so in total... this would be $270 instead of $300... but the difference would be the 100W vs 200W sub |
ESW-8 has 8-inch driver, while Power 10 has 10-inch driver. It is also on sale [newegg.com] with promo code EMCJJHG76 for $120 shipped free.
You can't go wrong with this combo for a small room, and these are the best price I have ever seen. I purchased the Energy Take 5 3 months ago from eBay for $170 and the Power 10 from Newegg for $180. Yes, call me dumb and I thought they were good deals at that time.... Quote:

Thinking about going for these speakers with http://www.newegg.com/Product/Pro...0130-L031B sub, which will be $189.99 at the time. Will be $10 more than the other package but the sub appears to be better quality.

Would you recommend a subwoofer to go with this? |
In for one and cancelled Pioneer SP-BS21-LR that I ordered earlier.

Any good budget receiver to go with this set?
|
i bought the yamaha receiver yesterday on amazon.com for $300.
will this work with my receiver? or do i still need a separate subwoofer? thanks |

I need help finding a deal for affordable speaker and or sub woofer to work with my receiver. thanks |
100 W sub vs 200 W
I was looking for these speakers and sub. The combination is 280$. The sub says 100w. Amazon has these speakers and 200 W sub for 299 here
http://www.amazon.com/Energy-Clas...energy+5.1 Thanks |
Slickdeal! Ordered these yesterday for $150. Cancelled and reordered for $130. Thanks OP!
|
Too bad I bought these for $150 in the spring. Paired with a good sub these sound great. They worked with the regular speaker stands you can get at Best Buy.
|
Bought these for $150 less than 10 hours ago on NewEgg and the bastards wouldn't credit the $20. Canceled and reordered, but man, the NewEgg I used to know would have helped out instead of making it difficult.
|
I have these speakers and they are great but the one thing I really hate about these speakers are the rubber sticker feet. They leave a yellow mess underneath and move around and "slide" off the speakers way too easily.
|
Any comments on the included 8" sub with the Energy Take Classic 5.1 set on Amazon for $299 vs. buying this setup from Newegg and adding a sub like the Polk PSW-10? Looks like the Energy subs are pretty pricy on their own.
|
Pulled the trigger finally after waiting for long time for price to come down from 150 :P ... now i would need a separate subwoofer and a receiver to go with it. Any good suggestion for a medium size living room??
Also, are wires long enough to place the satellite speakers around the living room? wish they were wireless compatible lol |

Are you an elitist or a extremely audiophile? If no, then you'll be happy. :) Honestly, I just bought the setup so no comment, but from my research you should pair the main speakers and the sub doesn't matter as long as it produces the frequencies that you're main speakers can't. If you have a good receiver, it'll handle parsing out the frequencies on its own. Both the Polk and the Energy get awesome reviews for the price. |

i bought the set with energy speakers and energy sub from amazon yesterday for 300.....should i cancel that order and get this set instead?
i read that the subs are different...but are the speakers the same? i m thinking if they are, then i'll get the speakers and then polk sub....any suggestions.....please reply quick :) |
Bought these last night for $20 more. Had to instant chat with Newegg support to cancel and reorder with the promo code. Thanks OP!
|
I just placed an order for the Dayton Sub 1200 (http://slickdeals.net/f/5545264-D...ts-Express)
Now I am wondering if this sub will over power these speakers. Any ideas? |
Three pages and all I'm reading is discussion about subs and receivers. The only mention of the actual item in this deal is that the sticky rubber feet don't still so good but I'm wall-hanging so that doesn't apply to me. Can anyone comment on the actual speakers in this deal? I already have a 10" sub and just need to replace my aging Onkyo HT in a box speakers. I assume these will be better but how good are they? Worth pulling the trigger for $130? There was a Newegg deal the other day that I missed for a $300 5.0 set for $140 that I wish I had pulled the trigger on. This 'deal' doesn't seem like a super deal based strictly on money difference unless these never have a discount or something. What am I missing?
|
Sorry for newbie questions.
1. I see "Speaker In" on the back of subroofer. Were speakers supposed to be connected to Receiver? 2. Do we need to buy wire or it comes with wire? Thanks! |

I have had Energy speakers for years. Its the same company that made Mirage and Sound Dynamics brands (good stuff) For the size and cost of this set, Its a steal!!
Also just fyi, the Energy subs are really great for their small size. You will be happy with these, Especially at the price!! |
In for one, I remember wanting these at 199. Thanks OP.
Any receiver or sub deals? I hope there is a 5.1 receiver deal for <100 and this will be awesome. |

I bought this subwoofer - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Pro...6882290034 I read anything more that 10" may be too much and it won't sound well. I also bought 2-100 foot 16 gauge speaker wire, a set of banana plugs. An optical audio wire. (Amazon was better for the cables and accessories) And atlantic wall mounts for the speakers. (These were ~$30 shipped) My total cost was around $620 with tax and ship included. I also bought the panasonic st50 for $999 not tax and free ship from paulstv. |

Subwoofer does NOT have to match the speakers, and is one of the most important component of your system. Spend the most you can on it, but try a couple out, see what u like and dont go overboard. |

I prefer this or any flat shape over the boxes cos I hardly have any space around my tv. i live in one bedroom apartment. |
For some reason I just purchased these speakers. Next up a sub and receiver. Repped

BTW, for those asking about the PSW10: I've been using this sub in our master bedroom for many years now and it's fantastic for this application. We have the PWS505B in our living room (larger more open area) and it's also been fantastic. Our theater has two AV123 15's so it's not that I'm not sure what good/full sound sounds like or I don't know what I'm talking about here. The Polk subs represent a fantastic value in powered subs and for the money when you find them on deals here and there I can't even build a powered sub for that kind of money. I know because I have built them before and while they may perform better to the average user looking for a sub to pair with these speakers it won't matter. For under $100 w/free shipping it's going to be tough to beat.
|
Pulled the trigger! been wanting these for a long time. I guess I will go with the BIC F12 sub. Got to look out for a good deal on receiver. Any suggestions which receiver will work best.

Question for you guys. I bought these speakers last night along with the Polk PSW505 Sub http://www.newegg.com/Product/Pro...6882290130. I live in an apartment and upon reading some more of the reviews today, I see that this may not be the best choice. Will there be much difference between using this sub with low volume vs using a smaller sub at a higher volume?
|
Quote:
It's not just that it's the fact that the larger 12" sub plays at a lower frequency (top end and low end) than the 10" sub. Simply put the gap between these speakers and a PWS10 would be smaller than these speakers and a PWS505 which would sound better to some. The lower bass of the 12 may be better for LFS in movies in such but I question how much you would get to utilize either a PWS505 or a PWS10 in an apartment. If it were me I would have gone with the PWS10 for your setup/needs and even then you will have to keep the gain low to keep neighbors happy. I think people are crapping on the PWS10 w/o reason and some are getting the idea that it's a POS but I can tell you that it most certainly is not. It's a VERY solid performer and is capable of a LOT of sound. |

I would. Especially in an apartment. I think you will be quite happy with the PWS in an apt with this setup and will find yourself lowering the volume to keep the neighbors happy. |
In for 1 plus the psw10. Now for the receiver! Any Ideas?
|
We just bought the $300 Yahama receiver from Amazon yesterday and this speaker set from Newegg. Planning to get the PSW10 sub for $80 from Newegg. I prefer Newegg since I need to pay tax in Amazon. Question, where & what kind of speaker wire should I get since they are not included. I know nothing about audio system. Just trying to get a good basic sytem for the new house. Thanks.

Nope. just add a Blu-ray player or PS3 and have FUN!!!!
|
What's a good receiver to go with this?
|
I just bought these speakers and have a few rookie questions. I am planning on pairing these up with the Yamaha receiver I bought yesterday. As far as the subwoofer is concerned, I have this outdated Panasonic HT system [newegg.com]that I picked up for free from a friend. It sounds great, but lacks many modern features. The subwoofer is listed as
250W (1kHz, 6 ohms, 10% THD) (RMS) 95W (45Hz-120Hz, 6 ohms, 1% THD) (FTC) I also ended up purchasing speaker wire RCA 16G from Amazon. Three questions - Can I use that subwoofer ? - Do I need banana plugs ? (I googled them, and found that they are more of a convenience and aesthetic thing) - Does my setup need anything else to go with my new 60 Vizio ? :) |
How do these compare to the Logitech z-680 or z-5500 speakers? I have a z-680 with a blown subwoofer and I'm currently using the remaining speakers with Sony STR-DH720 Receiver. It sounds good but I can't compare them to Energy speakers as I never used them. Any comments?
|

How are these music-wise? I've heard mixed reviews as far as that goes. Obviously they can't contend with something like the Pioneer floor standing and bookshelf speakers, but just how well do they perform, especially with high res sources?

the 2 floor speaker the sub woofer. now what is center channel and surround speaker? |
Quote:
Front Left and Right => you bought these Subwoofer => You bought this Center Channel => You need to buy this Surround Left and Right => You need to buy these See this link fr speaker placement http://www.crutchfield.com/S-iLSc...ement.html Edit: 1) That is why this set is a good deal. You get 5 speakers in the set and buy a subwoofer to complete it. 2) Edit 5.1 setup is minimum, there is 7.1 and 7.2 setup as well. 5.1 is good enough for home consumers. |

|
I'm confused on how the setup works. Can the four speakers connect to the central speaker which you connect to the tv? And how would the setup work if I decided to get the subwoofer. Let me know.
|
You need a receiver. A receiver is the heart where everything is connected to. TV-PS3, Settop box, Roku, Speakers, Subwoofer. Everything connects to a receiver.
|
People that dont know what center and surround channels, i bet you guys may have trouble when it comes to setting up your system once you get it.
|
|
Anyone find a receiver yet for a good price???? I am not locating anything significantly discounted!
