Thanks, I updated the OP title :)

mikeyiscool 11-28-2012 09:49 AM

this is only $12 regular price, don't go in thinking you're getting a steal.

FUNKYCHICKEN 11-28-2012 09:51 AM

I am using them as stocking stuffers.

uniqueflips 11-28-2012 09:57 AM

Isn't this typically on sale for $5.99 or $6.99 at Menards every few weeks?

sylvryd 11-28-2012 10:03 AM

Got one... but I don't have a bike... darn you slickdeals for spending my money for me :shake:

RugerRedhawk 11-28-2012 10:15 AM

Neat if you have tall ceilings. I just use hooks and hang it by the wheels personally.

It hasn't been that price in a while, but that's where/what I bought mine at (early spring).

slepac 11-28-2012 10:26 AM

All right, who of the mods is a biker?
This stuff constantly makes front page even though the deals are never particularly special......

LLcj 11-28-2012 10:29 AM

I use the Racor version and love it. I have two and use them a lot. love this product:

The nice thing about these, or at least my thought was, with this my wife could put the bikes up too....hasn't panned out so far.

nerofive5 11-28-2012 10:31 AM

Anyone know of any good deals on a wall mount for a hitch rack?

I'm going to need something to hang bikes soon, but this doesn't look too sturdy. I think I may follow your lead and use some hooks. I keep picturing the seat or handlebars coming loose from this mount and costing me a windshield.

I belive your link is for a 2-pack of the same thing. The link OP posted has a rather misleading description on Amazon's site for the product. In one place it says 55lb, in another it says 100lb. Either way, I've never owned a bike that wieghed in anywhere near 50lb.

I agree. I love slickdeals and I love cycling, but this has to be one of the most unnecessarily overposted FP deals. Look, can we all just accept that these hoists are <$10 for their regular price?

Go to harbor freight right now.. $7.99 in store and on their site.

Better yet, don't buy one. I can tell you as someone who owns many bikes that a simple hook to hang your front wheel ($2-3 at a hardware store) is far easier and quicker to deal with. These are finicky and often the hooks slip off the front or rear. Not something you want to deal with on a more regular basis than hanging the bikes up for the winter months.

RiggsIsMoney 11-28-2012 10:46 AM

I was actually going to buy these, but I found this instead, it is worth a look (although it is not on the same price level).

Here's a tip for those of you with car roof boxes: these ceiling hoists are a cheap and effective way to store your roof box out of the way during the months you don't use it. It's much cheaper than the ceiling storage solution that Thule sells for over 100 bucks. Just buy a set of these hoists and these Masterlock straps:

http://www.amazon.com/Master-Lock...lock+strap

Wrap a strap around each end of your roof box, hook each strap to the Racor hook, and hoist away.

pepepeter 11-28-2012 11:08 AM

anyone use these to store/lift a kayak?

huewang 11-28-2012 11:14 AM

good deal if you have a harbor freight near you, but shipping is $7, which sort of kills the deal.

Never liked hanging my MTB with its RockShox Reba XX front fork off a single hook like that. Something about the fork being designed for constant positive pressure rather than constant negative pressure. I don't have any studies to show whether this fear is founded or not, but it just doesn't feel right.

So, for my MTB I use one of these with great success. Road bike, however, hangs from a hook.

Mummel 11-28-2012 11:18 AM

Why TF is this FP? Check Camel. Has been this price for a while.

enklined 11-28-2012 11:27 AM

Blah blah, FP or not, not sure what all the fuss is about. Thanks OP, in for 2!

NicholasJ 11-28-2012 12:28 PM

FYI.. I bought these a couple weeks ago. Depending on how your seat and handles bars are.. this may or may not work for you. I have a 2011 Trek with an after market seat.. and when you try to place the hooks under the seat and handle bars to lift it.. they slip out. I had to use bungee cords to keep them in place.. so it works.. but this isnt as convenient as you think.. its also a mild pain to install.

Im looking for a trailer hitch wall mount. so I can store both my bike and my rack (when not attached to my vechicle) I actually made a thread inquiring about it with an example of a cheap (and probably crappy) mount

If you have a mountain bike with a front suspension fork that uses oil it is not recommended to hang your bike upside down as the oil can leak out the top of the fork, so these come in handy for those bikes.

Enviroguy 11-28-2012 01:02 PM

Okay,

I now see that this was no bargain. But I actually needed on of these and I was buying a bunch of iPod/iPhone cords and adapters from Amazon anyway. So shipping was free and there was no tax.
So I'm proud to say I'm in for 1. ;)

kewwlkat123 11-28-2012 01:54 PM

Maybe I can install this to store all of the useless things I have purchased hanging them all in my garage as a reminder... why do I purchase things I do not need...
