Seems like a good idea... Ralph's is great with double coupons... I'll start off I guess :)

Hot Pocket Calzones are on sale for $1.80; .75 off coupon (5/13 Val) doubles to $1.50. So you pay .30

Scotch Brite Heavy Duty sponges are free. On sale for $1, $1.00 off coupon in the 5/20 Val, so free :)

Thanks for the invite!!

Thanks for the invite... Although I am not that familiar with how Ralph's and Vons work in terms of couponing, I figure that even with their "higher" prices compared to places like Winco and Super Walmart (in Chino) that you can save more using the coupons correctly and specials just like CVS.

So will be looking forward to see how this works and what coupons you use outside of SmartSource and Valasis.

Was going to think about going to the GG to get lists -- but the impending strike has made me hold off for now.

schnauzermomma 07-12-2007 12:11 PM

Cool idea. Have subscribed, although I am not in CA. I do shop at the Safeway equivalent here and am always on the watch for deals. I think our ads are often very similar.

Not sure if your stores have done this, but ours now have a section for 'clearanced' meats, where they put the stuff that has a 'sell by' date of today or tomorrow. Usually these only have a 30% off sticker on them, and often have the 'special price tag' pulled off, but I check these sections everytime I'm in the store, as sometimes they throw a GREAT deal in there. For example, 50 or 75% off, with the 'special price tag' left on, or better yet, a set price of 59, 79 or 99 cents for the whole package. I have bought lots of ground turkey, ribs and roasts from this section.

Now I just wish our stores would double larger coupons. Ours triple coupons up to 39 cents and double up to 50 cents. No competition to do more than this.

Go to the Target thread. - - > It's all in the Wiki. (Special K and Schick Hydro would be the key search words.)

- - - I'd list it all here, but there really is so many deals right now that I wouldn't be able to list them.

I went to Tarjay today, I did the schick deal. I only got 2 of the 6.99 razors, thats all the q's I had. But with the overage I got 2 razors, 1 cover girl mascara, 1 loaf of bread, 1 reaCH DENTAL FLOSS, 2 rolaids and 1 oral b toothbrush, all for $1.75 I still don't get the Special K deal. wanna splain it to me ? tell me all about your 65 dollars of stuff for 4 dollars

After a bit of research...

Go here and print the coupons... http://www2.kelloggs.com/Product/...px?id=1992
and here http://www.specialk.com/products/coupons to print the $1 off granola.

Then go here http://slickdeals.net/forums/show...stcount=19 to see which deal you want to do =)

Scenario 3 is nice cause it is a $10 MM =)

There is also this deal- http://slickdeals.net/forums/show...count=6964 where you can get a TS3 toy too... but apparently the TS3 coupon is a major beeper.... =/

It's not that complicated I don't think... it just seems like it cause all the different scenarios. I plan to bring a ton of coupons and, the printed list of scenarios, and kind of wing-it when I get there.

Hope that helps!!!

mrs.techrat 07-08-2010 08:26 AM

Thanks for posting that link. The scenarios were posted in the Target thread Wiki but not there now. :hmm:
I had done scenario #1 just because I haven't had a whole lot of luck with Target and was kind of nervous. Our prices were slightly different too.

I didn't realize that that were using MQ's to cover even for the "free" Fiber Plus items. I had bought just fiber plus bars so didn't use the cereal Q's to cover for those.

If you follow the deals exactly, you'll get the overages. My prices were $2.75 for the cereal and $2.69 for the bars. Lots of coupons, yes... but did a bunch of other deals to make up for it.

Schick Hydro Razors MM: http://slickdeals.net/forums/show...count=6109

In the target Wiki, scroll down to "Hot Deals"... you'll see a bunch more deals you can add to your cereal order.

HTH also.

Still YMMV. I got a sharp cashier the other day. She adjusted the discount of each Q. Still a good deal but it was not a MM deal.

I was at Ralphs this morning and I had my last 4 beggin strips coupons (thanks to ednred for the coupons) so I had to try it again. The $5 CAT printed today, so there must have been a problem with the machine yesterday. I noticed a tag about the CAT today, and it said it goes through 8/9/11, but I think the coupons expire tomorrow.

They'll probably have to go back to it, though. They had one terrible July (especially in California). http://www.businessweek.com/ap/fi...TBUD80.htm

I hope all of you are having better luck with Ralph's than I am. I found plenty (like, whole shelves full) at my store (Menifee, CA), but the cashiers (collectively, upon consultation) would not let me use b1g1 free coupons (I was attempting to get 8, use 4 B1G1 coupons). The strange thing is that they were TOTALLY OK with me buying 4 at a time and using 2 B1G1 coupons, and then just paying tax...2 times...but they claimed the registers wouldn't let them put the 4 couponsif I had bought 8 all at the same time. After much arguing about it I did just do the two transactions (clearly no CAT for me) since I just had to pay tax anyway, but...whoo. Horrible experience.

I was frustrated with Ralphs and emailed them asking if they have a coupon polocy. The response I received is in the wiki on the first page of this thread. They have a policy, but basically the store manager can do whatever he or she wants, which leads to the inconsistency at different stores. I go to different Ralphs depending on what coupons I want to use. Some will ony double one coupon but take BOGO coupons on a BOGO sale. Some will refuse the BOGO coupons, but will double unlimited coupons. Some stores don't like coupons at all, and I avoid those stores. I'm not familiar with any of the stores near you.

Yes, I've been extremely frustrated with my (very) local store because of their (apparently) local coupon policy...only doubling 1 coupon per transaction etc. But I noticed that the Ralphs in Riverside (Canyon Crest) has much more agreeable employees and apparently a slightly different coupon policy. And what always makes me sad is how they're owned by the same people as Kroger, which has an extremely lenient coupon policy! Oh well.

Ralphs and Vons are now much the same leaving coupon policy decisons to local (mostly idiot) managers. You just have to test the waters and find your coupon friendly locations (and build relationships with good cashiers and managers over time). I've found Ralphs Fresh Fare, not unlike Pavilions (Vons), locations to be more friendly. Ralphs still is more coupon friendly than Vons. Albertsons, though, seems to be the most coupon friendly (only because most of the cashiers are clueless) now.

Is anyone finding any deals at Albie's with the doublers from the "Big Book of Savings?"

I had hot pink 1.00/2 Lunchables peelies (exp. 9/30/11). They're 10 for $10 this week, so after doubler, each coupon gives me 2 free Lunchables. Also, I have 1.00/1 Keebler peelies that would pair nicely with the 1.88 wyb 6 sale, if I can find a nice cashier who will let me use 6 doublers in one transaction. My cashier today let me use 6 in one order on the Lunchables.

Anyone else coming up with anything? These doublers are burning a hole in my pocket!

They'll still free at Ralphs (1.00) so don't waste your doubles at Albertsons on them.

DKLA 08-09-2011 01:26 AM

On 8/8, I purchased over $75 worth of groceries at Vons after VonsClub discounts but before coupons. I should have received a $10 coupon off my next order per the ad for the "4 Day Weekend Sale" event, 8/5 thru 8/8. I specifically purchased $75 worth of groceries after VonsClub discounts so that I would qualify for the $10 coupon. Unfortunately, the coupon did not print and the shift supervisor on duty refused to give me the $10.

We looked at the ad which said you get the $10 coupon "when you spend $75 or more in qualified purchased in a single transaction with your VonsClub Card or ValuePlus Card (calculated after deduction of card savings and all other discounts and savings and not including the excluded purchases below) ...."

The shift supervisor stated that coupons are considered part of the "all other discounts and savings" since paper coupons appear on the Vons receipt along with club card discounts in a section called "Your Savings."

I felt this was misleading since the offer terms mention "discounts and savings" but do not use the word "coupons." Further, coupons are more like a form of payment than "discounts and savings," since they are offered by the manufacturer, and transferred from the consumer to the store, rather than being offered by the store. The store will also receive payment from the manufacturer for the face value coupons, plus a handling fee.

What do you think?

cjfrugal 08-09-2011 08:02 AM

call Vons customer service and ask them. Too many store employees do not think coupons are a form of payment.

It was my first "dumpster diving" experience. I went to the post office last week when the doublers got mailed out and dug through the garbage cans inside. There were at least 10 sitting right on top of the garbage. It was all paper (letters, grocery ads, etc.) so I didn't feel too gross about digging through the trash. I don't get any doublers in my mail but lucky for me, lots of people with PO boxes throw their doublers away. :D

Snip..

I think this was addressed on their Facebook page awhile back. If I remember correctly, the total has to be above $75 after Vons store coupons. The Manu q's can reduce the amount below $75 and the cat will print.

It worked for me that way for the super bowl Sunday promotion at Vons.

azsavings 08-09-2011 03:56 PM

Why is there not more chatter about the doublers at Albie's? I got 105.15 worth of groceries for 6.88 out of pocket! :woot:

.12 overage on Keebler cookies & Frosted Flakes
.88 Pop Tarts & Nutri Grain Bars
1.00 Oscar Meyer deli meat
Free fruit

I know a lot of it can't be replicated because I used a lot of peelies, not insert or printable coupons. I just took my coupons around the store and matched up some items on my lunch hour. I'm sure there are more deals out there. Can't wait to see what's in the new ad! Click here for the full break down of what I did... [blogspot.com]

For me, the eqs work fine, but NOT when I also use a mfr.q:shake:. If I even dare to try to combine them, the eq just adds back on to the total.;):omg:. So they are ok if you are NOT planning on using a mfr q.

I used JFU ecoupons at Pavilions last night on Breyers, Reeses Ice Cream, Klondike and Starbucks. All four JFU ecoupons came off and I used the $5/15 frozen food coupon from the ad. Did not use any mq on any of those four items. I had a JFU $5/15 coupon loaded, but it did not come off as others reported it did for them. Also bought 5 boxes of Frosted Flakes, used $1 mq. Paid $11 out of pocket, but got $3 cat and all boxes had the Cars symbol, so turned it in for $5 gift card. I'm in SoCal, but like to visit NoCal :)

on my way to Albies in a little bit to get some cheap progresso soup...anyhoo, just wanted to give a heads up here since I dont know where else to put it.For those with a Smart and Final in the area, I got my smart and Final ad in the mail, and they have the farmer john smoked sausage 3 lb pack for 6.99. When you buy 3, you save 6.00 instantly.

so..
3 x 6.99 = 20.97
-6.00 instant savings
-6.00 $2 mq x 3
=8.97 for 9 pounds of sausage, or just under $1/lb.
they have this same sausage for almost 12 dollars at albies! regularly, anyway. i think it was on sale for 8.xx.....but YMMV, im not sure how all S&F run their sales, if its the same sale universally, etc.

there are also other participating items in the save 6.00: Bacon, ham, link sausage, and pork chops. HTH :)

The coupon policy found here (http://www.vons.com/IFL/Grocery/Coupons-Policy) doesn't seem to have a limit on like# of coupons.

Edit: I guess since technically they "reserve the right to refuse any coupons" at their own discretion, they could arbitrarily make up that rule as they go.

Thanks for the linkie.... I actually called the store and asked too and I got the same response basically you said too, one store can say one thing and the next store can say another, so wishy washy that policy, Geez....
Will have to figure something out tho....

Can anyone use a $20 certificate (from The Daily Save) to Stadium Sports Bar & Grill located at 149 S. El Camino Real in Encinitas? The promotional value expires 8/17/11, then it decreases to $10. I have a couple I won't be able to use before 8/17 and would be happy to offer them to someone here. PM your e-mail address to me if you want one.

Yes, the bread is on sale this week. I love Albertsons right now. I used two coupons on Heritage Organic Milk half gallon that is on sale for $3.50. I still had a coupon from the ralphs Optimum wellness magazine for $1.00 off, and used a real california milk coupon .55 off on another, used two doubler coupons, and did a dollar off on each. Love it.

I bought 4 today in one transaction (men's in 4 different varieties) and only 1 $2 cat printed. Then I bought 4 again (men's
2 of each different kind) and got 1 $4 cat. I ended up returning them all because I didn't want to waste my doublers. Boooooo I missed out......

I just handed the cat back to them with the receipt when I asked for the refund, but I'm not sure if they would have asked for it back since they are actually pretty cool. I wanted to reinforce to them that I am an honest couponer so they hopefully stay cool with me in the future. I immediately asked for a refund, so it was no problem for them to get all my coupons back from the drawer. HTH

I wish I had thought of turning around and returning everything. One time I returned bad gr beef a few minutes after I bought it Albies mgr wanted to deduct the $1 so I asked for my wine tag back and gave them a choice... ( I was newly menopausal at the time LOL)

Going to chime in on the Albies doublers. Not much but this might help:

Degree deodorant (trial size) $1.25
- $1/1 MQ (does not specify size) + doubler
= Free or $0.75MM

sdca 08-13-2011 09:15 AM

I can't seem to find the post about Hamburger Helper, but I tried it this morning at Albies and got the $2 CAT and $5 CAT. I bought 10 HH, used 2 $1/5 MQ from 8/7 GM, and 2 doublers. Paid $6, got back the 2 CATs for a $1 MM. Both CATs say thank you from general mills.

The $5 CAT says on next shopping trip, the other one says Save $2 on any item on your next shopping order. Does this mean I have to purchase an item that costs at least $2 to use the CAT?

Has anyone tried Chicken or Tuna Helper to see if they give the $2 CAT? TIA

Just realized I saw this deal on a blog (by socalgal) instead of here. Her blog says the deal works for hamburger/tuna.

I'm going to donate them, like almost everything else I "buy". ednred told me she tried the Chicken helper and it also worked for boths CATs at Albies.

Anyone know how I can get on this Albertson's mailing list? My Albertson's is like 3 miles away, but I never get any ads (or stupid doublers) for them. I've updated my address on my Albys card and everything... :(

It has greatly impeded my ability to hoard Dreyer's this week. Well not greatly...I was just a little slow on it...and it wasn't free.

Dreyers Ice Cream is on sale 2/$6 (retail 6.99), buy $12 worth get $4 cat.
They must be going off retail because I bought two & got the cat.

6 - $1/2 = $5
- $4 cat = $1/2
(free if you use a doubler)

PS: I couldn't find any Mocha Almond Fudge...is this just my Albys or has Dreyers lost their mind?

Good luck. I also live about 3 miles from 3 Albertsons in different directions. I never get an Albertsons ad. I've contacted their CS a number of times, I'm always promised to be added to the list but I never am. I've done this with Food 4 Less and other smaller market chains in Los Angeles not in my area and I do get specially mailed ads from them but never Albertsons.

cjfrugal 08-14-2011 01:32 PM

do you get Albertsons ad in the mail with other ads? if not you can sign up here http://www.redplum.com/couponbook.aspx or contact them at 877-823-7119. Ralphs and Sprouts are the only grocery chains close to me all the others are 3+ miles away

For anyone that does have stupid doublers, the HH at Albies is still producing both CATs today.

For those that don't have stupid doublers a better deal would be to buy 10 HH for $1 each and use 3 of the .75/3 MQ from today's SS. After coupon cost $7.75, then get $7 back in CATs, a $5 CAT and a $2 CAT, so it would be .75 cents for 10 boxes of Hamburger/Chicken/Tuna helper.

This has pretty much been my only organized trip of the summer and I'm posting a screenshot of my list in case anyone finds it helpful. Basically, HH $2 cat is printing (off of 10 for sure, I didn't want to try 6) and I got a GM cereal CAT for $2/5 (first tran) and $1.50/4 (second tran). I felt bad for paying for that much for cereal, but I've been slacking on the milk deals and I love me some Cocoa Puffs so what can you do. & file name typo fail, I know.

On another note: Anyone else stop getting Fresh & Easy ads in their Sunday paper? I miss those x off y Qs they usually include.
ALSO: There was a demo for Fiber One 90 calorie bars (something like that) and the lady was giving out $1/1 Qs too so look out for that..mine was in the back at the cereal endcap near the meat section.

ponycal 08-14-2011 11:58 PM

I found a great Budwiser $3 peelie that combines perfectly with the Bud beer/penny water deal at Albies. I bought the 20 pk of Bud light and a case of Crystal Geyser water. I was able to combine the $3 off any $3+ water peelie wyb Bud and the case of Crystal Geyser water for a penny Albies deal. The preferred card took off $2.99 and the peelie took off $3 since the water was exactly $3. For some reason I was only charged a nickel CRV for the case of water & $1 CRV for the beer. It was a great deal for me as I used an Albies gift card that I got free from a RX for the balance. I also found a bunch of other beer tearpads and rebates at Albies.

Albies had a big sheet of coupons that included coupons for $2 off Huggies, $1 off Visine, $2 off Garnier, $1.50 off 2 Pedialite products etc. They also had a booklet that said, "Pack to go back" with ten coupons for various items including $1 off 2 Ritz, $1 off one Kraft string cheese, Coke q's etc.If anyone wants the size details just lmk. Have a delightful night everyone!

Yes, I signed up in-store and received one a couple of weeks later, but it was BOGO artisan bread (new addition to my store) and $5 off $25. I only ask because I often find myself in need of meat (oh the joys of living with two grown men who must think I have a slaughterhouse out back).

Re: Fresh and Easy...
They said today they will be phasing out all coupons in circulars by November and everything will be done via email starting December when they will issue a loyalty card, much like other stores.

So, sales this week at most stores look pretty meh. I was hoping for big deals to preceed a strike.

How are you guys feeling about a strike possibility? I remember last time Ralphs was giving away free meat and pumpkins to get people to cross the picket lines...

cjfrugal 08-16-2011 06:53 PM

I worked for Ralphs 15 1/2 yrs and DH worked for them 25 1/2 yrs I hope they do not strike, it's the employees that will be hurt by it not the CEO and the upper management teams.

Agreed. My hub just got screwed by his union, so SINCE he got screwed we have to tighten our belts even further, which hits the grocery budget, which means I am looking for more pre strike deals. Vicious circle.

There LIKELY isn't going to be a strike. I have a friend very close to the negotiations. The union doesn't want to strike as they feel the chains are vulnerable (SuperValu has hinted if there is a strike, they might sell their stores to the other local chains, for one...Albertsons is doing very poorly as it is). Southern California has lost a lot of union market employees since the last strike and would likely lose even more as non-union markets pick off even more unionized markets share of the pie. The original goal was to unionize Fresh and Easy but they've pretty much abandoned that idea now. The odd thing about Southern California, unlike other cities, is there really isn't a dominant grocery chain. Ralphs is tops but when you don't even have 20% of the market, that doesn't say much. The top 3 chains continue to lose market share.

Loyalty card, eh? Emails, eh? Looks like I have to cave & by STUPIDCYAN for my printer now. I agree, sales look zzzzzzzz worthy. Last time I remember there being a strike was a few years ago, right? I think I was in HS because I'd drive by my local Albys and see people crossing the picket line get hounded. Hahahah. If they give away stuff...hey...

cjfrugal 08-17-2011 08:27 AM

the other night 2 Ralphs night managers refused to take any coupon from me or other customers if the coupons scanned "item not found", we all know coupons do not scan 100% of the time so if that is Ralphs new rule they will lose more customers. Night mgrs were stunned when we told them to void items if they weren't going to override coupons- they kept asking "are you sure you don't want these?"

Go ahead and strike especially Vons/Pavilions employees. This time around, you have lot more competition than Staters Bros.

  • Fresh and Easy (Non Existent)
  • Trader's Joe (Has not Expanded yet)
  • 99 Ranch and other Asians (Has Not Expanded Yet)
  • Latino Markets (Has not Expanded Yet)
  • Persian Markets ( Did not exist)
  • Walmart (Limited Groceries)
  • Target (Limited Groceries)

Go ahead and strike, people are less Union Friendly. You will get people crossing the line including me.

Persian markets exist near me. Owners of Valu+ stores are Persian and they have family members that own Persian markets- the produce and fresh herbs are really cheap.

Stand corrected! More competition, less sympathy.

cjfrugal 08-17-2011 10:29 PM

I still feel bad for the people that work in the stores especially when CEOs will still get their million dollars+ bonuses while the people that work in the stores get the shaft

Shout out to my Koreans. And all the super cheap groceries in Korean markets that come from farms in Mexico. Who doesn't love 10/$1 cilantro, green onions, radishes, etc etc? Yum!

cjfrugal 08-18-2011 06:12 AM

I have 2 Korean markets close by also. I love their spicy bean sprouts, spinach salad, spicy tofu and so on

5lb of Garlic (peeled) for as low as $5.99 or 10lb as low as $9.99 (sale)

Our family share it with family and neighbors. If the Big 3 plus Stater Bros sells garlic at $5.99, your lucky to get 8 cloves of garlic. Fruits and veggies get the best price.

cjfrugal 08-18-2011 08:14 AM

I stopped buying spices from Rite Aid (such as Garlic Powder) since they come from China. I will not buy any food from China, period.

I am 58 yrs old I came close to bleeding to death, survived cancer, lost my mom to cancer at age 62, my father died of cancer the next year at 63 so I'm not going to worry about some garlic or other produce from China

Do you not shrimp too? Most of our import is from Vietnamese shrimp farms. Their food standards aren't the greatest either. No bananas from Ecuador? Onions from Mexico? it's 2011. We live in a global economy. But if you're deathly afraid I guess you can always eat local and go to farmers markets...

GOLDNNDRKNESS 08-18-2011 03:43 PM

goodness. if someone chooses to not eat anything from China, then so be it. there are reasonable causes for concern, and if someone wishes to avoid that, then that's on them. are you going to get mad if someone chooses to eat all organic because of pesticides? I buy local meat and produce. you're gonna tell me i shouldn't? because of my personal decision that *I* made? for ME?

There is Lead scare in China. there was that huge thing with the pet food where animals DIED. I dont blame someone one bit for choosing to not eat anything from China. if you want to eat whatever you want, thats fine. everyone should be able to eat whatever they want, from wherever. c'mon now guys

Mainly from China depending on Korean Market.

I seen form Hondorus, Thailand and Vietnam.

As for Shrimp, in many low price to mid price restaurants, shrimp comes from Vietnam. Panda Express, Rubios, del Taco, TGIF ,etc. These restaurants get it from everywhere depending on market conditions.

Global economy!

Buy It Local,
Remember various veggie and Fruit Scare, Spinach Anyone? Kill how many people? Not everyone has luxury of Local produce.

How about meat? Ever read about the conditions of some of the meat processing plants including Organic, no-hormones, etc.

Organics - What defines true Organic? Quasi-Organic. Who know if it Truly Organic? It hard to grow tons of Organic for all the Wholefoods, Trader Jones, Walmarts, and other markets especially in certain parts of country. In Socalif, it more believable.

We can get Asparagus in socal for as low as 99¢ a bundle. Per a relative, in Mississippi, you lucky to get for $2.99lb on Sale.

Ooops...sorry...you were asking about San Diego!

Rite Aid 8/28.

Buy 3 Trident 'anythings' and 1 Trident Layers. It'll be $4 - $2/3MQ - 50c/1 Trident Layers VV. You pay 50c for 4 packs, and you get back $2UP. :)

Possibility for Free or extremely Cheap Strawberries at Fresh N'Easy.

2 for $3.00 when you buy multiples of 2 Fresh&Easy Strawberries.
You buy 1, $2.49

When you buy 2, $2.49 x 2 = 4.98.
Register will deduct $1.98.

When Strawberries are in markdown section, prices vary per store. You still get the same discount when you buy 2, $1.98.

Yesterday, I found some for 87¢ each. 87¢ x 2 = $1.74 - $1.98 = Negative 24¢

It works for any buy 2 and save items going into Markdown Bin.

Late night grocery worker strike alert!

Grocery workers voted to reject the contract according to the OC Register. Looks like there will be a strike.

No, workers just authorized the union to strike. The union has asked for more negotiations. So we'll see.
We are having a BBQ on Labor Day, so shopping for it may get interesting.

The union is not going to strike. Don't expect any extra special deals or food disruptions. Note that Ralphs isn't even doing the normal response which is to accept applications for temp. workers. Vons and Albertsons are but it means nothing. This is all about rattling the cage...

CVS Scan Right Guarantee program - Up to $2 off item

CVS has settled a lawsuit brought by the counties of Los Angeles, Riverside and Ventura. For 3 years, it is stipulated that it must give up to $2 off an item that scans an incorrect price, either advertised or shelf price. If the price is less than $2, the item will be free. Over $2, then $2 additional will be deducted after a price adjustment to the correct price. The program must start within 90 days of the final judgement which was entered late last week.

Awesome! Albies has always been my #3 store but they're coming up in my ranking over the last few weeks! Especially after my Pavilions pulled the 'we can only accept 3 like coupons' on me the other night. Ridiculous!

There is no specific Ralphs, Vons/Pavilions, or Albertsons or any other Southern California supermarket specific thread. There is not enough activity for a specific thread! So, we have a general Southern California only thread for everything Southern California.
In SoCalifornia, all of us either work, go to school, or raise a family include combination of 3 and more to spend more maybe 2 hours max to theses thread.

Krogers thread is a great thread for Krogers family including Ralphs. They do share many similar sales.

There are blogs dedicated to Ralphs, Vons/Pavilions, Albertsons, Stater Bros, etc.

These blogs do mention this thread on occasion especially Chief Family Officer (Ralphs).

I have found it at a couple of Ralphs in my area. It is kind of hard to spot. There is usually only one shelf facing of it and it is near the top of the pasta shelves.

Hi all,
Been working very late so have been slacking on my deal finding. I have to get canned Cokes for a co-workers 25th anniversary party. Are there any good deals on Coke or Coke products right now?

Although the $26 isn't nearly as good as the $10, it is still a decent price at $.50 a week.

I dont presently have an acct with LA Times, I just cancelled my 2c subscription with Register as the hike that register was going to charge was insane and Id much rather get times.

I'll just be patient for a deal thats suitable.

Why don't you call Register and tell them you can get LA Times weekend plus (Thurs - Sun) for $26 a year? That is the rate I am paying. They will match it

Speaking of the LA times, one of my papers was missing the RP so I've called 5 times since Sunday and spoken to two managers and no one can understand to redeliver one Sunday paper. Supposively, I will get one tomorrow but Im not holding my breath...

I have 2 subscriptions, and for the past 2 weeks, 1 paper has always been missing one insert. I have no idea why... And the Parade has been different, one comes with more Qs than the other. If you're up when you get the paper, you can call them and ask for them to redeliver it and it should get there within an hour or so. A long time ago, I tried explaining that the inserts were missing, and they just got really confused and said they had no idea what I was talking about. Now, I just say that my paper was missing something and I need it redelivered, and they send it out. I've gotten a paper redelivered on a Monday once, with the inserts. After that, they say the redelivery won't come with inserts... Weird. Good luck!

YMMV on that one. one sunday, i didn't get any of my newspapers ( i get 3 papers/sunday) and i called them to redeliver, they said about 90 mins, so I decided to stay home and do some chores before i went out and did my couponing/errands, well 2 hours later I call back asking when they would be delivered, since they said 90 mins, and the lady said "well, thats just an estimate, it can be longer than that". and i told her, thats fine, but that if they cant give an accurate amount of time, and it can be "anytime" then they really shouldnt be quoting a time if they cant stand by what they say! I asked her (and i called about 8am sunday morning) will they be there TODAY and she said yes. NOT. They came the next following morning. I was more upset that they told me something, and it was not true. I still get upset talking about it:lol:

I've called 5 times asking for a redeliver. I've done it before with no issues before and for some reason everyone is STUPID down there that I have spoken to including the supervisors. well shall see if tomorrow is a whole new set of stupid.

ETA: Paper got redelivered today, FINALLY! WOOO HOOOOOOOO

Heads Up: FREE 1/4 lb. Sara Lee Deli Meat OR Cheese coupons @ Vons! I saw one display (freestanding on the deli counter about 14"high) @ the Vons in Northridge and one here in WLA @ Von's on National.
But GOOD LUCK trying to use them there.
Northridge had NO meat or cheese.
Vons on National had 2 varieties of Turkey so I got a total of 3 1/4lb packages, around $2.50 each, (coupon limit). (They have been VERY obnoxious in the past about honoring more than 3 coupons)
I go to check out and it's a guy who is wearing a "Supervisor" badge. Fine.
I have 4 coupons TOTAL. 3 for the meat, one for Dryers that is in the AD and I ripped it out.
I bought 7 things: 3 packages of meat, 1 Dryers, fresh corn, lemonade, deli fried chicken.
So, he goes to scan the Dreyers one. It only scans for 1 cent. I call this to his attention.
HE says "Well, maybe we can't honor it." I show him where I ripped it out of the ad.
He says "You didn't buy Dryers". I point to it on the counter.
He says "Well, maybe its not good on the variety you bought.
I point to the picture of the exact item on the coupon. He rolls his eyes and says "Seventy Cents" and punches that in.
So, he next takes the Sara Lee coupons.
The first one beeps and he hands it back to me saying "We don't take these".
I told him I got it off his Deli Counter. He scans it again, it beeps. He reads it.
He says "Oh, see this is not cheese." I said "Yes, it's meat".
HE says, this is only good for cheese."
I show him where it says MEAT OR CHEESE (in red, all caps on the coupon".
HE then says, "It's not deli meat", It is in the bags from the deli, I point that out.
He then says, "It's not Sarah Lee". I point out the label on the meat "SARAH LEE TURKEY".
At this point I am looking for hidden cameras thinking I am being punked. Really.
Finally he sighs, hands all 3 coupons back to me and says, I kid you not, "Well, maybe they don't consider Turkey "meat".
I asked him to punch the coupon amount in manually as some time deli coupons for variable weight items beep. Again, he does it, reluctantly. Money comes off.
I almost burst into tears. He made me feel like a felon. Not to mention the glares from those in line.
When I got home, I called the Von's 800 number to complain and they said I would have to be referred to the store manager.
When I told them it LIKELY WAS the manager, they said that is all they could do.
Eff Vons.
CalItalian, I know you are a westsider. Do you have trouble here? Where do you go? I am really upset and don't want to ever go there again. Bah.
FWIW, I looked nice today too! AND was nice and happy I promise, no attitude from me. WTH???

A few weeks ago, I didn't get my ad section and called to get a redeliver. Of course, it never came so I called again Monday morning and the redeliver never came either. Tuesday, I called again, nope, it never came. I finally called late at night and there was some automated recording (no actual people to talk to) and it said something like were you missing a major section of your paper and I hit yes. I finally had a paper the next day.

Oh! I was JUST there.....didn't check the deli. Bummer.

I was sad that I missed the coupon til I read your post. I SOOOOOOOOOOOO feel your pain and I likewise HATE Vons! My couponing experiences there have been horrible!!! (To say the least). I have completely avoided the store due to how nasty the employees and managers are. They are truly awful, in the experiences that I have had.

I ONLY go when there is an unbeatable deal, which is not often. Then when I do go, I regret that I even tried. Terrible.

Sorry for your bad time there. Your story would be funny if I didn't know how awful that feels.

Oh boy. Sounds like the typical cashier "I don't want to do my job with these Qs" attitude. Ugh.

I'll be on the lookout for those Qs then!

We get 10 LA Times and for the past 2 weeks 2 papers each week were missing inserts.
First week asked for re-delivery, never happened. Second week just asked for credit on missed papers.

good luck next time. I find calling the 1800 number does nothing, because "it is up to the store manager to accept or deny valid coupons" (i hate that line!)

Great! Thank you, Amber I will keep it in my files. Repped ya! I FINALLY got the missing inserts redelivered today. I don't know where the communication lapsed but I even spoke with two supervisors. Thanks, again! I am loving the LA Times again, LOL. I got my neighbors to buy multiples of the papers as well so I'm sure the delivery guy is like WTF is going on with this street. :)

Hi All! There were a couple great coupons in the mail in OC this week! Yesterday in the blue Valpak envelope there was a coupon good at CVS on Culver Dr. in Irvine (by the 5 fwy) for a free digital thermometer. It says just to take the coupon to the CVS Minute Clinic (when it's open) & they will give it to you for free. I picked up two for free tonight (for my kidlet & I) and they are very nice. The coupon does say for the first 100 people, but I think it's just until their stock is gone. They didn't require a CVS card or ID. No purchase necessary.

The other great coupon this week in the snail mail was a $10 off $10 at Kohl's. I found 11 coupons in the junk mail bin plus mine! I'm so happy to have $120 free Kohl's money to spend this weekend!

I forgot to check to see if it was mentioned in this thread, but Ralph's has a new Spin to Win game that gives free cash (on your Ralph's card) if you win. I won $4 & $1 and used it for 2 bags of free chips tonight & paid zero! Good luck everyone!

Paid $9.96 and got back TWO $2 catalinas! $5.96 for 4 large mayos is not bad with no coupons used. I think there are some available online though. Life time supply of Mayo now!

And NO Frustrating scenarios to fluster the grumpy Vons cashiers.

I forgot to check to see if it was mentioned in this thread, but Ralph's has a new Spin to Win game that gives free cash (on your Ralph's card) if you win. I won $4 & $1 and used it for 2 bags of free chips tonight & paid zero! Good luck everyone!

That Kohls coupon almost makes me want to dig thru our dumpsters. Almost. Can you post a pic so I know what I am looking for?

Thanks!

ISO cheap school uniforms

Does anyone know of any stores in the SFV that sell inexpensive school uniforms in small adult sizes (not kids sizes) that have fitting rooms? Some of the discount stores I've been to don't have fitting rooms and don't give you refunds. My daughter wears a junior size and her Middle School requires uniforms. One store wanted $20 for Dickies pants. Jeez... TIA. Sorry for the OT.

have you tried old navy? I don't know what size she wears but I think they go to like size 20 or 22.

Heres food for thought but the Ralphs Qs that we get with the points in the mail ... (500pts get $5)... Since Ralphs has switched a lot of the Qs to Manufacture Qs, take em now to Walmart who will take competitor Qs as long as it says MQ, mailing addy, and expiration date. Lots of em have long exp dates. HTH

PS maybe Ralphs will switch it back so you can get ur MQ & store Q but heres to your benefit.

Hi! Sorry I didn't see your post until now. I was on the freeway all day yesterday trying to get home and avoid the fire on the 15. The traffic was awful but I had fun Kohl's hopping. Unfortunately I used all the 10 off 10 yesterday so I don't have a pic. I do know that it was a single cardstock half size sheet that was light blue on the gift card side where they scan it. The light blue was pretty distinctive and it's what I looked for when coupon hunting. It also said $10 pretty big. The other side was just a Kohl's ad but also mentioned the $10 gift card. Good luck!

I buy at Fallas Paredes. I see there's one in Van Nuys. They don't have a dressing room at the one I go to, but it may be worth checking out for you...their pants are $9.99. Shirts are $3.99-$5.99. I can't remember exactly their refund policy, but maybe you could call them to find out before you go.

Thanks. I've been there. Uniforms are only small kids sizes. DD is about a size 5 junior. No fitting rooms and gift card for refund only sometimes. Many items final sale, no refund. I've bought underwear there for DH though. 3 pack of Fruit of the Loom T-shirts 4.99. Good deal for you, Calitalian when you're in the valley. Cheaper than Macy's even with coupon discounts.

Try Target and Walmart. I've seen low cost white shirts and tan and blue pants specifically for school uniforms. HTH!

The power was out for over 8 hours yesterday at the Ralphs and CVS on Mission Center Rd. at Friars. I asked at ralphs if they had to throw out all the dairy, frozen food etc., I was told no, everything is fine because they put it all on dry ice. I think I'll avoid buying cold things there for a week or so anyway.

jadenchick 09-05-2011 03:38 PM

Try Vanity Fair outlets, they have uniforms as well.

Try a Goodwill or Salvation Army or other like type store. I am sure not all of them have dressing rooms, but some might. Those outgrown uniforms have to go somewhere.
