I know it's on Netflix....but I have to watch this show in high-def, and our Netflix always has ugly banding and glitches and loading issues (no, we have good internet access!). For $60, I'm in. Thanks for posting! Rep'd +4, thought the wife will hate me for it!

On Netflix, it is in HD... I am halfway thru the entire series, and have been watching it in HD, with 5.1 audio too. At first is starts in SD, and about 30 seconds later you will see it switch over to HD/5.1 audio. Working on both my xbox 360 and my WD TV player netflix apps.

True, I have done the same. Still I doubt Netflix is pushing out Blu-ray quality video and sound. I love the series and may have to jump on this.

No, you're right, it's available in HD. But for some reason, my connection always downgrades us and glitches. I have Comcast and generally get a good connection, so I'm OK with paying $60 to be HD and glitch-free whenever I want, on any TV I want (with BluRay, of course!) :)

I used to have problems with Netflix HD streaming but everything's been fine his past year. I've discovered im far too lazy to get up to place a blu ray in my ps3 so I'm purely streaming these days regardless of how cheap blu rays are getting. For non lazy folks though this is a good price for an excellent series, yes even S4.

I agree with some that say they have problems with HD Netflix. I seem to get better quality with Amazon and Hulu, not sure why... just do.

Sorry, but "streaming hd" does not compare the quality you get from bluray. Heck even time warner HD looks like crap in motion sequences. It's because they have to compress it.

You could stick your Blu Rays on a NAS device and then access them using a HTPC or other such device. The quality of Blu Ray paired with the laziness-enabling availability of streaming... the best of both worlds! :D

For those wondering if worth buying, nothing is ever guaranteed to stay on streaming services, and the commentary tracks, at least for the first season, are pretty amazing.

if I remember right visa signature cards do not incur foreign exchange fees as one of their benefits (my chase freedom and chase sapphire are visa signature)

I do know that when I first start to watch something on Netflix the quality is pretty poor, but after a few seconds the quality does get better. Amazon and Hulu seem to give you the full HD quality right away.

Not sure if this will help, but I noticed that there is a setting to change the quality of your Netflix streaming.

yes, should be able to play in PS3 with no problem. I have not found the same product in Amazon or online (in US) either... seems a unique product just made for EU maybe... :P

I have both a PS3 and this set, and can happily confirm that indeed, it does play fine on my PS3. It's worth every penny; I bought it for about $25USD more a year ago, and as far as I know, this is the cheapest this entire set has ever been made available.

Also, for what it's worth, the packaging is pretty compact for how many discs are available.

Just want to add, FFS stop comparing streaming HD off netflix, amazon, etc to blu-ray. Streaming HD off netflix, amazon, etc isn't even as high as the HD quality of your over the air local news let alone blu-ray quality HD. I've had netflix and amazon for years, have a 25/25 connection which is far faster that 99% of US residents so have personal experience with the lower quality HD and you can google stream rates for the various services if you want to verify that they don't even match up to local news channels. There is absolutely no comparison you're basically telling people "you can get the DVD's for cheaper" because any new dvd player is going to upconvert so it's the same as blu ray right?

It's because you have Comcast, not meaning to be offensive but you should look into the practices of companies you deal with before paying for their service. Comcast is hugely against internet freedom and feels it's their right as a company to throttle your speeds or completely block sites they don't want you using. Their contract regardless of what speeds are listed on the plan you purchased only guarantees 3/1 so you may have shelled out tons of extra money for their high end package but they're still only guaranteeing that you'll get at least the lowest speed that they offer. Sometimes you'll get the lower speed strictly because of network problems but it's generally because they're throttling it based on the amount of data you're using or the site you're accessing.

I don't know for certain but going off the answer I've seen in all the previous deals I'm going to say it does not include the webisodes because I think it's the exact same set that's been offered before which did not include the webisodes.

Damn, if only I hadn't bought the DVD sets as they came out a couple of years ago!

I buy DVD's and Blu-Rays from Amazon.co.uk all the time. They are consistently way cheaper for anything. Most of the blu-rays are Region free which means you can play them on your US blu-ray player. They usually tell you if they aren't.

Lately when I order them, they ship a boatload of DVD's and CD's to Amazon US, and then Amazon US sends them out from there. At least that's what I've noticed recently,

Besides being cheaper, you can get a lot of the UK shows which I love faster; sometimes the DVD/Blu-Ray comes out before they even broadcast the show in the US.

When you go to pay, you can choose if you want to pay in US currency or UK. I prefer the UK, cause I use a BA Chase card and they have no currency conversion. However, the US currency choice they give you is only a dollar or two higher.

LOL'Z at those who have not finished thw whole series. I too was thinking it was one of the best Sci-Fi shows ever, but then I fiinished the series. Upon finishing the series, I don't ever want to watch it again. I won't spoil the ending by telling what happens, but, it could not have been more lame. A complete waste of my time watching the series. JR waking up only to find the whole series was just a dream would have been better. :lol: Wish I could undo it, but its too late for me. it was not that bad. It was no where near as bad as the ending to mass effect 3, which probably goes down as worst ending to anything ever in all history.

But seriously, BSG's ending was HORRIBLE!

I dont want to write spoilers but I liked some of the finale episode, but the ultimate conclusion was super dumb. It's because they Twin Peaked their way thru 3 seasons then were like, omg now what? BSG still ties with Farscape as my favorite tv show ever and I will still continue to watch it obsessively when the mood strikes, especially season 1 and the first few eps of season 3.

I guess you might have seen this one coming, but I did not like the ending to Farscape either. That said, I would watch it if it was on tv though. It was not nearly as bad as BSG's ending. I think we have similar tastes in good Sci-Fi, I am more critical on the ending due to the perceived expectations of a good finished product from previous seasons. I think we would both agree they raised the bar high. So high they fell very short of our expectations. I.E., they could have done much better.

I've watched the entire series through twice. It's still my favorite show of all time. To each his own.

I wasn't comparing the two. In fact, I differentiated by saying this is a great deal for those want bluray quality. Obviously bluray is superior to streaming services in almost every single way; however, having seen the series once before I don't think there is much for me to gain by watching it again on bluray. Maybe if I had a great sound system I could benefit from the lossless audio tracks, but I probably wouldn't notice the difference since I only have a sound bar.

Yep -- don't buy this for $60 and buy The Plan for less than $9. It's much better to buy the entire set for $110 and basically get the 4 season sets and a separate case with The Plan.

Good lord, I can't believe someone said "The Plan" was awesome. It was by far the worst written and fragmented story they ever told in the series. It was a terrible flashback on an awesome series.

Soooo... I was trying not to spend any more money. But damn, $60 for the whole series on Blu-Ray? This is one of the few series I can watch over and over again. Now I can do it full HD. Besides, I can probably sell my DVDs off for the price I paid for the Blu-Ray set. If not, well I will just give them to my brother who loves the series as well.

It's a great series... except for the end. In the second or third to last episode you find out what the music is at the end of the episode. That's it, the end. Don't watch the next episode. Read a spoiler if you want, but if you watch the last episode it will just ruin the rest of the series... just like Lost.

I thought The Plan was a good idea on paper. In practice----no.

I know a lot of people had expectations of them finding modern Earth and merging with the existing population. But what they did find really tied everything together in so many ways. The theme of "this has all happened before, it will happen again" was explained. And the ending tied the entire series in to the modern world. Personally I loved the end of the series. LOVED IT.

I loved the last episode. I loved it even more when I see all these people squirming after watching it.

I don't know how it will end, but seeing as how I had absolutely NO PROBLEM with Mass Effect 3's ending I don't think I'll be all that upset if this ends similarly.

In for a set. Loved this show, have the digital downloads in blu-ray quality on my media server, but without commentary tracks. Might be fun to have this and for <$58 it is a bargain.

that is up to you. if you have Netflix and a Blu Ray player you have probably already noticed the big difference in audio and video quality between the two. if you are watching on a small TV or PC monitor it might not be worth it. if you have a nice big screen TV and surround sound setup you may want the extra eye/ear candy...

i have Amazon Prime and started watching season 1 about a month ago. i have been watching on my 27" 2560x1440 PC monitor. Amazon's HD stream looks great, but i also have a 1080p projector, 106" screen, and 5.1 surround setup. i'm very tempted to get this set...

It is free from my local library. It is a good series but I don't think I would watch it over and over again even with you know, number 6.

In Farscapes defense, sci fi canceled it a year early right before the S4 mid season finale. Also we can blame Wayne Pygram for the stupid flower crap. The mini was okay I guess minus the non sensical Sikozu twist . Keep an eye out for Defiance next year. Rockne OBannons back.

Will the extras and special features play on US players? Dealnews has this warning on their site:

This is one of those series' which, when you view it the second time (and succeeding times), different things will pop up at you, and you'll think--damn, I didn't pick up on that before! LOL I think LOST falls into this category, too.

I'm rewatching Fringe on the Science Channel, and it makes SO much more sense now, having seen the whole series (thus far), already.

I've seen the show couple years ago so don't remember the ending that much... the ending did piss me off though and in my opinion they would've been better finishing the series about 2 episodes before they ended (with the great battle and just stop there)

Again -- everything on this set is 100% compatible with US players and TV as long as your equipment is functioning and the Discs aren't bad.

For those not rolling in the hundreds of extra dollars of disposable income a month, that is probably the wise choice.

Also, if you don't have an actual 5.1 surround system (sound is half the cinematic experience) you really should watch it on Netflix.

That being said, for all the "I'll watch it on Netflix" people:
Netflix bitrate (1.5Mb) vs Blu-ray bitrate (27MB) is crazy different. I guess Netflix HD is good enough for the people who also don't really care if they see it in SD but BSG is a cinematic experience, unlike re-watching Friends in SD because you're just waiting for the punchlines.

I'm just trying to say Netflix HD bitrate is so poor, it's really just "clear-er" SD, but the lack of minimally a 5.1 surround system would make the BD rather pointless.

I also just received a shipping confirmation on the second set. Both orders show up on the orders page with the second showing zero charge. The original order is 'In Transit'. I'm assuming that since they state 'replacement' I'll be getting one copy. But they also state zero charge for the second set, so maybe I'll get both..

I ordered back on Dec 4th and it just arrived today. Merry Christmas to me! Now I am in a quandary between wanting to watch this, finish up Star Trek Voyager via Netflix, play Borderlands 2 and Black Ops 2, and that miserable job of mine. Meh, the job can wait! :)
