Xbox 1600 MSP Points for $10 is live in targets (mine did not have a tag)
I don't know if my target just forgot to put up the sign or what, but just in case it was all of them... I strolled in an hour or two after the carnage hoping to get a few. I went to the display and all of the 3 month cards were cleaned out. So I asked an associate when the point card deal goes live and she told me it already is, just isn't marked. Walked out with 20 cards and kinda wish I would have bought more.

Same - grabbed all 35 they had. They rang up as $10 so maybe Target's QC/inventory mgmt people updated the sku# to match the ad in the past few hours.
$10 for 1600 msft pts seems clearly a misprint - they probably intended to place the image for the 3mo XBL card there (for $10, as makes sense for a BF deal) but placed the 1600msft points there instead. Oh well -- loads of cheap DLC for me and my gamer friends. |
Are they closed now already? Or are they open until tomorrow?

Worst case scenario: MSFT does away with MSFTpoints in the near future and I get screwed out of $350. Unlikely as it's MSFT and this points system greatly benefits them. 'blah'-case scenario: I sell them all at slight discount-to-face ($15, $17 or so) and still make some profit. Best case scenario: I use 5, give 5 to friends at $10/1600msft pts, and sell 25 @ $15/per. Total take-in of ($10x5)+($15x25) = $425 ... $50 profit and 8000 msft points for free. |
Target will not close tonight.
Thank you for this thread. After reading it I went and bought 9 at my local target, They are only honoring the price of $10 on the card with the white and green logo, not the card with the character on the front. At least at my location, so the logo is important. If you've seen the two cards you'll know exactly what I'm talking about, |
Thanks for posting this. Going to make a trip back out there.

Sidenote: if you're worried about getting stuck with MSFT points (ie, buying too many cards) -- consider your friends list (on Xbox live) will probably happily Paypal you $10 for 1600 MSFT points in a week when this deal is looked back upon (with a grin) as having been ludicrous. 'cause it is. Basically, you can almost certainly get out at cost and benefit people you know (your XBL friends) if nothing more. Happy holidays everyone! |

I would say when it comes to Microsoft stuff keep a stockade... We absolutely cleared house with the 7$ Xbox Live Cards at BB last year... I will probably clear house if anything is left today. Prices will only go up on Xbox Live as more services and products are added (pts included) so if you plan on using the service for a while (I do for the foreseeable future), I would stock up for yourself. |
I went last night at the 9:00 opening. My Target didn't want to honor the $10 price that was listed in the ad & keep insisting that I needed to buy the Live cards. I stayed calm, wouldn't leave the check-out line & finally after talking to 3 different associates & a manger, I was able to purchase 20 of the point cards.

My Target pulled them from the shelves. I price matched at Walmart.
My Target would only give me the 1600 for $10 for the newer cards. The older cards with the different printing than in the ad did not count they said. They would not waver so I went to walmart and they price matched.
Which ad is this deal in?
I couldn't find any of the new cards in stock at the Fargo ND location but the front checkout had a bunch of the old version 1600 point cards. Trouble was the old cards were marked $19.99 so when I tried to check out at the front lanes and insisted that it was the same product as in the add they wouldn't honor it.
I took the same cards back to electronics to check out and they rang up at $10.00 no problem. YMMV obviously but figured this may help some out! |
I went to the Orem, UT location and found that their electronics dept. was out of all 1600 point cards. I was on my way out of the store when I noticed that the check-out aisles had tons of the old style 1600 point cards (the one that has the female xbox live avatar on the bottom corner). I thought I'd ask the cashier to price check. They rang up at $10.
TL;DR Make sure to look for the cards in the check out aisles for these cards! Orem, UT ones rang up as $10 for me and they have a lot left. |
Between my 2 buddies and myself, we just purchased 30 cards from a Super Target in Durham.
I saw like 2 other groups of 3 (slickdealers?) grabbing cards too. They had plenty on the individual checkout lines and a whole large stack in the back in the Entertainment Section. This deal is sweet- makes getting things like COD: BO 2 Season Pass soooo much sweeter! |
I hit up two Targets in the St. Louis area, neither had them last night. Electronics or at the checkout lanes. Bummer. Got a few games from Gamestop later at half price.
bought 25 and used my Target debit card for additional 5% savings. Ended up 9.50 each. Cheapest I have seen Live points.
Got 10 for $100

Bought 16 in OFallon, MO. They had maybe 15-20 more. This was around lunch time. It was the green and white logo ones. They also had the one with the avatar on bottom right of card but I didn't price those. They were in the electronics area, dunno about the checkout aisle.
Last night it rang up $10. now it's $20

Lancaster, Ca rang up at $20
My target wasn't offering the cards for 10 bucks. They were 20 bucks. Any chance anyone could pm me code. I'll pay 10 bucks for it.
My local Target had them, but they rang up at 19.99. They refused to honor the ad. I took it to Wal-Mart about 20 minutes ago. and they price matched for me. Awesome deal!
Update, got 5 cards at target cause they said i couldn't get more. Had to show ad. I also got 2 at walmart even though they told me that one price match max.
Visiting in Ripley, WV, went straight to walmart, grabbed 64 cards (green and white). Cashier had to ask her manager about PM, she got her manager, she called somebody, came back and said go for it. They had at least 50 more of the other style card (avatar in lower right corner), but I didn't try those. I'll probably go tomorrow to get the rest. My tablet is jacking up trying to give rep, but I'll definitely be back in this thread to do that, thanks guys.
yeah, i got 5 from walmart on pricematch. Should have gotten A LOT MORE
I was at my target earlier getting a few items this not being one of them. I forgot all about the deal until I went to check out and there were about 50+ at the register with all of the other gift cards they had. I just grabbed one out of curiosity and had the lady scan it. Rang up at $10 so I grabbed 2 of them. Another Target I stopped at later on had the same thing. The cards were at the register and rang up $10.
So is this a Friday only thing? We've been in the hospital having a new baby and I'm not sure it would have been good form to step out to Target for these.
An update: fiancee just came back from walmart with 50 more, still the green and white kind, and apparently they have at least 100 more (I only had given her the green light for 50)
I got 15 earlier at target, might go pick up some more later. Wanted to leave some for others. At first they were trying to say it was only a doorbuster when clearly this isn't the case just be persistent.
I'm assuming this deal isn't live anymore now that its Saturday?
In their ad it states that the sale for the ad lasts all saturday as well. YMMV I had no real problem this morning getting my 15

Where is the ad I have to show?
They have the ad at target stores
Awesome thanks :) I found it online too just in case.
took the ad scan to Walmart and PM'd for 7 of them. Had to talk to 3 diff employees, but like my dad says, "be persistent!"
Went in today at 3:41pm Central Time. Took one to a register and they guy didn't know anything about it. He called over a Manager who pulled out the ad to check and then gave me the discount. No tax either in Nebraska. Something about the way they run the cards it bypasses tax...
hmm, now what to do with all these cards...? There isn't enough stuff I like on XBox Live that I can spend nearly enough points on. Seems like selling on ebay is not worth it. I may have bought too many. I should be able to return some of them without problems right?

I went in and bought 5 of these myself from my local target. They were the white cards, not the green as displayed in the printed ad.
They rang up as 19.99, but a manager price-matched them down to $10 since their printed ad did indeed show the $10 price. This was today (Saturday). Those were the only cards I could find, so be prepared to have to ask to price match them if you get the white cards. Thankfully they had no problem doing so even though someone on their walkie-talkies told them it was a "misprint". (As far as I know, stores have to honor misprints anyways to prevent bait and switch) |
I went to target today and got the ones shown in the ad. It rang up at $20 but i took it to guest services and the cashier told me they ran out of the $10 ones yesterday even after I told them the deal was live both days. What bs.
Is it still possible to price match at Walmart? |

Just so you all know, get on selling those, new Xbox system comes out next fall and there is talk of ms switching to just a reg monetary system like ps3 , I was at walmart on bf and just showed the ad to the cashier and price matched no prob . Only got a few guess I should have got more the way people are talking on here
If anyone's still seeking them out, PM me and we can arrange something.
Bought 35. I saved 5 for myself, figure I'll share 10-15 with friends. That leaves 15 cards if people are interested. All in, my cost was about $11/card with tax so if $15/card seems fair (little something for my time and still a $5 discount on a $20 card), let me know. Glad to have found this deal and don't feel compelled to seek out that extra $3-$4/card if I ebay them later on... blah, too much hassle. Sidenote: if i'm violating any rules by suggesting a transaction in the forums, I apologize -- just trying to share the discount for anyone who couldn't get the cards locally. I almost only bought 5 out of skepticism the deal wasn't legit, but now that I'm like - uh - wow! - sweet. Thus, no need to go for the big score awaiting more $ for the cards, and this way some fellow SDers could get in on it. |

I remember a discussion I had with others whether Microsoft would close down the Xbox Live system and render everyone's purchased XBLA games obsolete when the new Xbox comes out. People seemed to think universally that even Microsoft wouldn't be that low and anger all of the people who purchased games on XBLA who can no longer download them or play them on other consoles using their account. So, if that's true, I can't see that Microsoft would void and render worthless all of the existing points cards. I assume when you redeem a points card you'd simply get 1.2 cents per point. I have no intention to sell my extra $10 Xbox Live 1600 points cards and intend to keep them for a couple years to pay for what I buy. Until Microsoft or Sony violates my expectations that all digital content I buy will indefinitely be mine to play as long as I own either console, I'll assume the best. The moment either company violates that and takes away any of my purchased games is the last day I will ever pay anything for any digital download game on any platform (Steam included). I buy to own the games indefinitely... not until a bean counter at some company decides to take my games away. Most games I've bought I've never even played. |
I didn't even think about bringing in the ad scan and doing a walmart price match. This was one deal I wanted this year and it sucked because there are no targets within an hour of where I live. Oh well, guess there's next year.
zmh317 you paid tax on yours? I went to target and 2 different walmarts and paid tax on none of mine.
This worked for me on Saturday and they didn't charge me tax either (and I live in MA).
Took me 45 minutes on Friday evening, but I was finally able to price match at Walmart.
Yeah, no tax is usually charged on these in most states. Most gift cards/points cards are like that.
An economically sound plan... touche.
where's the ad for this?
