SlidingBike 11-18-2012 01:50 AM

Just piked the Antec Nine hundred for $42. Shall I consider this case instead of antec 900?

If you're under 16, keep the 900.
If you're over 18, get the Fractal.
If you're in-between.......stop playing with computers and go get laid.

bruteshot 11-18-2012 07:11 AM

The cable management on this blows the 900 into oblivion.

Noobzilla771 11-18-2012 08:56 AM

When will the mini ever go on sale :O

jd990 11-18-2012 10:09 AM

According to anandtech, it's a good case that unfortunately stumbles on noise level. They suggested that you should swap the fans with after market ones to make it better.

bruteshot 11-18-2012 03:30 PM

they wouldn't price adjust me even though I bought 2 weeks ago, lame

syn0s 11-18-2012 03:34 PM

love this case.. I got it for $65 with the google offers $20/$40 thing along with some ram. One fan went bad, but their service/support is top notch.

wish I needed a second one.. I'd get this over an antec any day.

Antec fans are worth more than $10 for trade off. Their quiet cases Px are the best. Waiting for the Antec P280 go on sale but don't like any MIR now.

This case has like zero cable management. Spend an extra $40 and get a better case. Buy a good case, while mobo's, cpu's, ram, etc. might go bad/get out dated a good case lasts for a very long time.

You are referring to the 900 in the bold part, right? I heard they cut one extra hole since I got mine, but now that I have the Midi I can hide everything so nicely. The 900 was a mess.

SidewinderX 11-18-2012 03:48 PM

I jumped on this -- looks like a great case for the new build

Married is another good option?

beldar3648 11-18-2012 04:26 PM

I got this case as well instead of going with the Antec 900. Now I just need another sale on a PSU.

Robert95z 11-18-2012 04:28 PM

Dead?

Edit: nevermind lol.. in for one!

hoangtuan221 11-18-2012 04:32 PM

sumthin_gud 11-18-2012 04:38 PM

looks like a fantastic case. i nabbed the 500r from that last deal, i don't regret it one bit. cable management are great in both of these cases!

Got it. Thanks OP. Looks awesome. Now i hope the windowed side panel for this would be in stock somewhere...

dealhasluredme 11-18-2012 07:53 PM

Well I finally bit on a case. This price was too good to pass up, and no rebates to deal with. Very slowly but surely putting the pieces of my new build together.

agureghian 11-18-2012 08:45 PM

deal is still on.

ah thanks, just worried because it was listed as extended atx, but seems like its not THAT big (TWSS) just from someone who quoted in that thread:

Standard ATX is 12" x 9.6". According to NewEgg description, this motherboard is 12" x 10.38"

Noobzilla771 11-18-2012 09:44 PM

I think they might be getting rid of stock for the release of the sideWindowed version?

undermined 11-18-2012 11:19 PM

I've owned this case for over a year. It is nearly perfect and for $60USD I could overlook what little it doesn't get perfect like the large logo and front fan mounts that clip in instead of screws.

Comes with a 3 fan controller and the 3 stock fans are pretty good 140mm models, plus it has a ton of room for a watercooling radiator up top.

Even with a push/pull setup it will clear the motherboard because they offset the mounts for extra clearence.

lots of fan mounting options, room for long video cards, extremely good cable routing options and a ton of hard drive sledsw/ rubber mounts, all in a mid-tower, I love mine. :)

bk_InAZ 11-19-2012 01:43 AM

Does this thing really have the power supply mount at the bottom? That's bad, since heat rises, and we want to keep things from heating up other components. So the coolest running stuff should go at the bottom, and the hottest running stuff should be at the top (if possible). Putting the power supply at the bottom is dumb. It should be at the top, or be thermally isolated from the rest of the case. But I'm just an EE, so feel free to ignore.

louminater 11-19-2012 01:46 AM

That is lame. I love everything about Newegg except for their customer service. They won't even pay for return shipping if they send you a defective product. Such bull*&^*.

You're right, that's ridiculous. And I'm a microbiologist/computer scientist studying bioinformatics. ;)

I emailed them a week ago about that and there are currently no plans to release the case with the window panel. The window panel will be available soon as a separate item (although I think they've been saying this for a while).

You two are right about the heat going to the top and putting the PSU thermally isolated. However, most bottom mount PSU cases like the Arc Midi have grills on the under side, so the PSU gets fresh air beneath and vents hot air outside the case (assuming the PSU is placed facing downwards with fans on the bottom like this [staticflickr.com] and not on the rear [pcper.com]). Most non-OEM PSUs sold today have bottom fans. Also, the PSU will not be competing with the rear fan.

PLUS second graphics card will have more space for air, like in this set-up [photobucket.com], since it will not be facing the bottom of the case.

So bottom-mounted cases can actually be better.

From a nobody with no engineering or science degree. Definitely feel free to ignore.

code is expired... knew i shouldn't have hesitated.
