If you don't have a Discover card, you can knock a little more off the price by using Dell's gift card promo... http://content.dell.com/us/en/hom...rd-us.aspx You can combine one $400 gift card and one $75 promo gift card. Or, if your tax is $75 or greater, you can use two $400 GC's and one $75 promo card. The only limit is on the number of promo gift cards you can use per order, which is one. |
Gettin closer....I'm gonna go home and measure tonight just to make sure one of these will fit in my basement. I hope $699 is around the corner
|
Beautiful television. Only con's I can imagine would be no 3dtv and only 2 hdmi ports. If you're buying this television without a receiver with hdmi ports you probably don't care that it has only 2 and 3dtv is a joke.
Great deal - thanks! |

BTW, I'm picking one of these up on Friday if the price stays the same. I've been limping along on an aging mitsubishi 62725 TV circa 2004ish. The green push is starting to show which means I have some caps getting bad. This should be a nice upgrade, and I'll get a 4 year square trade warranty also for an additional $145.99. That comes with in home repair/replacement up to $999.00
|
Have this TV. Love it. Don't know about the stock speakers because I never have/never would use them. Why have a huge HD TV and then send your sound through garbage speakers? Never understood that.
Anyway, my only caution would be this TV does not do well in very bright rooms. The screen easily washes out, especially at certain angles. |
If you have Discover, you can use Shop Discover through Dell for 10% Cash Back and then the 5% cash back online. Making this 15% Cash Back.
|
Dont forget the Dell gift cards. For every purchase $400 in GC you receive a $75 GC. They also have the 82 inch version of this TV for 1299.

Wow... so correct me if I'm wrong here Thats $120 cash back via shop discover and $150 in gift cards to dell? If you count both of those this tv is $530+ tax delivered? Yeah, I'm buying this. |
Quote:
It looks like it will be. $800 - $120 (Discover Cash back - 10% + 5%) - $75 (Dell Gift Card) = $605.00 Damn good deal. |

However, I just looked on Dells site and the promotional gift card cannot be combined with another Gift Card. Therefore, that won't work. But still using Shop Discover, you get $120 Cash back making the TV, $680 with FS. Still a GREAT PRICE. |
how fast do you get the $75 if you buy the $400 ecard?
edit: just saw that they might not work together. |
Quote:
Could always sell the promotional Giftcard for $65 or whatever they'd go for on ebay if you wanted to. Was holding out for $699, so $680 is still adequate...and a $75 GC to boot... |
You can use the $75 promo card along with the $400 gift card. However you can not combine the 2 in the sense of calling up Dell and asking for a $475 GC for the 2. This prevents people from buying say 3 gift cards for $400 each = $1200 and then also getting 3 Free $75 promo cards =$225 and then combining them for $1425. You can combine the 3 GC making it a $1200 GC and use a (1)$75 promo for a purchase.

Okay so what is the correct method of doing this?
Do you/ can you use shop discover on the gift card? or just buy it outright, then use shop discover on the TV combined with the gift card(s) I don't have a discover card, but my girlfriend does.....and I'll just make her let me use hers. It's time for me to freaking apply for one and tell my Visa to suck it. /e and does anyone know when this is valid until? Or how long a deal like this typically lasts? |
I just purchased this and I used 3 Gift Cards 2*400 + 1*75 (taxes). With Free Shipping worked out as a good deal. Plus added Discover. To use multiple cards you need to call Dell. Waited about 20 min before speaking to someone.
|
Yeah how quickly do you get the $400 gc?

Also, I just checked on the ShopDiscover website. The 10%+5% does not work towards gift certificates.
I also just spoke with a Dell Customer rep and she said that the giftcards cannot be used together. Bummer. Looks like the best deal is ShopDiscover. |
Quote:
Combine the Two 400 gift cards to make it 800 + tax. Sell the 2 75 gift cards on sites like plasticjungle.com for about 60 bucks. You minus about 120 bucks off total for around 680 + tax. |
Giftcards can be used together, you just CANNOT do it online. Therefore you will have to pay by phone if you are planning to use both GC. So probably the best option is Shopdiscover + $75 GC and pay online with Discover, then find something else to buy later with that $400 GC since that one doesn't expire.
|
So, overall is this TV worth $680-$700?

anyone willing to report purchasing a $400 egift card and seeing if you can successfully apply both the $400 ecard and the $75 promo ecard on the purchase?
If it works, i'm buying and I believe this would be frontpage worthy |

But while I doubt it'll hit $699 again, it might. $800 for the set is still pretty darn good when you consider the cost per square inch. I paid $900 for my 73" and love it. But I remember the BB deal specifically because I bought the set for $900 and then BB listed it for $699 the next day and by the time I got my order @$900 cancelled, BB was out of stock. I think the primary thing at work here is BB's cash flow. When they're in need of some, they dump items at a ridiculous price. |

Are the gift cards just codes? Do they physically send you a card? Both? How fast do you get them after ordering?
anyone know? |

If anyone is interested, I will give you $60 for the $75 GiftCard. PM me. I can Paypal the money. This way, you won't have to be worried about using two codes online.
|
You have to call in and that is the only way I know how to combine the gift cards. Took about 20 minutes on hold.
|
I see discussions about the GC's and the deal, but I haven't seen anything about the quality of the TV. Does this TV's screen fades out after a few years, like DLP's in the early and mid 2000s? I had an old DLP, and the brightness and colors fade out after using it for about 3 years or so. Does this TV suffer the same issue?

Does anyone know how the picture compares to the new LED's that are on the market?

Ugh, I have the TV in my cart but can't decide if I should pull the trigger. Most reviews that i have read are favorable and to get this TV for $680 plus seems like a steal.

It would end up being like $730 after tax by me, and I'd probably want to add a square trade. It's still a lot of tv for the money.... Stupid part is that I was willing to drop the $688 in a heartbeat for the vizio on BF and got too drunk to go. Woulda actually been more than this.... |

I was planning on going the ShopDiscover route. |
the non-existant 3d emitter port kills it for me
|
Anyone else with a review or input?

Thanks

1) Go to Discover.Com 2) Login 3) Click "Cashback Bonus" dropdown 4) Click 5% Cashback Bonus Program 5) Sign up for the promotion from October-December. (This is for the original 5%) 6) Select "Cashback Bonus" dropdown again and click "ShopDiscover" 7) Click "Select a Retailer" and click "Dell" 8) This will then allow you to shop through the Dell site with the additional 10% off. Hope this helps! |

I pulled the trigger. It is $870ish before cash back, so even with only 10%, it would be under $800.00

someone help me, I have 73c11 from last year later I bought poineer vsx 1121-k with 5.0 JBL home theater system, I wanted to know how the audio from TV pass back thru home theater when I am just watching TV (I don't have dish or anything that sort, I am just using antenna over the air HD and non HD channels), I talked to Mits customer care they said i have to buy a audio cable to pass the audio back to 1121-k, i am really not sure what the cable would be? can someone tell me? please let me know if i am not clear.
I also have nsz-gt1 connected to 1121-k which connected to TV, i can able to get the audio on my speakers, but when i try to watch tv thru antenna, i can't hear the audio on my home theater, audio just coming from TV speakers |

How do they make any money with free shipping? This thing must cost a fortune to ship.
|
This is an awesome DLP especially if you use Discover. I got inpatient and found one locally on BF for $799, guess I should have waited a week could have saved a lot. I would prefer the 700 series model but for this price you can't go wrong. Picture and black levels are great.
|
Did they stop the GC promo? The only promo I see is the $10 bonus from coinstar.
|
C series? what's the difference with other series??

can this thing be mounted to a wall?

Adding a little more to this thread. I checked today and the TV is being sent from DFW to MCI, so its flying from Dallas to Kansas City. Then it will be put on a truck on its way to the Topeka area. Imagine if we had to pay for shipping directly as opposed to having it built into the cost.

I have a 50" panasonic plasma set couple years old and wanted to see how far the DLP tech came along.
I was dissapointed in the following areas: - PQ was dull and poor - further from the center of the screen became darker and darker - forget about putting the tv anywhere near a window or lit area, reflects everything - I the bowing effect If your trying to decide between say a 60" panny plasma vs this 73" Mitsu DLP for ~$800 price point, I highly suggest going with the 60" panny plasma. the only thing going for the DLP is the size. |
Quote:
And it is ALOT bigger. 60" vs. 73" Screen Comparison. [displaywars.com] I actually canceled my Panasonic.com plasma order and decided to go back to DLP. I couldn't deal with going smaller than what I had. I have also seen alot of complaints about image retention with Panasonic Plasmas this year, although some people are saying that they don't have a problem with it. Some also are complaining about line bleed being pretty noticeable on the 60u50. |
Does anyone know if the AMEX promotion will work with this?
http://slickdeals.net/permadeal/8...m-dell.com |
I have this TV in my living room, satisfied but I now want to pawn it off and get that 92"
To think about how shock and awed i was when I saw how big 73" was in my living room, imagine 92"..lol |
I've been on the fence about this for days....Someone convince me to buy it.
Shopdiscover still works right???? |
Quote:
I don't have a Discover card so I don't know about Shopdiscover but I went through m r r e b a t e s and got $40 cashback so it will be a tiny bit over $800 after taxes. |

So I'm pretty tempted by this TV after selling my old plasma. I'd like to do this little Shopdiscover deal I've heard talk about, but I don't have a Discover card (can't apply for one either due to lack of credit), however I know someone with a Discover card. Would it be possible to log into Shopdiscover with his login, but PAY for the giftcards with my own debit card?

Got it.
ISO a cheap TV stand for it now because I'm poor. /e Pissed I missed out on the Onkyo reciever for $100. |
Just saw this on AVSForums. Mitsubishi Drops DLP Displays: Goodbye RPTVs Forever [cepro.com]
Mine just shipped today, is it smart to buy something that is being discontinued? I wonder if the price of bulbs will go up b/c of this. |

Quote:
Either that or be dirt cheap.... Does the squaretrade cover bulbs? If so I'll just complain every year that the bulb burnt out and have them send me a new one and keep em in the closet. |
Quote:
I wonder if the DLPs prices are going to drop even more now that they are being discontinued. Am I going to feel like I got ripped off paying $800 in a month or so when they are going for $500 or something? |
Quote:
yeah I'm good.... |

I'll just craigslist this for similar price if I decide I want to upgrade |
I sold my 65C9 for $500, but I sold it with an extra bulb from Mitsubishi. So yeah, you probably won't lose too much money if you want to sell it in a few years.
|
TV is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow. I called to verify with the freight company. WOO HOO, present waiting for me after work tomorrow.
|
Mine is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow as well. Hopefully bulb prices will go down. Cheapest I see on Amazon right now is about $80. I can get a bulb for my 60c9 for $36. Its always good to have some back ups on standby.
|
Just arrived. Time to unbox it.

Price up to $1200 now. Missed it again.....
|
I bought one of these 5 years ago for 3000.00! Can't believe the price now. Great TV, love it!!
|
Mine finally came today. Can't wait to unbox it and get it set up when I get home. I tried to trade in the $75 giftcard on those gift card exchange sites, but it said it only took plastic cards from Dell, no electronic promo codes.
|
Set mine up....jesus christ
I need good settings to watch sports on....any thoughts? |
I was thinking of returning this TV so I called Dell to setup a return and they gave me an extra $60 off to not return it. combine with my 10% discover card deal makes this around $700.00.
