sbuddle 11-14-2012 06:47 AM

I would be all over this if Staples had that 25 off keyboard coupon running like when I got the K400 for $5

Klownicle 11-14-2012 06:55 AM

I have the k400, walmart sells it at 29.99 regularly. Great keyboard, so I suspect the k700 is just as good.

onlythebest 11-14-2012 07:00 AM

tried to order using Paypal but after going to Paypal it just comes back to Meriline without saying complete order. Is anyone else having the same issue in using Paypal?

Why the hell do people still mention that? It's like the whole "wish memory was back at 2010 prices" debacle during the RAM price hike. Or the hard drive flood price hike. Things have changed. I would be all over AAPL if it were $50 a share.

This is a good deal.

fl00b 11-14-2012 07:15 AM

I don't see a windows key anywhere on it. Does anyone know if you can remap the search key or something to a windows key with their software? The search key would be useless for me and I need the windows key.

I never stated it wasn't a good deal, which it is, as I wrote I personally would be all over it @ the $5 price point because I wouldnt need any justification at that price to buy it, at it's current price stated in the OP I would need more reason besides the sale to buy it, which I currently do not.

Outrager 11-14-2012 07:36 AM

This keyboard doesn't have the F1-F12 keys so make sure you don't need those if you're going to get this.

twanek 11-14-2012 07:43 AM

This keyboard doesn't have a RIGHT CLICK MOUSE BUTTON. That's a deal breaker for me ladies!

silentalarm 11-14-2012 07:59 AM

I own this for my revue and i would never ever consider using it for a pc. It's alright to use if laying in bed as a remote but it's too small to do anything productive though.

Odd keys are:
* Search (Lupe) is the Windows Key.
* Home key - launches Internet Explorer.
* Back key - previous screen (either IE or Windows Explorer or within context of what you are doing)
* OK/Enter or OK (inside arrows) is Enter.
* FN + Left Mouse click is Right Mouse click...

USCsteveO 11-14-2012 09:00 AM

In-4-1 as I just finished my HTPC in the living room. Dropping cable service this weekend and figuring out how to tap into the old DirecTV satellite on the roof of my house.

jayhawknative 11-14-2012 09:31 AM

I have a logitech revue (which is now in storage) and use this with my HTPC running XBMC on Windows 8 - it works great. As Crartech indicated, FN+Left Mouse = right click. Besides, how often do you need right click in XBMC? ;)

But seriously though, this is perfect for HTPC use.

What?

Who wants a keyboard that doesn't have f1-f12? Especially f5 to refresh..

LaymonsWay 11-14-2012 09:41 AM

Nice find, in 4 1. Thanks OP

wind&salsa 11-14-2012 09:41 AM

1. Works in PC BIOS?
edit: probably not bec of no F1-F12

2. Works in OSX?

Yup, nice idea but it sucks badly w/o F1-F12 keys and no right mouse button. I never use mine because of that.

DimitroffVodka 11-14-2012 10:10 AM

Works very well for a HTPC. I have it on my Revue which I don't like but they keyboard is the only good part about it

mike808 11-14-2012 10:23 AM

For the same money at a Microcenteri you have one nearby, I recommend the MK260 instead.
Goes on sale for $25 every now and then. Much better for a HTPC or typing in bed. Comes with wireless mouse, good battery life on both kb (2xAAA) and mouse (1xAA).

With the key oddness, I can't recommend this one over the MK260.

rdubbs 11-14-2012 10:26 AM

I own the K400, has the F1-F12 keys and right click on the touchpad:
http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Wi...d+touchpad

Love it, perfect HTPC keyboard. Worth the additional $10 IMO.

All of the above is not the case on the k400. Thats odd. I have left/right click and all fn keys. Even a windows key if I remember correctly. (im at work can't check lol). After hearing that im glad I got the k400 instead.

no, completely different products. integrated touchpad (or trackball) is required for htpc

agentkhiem 11-14-2012 11:32 AM

If you're deciding between K400 or K700, buy a K400. I owned both and K400 is more practical for HTPC use.

briancl 11-14-2012 11:33 AM

can i just plug this into my sony tv? or do i have to use it from a pc?

While I agree the F keys are useful, you can use "Ctrl R" to refresh.

R7MR7M 11-14-2012 11:56 AM

Thanks OP. Was just looking at the k400 but this seems even better. I am replacing a dinovo that has a finicky touchpad and a problem with a couple of the keys that require a lot more force than the others to register.

NeoWeapon 11-14-2012 12:49 PM

really good keyboard, great for watching movies on the sofa or the bed.

burticus 11-14-2012 12:50 PM

It's cute, but I think the K400 would be better if you wanted to type anything.

I have the Lenovo mini keyboard remote thing with is also cute but equally mostly worthless. I could almost make do with just a mouse instead.

I don't have any experience with K700 but the K400 I bought for my HTPC is good and serves the purpose.

jleonard711 11-14-2012 01:26 PM

I have the K400 and I love it, but the layout of this K700 model sucks. The K400 is much more practical and doesn't have all the "gimmicky" shortcut keys, instead it has more practical keys like a regular keyboard/mouse setup.

adam empire 11-14-2012 01:29 PM

This is perfect for a living room or multi media setup. It takes a couple of days to get used to the size and key arrangement - but I have been very pleased.

ak77 11-14-2012 01:56 PM

Code still good....

Hello,

I am looking for a Keyboard with full set of keys and with Mouse integrated within the keyboard. I also need this to be either wireless or Bluetooth. Size doesn't matter for me. Could anyone recommend a good one if any?

Thanks in Advance.

Man that is stupid of Logitech. I almost clicked through the buying process on this since I like the media controls, but i'll keep my K400 :)

From what I see the complaints with this keyboard are from people buying it thinking its something else.

Its not really meant to be used as a normal keyboard. Its supposed to be a glorified remote control for HTPCs. At least I am using it for that. I wish I had read the fine print about it being for Google TV but it does what I need it to do with WMC. Volume buttons work, It has a track pad, I can control everything well enough to do what I need to in a very small keyboard package that doesn't get in the way when I dont want a full size keyboard. I already have a K270 if I want to play games etc. and didn't expect or want this to be a normal Windows keyboard.

The only complaint I have again could have been alleviated with me reading the fine print, such as the record button not working but that is OK since I can use the track pad to record. And pressing the Fn key for right click is OK... I don't see that at something I can't quickly adjust to since I only use this in WMC to watch TV.

epicd2012 11-23-2012 12:52 PM

Does this absolutely require a Logitech "companion box" to work with? I've seen people mention they're using it with their PCs even though its not an ideal layout for a Windows keyboard.

I'm having no luck with this on my PC or my Android box - no response at all. I really want to use it with the Android box [mele.cn], but not getting anywhere.

EDIT: nm, had to download the unifying software from logitech as the receiver didn't seem to be connected to the keyboard. Works fine now.
