this is an awesome keyboard. bought them used for 10$ at a garage sale

iconian 11-16-2012 02:33 PM

my fav keyboard!

nemmy 11-16-2012 03:25 PM

no thumbs up? its the cheapest i've seen! :(

NORDO 11-16-2012 04:50 PM

Has anyone purchased one of these as a refurb before?

The price is certainly right and this is on my to-buy list with a new build... just curious if there are any comments on the "newness" of these.

i've bought refurb logitech mouse from meritline before and it has little to no signs of wear. idk about keyboards but it should be fine

cooidude0 11-16-2012 06:38 PM

Good deal, I paid $60 at staples using rewards a year ago and love it! Feels like typing on a laptop.

NORDO 11-16-2012 06:43 PM

It's worth noting that seems to regularly retail for $39.99 at Overstock.

Also, though they aren't currently selling refurbs, there are 25+ reviews of this at Newegg.

wired. pass

Michael-M 11-16-2012 06:49 PM

Wired is the best way to go with Illuminated keys, unless you want to be replacing them all the time.

Love this keyboard. Currently typing on it. Has never given me any problems.

EnzoFX 11-16-2012 06:50 PM

This model is just a little oudated IMO, for a little more you can get a K800. Last BF the K800 deals were $50. For just plain being cheaper, still a good buy though.

hermitman13 11-16-2012 07:05 PM

I actually own both this one and the wireless one. I looooove the keyboards but the 3 key was loose as it was refurb. After two tries I couldnt go any longer without a keyboard and stuck with it. Its better than other keyboards Ive used even with the wonky 3 key.

So, between the two, which do you prefer?

Mine's going to be used at a desk so wireless doesn't honestly matter to me much. All that I really care about is the most comfortable keys, wrist wrest, and best overall quality.

vexx786 11-16-2012 08:44 PM

I have had this keyboard for two years now, I love everything about except that it doesn't work in the BIOS or any other function of my computer prior to windows loading.

slickerslicker 11-16-2012 08:48 PM

Love this keyboard at the same time Hate it. bought 4 in the last one year. if one key is pulled out (happened 3 times with my 2 yr old) it just can't be fixed. the engineering logitech employed in fitting the keys makes it difficult to get the key back on to the board once removed. Be careful if you have kids who have access to this keyboard. once a key removed forget about fixing it. I am ready to buy another one if the current one breaks.

boomie 11-16-2012 08:51 PM

Using mine now...I LOVE this thing! Cat chewed the cord of the 1st one and I loved it so much I re-bought it. Highly recommended.

RaytheonLiszt 11-16-2012 08:52 PM

Best keyboard I've ever owned. I'm not joking!!!!

I might pick up another just in case they stop making them...

HeathAU25 11-16-2012 09:02 PM

Good deal, but just a note to potential buyers, I did buy a Logitech wireless mouse from these guys that was "refurbished" and arrived clearly used.

Kind of made me think of what the mouse was used for specifically... but after a few Lysol wipes I got over it.

packerfan43042 11-16-2012 09:04 PM

This is a very good keyboard. Great for just about everything. Works perfect at night.

krazyshopper 11-16-2012 09:09 PM

This is an all purpose keyboard right? Not just for gaming...

edit - I'm going to assume it is all purpose. I just picked one up. Thanks OP!

Wayne 11-16-2012 09:11 PM

I love this keyboard and ordered one from Meritline a few hours ago to replace my work one that got flooded from hurricane sandy 2 weeks ago (3.5' of water in my office and EVERYTHING was ruined). My previous one was a refurb from Meritline and it was fine but apparently it wasn't waterproof.

AznCracker 11-16-2012 09:21 PM

umm i bought this new for $35* from staples

I guess ill have to chime in too. I also LOVE this keyboard. Great to type on and backlighting isnt blinding in complete darkness. Be wary though i have heard these are not great for multiple keypresses needed for gaming.

Mine works fine in the BIOS. Make sure you are not plugged into a usb 3.0 port. Use a native usb 2.0 port.

What kind of motherboard do you have?

nJoy7 11-16-2012 09:57 PM

Great price on this keyboard...

...but after using a mechanical keyboard, I'm not able to use anything else! :\

This keyboard was $30 from Staples as a Black Friday deal 3-4 years ago. That's when I got mine. Recently retired it in favor of a mechanical board (WASDkeyboards V1 w/ MX brown switches), but the Logitech served me well for the most part, really, there's a lot to like - great backlighting, media controls, decent scissor style switches.

I think this keyboard was $25 or so last year or beginning of this year with Staples coupons. I didn't jump on it because at the time I didn't see the "need" for one. But damn was I wrong, I want one now just because it's a backlit WHITE keyboard. None of that green crappy looking MW3 Razer keyboards. Anyways, I might just jump on it since many SDers are posting positive reviews on this. But on the contrary, it's refurbished and I'm kind of skeptical. So can someone shed some light on Meritline's refurbished products?

i would get a mechanical keyboard, but i cannot find one to try out. None of the stores have them on display. or at least i cant find them

rahd001 11-16-2012 11:35 PM

Used keyboard thread and the trolls and wiseasses are on vacation? Must be the holiday spirit. Impressive!

l0aded 11-16-2012 11:39 PM

OK price, great keyboard. my only problem with it is there is an FN key instead of the right click keyboard button. besides that amazing keyboard.

old staples deal was much better obviously but i have no problems with refubished and i just broke mine (spilled) last week so this is convenient.

aznar 11-16-2012 11:40 PM

Heard about every great thing about this keyboard, bought it a year ago, and simply didn't like it due to its low profile keys. Sometimes even if the 99% likes it, you could still be that 1%. Just saying.

bizzy2010 11-16-2012 11:59 PM

i have the k800,, awesome keyboard.. i use it 10 hours a day... and i charge it once a month

BigMillerTime 11-17-2012 12:25 AM

This is crazy. Everyone is talking about how great this keyboard is, and I agree! It's amazing. Your right, it is probably my favorite keyboard I have owned as well. But I had to sell it. What's up with the ghosting?! Do none of you play fps shooters? This keyboard is flawed and it sucks. WTF Logitech?

You can't play your best on Battlefield 3 when your keyboard isn't registering all your key strokes. The logitech had to go. What a stupid flaw.

Have the Razer Black Widow now.. noisy but accurate. Sweet! Not a Razer fan boy tho. Rolling the G700 Mouse and Logitech G930 Head Set. Would have kept this keyboard if it wasn't for the ghosting.

In conclusion... if you don't game, no problems!

uberw00tness 11-17-2012 12:34 AM

I never would have thought that "feeling just like typing on a laptop" could ever be a positive selling point. Guess i'm in the 1%

yeah its usb 2, its an HP computer, motherboard is by pegatron, lga 1366

prankies 11-17-2012 01:03 AM

I was very happy with this keyboard, and I still keep it around as a backup.

It has GREAT aesthetics; by far the sexiest looking keyboard I have ever owned. Gets lots of compliments. The backlight is nice, and I really enjoyed the low-profile keys once I got used to them.

As a warning to gamers, however: some people report issues of GHOSTING with this keyboard. Some versions cannot do common gaming button combinations, such as W+Shift+Space (in some games that would be forward, sprint, and jump by default, kind of important!). I have fairly odd customized controls, so it wasn't an issue for me and I never ran into a problem. But if you're getting this keyboard for gaming and typically use a default-ish setup, make sure you do some research first!

It makes a pretty nice travel keyboard if you take off the wrist rest. Very small footprint for a full-size keyboard. It actually fits easily into my laptop bag (though it is a large bag designed for a 17" laptop).

krave 11-17-2012 01:43 AM

bought one (to use at work)

i already have one of these at home, i purchased a dented box last year from logitech for $44 shipped and love it

even though the k800 the wireless version of the regular one, the feel is still different. The plastic white casing on the back of the k800 makes it feel somewhat cheaply made. also the keys have a more rougher texture as well.

there's a trick on putting the keys back. There should be a plastic white brackets under the keys that you need to spread apart. What I used was two mini screwdrivers. Toothpicks should work as well. You would see that the white brackets would be more aligned to a clear box. You can now snap your keys back into the keyboard easily.

Source: ive taken apart my whole keyboard before

Try the K800, comes with a cable when the batteries are running low, you can recharge via usb without taking the batteries out.

I have to 'plug' mine in every 2 weeks or so.

Per my previous post, I've received a clearly used product from meritline before when they called it refurbished:

Been waiting for a decent deal on a backlit keyboard

I got one last time Meritline had this deal; only the high level functions worked.
Logitech gave me a new one! All handled on line or over telephone, and they told me to keep the defective unit.
So, if it works, it's a great product.
If it doesn't work, it has a great warranty (handled by Logitech!).

Not backlit... :(

BigTymer1 11-17-2012 08:58 AM

i have this keyboard, just know that it will take some time to get used to.... no spacing between the keys like a laptop..... after an 8-10 hour shift at work, my hands would begin to hurt with this keyboard.....

ComputerDr 11-17-2012 09:23 AM

Code is no longer working.

Edit: Works now. Odd, had to close out of the tab and add it to my cart over again. Thanks OP.

Insane as it might seem, some of us don't. I haven't played a PC game in a solid 5 years. Just use my computer(s) for video/photo editing, browsing, etc.

The joys of getting older, homeownership, blah blah blah... ;)

Jaxmoto 11-17-2012 08:42 PM

Just a word of warning about these newer refurbs going around....

I bought an original when they first came out for about $80, worth every penny. They keys were tight, short travel and they were almost dead silent.

I got a refurb for about $40 to replace it after 3 years of typing and gaming and the new refurb has noisy loose keys. They are just not made with the same quality as the originals were.

Compared to the refurb I got I would rather have bought a newer model, maybe over to a Sidewinder that has similar design ideas.

aragorn2000 11-19-2012 04:56 PM

Good luck buying from Meritline. If anything goes wrong, they have no customer service. My order was shipped to the wrong address, and will not re-ship, or refund

teo829 11-24-2012 05:22 PM

I got this refurb keyboard today and the S key does not work! I'm a little disappointed and will contact Logitech.

Have you contacted Logitech yet? Can you let me know how that turned out?
I am extremely disappointed with my keyboard from Meritline. It arrived heavily used with dirt sticking under the keys. And the T broke and fell off. Contacted Logitech, and made the mistake of telling them up front that it was a refurb unit from Meritline, and was told that I'd have to contact Meritline to get refunded.

Ugh, that's ridiculous. Glad I just opted to order a new one from Amazon for $58 last week.

ComputerDr 11-27-2012 04:22 PM

Just to follow up, the keyboard I received is in excellent condition, couldn't tell it's a refurb. Also, three hours of L4D2 (an FPS game) and no hang-ups pressing too many keys at once. Great buy!

received my keyboard with a broken key..

What do I tell Logitec?
