Fry's Electronics Thursday (online) and Friday hours

Fry's is opening at 6am on Black Friday. They are also doing a separate online sale Thursday where you can order for in-store pickup and pick it up any time on Friday. The items on the Friday ad will NOT be available online for in-store pickup. The Thursday ad will have completely different items from the Friday ad and they are both supposed to have some really hot deals. So there will be deals for those that want to wait in line, and deals for those that just want to sleep in and pick up later in the day.

Last year they had both 12am deals and 6am deals, are you saying they're not doing the 12am deals again this year? What's your source?

slick.edge 11-16-2012 09:59 AM

I work there. And no, no midnight deals. 6am open for Black Friday, and Thursday 9am-6pm PT online you can place in-store pickup orders for the next day.

Fantazn 11-16-2012 10:58 AM

Since you work there would you have any insight on any doorbusters?

ilikebike 11-16-2012 11:15 AM

Doubt it, ads don't get finalized until Wednesday at the earliest.
You can guess from stock coming in next week, it's hard to tell what will be a Thursday, Friday or Saturday deal though.

vshiel 11-16-2012 11:32 AM

Thanks for keeping us updated.

vshiel 11-16-2012 11:42 AM

Totally unrelated, but do you know if Fry's will be price matching Black Friday deals? They seem to be the only store besides Walmart that doesn't forbid it in their Terms & Conditions. I can't go to Sears at 8PM on Thursday for their 50" Toshiba at $300 and would love it be able to get it at Fry's Friday morning.

ilikebike 11-16-2012 01:43 PM

They do not PM black friday deals.

I should clarify that they won't PM other store's deals, but if you unknowingly bought something that ended up in the BF ad they'll PM themselves. Varies per manager, but when I worked at Fry's I had no problems doing it for customers.

My store wouldn't do that.

Nope. Usually if the ad leaks at all it won't be from a store employee. We don't know anything till the Wednesday before.

Like I said, case by case. Since we knew the ad doesn't really leak out, we'd be OK making and exception and doing a PM for most customers. If we looked at the receipt and saw they bought everything 5 minutes until closing on Wednesday, no dice.

Are you working this year, rebelx? I've been 3 years out of that game now but I still get excited for the Friday and Saturday deals :woot:

AndroAsc 11-17-2012 04:49 AM

Are there online BF Fry's deals (i.e. they ship to your home, as opposed to order online then instore pickup).

ilikebike 11-17-2012 09:01 AM

Frys.com usually has something going on, yeah.

bfrank2099 11-19-2012 02:56 PM

Big Change at Fry's for Black Friday....

Looks like ILIKEBIKE is correct about no 12am deals. I was just shopping at my local Fry's and they are stuffing these in the bags (see attached)

Fry's is encouraging people to sleep in on Black Friday and reserve their Black Friday items online beginning Thursday at 9am. They will get a confirmation that their items are reserved and they can show up anytime before close on Friday (after 9am it say) to pickup their orders without the craziest of Black Friday lines or spending the night in the cold.

Very Cool!

ilikebike 11-19-2012 03:17 PM

It says "Black Friday Deals", I wonder if it's the same in-store deals or special Frys.com deals?

Logain8955 11-19-2012 03:18 PM

This is the smartest god damned thing I've ever seen for Black Friday.

I really hope they make a ton of money on this, so everyone follows suit, haha.

False. I used to work with our local newspaper's (largest newspaper in Bay Area) advertising department and we used to get BF ads almost an entire week prior. Not sure now. I don't work there anymore.

Wow, very cool - intrigued to see what Fry's will have to offer on Thursday morning...

DQue 11-19-2012 04:59 PM

Can Fry's servers handle the load though? Considering how "primitive" their website looks like.

Big Change to Fry's Black Friday...

Looks like ILIKEBIKE is correct. I was just shopping in my local Fry's and they are putting flyers in the shopping bags (see attached).

Looks like they are encouraging customers to not wait in line, sleep in on Black Friday byt allowing them to reserve their items on Thursday online and then just show up anytime (after 9AM) on Friday to pick up their items. I think I will be sleeping in this Black Friday!

It's 9am PST. Other areas will have to get up early

Fry's posted some blurred "ad previews" on their Facebook page with the following header info visable.

Sweet lol. Love being in Cali. Would have majorly sucked if it was 9am est..

typrax 11-19-2012 07:02 PM

Just an FYI, "in store pick-up" does not guarantee you the item. Chances are, the store will be a mess on Friday, so get there as early as you can to pick up your item. Also please no violence :P Last year at our store there were several fights going on over one thing and LP basically just said, you know what, they can fight if they want, screw it.

Well since they have no branch in Michigan - do they ship to your house or not?

Thanks

asuchemist 11-19-2012 07:11 PM

I am going to write script and run it on 10 super computers that has 100 broswers open each and go online to order a 3D LED tv.

Hopefully it will work out.

Wait, so if you order the item on the website you *don't* pay for it until picking it up in-store the next day?

So let me make sure I understand this correctly. In previous years Frys would put out an ad on Thursday and a different ad with different deals on Friday morning. This year, they are making the deals available in Thursday's ad online for instore pickup Friday. My question is, what about the Friday ad? In years past it has been quite different than the Thursday one.

SherylR 11-20-2012 02:44 AM

guys, still no ads?

There should still be a Friday on-day sale, a Saturday one-day sale, and a Sunday one-day sale. What's unknown right now is if the items on sale Thursday online will be the same items in the ad on Friday.

Here's last years ads for reference: http://www.frysblackfriday.com/2011-ad-scans/

RonDo 11-20-2012 08:50 AM

Sleep in on Friday but some things are not available on Thursday. More like, shop online Thursday while waiting in line for Friday.

Can anyone tell me which Model of the Blu Ray player is the one in the ad for $50 this week. The 3D/2D one with the major brand name??? Thanks. I just want to order the damn thing and be done with it.

ehh, have you ever shopped on black friday? when there's thousands of shoppers vs a handful of employees, they don't really care if you are mad.

ilikebike 11-20-2012 11:08 AM

I got confirmation that the Frys.com online sale on Thursday will not be the same items on sale for Black Friday.

I also got a few confirmed items that will be on sale but not the prices, I'll write up a list a little later

Hey everyone, I just got off the phone with Fry's and the lady told me that we would get 2 emails after placing an order for Black Friday. She said the first email would just acknowledge the order, but that the second email would confirm that they either had the items or they did not. She said that if I got a confirmation that the items were on hold that I was GUARANTEED that the items would be there anytime until close on Friday (I think she said 10pm).

I don't know about all of you, but I'm avoiding the lines and heading to the store in the afternoon after I wake up! :)

The fry's facebook ad mentions that "These items will not be available in-store Friday without email confirmation."

So they definitely are not going to be the same items. Too bad they are blurring the rest of the ad.

Yes, this is standard for any Frys.com online order. Please be aware that the Thursday deals are the ones that qualify for in-store pickup, the actual Friday deals will not be available online.

Don't know what store you were at but I can assure you that this year we are well-prepared and taking every step possible to make sure that "in store pickup" DOES guarantee you the item. My store, for example, has already pulled all of the Thursday ad items off of the sales floor, counted them for accuracy, and organized them neatly so that every order that comes through will be confirmed for pickup and when you bring you confirmation email it should be a very quick and simple process.

Also, once again, the Friday ad is different from the online Thursday ad, and will NOT allow for in-store pickup orders to be made. If you want something from the Friday ad you should probably get there well before they open (6am) just like with any other retailer.

FYI, there will also be a Saturday one-day ad, and then Sunday will go through to Thursday.

Jb412 11-20-2012 11:05 PM

Any guesses what the $397 50" LED HDTV is the one Fry's is teasing in the Thursday ad preview?

enkay2 11-21-2012 12:23 AM

I can also confirm the online sale with in-store pickup, my friend works at the city of industry store. Trying to get the ad from him but he doesn't have it yet probably until tomorrow night...

krava 11-21-2012 02:46 AM

can you pick the items up on Saturday if you are busy Friday though?

SherylR 11-21-2012 03:52 AM

So, Fry's physical shops will be closed on Thanksgiving (November 22) but its online shop is open.

Meanwhile, those you've ordered online (on Nov. 22) can be picked up on November 23 on Fry's physical shops after you receive an email confirmation.

Am I correct? Thanks.

Online ordering starts at 9am tomorrow. The sale items aren't even on the site anymore and they won't show up until then.
