vizio 60" still available at walmart for $688

:D:DI just went to WalMart about 2 hrs ago and got myself 2 60" vizio for the same price as the door buster. They were just unloading it off the truck and stocking them at the store. I am sooo excited right now as I haven't slept in 24 hours searching for this tv.:). You guys should go and check your WalMart store if they have them in stock. I got mine in the Columbus, oh area. This is the best black Friday ever, lol. i went from being sad to the happiest man alive.:) I have receipts if you guys don't believe me, so happy shopping.:)

I'm just letting people know who couldn't get one online or at the store for the 10pm one. They can now get 1 or 2 in my case without waiting in line. Time, patience, n tenderness love will do the rest.:)

arls544 11-23-2012 06:33 AM

is there anyone else having this option available? I am tempted to go try my local wallyworlds to see. They were sold out before I even got there last night....

They were sold out at my Walmart too. I just got bored and went back there just to walk around and kill sometime. That's when I saw them unloading the TV by the food aisle. It was not even in the electronic area, lol. :D

toobrown 11-23-2012 06:55 AM

stood in line for 5 hrs to get this TV

uscboy 11-23-2012 07:10 AM

There were 6 or 7 sitting out still at my Walmart in Columbia, SC (Harbison) at ~8:30 with no one around them or checking them out. Still sitting there when I left the area around 8:45.

TheSharkman2k 11-23-2012 07:16 AM

Just checked online and they're back in stock at the original price of $998

ElysiumSA 11-23-2012 07:39 AM

One walmart near me says they have it in stock in store, what are the chances they give me the $688 price and not the 998 price?

Not to be a bigger dick but no, they weren't. They were available in in 1-2 minute bursts spanned across a couple hours. There's a difference.

let one of the workers scan it. The price should be 688.

agent099 11-23-2012 07:51 AM

Id pay $100 more just to not have to deal with the long lines and the headache of trying to find this TV. I wish Costco online had it for at least 788.

frza21 11-23-2012 08:01 AM

So is this still on sale for 688? Its showing in stock at a local walmart

yes, I just got 2 this morning for 688 each. They scanned the bar code and that was the price I got. It might have changed for the last hour is so, but I don't know.

Yes, as others have said, the sale is for today as well.

Also, I just noticed it went OOS on walmart.com. I am thinking it's going to come back in stock at the $688 price

Jobronie 11-23-2012 08:13 AM

Am I imagining it, or in the past 18 hours online did it go from 688 to 899 to 949 to 998 now......?

I don't think so.

TheSharkman2k 11-23-2012 08:16 AM

TV is obviously a great deal at $688. Is it even worth it at $988?

dkman610 11-23-2012 08:17 AM

Does anyone realize that this will be the new price for a 60" TV moving forward after all this hype dies down?

Yea, it will be the regular price when the new models come out in the spring. Some people might need one now though. Buying a new house and can't stick my 60" DLP on the wall. So I kind of need one now.

fr0st42 11-23-2012 09:15 AM

Anyone else think they should match the online price with the store price? Or do these sales only apply to the stores?

DrewSkiDouble 11-23-2012 09:23 AM

I stood in line for 2 hours yesterday to get the tv in-hand. I managed to order one off WM.com in that small ~15 minutes window early yesterday morning. Unfortunately I now own two 60" Vizios because it wouldn't let me cancel my previous order. My email was also greeted this morning with an 'Order Shipped' message from Walmart. I know the Walmart I was at had 42 units in the store but only 30 people in line. Good luck finding one in store.

gawd, I WISH that's how many people stood in line for it at my place. 70+ people 2 hours before the tv was to be sold and only 35 tvs in stock

fr0st42 11-23-2012 09:26 AM

Mine had 25 units with 37 people in line lol. I even got their 3 hours at 7pm. Sucks everyone in Wisconsin wanted one it seems like. Walmart says they are sold out everywhere in a 100 mile radius.

wormraper 11-23-2012 09:29 AM

It said it was in stock at a local store, went there, employees denied that they were in stock, almost laughed at the thought that they would be. Most other stores in the area showed they were OOS.

alex83168 11-23-2012 10:34 AM

Same thing here.

cmpe 11-23-2012 10:43 AM

Guys. Go to the Walmart site. Click on find in another store. If there are any listed as in stick or limited quantity, go there now. Ask for it. They may have them in the back.

The store near me said "limited quantity". Csr didn't want to mention how many they had but she said around 8.

Ivelweyz 11-23-2012 10:44 AM

The Walmart kind of by me says limited quantity but when I asked the worker about it and he said they only got 9 and they were sold instantly last night. You would think the inventory would be correct but he swore that they were all gone..

Sucks.

I checked it last night. There were only two stores near me; one said "In stock" the other said "Limited stock". I didn't think much of it. I woke up today and saw both were "Limited stock" so realized somehow these availability numbers were getting updated.

After checking out and seeing about 4 more TVs being brought from the back and sold, I checked online again and the availability changed to "Out of stock" so the numbers were updated somewhat frequently.

Cino 11-23-2012 12:01 PM

really almost everyone says SAMSUNGs are a lot better, etc. made me rethink the Vizio 60". and still looking. like Best Buy Samsung 55" for $800.
rather pay a LITTLE more for better quality. Vizio's look ok, don't get me wrong, and that 60" is SO TEMPTING.
but i'm trying not to get carried by the hype. my 2 lg's went on the fritz. so no more LG's and some have mentioned that Vizio uses some LG components. i'm not sure of that but i read it.
good luck all!

amdmaxx 11-23-2012 12:07 PM

And I hear new better models come out every year.. Make existing models drop in price.
$700 for 60 inch 1080p was unheard of just 3-4 years ago.. progress is good!

Do you think that Sammy at Best Buy is any good? They have 3 at my local best buy. I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on it.

even though the 60 inch is a better deal...

fr0st42 11-23-2012 12:36 PM

Yea the 60" is a doorbuster deal so it would be hard to beat. Im just wondering if the samsung is a descent tv. It's a Best Buy exclusive model so there aren't many reviews out there.

I don't even see how this is that great of a deal, considering the brand and price...not to mention the fact it's Walmart.

Hate it when they do that...

But, typically, they just add one letter or number to the model number just to make it "unique". Check out avsforum.com, there may be a thread dedicated to the "parent" model.

getbigg21 11-23-2012 12:43 PM

the samsung tv is a good model. the EH models aren't super thin, but they have better overall picture b/c you don't have to deal with the clouding, etc of the edge lit models

looking quickly Samsung (Model: UN55EH6000 55" LED HDTV 1080p)
CONTRAST RATIO is 5,000,000:1
Vs Vizio 60" is 1,000,000:1.

think that's a pretty big thing re: picture quality, etc!

DontTaxBeer 11-23-2012 01:35 PM

I agree that Samsung makes great screens in general and they have a great reputation for producing HDTVs with exceptional PQ. However, Samsung does produce "value" models targeting the sub-$1000 buyers. So it's important to take a look at the model specifically and not be thrown by the brand itself.

For me, I took a look at the EH6000 models (55" one was UN55EH6000) that was like $800 and it seems like to me the PQ isn't something to rave about.
If PQ was the most important thing than I'd be looking for a full array LED TV with local dimming instead of an edge-lit one.

Contract is vizio weak point meaning the blacks are not that black. truthfully if you don't have something side by side you'd probably never know. I did read that the vizio is poor when viewed from angles. Im leanings towards Samsung..picture looks richer. of course if I got tthe $688 price I could easily live with ;) known issues

If PQ was the most important thing than I'd be looking for a full array LED TV with local dimming instead of an edge-lit one.

think ur right.
people are saying the EH6001 series are real good and back lit (not edge). 2" thicker but...overall picture b/c you don't have to deal with the clouding, etc of the edge lit models.

anyone?

I went over to one at around noon that was listed as "In stock" last night and "Limited stock" this morning. They had "around 8" in the back. Was not on the floor.

I just saw one of the employees roll one from the back area and a guy buy it. I asked if there were any more. They checked and came back said it looked like they had around 8 in the back.

They rolled mine out. I saw other people talking to the same employee and asking for it. I checked again around 2pm today and saw they updated the web site to "Out of stock".

Advice I like to give to new homeowners is to check out HD home theater projectors and just do a DIY screen.

Example: http://www.projectorcentral.com/h...ectors.htm

Its cheaper and you get a huge ass HD experience for cheap.

Checked two stores near me, both had "In stock" online. Employees said they were out, didn't want to check in the back.

They said the online inventory wouldn't be accurate for a couple days yet with all the BF nonsense.

I am watching sports on the vizio TV right this moment. The viewing angles are freaking amazing. This is the best TV I have ever had and I have a few in my young life. You cannot beat the value and picture quality of this TV. Name me a TV that can compare to this for $688?

went to several walmarts and they pretty much laughed at me and said they were sold out before the sale even went live.

getbigg21 11-23-2012 04:08 PM

yeah i'm getting one right now. i should have it hooked up in a few mins. this will be my 5th vizio over the years. i really like what they have to offer. i really can't notice a lot of difference between these and any other tv's unless they are next to each other.

wks2002 11-23-2012 04:08 PM

Thanks for the heads up. Went last night but wasn't early enough to get one. After seeing this post, checked the local stock. One city over had limited stock. Found a nice young lady in electronics that had a hand held device. Told her I figured it was not accurate but online said they had some. She punched in UPC and hand held device showed they had 5. 15 minutes later she returns with 2 guys carrying one behind her. Figured there will be a fight among the 5 employees that were planning on buying them after their shift. I would have not thought about checking stocks.

The employee that helped me look for it in the back was very coy about it as well as very smiley. Like she didn't want to let out the secret or something. Initially, she just said I could buy one with a smile but when I asked how many there were, she was hesitant to give me details. Not in any bad way, she was actually friendly.

What was funny was that everytime the guy who had to get the TV from the back came back with the TV on a roller, she had to tell him to get another because of the people seeing them roll it out. Probably had to go back 4-5 times.

Granted they aren't Sony or Samsung, but I fail to see how you would consider them a no name brand. :shake::shake::shake:

rageaster 11-23-2012 04:25 PM

Not to be the biggest dick but vizio blows. Samsung all the way.

wormraper 11-23-2012 04:31 PM

what's the sku?

and as for vizio blowing. their listed failure rate is 5%... Samsung is 6%

getbigg21 11-23-2012 04:40 PM

yeah they are sold out around here but i found one on craiglist for $850. i don't mind paying a little extra considering i didn't have to wait in line for 6 hrs

DaymondM 11-23-2012 07:40 PM

I see this is back in-stock on Walmart.com, but for $998. Any chance they will pm this, since it was $688 at some point today?

Sifka4 11-24-2012 11:07 AM

OOS once again online.

think that's a pretty big thing re: picture quality, etc!

That MAY be true, but simply put you can debate quality all day, however at your home you will not have a Sammy and Vizio side by side to notice the difference.

Sweet deal

Nice job OP. I am headed to check on that myself in the NE OH area.

Doogie find a new home to troll and thread crap.

No it's not, it means literally nothing.

There is no standard for contrast ratio, the company can basically run the tests however they want and post whatever numbers they want so that consumers will look at them and say "Well, this TV has bigger numbers so it must be better!"

...looks like it worked.
