Seems to be the same as this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Pro...6882850010
Good reviews, but doesn't say up to which version of the HDMI spec it supports...

Speed is listed at 10.2gb/s so the cables are either v. 1.3 or 1.4...

Well, the 10.2 Gbit would imply a 1.3 spec. If it were 1.4, they wouldnt hide the fact.

NoDealsHere 11-26-2012 09:14 AM

This cannot display 3D.

McNutsack 11-26-2012 09:17 AM

Buying it even though I'm using it on a 3d tv.
Too good to pass up - these make ok "whenever time" gifts. I hand people a spare HDMI cord when I notice they need one, and they get super excited, wondering why I dont need/want it/can afford to just hand it out

You'd be surprised how much the average Joe thinks these things cost ;)

I received this same cable with a recent purchase of a IOgear USB to HDMI converter. Cheap, as in the wire might be 32 AWG gauge. For me, I'll give this away to someone who needs it.

Personally, I stick with a cable that has at least conductors that are 24 or 26 AWG. Actually, just looked at the last HDMI cables I purchased from Monoprice and the gauge is 24AWG. I still do the occasional Home Theater install and these are the ones I use.

3ft 24AWG CL2 High Speed HDMI® Cable w/ Net Jacket - Black [monoprice.com]

If you can only afford a $1 for an HDMI cable, buy these. Otherwise, look at Monoprice.

I have a year old Panny Plasma 1080p TV and a XBox 360 and PS3. Will I see a difference in these compared to the $1 ones?

You will see no difference. Having a thinner cable doesn't matter when it's only 6 ft long. Biggest risk you'll have is the cord getting clipped somehow, but if your device is always plugged in and stays put then you'll never even notice

steveliv 11-26-2012 09:42 AM

these are the same cables that newegg sells. they support 3D and ARC. I've used them with no issues.

My parents got swindled by H. H. Gregg a few days ago and bought a $40 HMDI cable with their new TV. Thank you OP for this! Have already went and returned their $40 3' cable yesterday. This is perfect!

Deal went dead like 2 minutes after I completed my order, looks like I got the last four

Couldn't find my spare HDMI cables when I needed one yesterday, so these will come in handy. Not expecting the latest and greatest for a dollar each, and I bought four expecting one or two will fail eventually, but I'm sure they'll suffice to hook my Xbox and PS3 up in the bedroom.

you did not get the last ones for sure ;)
2 mins between when you bought and when it sold out = 2K sold :-)

doug2060 11-26-2012 10:08 AM

When I bought mine before posting this deal there were only 240 sold. 4,385 and sold out now. That was fast!

cdryuncle 11-26-2012 10:10 AM

I've never had any problem with getting other $1 hdmi cables in ebay and must have bought a half dozen

wptest 11-26-2012 10:14 AM

I'd suggest that we start adding the gauge of HDMI cables to SD listings?

I just bought a set of low cost cables for a new switcher only to find out that they were too thin to work with the switcher. I had to repurchase heavier duty HDMI cables to make it work.

BosuxRedsux 11-26-2012 10:14 AM

one can never have enuf of these. One was removed from my mom's room. Had to replace it. Hope this wont be taken as well.

Maybe, maybe not. Seem to be a lot of reviews from Newegg on this cable where people have problems like this;

"Pros: Good. Cheap. Works.

Cons: Could be my system, but when hooking up to my DVI adapter for my monitor, the screen blacks out from time to time. A little annoying, but for the cheap price, I can't complain too much."

Or this;

"Pros: I would say the price but you get what you pay for *see cons*

Cons: Well as soon as I tried to plug it into my video card the gold piece broke and was pushed back into the shielding. For what I paid for I wasn't expecting much out of it but for it to just break sliding it into a HDMI port was bad.

Other Thoughts: Do yourself a favor and get a more expensive brand so you don't have to deal with the headache that comes with this one."

Monoprice cables are not expensive and they work with out issue, period.

Smaller 28AWG gauge wire but should be fine. Also noticed that the one you linked to is 6' long. Its always a good idea to go with the length you need. I couldn't tell you how many times I've seen people with extra length of wire in a big mess behind their equipment. Buy what you need and organize it. Use wire ties or better use Velcro Reusable Ties [amazon.com].

You might want to read the reviews on Newegg as a lot of people complain they will NOT work with 3D.

In short, why would you spend $1 for a cable that connects 2 $$$$$ of equipment together? Buy something decent, put it together and be done with it.

This is exactly what I'm talking about. Wasted time and aggravation.

Take a look at the longer HDMI cables at Monoprice. The 25' long cables are 22 or 24 AWG wire. I bought 1 of the 25' cables from Meritline for $4.99 and did a Mono to Merit comparison. The Merit cable kept losing and reacquiring the signal. The Mono cable worked without 1 problem, still does as I'm still using it. I threw the Meritline cable in the garbage. Not even worth the time to cut it down to a smaller length for a future project.

I use monoprice cables, i use these. they work. at what price point does a cable become decent? if the $1 cables work as well as the $8 cables and those work as well as the more expensive ones, why should i pay more? for runs that only need 6 feet or less these work just fine. i've watched 3d movies with these cables, i've used the ARC feature on my receiver and these work fine. i don't rely on newegg review 100%. for all we know., some of those reviewers could be thinking that the cables themselves make things 3d.

Dill-Ag13 11-26-2012 02:04 PM

They have 3' $1 cables here:

Linkie [newegg.com]

krazyshopper 01-13-2013 05:49 PM

I got this and it didn't work. So I had to get another one. This time I spent 20.
