty again for the purchase.

compusascam 11-13-2012 05:31 PM

i think this is the one i saw

So sorry to hear about your painful experience with Zalman. I have had only good experiences and great products from them:

SSD's
Computer cases
CPU Coolers

I have purchased and installed over 10 items from them in the last couple of months and their products have been nothing less than stellar.

Now I am tempted to purchase this cooler too!

I am posting a pic of a new build I completed last week using their Zalman CPU Cooler, Zalman SSD, and Zalman Z9 computer case.

All of it works like perfect.

I have been so happy with the Zalman products. They build quality components!

Hope this helps!

Must have cross posted from somewhere else... this has nothing to do with a cooler :)

I've used zalman's air coolers for MANY years and they are always top notch stuff and their support has been impeccable when I needed it.

That being said, this looks to be exactly like the Corsair H60 I use now and it's great.

VOUDOO 11-13-2012 06:18 PM

Zalmans RMA dept and processes are horrific. I have used their loud rattling air coolers as well as my friends, sure they cool things down. Should you need to call on the warranty prepare to get the extreme run around or flat out no responses without calling them repeatedly. I am glad you got good results, I am just showing the flip side of the coin in terms of warranty service. After buying a number of their products over a long period of time, it would be a cold day in hell that I would return.

i like air coolers better i think. but i think those corsair water coolers are good too ike h100 i heard

Why do you think air coolers are better?

The performance of all-in-one watercooling kits like these are generally lacking, in the sense that they often do not match higher-end air-cooling solutions.

However, they do offer the distinct advantage that several pounds of metal isn't cantilevered on your fragile socket / motherboard. Additionally, they are a darned sight better than the dinky little compact air-coolers for use in smaller cases, or when RAM slot clearance is an issue.

adunknight 11-13-2012 10:21 PM

here is 123 cooling system comparison chart including zalman.

http://www.coolenjoy.net/bbs/boar...=10167&p=6

it's in korean, but numbers are good enough.

and zalman is doing pretty well, little better than h60 with one fan attached.

S3420 11-13-2012 11:41 PM

i read these are all made by the same manufacturer

are the only differences between each type of low end model the branding and stock fan(s) it comes with?
or is this actually a different/revised design?

Looks like the sticker on the rear fan is peeling off, lol.
Anyways, good stuff. I have Zalman CNPS9900MAX CPU cooler, and it's been running 24/7 on full load (i7-2600k @ 4.3GHz) for a year.

Doesn't appear to be a rebranded Asetek. Only the Zalman CNPS20LQ appears on the Asetek site under OEM Customers - Do It Yourself. As to whether it's a different/revised design, I do not know.

The Coolermaster Seiren was pretty decent. Thinking of getting that Zalman too or waiting for blackfriday....

BlitzAction 11-14-2012 05:02 AM

Any idea if Liquid CPU coolers like these will get any cheaper than this (Black Friday?) or are we looking at about the lowest price they will be going in the near future?

Rice151 11-14-2012 08:55 AM

$40 seems cheap to me.

Be aware that there is a "new & improved" 2013 version of the H60 [newegg.com] for $75. This new zalman has nearly the same dimensions & specs as the new H60. The only difference between them is that Corsair has a 2 or 5?-year warranty whereas the zalman is 1-year.

WhoBeDaPlaya 11-14-2012 11:04 AM

Hope the deals are this good next year when Haswell finally arrives.

Nettozx 11-14-2012 05:31 PM

The H100 is $65 at Fry's for their 2 days before black friday sale

The $65 Corsair H100 ar Fry's is manufacture refurbished, not brand new.

ramkey 11-14-2012 05:50 PM

A manufacture refurb of a corsair H series either has new hoses or a new pump.
All those hoses break all the time, enough that major retailer like Fry's can buy enough to sell them en masse on biggest shopping weekend of year.

Zeeess... Micro-ATX board in a mid-size tower ! Funny...
And then you have a white keyboard ! get a balck one or spray a can of black paint to match it with your rig. :)

wntrsnowg 11-14-2012 07:19 PM

Probably because several models of the Corsair liquid coolers are known to leak...[see pic].

Some of the older model Corsair Liquid coolers have known leaking problems as well as pump whining/gurgling/clicking/noises.

Yeah, thanks for bringing the loose sticker to my attention. I will glue it on immediately! I hope the other parts do not come "unglued" like the sticker!

Perhaps they leaked and needed to reattach the hoses? [see pic].

The system I posted a pic of was built for the primary purpose of sales, and all the components were found deeply discounted, so I could offer it at a good price.

Most computer buyers interested in gaming are not that picky about the color...they are deeply interested in the performance...please see pic of my personal computer that I just finished building a couple of weeks ago...do ya see any difference?

I love how they say its quieter but the old fan is 30.2 dBA and the new is 30.85 dBA. Either way, I say its a good deal.
