Condition?

Is this better than Galaxy tab 2?

sabaka 11-19-2012 05:59 AM

Do you know if Groupon would charge sales tax in NJ?

kefe 11-19-2012 06:23 AM

This tablet pretty much has everything. I'm curious too what condition this is in. I'm seriously thinking of buying myself my first tablet.

zeketorrence 11-19-2012 06:25 AM

I have the 32gb version of this. HIGHLY recommend- great tablet

I believe the condition is new since it even includes the User Manual. Also, Groupon usually only sells new items.

The Asus TF300 is definitely quicker than the Galaxy Tab 2 based on the fact that its processor is a Tegra 3 at 1.2GHz vs the 1Ghz Dual core in the Tab 2. Also, it has better front and back facing cameras. The TF300 also has a micro-hdmi slot so you can connect it to your tv, but for the Tab 2 you have to buy an adapter. One thing the Tab 2 has over the Asus is that it has an IR Blaster so you can use it as a universal remote.

I wouldn't recommend this tablet. I purchased one from OfficeMax in September, the next day the touchscreen stopped working. Exchanged it and it worked ok for about 3 weeks and then the touchscreen would randomly not work, sent to Asus for repair and when I get it back it worked ok for 2-3 weeks and then touchscreen had same issues. It's currently getting "repaired" again. But it was a great tablet, while it was working....

Good find, thanks OP

chucky_larms 11-19-2012 09:23 AM

There's not a lot of activity on this topic. I thought the TF300 was supposed to be a really good tab. I guess it's hard to get excited about a deal, unless is super slick, this close to BF.

Wondering if I should pull the trigger on this or wait for a lower priced Nexus 10.

This is going to be $279 at Best Buy on Black Friday. Great deal, and you don't have to stand in line!

Welp, just put my TF101 up on Amazon. I'll jump on the 32GB version when a deal comes along. Don't need the space, but the 32GB holds resale value better.

I guess it comes down to how much someone is willing to spend.

At $269, you're still getting a pretty good Android tablet that has 4.0 ICS available, and a good chance at receiving future updates.

Or, you can spend $399 and get a super new tablet that is guaranteed updates for at least another year/two-years.

The $130 difference is real money to many folks. Personally, I would try to save up the extra $130 since the screen's resolution is such an integral part of the tablet experience. Nevertheless, this is a good deal for those who are only looking to spend around $250.

im not debating that... IMHO i would rather have the tf300 at this price than the nexus4 at $400+

i was replying to the guy who said the TF300 was the same thing as the nexus10 which it clearly is not

id rather buy a bmw for $40k than maserati for 100k, but the maserati is clearly a superior performance car

Never mind...I see on the right side of the page says GOODS

But it would have been awesome with the 15% CB and an extra 5%

The only other CB site that offers that much is T0PCASHBACK.com but I'm not so sure about their reliability. Shop@home is at 7.5% only

Good price! If you're getting this, I HIGHLY recommend that you buy a keyboard dock along with it.

It really gives the tablet much more versatility -- turns the tablet into a netbook when you need it. The keyboard dock is fully integrated and gives you a lot more benefits than say, a wireless bluetooth keyboard.

After getting a keyboard dock with my TF101, I won't buy another tablet without one. I'm tempted at this price, however I got my eyes on the TF700 =).

I can confirm that this DOES update to 4.1 JB WITHOUT ROOTING as I have it's slightly bigger (32gb) cousin.

Seems to me this is a Slick Deal, given I paid $380 for the 32gb version just a few months ago.

Probably due to the "repost cops" as this deal is a repost of a previous, by one hour, deal.

It pretty much excludes everything you could buy from them. Which means I won't be buying it. Slickdeal with the 15% shopdiscover. Mediocre compared to what we're likely to see between now and january first.

She's a screamer... and that's a good thing . Very smooth, skype works real well, reasonably decent front facing cam. I have had zero problems thus far with it. HDMI works AWESOME.

There is a workaround to get Adobe Flash working on 4.1 JB using the stock android browser, I can confirm that working also. I can also confirm that the workaround DOES NOT work with Dolphin Browser. I cannot confirm if it works with Chrome or Firefox either as I don't use them, however, from what I've read it does not.

Do a google search for Adobe Flash on 4.1 Jelly Bean without rooting. I am at work and don't have all my hacking info. in front of me.

There is only one Asus dock designed for specifically for the TF300, but others may work.

Some of the other Asus docks/tablets are interchangeable, but you may not get perfect fit with the dock/tablet combination.

The most common keyboard dock swap is people using the TF201 dock on the TF700 (as the TF700 dock has less battery capacity).

The TF101 can only be used with the TF101 dock.

Using the dock with tf300will crack the screscreen thanks weaker glass and hinge design. On the stronger tf101,201,600,700 using the dock is ok since these have stronger corning glass and stiffer casing.

I use the tf300 in the car daily by mounting in visor with a portfolio case and rubberband. It 10x better than useless car garmin gps. I can look up a address on the tf300 then spend 5sec mounting the tab. No need for car power since the tab has a 7 hour battery. Its the safest heads up gps display Ive ever used.

10 inch is safer, faster reroute, more economic routing. A 7 inch tab would work better for smaller car visors.

All the tf300,600,700 have working gps. I know from using them.

I have little knowledge in tablets.

I want to buy a tablet to connect it to a TV via a micro-HDMI cable, so I can watch ESPN on TV. I found a lot of 7'' tablets on ebay. They also have micro-HDMI ports and are very cheap, like 70 buckes. e.g. MID M729 White 7" Android 4.0 OS Touch Tablet PC 1.2Ghz 512MB RAM 4GB HDMI WiFi.

Do you guys think the 7'' tablet will work or I should go for this ASUS deal? We have a iPad 2 (can not connected to the TV) but I do not mind to buy another tablet to watch on TV (through HDMI). Again, I just want to use the HDMI function to watch video (ESPN, youtube) on TV.

Thanks.

I second this. I was doing a lot of research a few months ago when I was looking for a budget yet powerful tablet for my dad. And I see so many people reporting this issue. I still bought it for my dad since I know he would use it carefully and don't use an attached keyboard. So for people who let their kids play with their tablet, just be aware that this screen is much more fragile than other tablets since it does not have gorilla glass. My dad has been happy with his tf300 so far. He uses it mainly to browse internet and watch online videos.

Does anyone have a link to the dock. I found a blue one and a white one for TF300 but no champagne one. I want to be sure I can find a dock before I bite!

Thanks!

Yes, you can prevent docking cracking if your very gentle opening and closing the TF300 keyboard dock. I'm just saying be very cautions of this because fixing a crack screen is more costly than the price of this tablet.

Anybody's order Shipped?

I need it by end of next week for Overseas trip!

krichbaum 11-20-2012 08:08 PM

I got in on this one for my first tablet. I kept waiting for the right combination of features and a price under 300 so this looks good enough.

Alcetic 11-21-2012 04:14 PM

I never had a tablet before...should I get this one? Will prices go down in the new year?

BDestroyer8418 11-22-2012 01:42 AM

I'm still deciding what one to get This, Note, N10 or the TF700T. Accepts up to a 32GB card can you still use a 64GB. I only ask since I have a extra 64GB would I just be limited to 32GB or will it not work at all.

I wish Google would start adding the SD card in the Nexus line that's the only reason I have not jumped on any thing from yet or atleast make 32GB standard no more 16GB can't do crap with that when your left with 10GB.

biodole 11-23-2012 10:27 AM

This and the ebay deal are the same....sub-par and mediocre at best.

This tablet should be in the $199.99 area on cyber monday. If not, there will be something comparable.

64gb in exfat will work on tf300 and tf700. tf300 super long range wifi. Tf700 crisp 1200p text.

Before you buy, google "tf300 IO", can't believe regular browsing causes ANR because of slow IO.

Google io fix with developer setting and dolphin mini too.

Flash 11.1 works close to flawless and fast with dolphin mini and opera mini.

It's been a week!
No update on shipping yet, Groupon doesn't allow to cancel order :(

Joseph_Kerr 11-26-2012 07:04 PM

I'm still waiting for shipping info as well, but I believe it said ETA would be about December 10th.

I bought this for my little brother, so I'm hoping for some sign that I'll be getting his present sometime in December.

Did your UPS tracking info ever change after they shipped it?

bachak 11-28-2012 09:18 PM

No tracking info yet.
Seems like it will not be delivered this week, it's going back to Groupon!
I hope I don't have to fight much with them for return.

Joseph_Kerr 11-29-2012 12:58 AM

Huzzah! I have recieved a tracking number. Hasnt left yet, it was just created. Still, it's a sign of life.

:)

Joseph_Kerr 11-30-2012 09:12 PM

Update:

The tracking information was updated 4 hours ago, it shows the tablet will arrive Monday so I'm very thankful.

Figured people who haven't heard anything on their end might appreciate to hear about updates from customers like themselves. :)
