You can still combine normal/ promo gift cards via a phone or chat order. You just can't combine via an online order.

I completed an order 2 days ago with the Dell gift card and promo card. The rep said they can accept up to 3 gift cards per order (normal and promo).

Correct. But you can use them on the same transaction if you call customer service to place the order.

You can use, $400 gift card, $75 gift card, and finally your credit card to finish it off.

There is a detailed thread floating around somewhere on SD explaining all the rules.

BTW, if you have to buy the Gift card Now, how long will it take to get the Dell email?
also how long for the promo card email?

this deal expires in 4.5 hrs...............

You can only keep it in your cart for 15 mins, you can keep refreshing, but it still dumps after "awhile". :(

dizzyguy95 11-14-2012 10:41 AM

Looks like it's 2nd gen CPUs only, not quite as hot.

For gift cards, it can take 1-2 hours to process. Dell also called me to confirm the order, for security purposes. Just to be aware.

You need to order by PHONE or CHAT to stack the gift cards. Online order is limited to ONE gift card.

slickNslider 11-14-2012 10:43 AM

Most times I'd rather get a scratch and dent computer from Dell especially a laptop. Maybe that's just me though.

I always liked these laptops and knew it had a the Intel Graphic 3000 and not the 4000 but it wasn't a deal breaker because I believed the backlit keyboard was pretty cool.

BUT you can't replace the battery!? No! I hope they're really good long term. :o(

magoomba 11-14-2012 10:43 AM

warmish... 2nd gen processors (HD3000)... 1366x768 resolution...
balanced out by the light weight and good battery life.

dommafia 11-14-2012 10:44 AM

Man how long do they take to send the egift card???? I'm sitting here waiting for it so I can complete the purchase before the 5 hour time or out of stock.

I picked one of these up the other day and it's a snappy little computer. The screen is so small, you don't really notice the low-ish resolution.

Of course, my deal was a little slicker than this one.

http://slickdeals.net/forums/show...stcount=35

Plus, I ended up getting another $50 off due to minor blemishes on the refurb system.

I searched online and found nothing that talked about upgrading it. I assume it's soldered onto the MB. I'd be happy if someone could show us otherwise.

Yes, but the ones that qualify for this deal are 2nd gen.
I'd be all over this like Clinton on an intern if it was a 3rd gen.

yarnim 11-14-2012 11:08 AM

low-mid 500's after tax for refurb 2nd gen 720p screen ultrabook on the 4Q of 2012 right before black friday. Nuts much?

MisterRunon 11-14-2012 11:13 AM

if you can get it for $505+tax i would say it's a decent deal, but at $580+tax it would end up costing me $630 for a 2nd gen refurb. not a good price.

Thats the truth. We just got 2 XPS L502 systems at the end of October. One was a refurb and the other a S&D system. The refurb looked new and had protective covers on the keyboard, Dell insignia and etc.
The scratch and dent had chips off the chassis, scratches and large scuffs along every side and bottom, DVD tray had a crack in it and the actual screen was scratched. I bought another scratch and dent 2 months ago an it barely had a 1" scratch on the cover that you could only see in bright light.....

Its definitely hit or miss on what you will get. Took me awhile to get Dell to issue a no fee return on this one too....

I prefer scratch and dent to refurb. Refurb means someone likely had a problem with it and sent it back. Scratch and dent was caught before it was sent out. Brand new and just has a tiny scratch that you often can't even see.

You might want to look at their " Updated " info on what the machines can look like now. It used to read different last yr....Also read my post above on what a system looked like we just got in the end of Oct....They have let the quality of what goes out go down hill. I have bought probably 10-15 systems in 6 yrs or so and they are not what they used to be in the outlet....Outlet new pretty much always come in pristine condition.....

Off the Dell page...

We offer great prices on some of the latest Dell products as well as three types of Dell Outlet products to help you find just the deal you're looking for:

Certified Refurbished PCs are laptops and desktops that have been returned to Dell, put through the production process and then again retested to ensure they meet all original factory specifications. Certified refurbished systems may have some observable cosmetic blemishes, but they will not affect performance.

Dell Outlet New systems are PCs and enterprise products that were canceled orders, or systems that shipped out to a customer who decided to return the system without ever using it. Dell Outlet New systems do not have any cosmetic damages.

Scratch and Dent products are systems with considerable cosmetic blemishes that do not affect performance. They are a great way to save money while still enjoying Dell Outlet's rigorous rebuilding and testing process. Scratch and Dent computers will not have scratches or pits on the screen, missing or illegible letters on the keyboard, or damage on the touchpad or palmrest.

would be interested if it had a dedicated/discrete video card. I think I'm on Dell's #hit list, I don't think they like tough customers. I'm done calling them up, no less then 6 transfers every time.

frigging indian reps then indian supervisors male and female indians everyfriggignwhere is this native america? er i mean india? anyhow I feel like columbus everytime I contact dell and whenever i deal with them i always get a phone call from a weird number shortly afterwards from yet another indian speaking inglish trying to help with my issue or something i dont know if they're really trying to help or trying to make my life miserable, or re-take america from us

We just received a new All-In-One with 23" touchscreen that was a scratch and dent and was perfect. Everything was still in plastic and after a good look-over never saw the "scratch and dent" that caused it to fail quality control and cause it to be so cheap.

With that said, if you received some scratch and dent computers that were in poor condition, that will definitely factor in my decision-making on future deals from the outlet. That is very unfortunate if they are including items with substantial problems in the scratch and dent category. Just know that, even as recent as a few weeks ago, scratch and dent still included practically new computers.

This was my post earlier ( below ) but like I said the S&D systems used to be a good deal and lately I`m wondering about it as I`m not the only one who has gotten some pretty beat up machines. The system I bought a few weeks before this had a super small scratch on the lid that was barely noticeable. I never had any systems in the yrs I have been buying them come in the condition this other one did. I had to get the Escalation team to agree to take it back with no fee as it was not as described with the scratch on the screen. Chat people were trying to make me keep it or pay a 15% restock fee as it was a S&D system....
To make it worse I had bought another Dell system back on 10/16 with 25% coupon that was listed as having a bunch of items on it and when it arrived it did not...backlit keyboard, 6320 network card and a 1TB drive were not in the system as even the build sheet said. They couldn't or wouldn't exchange this system for the correct one and had us send it back. They would not offer an exchange or replacement with the 25% coupon since it had expired waiting to get an answer on this one and told us to wait till next sale came up...This was a week later when sale came and when they sent the horrid system below to us that was really damaged. I then had to order yet another one since they wouldn't exchange it again and said send it back... I have lost faith in the Dell systems actually being checked and even more so in customer service lately...Two out of three systems bad isn't a fluke in my opinion especially within a week of another and different models...

My other post reply:
