Sucks that the 8GB model also has 512MB versus 1024MB for the 16GB model.

This is super slick. Better build quality than the Kindle (in my opinion)

That's a nice deal, but I'm betting Amazon will sell the old Kindle fire for 100$ at some point.
So I'm not sure if I should bite. I like the smaller form of the kindle.

The $59 Nook Color has just one CPU, but most kids don't care about specs, so It's a great gift.
The Tablet has twice the specs, but I might wait for the Kindle fire sales.

The 16GB Tablet has twice the specs, the 8GB doesn't. It has a better CPU but the RAM and storage is the same. It's basically a Nook Color Tablet light. I'm thinking the 8GB must be the QC rejects of the 16GB. Either the RAM or the flash had faults so they are selling it out as a 8GB version. It's just standard parts binning.

If you guys don't have tax and shipping. I would definitely get this over the nook color. For me with both CA taxes and shipping/gas it pushes it up to $100. The nook color for $59 clean becomes more attractive. I'm thinking that B&N will sell this for $79 on their ebay store sooner or later.

The CPU is more than double the power, It's 2core A9 CPU over one A8 CPU That alone makes a huge change in specs. The 8GB can be upgraded with a SD card. The ram is the only similar factor.

The 8 GB came out as a direct response by B&N at that price point to the Kindle Fire, since it has the same exact hardware stats. The 16 GB came out several months earlier, was more expensive, and has 1 GB RAM versus the 512 MB of the 8 GB.

Just be aware that you have to be somewhat careful how you hack the 8 GB. Since it came out earlier, most of the dev work went into the 16 GB version and it's very easy to brick the 8 GB with the wrong mod.

That was for the reader, not the tablet. Different product.

This one must not have been available for shipping for long......I tried not long after this deal was posted and it was only available for store pickup.......

That and sales tax kills the deal for me!

I got a BNTV250 nook from cowboom, and root using cynogenmod10. It's running great :lol:
Does the nook comes with bluetooth? I couldn't turn it on .. :rolleyes:
